Finally, it's here-the all-new (to me) #TeamAssociatedB7! Thank you, Santa! 🌟 With Round 1 of Battly Buggy Club's new 2025 indoor winter series to sink my teeth into, this will be a real opportunity to see if it's the car or the driver that makes the difference. It's certainly a step up from my 10-year-old B6! Q1: Right out of the gate, I matched the pace of the B6 with a solid 16 laps. Q2: Ano...

Looking awesome out there! Just some bad crashes in really bad places to crash to kill the time for you. Glad you're really happy with it, guess I should really spend the time over the next couple weeks to build mine (hopefully not missing parts as I'm building it with left over parts from my kids used car we bought). Running my B6.4 again next race over here for one last run before we retire it to my sons shelf (as it's the first buggy he built, and I'd sold mine for him to get the B7 which he loves). My B6.4 really likes to go nose up, even hitting the brakes doesn't help much when it's over the top vertical lol. I should put some weights in the nose to drop the nose down but I'm also over the top in steering at the moment. Was watching you going into that sweeper at the end of the straight cringing at how close you're coming to the wall most laps, the track almost looks too skinny at that end to handle the speed you're hitting it at. You're making it through there with less than a handful of incidents so all good. Also looked like you were losing a little "oomph" in the last few laps, barely clearing that double, clipping the top of the landing a couple times ... nose heavy may have been a contributing factor lol. Looking great though, hope I can get mine to drive like yours, though you also have a teeny tiny (or a lot) better skill than mine ;o). Thanks for sharing as always! Fhuz oot.

Cheers as always mate ; as I said considering I'm just running this as i received it not a clue as to the diff oil or shock oils in the car and I'm reluctant at the moment to start breaking it down as its going as well as it does ....The end of the straight I can get a good run through and carry some much better speed assuming I get my turn in point just right ... yes although I obviously run each race with a full charged battery your right there does seem to be a little fade as the race goes on but honestly not enough to affect my overall position.... Have a top week buddy

@@BrensRCracing lol, hit the nail on the head for me. I bought a used B74.2, and a used B7 for my son to run. He's driving magnificently as the cars are right now, but ... I have no idea what oil is in them. Going to be a bit of a rough "patch" figuring that out in the future. Luckily the expert racer I bought the 4wd from uses a sharpy to write what weight he put in them, so I have that recorded (tip trick I guess lol). I need to mount new tires tonight for him, as the tires on both vehicles are going bald, they only last a few races for the front tires at the rate he drives, and I was hoping to use the old ones as hand me downs, but geeze they're gone lol. Luck and skill on your next race buddy, looking awesome out there in your B7 having fun!

Great race, running smooth as always ... well, for most of the time on the track, we won't count the 5 or 6 SNAFU's will we 😉. From experience, it always seems we're running tighter than we are when we're actually racing until we rewatch the footage. My first thought on that 3rd turn on the first lap was "Hey, nice move from your team mate LOL", that was a move one of my mates would make on me then start giggling as he drove away (we're like that, it's his favorite thing to do to me, as we laugh it off). I think I did the same to 2nd place when he was lapping me on Saturday by accident ... us older folks sometimes develop this weird tick that glitches our car in odd ways, totally not on purpose. Well, my twitches aren't on purpose anyway. Upgrading to a B7 now eh? I upgraded my son to a used one a few races ago (the previous owner was a local AE sponsored racer that converted to Schumacher, and loves his new cougar). Asked him how he feels about being beat by his own car, said it's awesome lol. Kidding aside, my son loves the B7. He took my B6.4 (I'm driving his old one) for a couple of laps, handed the controller back to me and said "drives like crap", went back to his B7 (my son is 14). That said, we setup our track on Friday night here in Vancouver, practice till 10pm, then race on Saturday. My son broke his B7 3x (4 parts) practicing on Friday (glad he got it out of his system practicing and not racing right). Broke the right side of the Front Caster Block twice where the pivot balls sits in it, and the Front Steering Block attached to the pivot ball on both sides of the car. Where the pivot ball sits in the caster block seems like a weak point imo, the older ones just have the sleeve through the caster block, while the new one has sleeves going into pivot balls in the caster block, and the plastic around the pivot balls have a few weak points when you look at them. So, don't go crashing at the end of the straight with it, you'll do some damage to your own car lol. When I bought it, he gave me all the spare parts that he got with it which is enough to almost make a 2nd car, just needed a chassis and a few other pieces ... now just have to put it together. Thanks Gary very kind.. .... Absolutely agree mate the racing at MB can look a little intimidating at first glance my advice is to stick your head in at an event and just ask someone to talk you through the racing and how it works re when to get up and race / marshal etc you'll find 90% of people are really happy to talk you through things....... Myself I travel around 50mins for MB Raceway depending upon the traffic and Bury metro will be 30 mins as I'm up near saddleworth.... I'm in the same boat really mate for any outdoor meetings this year as I have never done one either and it's the basics like charging a battery that I need to organise do they plug in to a car battery? Is there on site power? Do I need to bring a loo?😂 You know the essential stuff.... Cheers for watching and commenting mate have a Top week

