I have a favorite. Your channel. 😉 Very pretty dress. Also, the things you shared are beautiful. The Persuasion book I may have drooled a little. 😂 Thats my favorite Austen book. Was thrilled you picked it for the club. There were two more books 📚 I will look into. (War among Ladies and Elizabeths Lists). Enjoyed this very much. Thank you Miranda. Hope you have a wonderful trip. Hello to your mum too. 📚💕💕
That’s so kind, Diane, thank you! I’m so happy you loved the things I shared too! Those two look so fascinating to me too. I’m tempted to take at least one on my trip! ❤️📚
It’s fun to see the paraphernalia of another bookish person! Feminine dresses, art, stationary, ect is all up my alley. Being in the U.S., I wonder about shipping but the British Crime Classics is a yes. And the idea of a monthly clothes rental business is brilliant!! I’ve heard of renting special occasion dresses but not a monthly subscription.💖💐😊📚
Such a wonderful video, so many great recommendations! Love the Persuasion edition with the enclosed letter, a must get! The Cure for Sleep look interesting as well as Antonia Fraser's latest looks great. Thank you for letting us know about LK Bennet, you always look so beautiful!
Hi, dear Miranda, I’m thankful that I found the titles in the description box… from Magpie murders over Lists to Agatha Christie: it’s like a mouthwatering buffet. I’m a very bookish person, too and I like to draw, so I extra enjoy the wonderful editions you’re showing. I kind of like the idea of 'renting a dress' but I’d fear to ruin it with something, tea or blueberry jam… I’m in Denmark and picking wild apples everywhere. Maybe I’ll make a good apple crumble today, one of my favourites, decorated with some last blackberries, also growing on our ground. We’re living in an old house from 1765 and although the furniture is new, I love the old vibes, perfect for reading inside and outside. Happy reading for you, too, love Monika❣
@@MirandaMills It was delicious! We now enjoy our holiday home and the vibes from old times, but when we arrived after 10 hours car travel we were shocked, it was so dirty, they hadn’t cleaned… so we started with a good scrub. The next day holidays started and nice weather and a view to the sea shore invited to sit sit and read…and read… 😁.
I just adore you and I'm greatful to have found you! You are sweet and genuine and informative! I love your book recommendations and all the videos that also include your mum! I love the relationship you both share it's truly heartwarming 💖 your food and tea segments oh just delightful!! Thank you for all your work you do to bring us your lovely videos of your life and experiences! Love, Stacey from New England, Maine USA
Dear Miranda, thank you so much for another charming and very interesting video! For me the biography of Agatha Christie and two poetic books sound just wonderful. Have a very good trip!
Dear Miranda, thank you, as always, for your lovely videos. They make my day, week... I couldn't believe my ears when I heard you are coming to Croatia. I hope you have a wonderful time! Sending you and your mum lots of greetings from Zagreb, Croatia! Tina
I love your favorites videos! They’re always so interesting. I always make a list of the books you recommend and are enjoying reading and I wish I could read them all, although sadly, I’ve never been able to read that fast! 😅 I really love when you recommend books for whatever season is upcoming. I think they add a little something extra to the season. I’ve been reading The Fortnight in September and just started reading Green is For Danger and I’m really enjoying both of them. Have a wonderful trip and I’m looking forward to The Comfort Book Club video this month!
Beautiful video! I watched the first two episodes of Magpie Murders and enjoyed them a lot 🤗 thank you for mentioning it, and for the very interesting book recommendations: I added a few on my "want to read" list on Goodreads. Also, I wanted to thank you for talking about Kaweco in one of your previous videos, I really like their color nuances for fountain pen's refills. I hope that you had a lovely time in Croatia! Have a great weekend, looking forward to your next video! 🌸🤗
I have been admiring all the beautiful dresses you’ve been wearing, they are all quite lovely. The copy of Persuasion is gorgeous and I love the letters tucked inside. I’m excited for you on your upcoming trip and for us on the posts I’m hoping you’ll be able to share with us🥰 the Rose stationery set is very pretty and I love the notebooks! I had noticed the candleholder in some of your posts and am happy to know where it came from. I get their emails and check everything out usually but I’ve missed it so far. I think it’s perfect for this time of year especially. And of course, the books all sound wonderful. I can’t help but also say how much I love the vignette behind you. I’ve admired the vase every time I’ve seen it and I am enchanted by the little owl🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Thanks so much, Sandy! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. The Closet and Botts candleholders really are very autumnal in feel and really appeal to me! The little owl is an Emma Bridgewater piece, and I really love it too! xxx
Another very enjoyable favourites video, Miranda. The dress hiring scheme sounds marvelous, and I particularly like the dress you are wearing in this video - very soft and feminine. We watched 'Magpie Murders' and found it really intriguing and cleverly done - a great watch! Have a wonderful trip to Croatia, and happy reading!
