For me, the hyzer approach actually works quite well with the Berg. It didn't look like you put enough hyzer on your approach. In my opinion they fade quite nicely when thrown with enough hyzer, but still nothing like any other disc. Other than that, nice video! Keep it up :D
to me it seemed like they were being thrown high and flat to see if they would hook up, rather than pure hyzer. the forehands were done pretty well though
Good video. I snagged a Dillo at the Lonestar booth back at TX States. I’ve thrown many comparison shots w/ it and the Berg since then. You’re pretty spot on in your analysis. The flight numbers seem pretty accurate. Flies a little longer w/ the glide and has a little less fade. Agree that the Dillo also feels comfy in the hand. It’s basically my slightly “longer Berg”. Lol. Nice job on the vid.
@@LoneStarDisc haha. Ya never know. Haven’t captured one on cam yet. Ohhh….but when I do. PS: I HAVE been putting w/ the Jackrabbit for a few months….but 🤫 🤫🤫
Don't know if you remember me asking about the Armadillo on your Lone Star Disc video, but I went out and bought the heaviest possible one I could find (glow 177g) to get that Berg-like flight and it's incredible. Laser-straight with great torque resistance. Love this video format BTW!
Glad you are enjoying the video format Salommy! And yeah, we most definitely remember you, not just from that comment either. To us, you are a staple JustDisc subscriber that we love hearing from ❤️ Glad you picked up an Armadillo and are loving it! Just like the Berg, it’s an incredible disc 👌
I’ve got a glow armadillo with a cool custom stamp with my local disc golf stores logo. The plastic feels amazing and it flies so good. I had a chance to get a glow berg that day too but the shop was asking more than I’d be willing to pay. I still want to get a k1 soft berg to test out.
I spoke with the Lone Star guys at the Masters World Championship recently, and I told them I would always throw the armadillo if it were just a bit more overstable, and maybe even more than a Berg. They said they have a TON of ideas and have plans to do a more overstable version of the Armadillo in the future, so I just consider it a matter of time! Great video, and thank you as always.
If you don’t like the thumbtracs on these discs I recommend a polecat. I recently picked up a couple polecats and compared them to a buddy’s berg. Flew almost the exact same just with the difference in feel.
Thanks for letting us know! Yeah, in the end, they are both great discs. I would agree that the Armadillo might feel better to some, but like you, I prefer the flight/stability of the Berg. We did hear that they are making another version of the Armadillo (little more overstable), but we’ll have to wait and see!
Welcome to the club! There is almost no reason to approach with anything else when 150ft and in! The only other approach disc you should carry is an overstable one. I myself use a pig and toro in addition to my Berg 👍
Oh, I'm a little old school at 53. Innova reissued the RAM. Overstable meathook! I'm bagging it again too. Loved it years ago. Reliable flex shots, extreme hyzers, chainsaw in the rough, headwind cutter, etc. I got two 180g DX plastic ones from Infinite Discs.l would love to hear your thoughts on this one. You know mine. If it's not the Berg approach, it's one of these other three. Ram, Justice, or Zone Too me, the Toro and the Zone are clones so Im with ya there. Try the DX RAM 180G and share your thoughts. You will be the first reputable reviewer I know of. Peace
I like a Berg...for its spot in my bag. But the shape and feel are so absolutely different than anything in my bag. So when I throw it, the results are inconsistent Is there anything that flies like a Berg, but feels like a normal disc?
If you give it some more time, you’ll mind will adapt and you won’t even notice anymore. Just that this disc needs to be released with more speed. Inconsistency can mean many things, but it’s often because people try to “baby the disc”, instead of throwing it a bit harder. It needs speed to commit to a line. As for other discs like the Berg, you’ll find them, but they will all have a pretty thick/deep rim Hope this helps!
He was trying to show how much the discs "hyzer," not what they do on a "hyzer" angle. But yeah I've got the Armadillo to move left with enough to angle.
@@salommy There's a difference between what a disc does at the end (fade), and the angle of release (hyzer in this case). And it seems that on the hyzer scenario, he threw them on a baby hyzer (15-20°) rather than a typical ~45° hyzer.
Agreed that our backhand hyzers were not as angled as our forehand hyzers. At the same time, we do have a lot of experience with the Berg. Now it’s important to note that when we say the disc doesn’t hyzer that well, we are implying that it doesn’t have a lot of fade back at higher speeds. Honestly, try this for yourself. Throw the disc with a lot of hyzer at a high speed and you’ll see that the disc may maintain a hyzer angle appearance, but it won’t fade back that much. The faster you throw it, the less it maintains a fade 👍
You are correct, however we feel they have still missed the mark. The polecat and animal don’t work like the Berg. Less high-speed stability and control. There is a reason the Berg is so popular! 🙌
Do you have any other Kastaplast discs in your bag? I have the Svea that I enjoy throwing but have not thrown anything else from Kasta. I need to get better with my forehands with the Berg. I am still not used to the thumbtrack when forehanding. I love to throw it backhand though. Very hard to get into trouble when throwing that disc. Were you invited to the content creators disc golf get together that happened this month?
Yes I have! I’ve thrown the Falk and the Kaxe Z with reviews on the way sometime in August/September 👍 However, I haven’t bagged them for a few reasons which you’ll see in the reviews. And no, unfortunately we were not invited to the content creators disc golf event. Not sure why
@@JustDisc the feel of the disc may be a bit off for me. i think it should be fine though but i always feel bad buying discs and then not using them. i just gotta push myself and give it a try though! it looks great from this video and the berg review video you guys did so i should have more confidence lol
@@SSJChar Well, it’s never a bad thing to think twice about making purchases lol. If you are comfortable with your approach discs, there is no need to change! But as you know, the Berg replaced my Dart and Aviar3 as my go-to approach discs. Now all I used is a Pig and Berg! Anyways, if you ever end up getting one, be sure to let us know 👍
The Berg is my money approach disc. I bag 2 just in case if I lose one. I have had multiple throw ins due you being able to run it and the disc will not be very far past the basket if it misses. It hold up very well to forehands and my forehand game isn't good. Forehand anny is where it's at. Out of all my discs (minus putters), the Berg gets the most use.
@@JustDisc yeah but if you got a pig you don’t really need a Berg and you don’t need a Dillo. To me that’s overkill because they are all three very similar. Obviously slower than a pig, but pigs aren’t very fast to begin with regardless of their speed number.
For me, the hyzer approach actually works quite well with the Berg. It didn't look like you put enough hyzer on your approach. In my opinion they fade quite nicely when thrown with enough hyzer, but still nothing like any other disc. Other than that, nice video! Keep it up :D

@@JustDisc Thats true, but even if you throw with hyzer at higher speed, it still wont flip up to flat, but I get what you mean :D

Like the five scenario approach to your review of the discs.
Thumbtrac makes the Armadillo look like a Rhyno.
You need a lesson on hyzer angles, lol. Those “hyzer” shots were basically flat or hyzer flip release.
