Hello Miranda. I'm Elias from Lebanon. I've recently been following your channel as I am a book lover too, and I would like to thank you for the nice content. I find your videos so respectful and interesting. I wish I could visit London some day and the bookstores there. I've started reading books consistently since 2015, though a bit late, but reading is such an amazing experience, and booktubers like you inspire readers and we feel that with you we have a good company. Thanks again.
Miranda, this vlog was delightful and such a relaxing and intimate view of London. The gardens, cafes, bookstores and exhibitions were all lovely. Your footage of Chelsea was of particular interest to me having just finished the wonderful "A Chelsea Concerto" and I very much enjoyed your interview with Rebeka Russell. Her books are stunning and I was impressed by her attention to detail as she created the volumes. I'm glad you and your Mom had such a nice time.
Thanks so much for those kind words, Nancy. I'm so glad you enjoyed A Chelsea Concerto so much too! Yes, Rebeka's books are so gorgeous, and it was lovely to get to chat in person and see Manderley Press HQ! We did indeed have a very nice time.
Those green earrings are just gorgeous. It's lovely to get to see you and Rebekah getting along so well and enjoying your time together. And it's always heartwarming to glimpse the bond you and your mum share. You were able to fit in so many wonderful exhibits and shops! Thank you for taking time out of your holiday to share these highlights. It really is a treat to see literary and culinary London through your eyes.
Miranda, I'm so looking forward to cosying up tonight to watch all of this, but first, I just want to thank you for delaying posting this out of respect to the Queen passing. I know you must have really been looking forward to sharing this with us and I think it's so kind that you waited a few days. Thank you! ❤
It’s great that you can take a sad accident like dropping a camera and see it as an opportunity to enjoy the moment to moment pleasure of your trip. I was sad when Persephone’s London bookshop closed as well and the Dickens museum really is a delight.
I so enjoyed this video of your and your mum's trip to London with all the recommendations of places to see and books to read!!! Many thanks!! It was a delightful video!
Thank you Miranda, for taking us along with you on your favourite haunts across the streets and boroughs of London. It was fabulous, and delightful to see the literary cats and watch the visit with Manderley Press. Perfect video to start my week. All the best, Jason
Such a beautiful trip to London. You are so lucky to be able to see all those wonderful places. Thank you for sharing it with us. I also wanted to send you and the British people my sincere condolences on the passing of Queen Elizabeth. She was Queen my whole 68 years of life. I admired her very much. Anyways, thank you Miranda, I always enjoy your vlogs and look forward to seeing you next time. Take care. 📚🤗👍💕
Oh wow! I'm a Londoner and love museums ( + museum shops & cafés ) but I had no clue the Garden Museum existed! On my list now of places to visit and I'm pleased to see that it's not too crowded! Thank you Miranda & Donna xx
So happy to check on UA-cam on this rainy Sunday morning and see your always lovely and cozy vlogs! Seriously is a highlight of my day so far. Your trip looks amazing!
So delighted to see this posted and thoroughly enjoyed it. You look absolutely gorgeous throughout. As many Americans I have been saddened by the Queens passing. She was an exceptional woman. Thank you again Miranda 💓
This was so lovely, thank you. I thought the new camera gave a really crisp image. Rebeka looks and sounds like a lovely lady I completely agree a kindred spirit! I was intrigued by your comments about Middlemarch, it is one of the novels I feel I ought to have read yet I always end up putting it down and not finishing it. Maybe your wise counsel will be just what I need. Thrilled to have you back looking so chirpy x
Oh, the lovely fabrics on the couch and pillows behind you and Rebekah the lovely fabric prints behind you and Rebeka on her couch and pillows! They remind me of the beautiful prints chosen for Persephone Books offerings.
¡Gracias! Thank you Miranda for the lovely video. I have loved travelling with you to London and all the wonderful places you have recommended. I hope to actually enjoy them in person one day. Kind regards. 🥰
Thanks, Miranda! I thoroughly enjoyed your London Vlog. I am a huge fan of gardens, in general, and The Secret Garden in particular, so it was a wonderful treat to follow your tour of some beautiful gardens and museums.