Oh, it sounds so lovely to have apples and plums and blackberries growing in one's garden. We live by the arctic circle so no such trees can survive here. (We have a lot of wild berries though) I am so happy you have chosen Persuasion for October! My favourite Jane Austen.
We’re very lucky here in the UK to have so often bountiful apples, soft fruits etc this time of year. I’m sure your wild berries are very appreciated! So happy it’s your favourite Austen as well, Henrietta!
This was a treat as always, Miranda. And everything so pertinent! The books, of course, always, and I'm particularly looking forward to Bittersweet. But I've been trying to find a good, reasonable foundation and now I know which one I'll be having a look at tomorrow. Thank you! Enjoy Croatia. It's beautiful. Bon voyage ✈️
Thank you, Miranda, for this lovely video!🌷Magpie Murders is now on my kindle. For a month or so I’ve been daily enjoying reading two of Allie Esiri’s books you recommended in the past, A Poet for Every Day of the Year and Shakespeare for Every Day of the Year. Now I’ve added A Happy Poem to End Every Day for my Christmas wishlist together with both Susan Cain’s books🎄That Pepin writing set is beautiful! I’ve been happily using their William-Morris and Art-and-Crafts wrapping paper for quite a while. Have a great time in Dubrovnik!
I am drawn to all things floral as well. I love your cards and the journals. Bittersweet sounds like a book I would enjoy. I did not read the first one so as an introvert I am excited to find that one. Thank you for the lovely video. I enjoyed my evening tea while watching it.
That's great to hear, Stephanie! I love to picture viewers sitting down to watch with a cup of their favourite beverage too! Quiet is a real favourite of mine so hope you enjoy it too if you can find a copy!
A very happy weekend to you and your Mum! I’ve just finished The Lark and am now beginning to read Death of Jezebel which I got in London. All your recommendations are quite tempting 😍.
We had Magpie murders as our Easter crime ( a tradition in Norway- everyone watches crime over the holiday) and it was really good. Thanks for this lovely video - such fun .
Oh, Miranda, I am sure you will really enjoy reading War Among the Ladies! It was an absolute page-turner even though it becomes clear soon in that the ending will be rather bleak. Eleanor Scott is such a deft storyteller, she treats all her characters with an even hand, none of them is a helpless victim and none of them is the true villain, the absolutely draconian education scheme of the time is the true beast. I was intrigued to learn that Eleanor Scott was so well known as a horror writer and hope to order the Randalls Round collection of short stories from British Library well before Halloween. If I have not done so previously, I want to thank you so much for introducing me to the British Library during the pandemic, I have enjoyed so many of their releases, including the crime classics and know that I will continue to so! Have a wonderful weekend! 😺
Thanks so much, Anne! I'm so glad you've been enjoying the BL publications! They really are so much fun. I think you're so right regarding the Scott: it looks just my sort of book! Enjoy your weekend too!
What a fabulous post of your favourites and latest book haul. I love the idea of the book subscription and think it's very reasonably priced. The crumble sounds delicious, it is a favourite autumnal pudding of mine - I just recently made a blackberry and apple one with free apples from a lady that keeps donkeys in local field and berries that I picked from the hedgerow. 'Butter' sounds as if it will have many more mouth-watering recipes. The Pepin Press stationery is gorgeous! The candle and holder are delightful too. Magpie Murders sounds a good watch, but unfortunately, I don't have Brit Box. I am adding so many of your recommended books to my wish list but particular stand out titles that I'd like to get soon are Final Acts, A Home for all Seasons, Elisabeth's Lists, Bittersweet and Landlines. I very much enjoyed Raynor Winn's The Salt Path though haven't yet read the second title. I do hope you have a wonderful trip to Dubrovnik. I am having a few days away in Dorset soon which I am looking forward to. Take care and thank you.
