- Today I continue looking at the times the Watcher broke his oath by examining the first appearance of Galactus, the Silver Surfer and the Ultimate Nullifier in what is typically referred to as the Galactus Trilogy.

bought this as a young boy, in giant size, the entire Trilogy, what a gift!! Kirby at one of his peaks.

The greatest comics trilogy of all time. The Fantastic Four vesus God (that was the original conception by Stan & Jack to celebrate the FF's 50th ish). And of course, the Surfer is the perfect sacrificial Christ.

Agreed in concept. Kirby was mighty interested in Christ for a Jew, it was probably his love of classical literature that instilled that. Don't forget there was also Orion and Mr. Miracle of the New Gods. Basically God and the Devil trading sons and in the process proving the good of God is greater than even the Devil's evil. Not only did Orion become good under the Highfather's watch but Mr. miracle retained the goodness of New Genesis.

Fantastic Four is my favorite comic collection during my elementary as well as HS days. I trade or exchange my other Marvel or DC comics for FF. 👍
I am pretty stoked that later this year I may get an opportunity to see the first ten issues together, unslabbed, in a private collection!

Love your commentary sir. I read in the comments that you are planning on doing other types of content. I wish you would do the next chapter of Adam Warlock before you cease covering the marvel universe. Also, I'm probably in the minority here but the spawn videos are excellent.
The next chapter of Adam Warlock is a long one. I was considering doing his alt-Earth Christ thing as a single video but it was running close to four hours. It's all written.
I appreciate the support. I haven't completely given up on the channel. The summer is the hardest time for me to work on it - I run a small farm from late Spring to early Fall.
I too was loving the Spawn series - but it just wasn't getting the views.
Another problem - I love doing longform videos but people want five minute content. I love getting into the nitty gritty details of the story or showing how a character changes when a new writer takes over.
So, I'm reevaluating my UA-cam options. Make shorter comic videos? Move away from stories and talk more about writers and artist I love in short form videos? Instead of doing deep dives - maybe discuss the story arcs in more general terms?
The other problem is - despite the MCU movies doing SO GOOD - people are not buying more comics. Despite their pop culture dominance at the moment - it's a shrinking industry with lower sales year over year which means I'm making content for a shrinking audience.
Maybe I'll pop off a Patreon at some point and if it meets it's goals I'll be back to weekly videos. It's ready to roll out - I just have to pull the trigger.
I'm at that fork in the road where I need to change how this channel is run and the videos are formatted or I need to start a new channel that focuses on more generalized topics that appeal to a wider audience. I say all that while gaining more subs a month than ever before.

I like the book where Thor uses the odinship spaceship to find and fight galactus while a robot named recorder filmed it it's from 12 cent era
Got that one on my radar now that Galactus has entered the picture.
I have that, I favorite Thor epic.

The Watcher's actions were justified. He is the watcher and protector of the Universe. He admitted that in all the cosmos, only Galactus's power challenged his own, in which case, he was a threat to the Universe.
I just had a horrible thought, if Galactus is from another world (which was revealed to us in an issue of Thor), why would he use the same alphabet as the Earth, with that big G on his chest?
Ummm... for the no prize - the G is an ancient symbol of his people which is shorthand for "he who stands alone" - don't think that's real... I just made it all up. Yeah, language barriers are something to overcome for certain writers while others assume the Galactic Universal Language is English
@@Cosmic.Comics when he speaks he could use some kind of Universal Translator device to convert his speech to English but not using an English letter on his chest. I read once it was meant to symbolize G for God.

I had been sitting on that one for awhile. Decided to finish the editing and push it out. Next chapter of Warlock is coming together but packing for a long distance move is getting in the way of my normal fresh batch of winter vids

Some of this story did not age well
Never liked Jack Kirby. Wouldn't spend money on any comics with him as the artist. He can't draw faces. As you can see here, every female looks like Jackie O, wide eyes and wide face. Every male looks like William Devane with that wide mouth. Buscema and Romita were the best artists Marvel had.
You don't like blank stares and lifeless eyes?
His character work wasn't always on point but his backgrounds were great.