Thank you so much for your lovely and interesting vlog. I live in London and I am glad you made me discover a new museum which I had never heard of until now. (The Garden Museum). Loved the bookshops and your lovely mugs
I loved this episode. It reminded me of my bookish wanderings in London and Oxford with my daughter who was over from Australia. I have ordered a copy of The Happy Reader as I am reading Middlemarch at the moment, and I think it would add to the experience. I am a mug addict too!
I must have shadowed you around London! I loved the Reframed and the Beatrix Potter exhibitions and I got both catalogues to savour this winter. I lived in London several decades ago and always love to go back, and harking back to the days when only printed books were available and had to be ordered specially from England or purchased and hauled back to France in very heavy suitcases, I get tempted and tend to buy too many books (I drive my car across the Channel so that’s not an issue at all! 😉). This time I was quite interested in children’s fiction and the wonderful covers, how can children not be attracted to reading? Thank you again for the inspiration to discover so many beautiful things!
🎯🌺Greetings Miranda,A wonderful upload from You,having all the details of your recent visit to London..All the places that you visited are indeed lovely & enjoyed having a glimpse of those lovely gardens, museums, cafés,your personal new book collections, lovely mugs & those cards.Love those two sweet cats Leo & Simba.Enjoyed this upload as always.Thank You & much goodwishes as always.Good Day🙏♾️🌾
What a delightful Sunday afternoon you gave to me as you describe your experiences in London. Your mother is so very charming! Hi from the San Francisco Bay Area!
Lovely video as ever. I loved The Secret Garden exhibition too. I’ve discovered a great podcast you’d both enjoy through BBC Sounds: Shedunnit. It’s about golden age fiction etc.
A beautiful and inspiring video, Miranda! Loved seeing all of the places you visited. The gardens were so wonderful! I hope (someday) to be able to visit London and Chelsea. Happy Belated Birthday to your mom - Many happy wishes and good health for the whole year, Donna! 🥰❤🌸🌷 Thank you so much for giving me so many minutes of bookish joy! 🤩🌟📚
What a delightful vlog! My heart has been so heavy since the Queen’s passing and this has been such a breath of much needed lightness and comfort. I love the earrings Donna bought for you and I have so enjoyed all the museums and gardens and cafes and shops. Thank you both for taking us with you. 💕
This was a perfect ending to late summer. I love seeing London. I lived there for a few years and feel like I saw absolutely nothing! The mini Penguin hardbacks you picked up were lovely. I think I'll get the Virginia Woolf one when it comes out. Rebeka from Manderley was so nice and the new book is definitely my cup of tea. Middlemarch is one of my favourites, but it's certainly a commitment. Thank you for this, Miranda. It was just what we all needed after what's been a sad few days.
So much fun to watch you and Donna on holiday! You both seemed to thoroughly enjoy yourselves. I have been a mental traveler since COVID began, and your videos are such a welcome change of scenery. Thank you as always, for sharing your life and adventures.
Just love the white blouse and bee necklace you are wearing in the last segment! Enjoyed this video and as always wrote down several book titles to look for.
Pure Pleasure! ..and so many London treasures to discover...Chelsea, the gardens, the museums the shops and even that cat.So much fun meeting Rebeka and learning more about Manderley, I must say your enthousiasm was catching as we could see how much you enjoyed your visit ( I think I will order their latest) ..Thanks Miranda and Donna for this beautiful interlude in a emotion filled week.
How fun! I also love robins (both English and North American varieties) and the British Crime Classics series. Thanks for taking us along on your trip!
Living abroad I enjoyed seeing these gardens and also the bookshops. You give me many ideas for reading. I just got 'Greengates' by RC Sherriff. I think it is good also that you mention children's books, for example Alison Uttley. I have started re-reading many children's books which I read 45-50 years ago. I might be wrong, but I think you mentioned Rosemary Sutcliff. I re-read some of her books last year. The point being adults can still enjoy these books. Susan Cooper is an author who comes to my mind in this respect. By the way, I recommend 'The Little Apple Bookshop' in my home town York. Independent bookshops need supporting, as do publishers like Manderley Press.
