    Man, I'm so glad the algorithm fairies lead me to this video. It's the best, clearest, most accessible 3D scanning tutorial ever. Very grateful you took the time to create and share your workflow. Now, I feel like I can take on a photogrammetry project myself instead of taking my stuff to an expensive service with 3D scanners. Thanks very much!

    Hey man just wanted to say that I really appreciate your videos on this topic! Honestly this is the most in-depth and generous tutorial on this topic, and it gets me excited about the possibilities of this in my workflow!

      Thanks I really really appreciate that! It’s really changed the way that I make images so I’m glad I can get other people into it 🙏🏽

    Maybe if you want to fix the sole and have a full one, take a picture of it and try to UV map it ! Haven’t tried but it should work !

    • @popularimagination
      @popularimagination  Рік тому +2

      I can confirm that works! Depends on how detailed the sole is but definitely works for a shoe like this.

    • @JaimeHedrera
      @JaimeHedrera Місяць тому

      That should work but if you shoot the photos with a constant background, like for example a white or black background in all images and you rotate the object manually or by using a turntable, you will get a clean mesh of the object, because you can rotate it and get all sides of the object. Almost every 3D photogrammetry software can use this trick, but you have to make sure that the background is still and doesn't change

    What about the hole at the bottom of the shoes? Did you just leave it like that or close the hole with something?

    • @popularimagination
      @popularimagination  5 місяців тому +2

      It depends on what you’re using the model for. Sometimes I just leave it, sometimes I do a separate scan for just the bottom of the shoe and then join the 2 scans.

    Nice tutorial, but with a very misleading title. You did plenty of manipulations in Blender, but the photogrammetry itself was done using a completely different software...

    I would be curious to know how we can apply material qualities to areas of the 3d scan? Like reflective parts, glass etc.

    • @popularimagination
      @popularimagination  Рік тому +1

      So I do have a way of doing that actually. It’s a little rough but I could probably put together another video about it.

    great vid, and very clear instructions.
    We are a furniture company and we want to scan our big sofa's and convert them in to 3D models like you do here... How would you go about doing this?

    • @popularimagination
      @popularimagination  8 місяців тому

      Thanks! That would be a bit of an undertaking since the objects are so large. I would probably approach it the same way with the sofas on the ground and a larger, higher light source.

    • @csv1971
      @csv1971 8 місяців тому

      @@popularimagination thanks for your reply. Does it matter the order in which you would do the details photos?
      I mean on a sofa I would have to shoot many up close photos of different details on the sofa ...

    Great video! You ever try the gaussian splatting? And if so comparexto this whats your viee?

    • @popularimagination
      @popularimagination  8 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! I have tried it and it’s very cool for capturing glass/reflective objects. I haven’t rendered out any full images or video from them but that’ll be my next step before making a full comparison.

    thankssss..is this 3d scan shoes possible for remesh for like 10k or 5k vertices or faces so can use for games? and also can use it for substance painter for texturing

    • @popularimagination
      @popularimagination  Рік тому

      Yes! You can export from polycam with less vertices. There are ways to change the mesh and make it easier to use in substance painter but the polycam texture maps by default are tough for that.

    hello can someone help me to repair the sole please my sneakers have drawings on the sole I really need to remove the hole

    • @popularimagination
      @popularimagination  11 місяців тому

      It depends on your shoe but one solution is to use a straight image of your sole and import that as a plane for the bottom.
