"Like a gender reveal party and you like blow up the balloons or like shoot the skeet or hit the exploding baseball and it's orange. And you're like what the F--- does that mean?" Lol I almost spit out my water laughing at that one!
Yep.the older cigar blends were something. Although with so many blends and with limited availability (and funds) it’s hard to be too definitive. It’s $300 when you can find it in my area.
I just finished a bottle of the triple cask. It’s not very available where I live in upstate NY though. I liked everything but the finish, had a weird flavor like rubbing alcohol almost. It’s kind of the same thing I get with the sazerac Early Times.
Great video, I know that Nancy the Nose stated to after the neck pour to let it sit for awhile then go back to it. I have Batch 81 and 85 and they got way better after a month.
Managed to score my very first bottle of JMCB last month (and at MSRP too!), and it's also batch 131. I have been waiting to have friends over for cigars to actually crack the bottle, but I don't know how much longer I can wait. If I can ever find an older batch to try, I'm definitely going to spring for it if it's reasonable.
I just finished two drams of Foresquare Sagacity aged Rum while listening to the two Jazz legends, Ahmad Jamal and McCoy Tyner. Needless to say, I'm a happy boy right now.
I have 35, 138, and 159. 35 is amazing 138 is underwhelming and 159 might be even better than 35. They’re not meant to be the same so they’re going to vary which also means some will be better than others. I would take the chance though anytime I saw a bottle for under $240
Matt, great review of batch 131, l was lucky enough to find batch 85 (blueberry bomb a 9.3) at retail and hope to find 131. Keep up the reviews! @Nancy F rocks!!!
I still have half a bottle of Batch 26 that I have been hidiing from myself since it truly is a once a year (or every two) pour. I also have a JMCB batch 105 and it recently lost in a blind to Doc Swinsons triple cask barrell proof (that cost $68 and that sits on shelves). Not saying it isn't good, but not nearly the same caliber sadly.
I have four batches. The earlier ones are definitely better. Unfortunately, mine don’t go as far back as 66. I have 86, 90, 100 and 142…not that you care Great review and comparison 👊
@@venomous1071 I recently tasted 86, 90 and 142 in one sitting to be able to answer honestly. 86 was the winner hands down. More complexity than 90 and 142. 90 gets a slight edge over 142 but I’m not sure how much of that is mental based on seeing the bottles. All are great but 86 is another level
I just wanted you to say Grand Rapids too just for no good reason at all just because I live there and not because it has anything to do with Holland,Mi and Jos A Magnus.. but as soon as you said west michigan I was hoping it would be included.. Good video by the way.
I have heard most products before batch 100 were in a class by themselves however to say anything after 100 is bad is dumb because they are still very good.
Hey now Matt,,,,great show as usual, but I gotta say those T shirts from into the AM are fantastic. I've got compliments by people saying, "Hey man, are you working out ? amazing clothes, just saying......
I think like all sourced bottes start out very good since they are using the premium barrel they first find and then those stocks fade and you can see it in the drink. The blenders are still really good they just dont have the same quality to blend. My best example is Smoke Wagon still good just not as good.
I know a couple Cigar Blend went through my local shop for just over $200 but there's still a few of the Joseph Magnus 100 proof silver label that I really am trying to save up that $99 for. Cheers Matt!!!
I have a bottle of batch 41 and it's the best bottle of anything I've ever had. I picked up a batch 150 something the other day. Now I'm real interested how it's going to be.
I finally found a batch 114 and was expecting to be blown away, but was a little underwhelmed. I still really like the bottle, but it’s not one of the best bottles I’ve tried.
Haha not a surprise that they are putting out younger stuff for still a high price riding the coattails of the good stuff they used to put in. I doubt they have access to high aged barrels like that anymore
Nancy is obviously an amazing blender, that hasnt changed, but i definitely dont think she has the kind of barrels available she used to. I still consider batch 55 to be the best bourbon ive ever had.
First video I’ve watched of yours and I came for the review but laughed my ass off at the commentary. Throughly enjoyed. Need a lip reader to tell us how you ended the video.
I believe the quality has gone down. I have the tobacconist which is exceptional and another one. Just recently bought batch 140 something and it’s off the mark. Just doesn’t have the depth. I am a big deal too and know my whiskey
Sulfur is an extremely common note found in wine finished bourbons and Scotches...especially when finished in Sherry Casks. Smells like a burnt match. Your cry laugh is justified, however, if you read your comment aloud to yourself in the mirror.
I’ve tried batches from the early 20’s all the way up to batch 130 and they’re all fantastic and I can’t tell much difference. Neither can anyone else but hey if it makes you feel like you’re important, go for it.
You’re in the majority of people who can’t tell the difference in taste between light beer and actual beer. Or Dr Strangelove and Napoleon Dynamite. Or wisdom and idiocy. So my advice is quite buying expensive whiskey, but hey if if makes you feel like you’re important, go for it. And I recommend you quit trolling, but hey if it makes you feel important, go for it. 🥸
Good to know as I've been wanting a bottle of this. It's available locally for 250, which is a bit high for me. They had it at costco in Scottsdale, AZ for 180, but it sold out fast. BTW, Idea of a weight loss topic. Has your whiskey consumption changed as part of your diet/health journey.