So enjoyed this charming tour of London. So well crafted, I felt as if I was there. Condolences from here in the U.S. on the passing on the passing of Queen Elizabeth.
What a super vlog. Always so soothing to listen to your experiences and recommendations, especially at the moment with our dear Queen's passing and the sadness of her funeral yesterday. I have made a note of Medlar, it sounds like a perfect place for lunch next time I am in London. And oh! your poor Mum dropping your camera, I can just imagine how awful she felt about that! I loved the Beatrix Potter exhibition when I went earlier this year, I must have been there on a lucky day as it was very quiet and I was able to look closely at all the exquisite exhibits. I agree it was quite dark, but I loved the setting with all the light panels with little mice etc running along behind. You have now inspired me to buy the catalogue, I have hankered after it since the exhibition. Like you I am looking forward to Autumn, and your cosy videos from beside the fireplace in your lovely home. Thank you for all you do for your viewers, it really is appreciated x
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video, Penny, thank you! I hope you get to Medlar - it was such a lovely place for lunch! Many thanks for all your kind words xxx
Hi Miranda … I loved this blog, unsurprisingly as London is one of my very favourite places in the world plus I am a book nerd. I’ll be in London for 3 weeks in November and was already planning on going to the Beatrix Potter exhibition and revisiting The Physic Garden, however I was unaware of the Gardening Museum and I have added that to my list. Thank you for introducing it to me. Looking forward to your next vlog. Mel 🇦🇺
Glad it was useful for your upcoming trip, Mel! 3 weeks will give you lots of time to explore, and, yes, do visit the Garden Museum if you can. Enjoy your London holiday!
This was so informative but more especially it was a lovely watch. Dona looks so happy celebrating her special birthday for the, second time. Thanks for the time, effort and lovely relaxing vlog. 😌
You and your Mum are both looking so well. I have been eyeing off that Secret Garden copy. The exhibition looked wonderful. And that version of A Traveller in Time made me very nostalgic as I had that as a child.
What a treat! Thank you Miranda! I loved every bit of it. I'm so sorry about your camera. You did a great job of making the best of it. I'm reading Manderley Press version of The Armourer's House right now and it's such a wonderful story. The quality of the book is, like you said, so good. I'm excited to read Appointment with Venus. 😊
What a wonderful vlog Miranda! Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us! The Secret Garden exhibition just looks enchanting, I will have to try and get to it if it's still on. Your friend's cats are adorable by the way - such cute reading companions I expect!
Hello Miranda what a lovely trip . . those kitties were adorable . . sorry to hear about your camera . . what beautiful gardens you visited and book shopping . . glad you bought the last limited edition of the garden book . . cover was so beautiful Have a great week ahead enjoy your tea in that beautiful mug take care ❤️🙋♀️
Thank you for a beautiful channel. I have just started watching you….by way of Susan Branch, USA. I live in Texas,USA. Looking forward to viewing your content
Mina Lima has a gallery and shop at 157 Wardour Street, Soho. I adore their edtions of various classics. The Secret Garden one is very special. I love all the pretty things you've bought, the robin mug is gorgeous, and the lovely cards. I get all my own cards printed from my photos so have to try and resist buying too many, but I did buy a few during the recent Hampshire Open Studios event. Many of the counties do open studio events each year and it's well worth getting the brochure, having a browse and visiting a few that you like the sound of. I really enjoy looking at all the different types of art and crafts. There's a huge variety. the Chelsea Physic Garden looks delightful. So sorry about your camera, isn't it insured with your home contents insurance? The Manderley Press Books are beautiful. I would like to see Carlyle's House, along with another place I read about recently. I thought it was somewhere you would enjoy if you don't know it already. It's the ruins of St. Dunstan Church and the garden surrounding it. I would love to go there so it (and Carlyle's House) is added to my very long 'places to visit' list, should I ever get back to London. St. Dunstan's is between the Tower of London and London Bridge, on St Dunstan's Hill, EC3. Is Middlemarch an easy read? I've never read it and wonder if I should. Simba is a very beautiful cat. The Beatrix Potter exhibition would be wonderful but not being able to see the artwork clearly because of all the people is disappointing. I will definitely have a look for the catalogue. Many thanks for taking the time to share your trip.
