That haunted enraged lament from Disturbed in contrast witha original version of the song is that people ignored the initial warning of the original version and now comes the rage and the lament ! The song loses it's light which had in the original performance , and then the lament starts from darkness... The singer David Draiman starts singing from Baritone' s low register not in the middle like in original recording by Simon and Garfunkel ... Loses it's speed ... Is now not in 108 bpm like original ( moderato ) but in 86 bpm ( adante ) . And the key is changed from the original D# minor to F# minor . Very heavy scale . That is how you reborn a masterpiece and Disturbed did the best work on this . And the orchestration was a jewel , orchestrator did great job ... A Grand Piano surrounded by Timpani , Cymbals and Tubular Bells , 2 guitars , and a string ensemble ! Simple and powerful ! In my opinion they could have added a choir for more epicness and emotion but , I respect the opinion of the orchestrator ... he wanted it like that , and he succeded the purpose .
Gods Powerful Warning is so clear in this song.....David's voice brings emotion to every word... Close your eyes & Let your soul show you the meaning...Beautiful...

@Glenda CrosbyWilkins Sorry to burst your bubble, but the song does not mean what you think it does. It literally says, "...and the people bowed and prayed...to the NEON GOD THEY MADE" It's only your religious indoctrination that has you seeing your own special brand of the god you made in things. Men made the gods they worship. Grow up.
I know I'm 2 years late and 8 years later than when this was performed, but I discovered this last month. Incredible voice, emotional song. Shout out to you for recognising the orchestra, no one else seems to mention how much they add to the emotion of it. Unbelievable cover version and the best live performance I've ever seen
I just found this song in early July 2023. I can't play this song enough. I watched a live performance on 7/30/23 and it was just like this version and it was 7 years ago. Wow, what an outstanding cover and what an outstanding voice and instrumentals. I am 78 and I remember 1964 when it first came out and we liked it then. But in 2023, this is just the most perfect version to hear what we need to hear today. Couldn't be better.
This is the first perfect review video I've seen of this song ever. You watched the whole video before you said one word. Everyone stops and butchers the video. Good job thank you
Simon and Garfunkel wrote incredible songs and sang them exceptional well. It was a great song when they sang it and when David Draiman did it he took it to another level and brought the song to younger generations that never heard it before. The words to this song have a very powerful message, that the silence is bad and that you should speak out when something happens. If you see, hear or are a victim say something don't be silent.
Hi👋🏼 David Draiman is one of the most talented singers! So thank you for this. Not sure what you may have done of theirs so far, or if at all of their usual so here’s a few suggestions,,,DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS…STRICKEN…STUPIFY…PRAYER. I’m on your Pentatonix journey and saw you did this. Thank you. I do get whiplash going back and forth. DISTURBED, heavy metal and Pentatonix. Well you know…Angels sent to help heal the world, one convert at a time.
Kudos on your insight. Not too many reactions recognize the timeless brilliance of the lyrics. They are Biblical, as is more obvious when you listen to the original album this song came out on in 1964. It was called Wednesday Morning 3AM, by Simon and Garfunkel. It's really about the human condition, which hasn't changed since the dawn of man. It will always be timeless. One of the darkest, saddest songs ever written, and oh, so true!
I grew up listening to this song by Simon & Garfunkel & have always loved it. I had a lot of their records. Many people have covered this song. Disturbed's version is a much darker take on this song. Peter Hollens & Tim Foust (from Home Free) do a great version of this song. Their voices complement each other perfectly & the layering of their voices is amazing. I hope you will check it out.

Your facial expressions are more entertaining than the video. I love this interpretation of the song, but I couldn't take my eyes away from your expressive face. Nice!
S&G sang a warning about how the relationship between the people and technology would end up where the people would be silent, and technology would end up as a "Neon God". David is not warning his audience. He thinks that it has already happened. David is pronouncing sentence. Rage is appropriate while pronouncing sentence.
Listen to the original from Simon & Garfunkle. It is a warning message. Disturbed's version is an angry version because we did not heed the message of the original.