Shoutout here from Holland MI!😎
I’m from holland! We are in the middle of Tulip Time currently. Might just have to pick up a Joseph Magnus to celebrate
Glad to see a review on the different batches and differences.
Joseph Magnus I think in general is underrated. They were pricing it high out the gate but bc of Nancy they’re always on point.
How is JMCB considered underrated when it is always hard to find and/or allocated?!😂
Been wondering about this one for a bit, thanks for the review

Very helpful guide to this bourbon. Thanks for the video, Matt!
I did not know the newer ones were different….I’m so thankful I scored a batch 69! Thanks for the heads up👍
How is your batch 69 ?
@@venomous1071 really good. I have yet to try a newer batch to compare.
JM cigar blend is definitely on the unicorn list. The triple cask finish is very good and very available in my area. Badass review as always Matt! 🥃

Yo, can I get a reply or Patreon message/ video cut of what you edited out at the end? Lol. Probably gold. Great review as always!
Was lucky to pick up batch #93, which is sweet and fruity. Love it. 🥃

I had 113 at a bar yesterday, it was very okay. Not comparable to the early batches which were incredible
Love your delivery. Inspiring me
Crazy I have the same bottle, batch 131 bottle #13. Great video. Cheers!
So what you’re saying is…batch 66 should have been labeled “Jessica Simpsons freshly riden saddle”? GOT IT! 👍🏼👍🏼
Nice work as always, Matt
Matt, great review of batch 131, l was lucky enough to find batch 85 (blueberry bomb a 9.3) at retail and hope to find 131. Keep up the reviews! @Nancy F rocks!!!
I had batch 91 and really liked it. Have not found another to buy of any batch since
My local store made a mistake one morning and put this on the shelf for $122. Much more palatable than the $166 it was listed for later that afternoon
Batch 59 also, phenomenal.
I just snagged a bottle of J.M. finished in Sherry and Cognac. Looking forward to cracking that bad boy open.
Matt, ever have the MJ finished?

Low 100s were not up to par per Nancy
I have an unopened bottle of batch #8 after i finished off a batch #22. One of the better bourbons I have had.
Matt, tell Into the AM to send you a size smaller tshirt. You’re freakin’ ready!!
10:01 "Tits on a turtle" dead
Haven’t had the new stuff but those older bottles of JMCB are in the top 5 whiskeys I’ve ever had. Turtle titties is right!

Good to know thnx for the response , I thinking about picking up batch 68 which was same group as the sample Matt just tried which is batch 66.
@@venomous1071 oh cool! I’d love to get some earlier batches. Enjoy
Batch 110 here, not disappointed in the least 🥃
When they pit the dates against each other, do they fight in a small arena or just a straight-up street brawl in the orchard?

Love me some JMCB.
@adhdwhiskey Matt, your cougars jump to the top of a tree?!? The ones I see only seem to be able to jump onto a bar stool…🤪
I can't tell if you're wasted or kinda high or both but I like it.
I have a batch 57 I’ve been milking and a 136. 136 is very good but 57 is just a different animal. Having the new one helps make the 57 last though
I opened my batch 68 and I honestly regret opening it that it taste so good,

It is a glorious bottle, have the MI only batch 👍
I’ve seen other reviews and batch 58 was probably the best!
Ironic that I just picked up a bottle today. Mine is Batch 159 and Bottle #362. Here's hoping it is great at $200.
Can I send you a sample of Batch 19?
I wish you would

Batch 50 for me bees knees
I recently acquired batch 13. Pumped about that.

Feel like they hooked us then bumped the price and diminished the product.
Aren't all older bottles better though. It's also cheaper now. Just saying.
I had a bottle about three months ago. I was completely underwhelmed. Especially for the price.