Thanks so much for your kind comment, Karen! Yes, I do know and love the St Dunstan ruins and garden - so peaceful! I find Middlemarch an easy read, but it's definitely a long read so is a time commitment. It's definitely a classic well worth reading, in my opinion.
Lovely video as usual Miranda. I found that Salts Mill, Saltaire near Bradford had a good selection of cards in the gallery showing David Hockney's paintings. There is also a lovely cafe, bookshop and homeware shop on the floor above.
Thank you! Yes, I went to Salts Mill last year and it is lovely! Quite a drive to get there, but I do want to go back soon as liked the bookshop a lot. xxx
Thanks Miranda. I’ve had a very difficult day at work and it’s been lovely to look at your vlog. We are planning a trip to the UK next year and I now have more London sites to add to my list 😀
I'm so sorry you were having a difficult day, Alexandra, but glad the vlog helped a little, and I'm happy it gave inspiration for your own London adventures!
Hi Miranda, a bit of an update, I received the Secret Garden for my birthday, I just started it and I love it! I also bought The Carlyle's at Home by Thea Holme, I haven't started that one yet but I am looking forward to it. Though I would love to go back to London, I simply can't afford it, so I found some virtual tours of The Carlyle House, one is from the National Trust so I will watch that and one other after I read it. Thank you for your suggestions.
I've only read two Jane Austen books, and Lady Susan is one of them -- so witty! That edition is lovely! This was such a pleasure! Thank you for taking us around. Also Happy Belated Birthday to your mum! 🎂
Great video! Thank you and your Mum and friend at the flat for sharing your time. Why did you live in France and Switzerland and New York? Have you ever done a review on The Darling Buds of May for those not familiar with the book (H.E. Bates) and the series? Oh, Chelsea, thanks for taking us there!
Thank you so much for taking us along on your London holiday, it was so very enjoyable, and you've given me ideas for places to visit on my next trip! (Your earrings are stunning!) I don't see that anyone has mentioned this issue so far... why is the first part of your video in mirror image? Things are reading backwards. Greetings to your mum Donna, with whom I not only share a name but also a birth year!
Hi Miranda, I really enjoyed your vlog, it was so much fun to see London this way. I have never read The Secret Garden, in fact I have never seen the movie, in spite of the fact that I love Maggie Smith. So many booktubers recommend it, so I guess the next time I am book shopping I think I will pick up a copy of it. Isn't it funny this is well after you were reading it but I belong to the Shedunnit Book Club, it is an online club for GAD fiction. This month, Feb 2023 we are reading The Death Of Jezabel. I am about halfway through it. I am enjoying it but you're right the murder is really bonkers. I am curious what the solution will be and who is the murderer. I have suspected several people but I narrowed it down to three. Lovely interview with the publisher and I love a book lined room, so wonderful. Does she have a sliding ladder? That is a big dream. Thank you for the lovely travel vlog, I hope someday to come back to London and see all the sites you recommended.
Enjoyed your trip to London! I’m going next week, so great to get some visit ideas. I’d read Middlemarch along with you, if you decide to go for it. I’ve only listened to it on audible before, and I really enjoyed it.
I so much loved and enjoyed this vlog..... but, sorry, it was TOO SHORT !! 🤭 I could have watched for hours ❣️ Like your visits to York, discovering lovely book shops, cafés and stationery things. Would love to see more of those little journeys. 🙋🏼♀️
Thank u Miranda. A lovely vlog and now I need to go back to London and see everything I missed. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️ V&A exhibit with Beatrix Potter was a highlight for me in London this summer too. Now I wish for a cozy fall for u and your mom with many new books to enjoy.
