    Probably the best statement I’ve heard explaining the berg the torque resistance of a pig or zone but the fade of a typical slightly overstable putter 💯

    I've been throwing Bergs for years. Similar you what you described, it is very much a disc that you build your approach game around. I think that is why it is so polarizing, it does not just fill a slot in the bag, it becomes a core feature of your entire game if it fits your approach style. If it fits your game there really isn't a disc that does it better than the Berg.

    • @ApolloDiscGolf

    Current bagging 5 Bergs. 2 K3 Soft for putting, 1 K3 Hard, 1 K1 Soft for steep hyzer approaches without skip, 1 K1 Glow for full power shots. Not sure if I'm going to keep putting with it but it's been so windy lately it's been pretty money for me

      Yeah, you've just really got to power the Berg for putting to get it in the basket, especially from outside the circle!

      I bag 2, K1 soft and regular K1. Both are amazing and fairly different. The regular K1 has the true 1102 flight rating and is great for higher power shots while the K1 soft is more like a 1101 or even 1100 but still has good torque resistance. I truly love the Berg, it brings me so much confidence out on the course.

    I really love how it sticks well on off camber ground and doesn't skip. It lands like a hamburger - and that is mostly how I use it. It is fairly wind resistant also when a glidey approach might be blown off course. It stays in my bag and I usually use it once or twice a game on my local woodsy uneven courses.

    I find that when I forehand my berg, which is decently new, it has just the right ammout of understability. Anything under 220 parked. I can get this disc going slightly left with forehand and holding it down the fairway, and that slight right finish just parks it. Have thrown this disc in 50+ feet forehand many times now. Holds the lines great. I love the mini S lines.

I can tell myself I don't really need one, but then I get to a 70m downhill hole, throw my anode with 20% power, and it'll glide 50m past the basket (I'm not even exaggerating). There are some holes and some approaches that just beg for a berg. And with it being such a unique disc, I think it's really special.

    One of a few discs that I can say instantly shaved strokes off my game. I bought it for those shots where it's hard to judge distance and I don't want to overthrow it, but I've found it to be useful for so much more. Everyone should bag it, or at the very least give it a try.

      I agree, everyone should at least try it out! It may or may not fit into everyone’s game. Like I usually have the opposite problem as you do… I always fluff my upshot’s and come up short if anything because I am more of a touch player… so I gravitate more towards approach discs with a little glide… but I can still appreciate the Berg! Super fun to throw!

  • @FurballMK3
    @FurballMK3 2 роки тому +1

    I'm a touch approach kind of person that also finds uses for every type of approach style. My most used approach disc is a Pure, zero soft or gold-x depending on distance, but because of the variety of course types and wind conditions near me I often rely on my A3, Praxis, and Berg to fill the gaps. One of the best uses I've found for the Berg is short drives/approaches with a raging tail wind. My other discs, no matter how much they want to get to ground, can still skip and bounce, expose the flight plate and take off on their own adventure far away from the basket. The Berg has a tendency to fly, drop, then sit. It doesn't care if it's being pushed by the wind, it will still drop, and drop flat. For me the Berg is not some holy grail that makes everything perfect, but it definitely has areas where it is the absolute best option, so it stays bagged.

    • @ApolloDiscGolf
      @ApolloDiscGolf  2 роки тому

    I found a Berg barely used in my local pro shop used bin. I threw it low and flat for my first warn up throw on whole 1. It went maybe 110ft, definitely had good snap out of my hand and felt great. However I prefer my Harp because I know exactly what it does on every angle I throw it. The Berg just feels like it needs more everything to do what I want. Still can't beat finding an Oakley K1 for $16 that had only been thrown once maybe.

    I’ve been struggling to find the putter that felt right for me. Even though I have fairly large hands the big domey putters everyone likes just feel wrong.
    Whatever putters were in my bag, I’ve had both a VIP Harp and a K1 Berg for different approach shots.
    But then I found the MVP Atom. Yes it’s flat and shallow, but for some reason it seems to increase the margin of error where I can miss my line and still sink my putt. Then I discovered I could hit most of my Berg lines with the Atom.
    I still have a Harp in my bag, but my Bergs are currently riding a shelf. And I rotate two of my five electron Atoms into my bag fairly regularly.

    • @ApolloDiscGolf
      @ApolloDiscGolf  2 роки тому +1

      The Atom is solid! And yeah, that’s the same reason I don’t really bag a berg. My putters can do something similar. But the glide definitely helps with people who just like to run the basket and not have a long comeback putt

    • @stthomasaquarius
      @stthomasaquarius 2 роки тому

      @@ApolloDiscGolf Thanks. I honestly have a little tendon twinge in my elbow when I rotate my wrist outward for putts so for anything past circle 1, I use a scoober.
      I find that wrist motion doesn’t hurt and I kind of get the best of both worlds. It’s a ballistic full send but the spinny upside down disc doesn’t skip. So I don’t have to decide between laying up and putting in circle 2. It’s both.

    I love all the nova discs I threw but they do not hold up. They cracked within three months

      Yeah, they do beat in quick since they are base plastic... I personally didn't have any of mine crack, but I have had some friends that stopped bagging them because they didn't hold their stability super long

    It throws like a rock with no character . It blows like your disc golf game .

    Don't bag it myself, more of a touch and angle approach shooter. Ask Luke from @swanky what he thinks of the Berg...

      Lol, I am aware of what Luke thinks! And for sure, if you are a touch player, than this disc doesn't offer much... But I still respect it for what it does! It's a great disc!

    People who throw bergs are like vegans, they are going to tell you about it. Don't get me wrong, the berg can be a great disc for the reasons already explained in the video but this disc is extremely overhyped. I have a k1 glow berg that I've used for short par 3 glow rounds and it works great for that. If you are thinking of getting one just don't go in thinking this disc is going to drastically change your game, there are plenty of discs that work great for the same purpose. Well done on the video! I enjoyed the layout and your insights!

      I’m a vegan berg thrower. People usually ask me about it when I park it around the basket in approach shots. I just have to remember to use something with more glide when I’m further out. Definitely drops quickly. Love the feel.