Thanks so much for your kind words, Karen! How charming to have donkeys in a nearby field, and apple and blackberry crumble (with custard at our house!) is such a delicious autumnal pudding! Hope you have a wonderful trip yourself in lovely Dorset! X
This was lovely and as always I find I want everything you highlight in your "favorite things" video. The stationary, beautiful edition of Persuasion and your pretty dresses stand out in particular. (I think I would have a difficult time returning the dresses.) Glad to hear you and your Mom enjoyed "Magpie Murders". It will be broadcast in the US in mid October on PBS and I am very much looking forward to viewing it. Loved the book and also am a fan of Lesley Manville. I am excited to hear that Susan Cain has a new book and it sounds like one I would love to read. As an introvert, "Quiet" made such an impression on me and enabled me to move from being embarrassed about my bookish, shy nature to embracing what was unique about my personality. Have a wonderful trip to Croatia. How exciting!!
Thanks so much, Nancy! As a fellow introvert, I know just what you mean about Quiet! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video! I’m very excited about Croatia!
So many lovely things! I especially love the candle and candle holder - they are so nice for fall. Many of the books look wonderful, but I am especially interested in Elizabeth's Lists. The concept sounds so interesting. I am a list maker, keeping a notebook where I brainstorm, takes notes, copy quotes and write lists. I always wonder what these things say about me and what they would say to those who come after me. So, I would love to read what the author learned about her grandmother.
Thank you so much, Gretchen! I’m enjoying the candleholders and short candles so much: as you say, especially nice in autumn. I’m so happy Elizabeth’s Lists intrigued you too. 📚🕯
I really enjoy your favourite things videos! I’ve been admiring the beautiful new dresses you’ve been wearing recently, so I was interested to know where they’re from. A lot of them remind me of the elegant styles of the 1930’s. I love the pretty stationery and the Choosing Keeping notebooks too. All the books sound so good, I especially love the two poetry anthologies. Thank you for another inspiring video!
Hello Miranda, I adore your favourite things videos! I loved everything from the floral fabrics to the floral stationery set, to the book haul. I have War Among Ladies on order, and will next order Plumley's and Winn's books. Glad to hear you will be visiting Croatia. Do you have advice for what comfort books us book comrades might take on holiday? I have one coming up over Christmas, and feel panic without having access to my favourite books. I could try to stuff books in my pockets like the Provincial Lady (I wonder if you have such dilemmas too?) 🙂. Anyway, I am rambling now, and shall end by wishing you a safe and wonderful trip to Croatia 🇭🇷 😊. Best wishes, Jason
I think you read my mind, Jason, because I am just now trying to decide what book(s) to bring!! I know on this kind of trip, I'll be kept very busy and will have hardly any reading time, but of course I still want to bring some books. I'd recommend Mary Stewart for fun escapist reading when you're on holiday! As, for me, I'm tempted to bring along War Among Ladies - it sounds so good! But I think I'll leave the actual decision for the morning when my brain is in gear... Have a lovely weekend! xxx
@@MirandaMills Hello Miranda, just a note to say thank you so much for the Mary Stewart recommendation; I just looked her works up on the internet, and I am so excited to have make more room on my shelves. Jason
Thank u Miranda for giving the weekend a good start! I also have Babel on my table but I think it will be soooo good so if a start reading it, it soon will be over and then I do not have it to look forward to… I know I am silly but it is something special first time u read a really good 📖. If I do not like it so much I will be angry I did not pick it up earlier.😏 I know first world book lovers problem😂. Have a great trip and enjoy the world again - many of us need it after two years of very little traveling.
I'm so excited to be travelling again too, Ingert! I understand the feeling of wanting to "save" a special read for a special moment! I'm not bringing Babel with me (to big for my handbag!), but will enjoy getting back to it when I return!
I'm really excited by that new title in the BL Women Writers series! The one time I went to Choosing Keeping, it was closed lol - just my luck! Will try again soon. Hope you had a lovely time in Croatia, Miranda!
Oh ! Fabulous vlog! I love your book hauls & your favourite things vlogs so much!😍 I love the dedication to the Man in the train from War among ladies. Since in Australia has a teachers shortage. Our teachers are quitting in droves..Our Government is considering major pay rises - AUD$120,000 per year! 🥵 See how that goes....😂 Thank you Miranda you and your Mum are so delightful! 😍from 🇦🇺🦘🇦🇺
Hi Miranda, thank you for sharing your favourite things and I loved them all. I think War Among Ladies sounds very interesting and I also have Babel by R F Kuang and am glad to hear you are enjoying it already. Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you have an enjoyable time on your coming trip, Teresa 📚🍂🧳♥
Hi Miranda, thank you for such a beautiful video. The British Crime Seiries really Interests me, I wonder if they ship to Australia? I can't wait to read Agatha Christie also. I hope you have an amazing trip, what books will you be travelling with? 🙂
Thanks so much, Liz! I believe it' is an international subscription, but I'm sure they'd be able to answer any queries about subscribing from Australia. I've chosen 3 (just in case!). Two mentioned here - War Among Ladies and Final Acts.