Loved your vlog! It looks like such a wonderful trip to London. I’m curious what you purchased at Choosing Keeping. I saw you went there on Instagram if I’m not mistaken. And any other stationery. And what your mum bought! Lol. Obviously I’m vicariously living through you 🙃 Thanks for the lovely vlog! Sorry to hear about your camera.
There’s a lovely edition of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Harper Design, I got a copy as a gift from my boyfriend) - maybe you could start collecting them to add to The Secret Garden!
Haha! Already tempted to do just that, but resisting right now. Good to hear the Alice is a lovely edition as well though, Lotte. What a great gift from your boyfriend!
Hi Miranda I am glad that you and your Mom got to go to London and see all of the Beautiful Places that you went to. I am so glad that you bought yourself some Books while you was there and other gifts too. I love “The Secret Garden”. I have read this several times already. It’s one of my all time favorite books. Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗🔰
Oh, that's a shame about the camera. It looks like you two had a great trip and the two ragdoll cats are beautiful. I have that same copy of A Traveller In Time which was a surprise find in a secondhand bookshop.
I love London and this made me excited to plan to go this autumn as there are a couple of exhibitions o want to see - including Beatrix Potter which I saw on your Instagram page👍 I’d like to ask: where is the dress you are wearing at the beginning and in the Chelsea Physic Garden from? I love that style.
I followed a tons of booktubers on UA-cam,but you,Miranda,is the only one that makes my heart warm, watching you talk about books, baking, and traveling, even showing a new purchase like a mug, makes me feel that life is beautiful, how I wish I have a friend like you in real life,so that I can visit your lovely home and u and your mom!Keep the good work and post more videos please🫶🏻

I can’t agree more .
Totally agree 😊
I feel the same way!
Agree 🎉

It’s great that you can take a sad accident like dropping a camera and see it as an opportunity to enjoy the moment to moment pleasure of your trip. I was sad when Persephone’s London bookshop closed as well and the Dickens museum really is a delight.
Thanks so much, Eric! That's very kind, and yes, Persephone Bookshop is much missed in London, I agree.
I so enjoyed this video of your and your mum's trip to London with all the recommendations of places to see and books to read!!! Many thanks!! It was a delightful video!

Susan Cooper is an author who comes to my mind in this respect. By the way, I recommend 'The Little Apple Bookshop' in my home town York. Independent bookshops need supporting, as do publishers like Manderley Press.
Lovely to see you had such a nice holiday! 🌞
Thanks so much!
This is such a lovely vlog. Can’t wait to see more like this. ❤️💐✨
Thank you, Erin!
So enjoyed this charming tour of London. So well crafted, I felt as if I was there. Condolences from here in the U.S. on the passing on the passing of Queen Elizabeth.
Thank you so much ❤️
What a super vlog.

I'm so pleased I've come across your channel! Such lovely content. I'm feeling inspired to read, read read!
This was so informative but more especially it was a lovely watch. Dona looks so happy celebrating her special birthday for the, second time. Thanks for the time, effort and lovely relaxing vlog. 😌
Thanks so much, Bev! So happy you enjoyed the blog!
You and your Mum are both looking so well. I have been eyeing off that Secret Garden copy. The exhibition looked wonderful. And that version of A Traveller in Time made me very nostalgic as I had that as a child.
Wonderful vlog, Miranda! So relaxed and beautiful! Thank you for taking us along!
So glad you enjoyed it, Kathi!
Thanks so much, Elizabeth! I love both of those books and was so happy to discover Appointment with Venus in the beautiful Manderley Press edition.
I love your travel vlogs! Thank you for taking us along ❤️
Very happy to hearyou enjoyed it, Mary! Thank you!
What a wonderful vlog Miranda! Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us! The Secret Garden exhibition just looks enchanting, I will have to try and get to it if it's still on. Your friend's cats are adorable by the way - such cute reading companions I expect!