Always fun to watch your races, I sit on the edge of my seat for the "ooo" and the "aaaah" factors along with the instant hand over eyes to not see what I've just seen lol. Third to last hurts (read my story below though). It was interesting to watch at the 6:03 point in the race when you mentioned the race leader coming up on you and all of a sudden it looked like you ran your fastest lap at that point, hitting the insides on almost all of the corners for the lap ... betting that was probably your 16.6s lap as you pulled away from the leader while doing it, and were passing others pretty much perfectly! Nice lap that one! Oh, incidentally, I get stressed when I have someone pushing me along, but I find that it does improve my lap times by 0.2s to 0.3s lol. On to my own story now (apologize for the length, but thought you might grab your coffee and enjoy a short read). Yesterday we ran our 2nd club race of the season and guess who forgot to put his GoPro on for his 2 mains? UGH!!! They were probably my best 2 races of the year racing with my son coming close to the top racers in the club in the same race! Anyway, my son and I both run 13.5T 4wd buggies, and 17.5T 2wd buggies (those are the classes of choice at our club for the most part). My sons favorite is the 4wd (RC10B74.2) for its speed, and his 2wd (RC10B7) for its handling, but drove amazing in his RC10T6.4 Stadium Truck lapping the field in each of the qualifiers, sometimes twice, getting the TQ in Stadium Truck! Then, in the Truck main ... crashes on the 2nd lap to go from 1st to last LOL. I was watching live results on liverc.com (which is what we use for our races here) rather than watching the race (makes me nervous) and saw it on there in the results ... 1st to 8th. Next lap 6th, then 5th, then 3rd, then he was right on 2nd and passed him (which coincidentally is his "benchmark" competitor to beat as he won the season for Stadium last year), then a few laps later 1st for the rest of the race. So, 1st to last to 1st in 10 laps (see, you can do it too Bren LOL), a full second a lap faster on his top 10 laps than 2nd place (ok, marginally bigger gap than your 0.2s fastest lap comparison), and on par with the buggies. In his 4wd quals he came in after 2 (of 3) quals complaining about how slow the other buggies are out there ("why are they so slooooow?") as he rear ended them a dozen times in both quals coming up on them too fast (LOL ... I think I was one of them). 3 of the 8 in that class were quick, the other 5 were not (I was the fastest of the slowest finishing a good 3 or 4 laps behind the 3 fast guys to give you a perspective lol). Anyway, he figured it out in the 3rd qual and ranked 2nd for the Main ... unfortunately the 3rd place car (a friend of ours) was as quick as him and made my son nervous between 2 tabletops during the main, my son lost control for a split second and brake checked to get control and got rear ended by the other racer who squawked on the stand "why did you brake check me????" He apologized after the race, it wasn't intentional, and finished 3rd behind him anyway. He told me on the drive home he was trying to get out of his way at the time, and each time our friend was behind him he would try to pull wide to let him go through (like it was a qualifier). I was like "No, hold him off, but don't brake check him lol. That's what the mains are all about!" He didn't want to upset our friend by holding him up though, so let him through (which is what we typically did as a rule of thumb before he suddenly figured out how to drive lol). Our friend said he's going to take him out next race during practice and run behind him for some laps to get him used to competition trying to pass him and hold them off! I did that when we were both in Novice, but there's no way I can keep up to him now to apply any pressure ROFL, I can't even drive in front of him to hold him off, he'll instantly find a hole in my line and get through, which he was doing by the 3rd qual and the main to me anyway. Racers are a family, and we're all learning. My son has only found the pace of the faster racers less than a dozen races ago (and was my level of speed prior to that, suddenly it all "clicked" - probably due to also trying On Road carpet at the time), so he's not used to dealing with fast guys on his backside that he can also easily keep up to now (following can be easier than blocking as you can run tighter than the car your pursuing typically, and they give you a target to focus o for your line - until you're brake checked lol). Lastly, I bought a used B7 which he tried out and absolutely LOVES! He qualified and finished 2nd in 17.5T buggy against one of our fastest racers around here: we had a big race here a few weeks ago and both my son and I presented terribly at it (C main for 4wd, and B main for him in 2wd), I out qualified him in 4wd for the mains! The winner of the 2wd class (both mod and 17.5) was the racer we had this weekend, and my son kept up to him and was even in front of him numerous times during the weekend, finishing seconds behind him in the main! He may have made a podium finish if he had the B7 and drove like that during the big event! If you read this far, thanks for reading, had to get it off my chest as I don't have any footage to share (DOH!) Thanks for sharing Bren, always a pleasure to watch your races (I'm an off road racer, but also like to watch the on road and your "mini" races) Fhuz oot!