I'm so grateful for the LK Borrowed recommendation! My wardrobe feels completely stale but I've been utterly unable to decide on new clothes to buy! I'm really excited to try renting for a little while and see if that can help me find a style, or even just a few pieces that I absolutely love. I've been in awe of your beautiful dresses lately - lovely to know where they're from! I used your referral link so hope it worked :) I love these favourite things videos; always find such delights contained within!
If I may I would like to recommend Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings’ book CROSS CREEK. She, by the use of descriptive words, transports the reader quickly to the rural Floridian life of the 1930-40. Her words paint a portrait of the characters that dwell in a world of their own. I also what to that you for all the videos you make that have enriched my life.
Thank you for this video Miranda. I will look out for the book by Lucy Worsley since I really enjoy her history documentaries. She has a really interesting delivery, I think. Just wondering if she still wears that hairpin…(?) No doubt her take on Agatha Christie will be fascinating.
Hello Miranda, I have discovered your channel a couple days ago and I am absolutely charmed by everything you depict of yourself and your life on this channel. In this video you mention that you like books about generations of women, so I would strongly recommend you read "The Eighth Life" by Nino Haratischwili a Georgian author. You need this book in your life :) Love, Sof
😀💕xx thanks Miranda for your really interesting vlog as always. I recently read both the salt path and the wild silence whilst on holiday in Somerset Devon and Cornwall and absolutely loved them. I have her third about Scotland, landlines, on order from my library. At the moment I’m reading Seven Steeples by Sara Baume and really loving it. Some great book choices. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for those kind words, Sue! I'm really looking forward to reading Landlines too. From what I've heard, it's another incredibly moving read. Hope you get yours from the library soon!
Dear Miranda, Ivana, your Croatian follower here! So good that you will be visiting our country. If you happen to be in Zagreb, I would love to offer you a sightseeing tour of Zagreb center (lasts about an hour and it would be free, of course). Please feel free to contact me. But anyway, have a wonderful time in Croatia! 🤗
That is very kind, thank you! We are going to Dubrovnik, and will be well taken care of by the tourist board there, I know! I am very excited to visit Croatia for the first time 😊❤️
For your US viewers: Magpie Murders is coming to PBS in October
What an absolute treat your vlogs are. Thank you.

‘A Happy Poem to end Every Day’ sounds absolutely delightful ❤
I’ve been really enjoying it!
Thank you so much Miranda - I love the idea of renting the dresses, better for the planet and also lots of fun!

Jason
Oh wonderful! Hope you enjoy them!
The Case of the Married Woman will definitely be in my next book order!
It’s fascinating so far, Mary!
Raynor Winn's books are the very rare covers which are the same in the german edition !!!
😍from 🇦🇺🦘🇦🇺
So happy to hear you enjoyed the adaptation of ‘Magpie Murders’!

Two mentioned here - War Among Ladies and Final Acts.
fishing my breakfast watching this video❤
Hope you enjoy it!
That's great! I certainly find it a brilliant service! xxx

That’s so kind of you to say, Cristina, thank you! I’m so glad you enjoy them 😊❤️
Thank you for this warm video .
I recommend that you put a link for LK so it’s easier to use your referral link . As the one below is not a link .
It’s the way it’s formatted - it is a link, but you have to copy & paste into the url
Thanks Much !

Thanks so much, Luana! I'm very pleased you enjoy the videos.I don't know Cross Creek so thank you too for the recommendation.
Thank you for this video Miranda. I will look out for the book by Lucy Worsley since I really enjoy her history documentaries. She has a really interesting delivery, I think. Just wondering if she still wears that hairpin…(?) No doubt her take on Agatha Christie will be fascinating.
I’m really enjoying it so far, Karen! Yes, her style is wonderful. She really brings history alive in her documentaries.
Omg I almost jumped the gun and commented WHERE DID YOU GET THAT DRESS, approximately 30 seconds before you mentioned it. 🙈
Loved everything!
So glad, Courtney!
Thank you Miranda, I so enjoy your favourites video's. I hope you have a wonderful trip x

HI Miranda!!!