I hope you were able to make it to The Garden Museum in time, Emma! Thanks so much for the kind words!

So happy you enjoyed it all, Kathryn. A Traveller in Time is indeed a lovely book!
I was waiting for this Vlog! Considering the many recommendations you had, I was looking forward to it.
Thank you!
When I came over to England I went to Charles Dickson house it was really interesting and I got to stand next to his desk ….. ❤
Quite a drive to get there, but I do want to go back soon as liked the bookshop a lot. xxx
What a lovely trip to London. We saw the Beatrix Potter exhibition earlier in the year and absolutely loved it.
It was a wonderful exhibition, wasn't it? I'm so glad to have the catalogue too.
Aww you both got on so well x
I've only read two Jane Austen books, and Lady Susan is one of them -- so witty! That edition is lovely!
This was such a pleasure! Thank you for taking us around.
Also Happy Belated Birthday to your mum! 🎂
Thanks so much, Gina Marie! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
(Your earrings are stunning!)
I don't see that anyone has mentioned this issue so far... why is the first part of your video in mirror image? Things are reading backwards.
Greetings to your mum Donna, with whom I not only share a name but also a birth year!
Adorable video, super inspiring and lovely holiday!!! Keep on enjoying your wonderful trip with Donna!🥰
Thank you so much, Cristina! We had a fab time indeed!
@@MirandaMills I'm so glad to read that 🥰
Hi Miranda, I really enjoyed your vlog, it was so much fun to see London this way.
I’m so glad! I hope you enjoy your trip to London. I am tempted to read Middlemarch! Xxx
I so much loved and enjoyed this vlog.....
but, sorry, it was TOO SHORT !! 🤭
I could have watched for hours ❣️
Like your visits to York, discovering lovely book shops, cafés and stationery things.
Would love to see more of those little journeys. 🙋🏼♀️

V&A exhibit with Beatrix Potter was a highlight for me in London this summer too.
Now I wish for a cozy fall for u and your mom with many new books to enjoy.
Thanks so much, Ingert! London is there waiting for your next visit. and hoping you're enjoying all the books you bought there too!
I so enjoyed this trip with you and seeing the things you bought. I'm going to look up Christianna Brand.
That's great, Linda! I've so enjoyed the two mysteries I've read so far, and loved the Nurse Matilda stories when I was younger.
What a lovely vlog. Thank you.
So glad you enjoyed it, Sherlika!
Aw thanks for your lovely channel xxx
I loved this one, Miranda - I thought the iPhone camera was just fine!
Thanks so much, Rebecca!
Thanks so much, Courtney - it was a wonderful trip!
I was waiting for your upload :)
Thanks!
Thanks very much for your support, Karen! I really appreciate it ❤
Hi Miranda
I am glad that you and your Mom got to go to London and see all of the Beautiful Places that you went to. I am so glad that you bought yourself some Books while you was there and other gifts too.
I love “The Secret Garden”. I have read this several times already. It’s one of my all time favorite books.
Take Care & Happy Reading
❤️🤗🔰
Thanks so much, Linda! The Secret Garden is such a lovely book.
Oh, that's a shame about the camera. It looks like you two had a great trip and the two ragdoll cats are beautiful.
I have that same copy of A Traveller In Time which was a surprise find in a secondhand bookshop.
Great find, Lisa! It's such a good read!
I love London and this made me excited to plan to go this autumn as there are a couple of exhibitions o want to see - including Beatrix Potter which I saw on your Instagram page👍
I’d like to ask: where is the dress you are wearing at the beginning and in the Chelsea Physic Garden from? I love that style.
Have a wonderful London adventure, Ruth!
Awesome vlog! Here's my contribution towards a new camera!
Thanks so much for your support! It’s much appreciated xxx
🌻
Have you seen the film of Green for Danger? Quite atmospheric and slightly creepy.
No, but I'd love to do so and will look out for it!
Takk!