Wow just finished reading (analysing) the rest mate.... Few questions what's the switch that has suddenly transformed your lads pace in comparison to the previous few months? If you can pin point something specific that is.... Obviously you guys run 2wd... 4 wd and stadium trucks (truggies?) do you think it's a good idea to run the separate classes on the same event as track time is track time or do you find it to be a problem to keep switching as the characteristics of the platforms as so different it trips you up on the day??? Santa is due to bring me a (nearly new) B7 so after Christmas I'm hoping to make some much better progress.... Thabks for watching mate and I enjoy the comments regardless of the length... Have a Top week pal.

@@BrensRCracing so, what do I think made the difference for Patch? I honestly think it was indoor on road that did it. When we first started racing in Novice we (ahem) didn't use our brakes. Don't laugh, small steps right? When we started On Road I had him practice using the brakes to go into a corner tight, load up the front end, and dart out the other side (not optimum, but I used it as a teaching mechanism at the time). Once he figured out how the brakes worked, he started trying to get in tighter in Off Road ... then he tried timing his landings on jumps, especially if there's a corner immediately after, and just got better from that point on. Me? Well, I'm a different beast as I still have difficulty doing all that as my hand motor skills are (shall we say) lacking. As for multiple classes, for my opinion track time is track time. For carpet our 4wd doesn't handle a lot different than the 2wd, but the 4wd has more power and speed so can get out of corners quicker. If we only had one class we'd be sitting around for 2 hours between races with 11 to 13 (or more) qualifiers per round due to so many classes the club runs in a club race. Now Stadium is a different story. It took my son a bit to be able to go back and forth between that one and the buggies, as the tires are wider so he was clipping the pipes on corners early on .. and that caused him to dislike the class compared to the other 2. Now, though, he's gotten used to flipping between all 3 classes in a single day, and was getting about the same number of laps in all 3 races (about 27 laps in 5 min last race day). Our club has the bad habit of putting your car on the track and immediately turning practice laps, so he gets in 3 or 4 laps before they line up for the run, and that helps him get the feel for which ever vehicle he's running in the race .. he'll sometimes clip a few corners wrong in the warm up laps which gets that out of his system early on. On Road we were running just one class, and my son hasn't run in over a year because of that. Now I have 2 (older) XRAYs for him, and 2 (newer) XPRESS for me. The XRAYs handle a lot better than the cheeper XPRESS cars, you can really feel the difference and it shows in the times. When Associated comes out with the new on roads I'll be getting a couple for him and upgrade myself to the 2018 XRAYs (from the 2024 XQ2S). Thanks again for your time, always interesting to chat, and love your channel as you have a similar driving style to my own. Fhuz oot
