Yep, I use 65lb braid for multiple species no problem. Bass, Walleye, Pike, Trout, Salmon, and even Panfish. Helps me get out of snags easy, less risk of breaking, and no birdsnest from high diameter lb test line.
@@IceAce150 Yep, 65lb braid all day. I don’t really believe in the whole line sensitivity thing cus I obviously still catch on green braid (unless you’re throwing thick heavy ropes lol) I think it could only be an issue in clear still water cus of the vibrations that travel from my rod down the line to the lure. So if anything, the vibrations off my line would spook Trout but in moving water, everything is game. Think about it; you got a lure made out of metal wires, looped blades, rubber, plastic, and a hook dangling off the tail. You really think a fish is going to think twice about a line attached to it that resembles seaweed vegetation? Lol
Im losing alot of fish in the hydrilla using a trick worm setup with a swivel. alot of bites . do you think using straight braid will help thsi application too?
I just put my first spool of 30lb spiderwire stealth (dark green) on my baitcaster. I see a lot (probably 90%) of fishermen say to use a leader (7 - 10 ft of fluoro or mono). At the same time I see a lot of other people saying that no leader is just as fine. So, I'm not sure who to listen to. I fish primarily from the bank in Central Arkansas, should I use a leader or no?
My best friend fishes straight braid exclusively... No leaders, ever... He still catches fish, sometimes outfishes me. Not always optimum, for sure, but it's not like it's a bite-killer.
When I first learn how to fish I use to use full braid. It seemed just fine I figured that can see the hook why not the line. Yes I’ve changed, but maybe it has more to do with confidence idk.
I have a question what's the thickness braid I should use. I'm catching fluke. And what weight should I use also is it good to tie mono to the reel first the not braid to it. I'm fishing in deep water at sheap shay bay in Coney Island.
I always use Straight braid never have it slip I think it’s more in peoples heads tbh whoppers poppers frogs I’ve had it slipp one time in a frog and that’s it so always use straight braid don’t like casting into a backing either find it anyoing
I just got ridiculed for using straight braid no leader😭 it made me feel really dumb lol I never thought to use a leader because I don’t wanna add a weak point with an extra knot and I don’t see why I would throw 20lb braid with confidence of it not snapping just to add a line that’s half as strong to it if I’m thinking foolish please inform me of what I’m missing because I definitely don’t wanna be in the dark on this😂
@Chris Dorner I use black braid for the aesthetic of the reels anyway lol it all comes down to opinion but if you ask me if you’re just flipping around for some bass just tie a lure on and go for me time to fish is already hard enough to find plus maintaining the gopros battery and storage why add more headaches when for years I’ve been fishing straight braid no issues
Piss on what anyone says. Let ur creel be your proof. However, if you are not confident you will not fish it well. Do what you want, be confident, and the ridiculors can hit their mf knees!
Yes you can, but you should back your drag as to provide give so you dont tear the hooks out when the fish makes a run. Also, take into account the action of the rod. I use a medium action rod most of the time. Most people dont use the drag like they should. If you crank down so the drag does not give some you risk putting a dime size hole in the mouth of the fish and run the risk of it getting off. Ask me how I know???? I have fished straight braid for many years with very few problems when using the above technics.
@@glock_9ine956 Yes i use a leader in clear water which is rare for me. I also tie a leader on a carolina rig when fishing around rock. Any bottom bouncer around rock requires a leader or your line will bread from abraison. Straight braid is superior to other lines. Why does a person spend so much money on a rod for sensitivity and then put plastic line on that stretches and dulls the fill? The only fish I have come across that is line shy is a crappie. Also, like Derek said braid will slow your fall rate due to it floating so I also use a leader if I am fishing over 5 feet deep with a small lure.
Any studies to back up that claim?? Fish see differently from humans and even then have you personally done an underwater test? Or only observed it from above the surface of the water?
All this no leader stuff is great, until your crank bait, jig or worm rig is hung up 20 feet deep. You will understand why I use a leader. Flipping and punching sure. Everything else, leader rules.
I think he’s talking about not losing as much line when calling it quits on getting the lure back and not needing to cut the line as the liter will release first. 😅
Dude Stop using extra fast that’s old thinking , especially with heavy rods , straight braid A moderate, or moderate fast will get you more fish and more money bam!!!
I just started fishing i dont know what am doing at all probably put about 50 hours in to it this past moths and was doing just straight braid only got my 2 fish at night and very shallow water i though they couldn't see the line they smarter then i though evolution i guess
Thanks for info, I thought same and rigged up my rods with similar set up. Good news and great video and knowledge experience

Your tieing a leader to it ?

Good tips. Thanks for sharing.
I run braid on my open face reel and on my close face 404 and 808 I love that line
Awesome explanation and methods
Excellent video, I agree 100% with your philosophy. Any problems with the braid pulling into itself on the spool during setting up on a fish?
Great information and video
Caught my pb 30” striper straight braid. But I would prob catch more fish with fluro but I don’t like having a knot in my reel
Knot shouldnt hit the reel, some would argue make sure ur knot doesnt even hit the guides.
Leader just short of rod length
I use braid for night time top water I always wondered about just going straight on braid. I use white 15 lb 832. ? I usually 10/12 leader about 6’
What braid brand was that high VIS green?

@Baise Duezcke how did it go?
unless you are using high vis braid straight braid is ok even if you are you can always color the last 6-10ft with a marker.
@Jolly Giant last year I started using straight braid and caught more bass.

I’m a new bass fisherman, my question to you is what is the best overall pound-size Braided line? (For any condition & any type of bait)
15lb
I'm going to Bussey Brake and wondering if I can use straight braid? I here the water is tea stained and the lure color choice is dark. Thanks!

What are a rod and reel that are perfect for 65lb braid
Popeil's Pocket Fisherman ! Your welcome :)
Heavy action rod and a 4000 size reel
Can you Throw crankbaits and jerkbaits with braid?
its best not to use with treble hooks.

hello sir. fishing . braid line who is the best coler
Dark green
White People...
Can you throw crankbaits with braid
Yes. Set your drag a tad looser
Sure, but not recommend. Mono is your best option. Braid has no stretch and can rip treble hooks out of the fish’s mouth and you lose your fish.
Why would you want to?
no leader?
So no need to re tie a floro leader everyday , ima try this
You're not a fishermen, you're a competitor. Big difference.
What knot DH ?
Best knot for braid is uni knot.

bass like structure and get caught up in weeds and wrapped around branches.
