you can use the z drive axle without the z drive, only difference is extra flat spots for the z drive grub screws, it will work fine with the standard spur gears
@@BrensRCracing Welcome mate, another quick question if I may, What gearing do you run? We have a fairly small local circuit and on my hot rod I am running 16/48 but if I true the tyres down that will result in a drop in MMPR. Do you true and then re-gear?
@@tobywan12 16 48 at my regular track..... No I tend not to worry about final "roll out gearing" for me the trued tyres are all about the handling not a speed thing
Hi mate keep the videos coming Iv bought Mardave mini and the carbon vrx hot hatch Iv never done this before is it best to start with hotrod is it better for a new driver that hasn’t done it before
Fantastic Stephen... Glad you have found the hobby.... Absolutely the Hot Hatch is 100% easier to drive in my opinion as a new starter although the basics are the same the extra 4or 5 cm relax the car making it more stable 👍👍👍👍
My carbon version arrived yesterday first class even tho I only paid 2nd, I've not bought any urgrades yet tho. Would it be possible to machine the original plastic parts to lower the holes for the axle? This is really good that you are talking about these fun little cars..they are becoming popular all over in clubs it seems.
Brilliant mate you'll love it.... Just watch the car for being "twitchy" as the carbon makes the car really stiff and responsive..... I wouldn't machine the axle lower get the upgraded pod buddy its penny's really and saves any possible mistakes 👍👍👍👍have fun with it and where are you racing?
Hi mate I've never tried to run it outside I guess in theory it would be OK but I can assure you'll probably go through the foam tyres really quickly? Yes the do have front suspension nothing complicated just a spring which can be changed for hard medium and soft versions....
@@BrensRCracing I intend to run the car in my garage, which is relatively smooth, so hopefully the foam tires don't wear out so quickly. I believe I could also use the Kamtec adatper for Tamiya wheels, so I can use rubber tires and also get some additional ground clearance. Are Kamtec and Mardave wheels interchangeable?
@@kevybadboy that's mega pal great that it's inspired you to have a go it's exactly what the channel is about..... Agreed the website is super confusing unless you know what's what 👍👍
Ok so I have order the assassin kit, could I ask, if you have time to make a video on what spares and other things you would need for a race meeting, just want to get an idea before I do my first race meet, great videos learning a lot, hopefully I will get to do some close racing as well
Of course your build area is carpeted so you'll never find the C clip that pinged off 🤣 Just ordered a kit from Mardave, it's the standard Assassin not the carbon. 😊
I’ve just ordered my 1st mardave ever, mini assassin so am finding your videos very helpful, thanks.
That's fantastic to hear mate if you get stuck let me know if I can help👍👍
Well done Bren cars looking great 👍
Cheers Matt loving the carbon look.... And as I said if it looks fast it must be 🤣

But it doesn't seem to fit through the bearings pal.... Mardave Matt is on the case this evening 👍👍👍
@pennineraceway1172 probably a small burr from machining the extra flats, run a file around the flat might help
@@philipwall7503 will try thanks pal
Great video thanks... My axel was the same. Just used a light wet & Dry and it sorted it.
Yep same here pal.... Thanks for the kind words glad you enjoyed the video 👍👍👍

@@tobywan12 have to wait for that I'm afraid... I'm in a field camping this weekend and it's a No RC zone by order of my boss👍
The z drive axle will work however it will need a touch with the wet and dry to help the bearings fit.
Cheers.... Yep all sorted... Your right just the bear on the axle
Polish the kingpins with metal polish Brasso😉 also helps for smoothness😆
Thanks 👍👍👍👍
Now i want one !!!
Glad you feel inspired 👍👍👍👍👍
Just finished building this kit with the axle supplied i had to file a bit a tiny bit of the axle for it to fit through the bearings.
Yes seems to be the solution.... I've emery papered mine and it's sorted 👍

e clips are very useful, just user error causing issues 🙂
NO!!!! they are hateful things😉😂
Nice little car! Can it be run outside on asphalt, or is it just suitable for indoor racing? It doesn’t have any kind of front suspension, correct?

Daft question, what do you use to hold the esc and receiver in place.
No such thing as a daft question mate.... Just double sided tape..
hey buddy, What was the total costing to build the car? It looks awesome
Minus radio gear £200
Thanks, I'm putting an order in today for 2 cars. I'm taking my boy down to our local club in Crewe next week.

Is there a kit no for this, is there a kit number for this product
It’s the Assassin SC mate for the carbon version
Thanks for watching any questions contact mardave via Facebook as I don't want to steer you wrong

the pod has 5mm less on the bottom of it, so the motor will be lower as well as the axle, come on Bren.....
That's why the comments are invaluable buddy.... Still lots to learn myself 👍👍👍
These are never the most fluid of builds with Mardave are they?
Maybe the ET2036 would have been better for you. Super fast and so reliable.
Not too bad buddy and I'm pretty familiar with them now so all good..... Will look at the servo mate but has to be under £50rrp for the regs
About £40
