Wish I had time to overlay everyone's names and associations but this was already a major editing undertaking. I even left out a physician mentioning clearing of MS plaques on a plant-based diet: "I have witnessed a patient with Multiple Sclerosis whose white matter plaques completely resolved after 6 months on a plant-based diet, I have seen a patient with refractory psoriasis clear their skin completely after 21 days on a plant-based diet, I've seen a patient whose rheumatoid symptoms resolved after instituting a plant-based diet...." USDA video timestamp: 3:13:41
Why did you leave that one out?
Wow, im a Respiratory Therapist, i take care of MS, ALS & Parkinson's disease vent dependent trached patients. This is amazing!
OK here is my rebuttable. The fact is. A bad diet is someone believing the food and drug administration are listing to good advice. They flooded schools with so much Soy and Milk people where turning homosexual when i was a teenager. An its only gotten worse! I would be pissed! I would be chewing them out!
This is hilarious. Rebuttable.
Still you did put in a great deal and all well ordered, with the thread of your narration and comments holding things together. A commendable effort. And this comment highlighted should help redress that omission. I think I recall a video by you on multiple sclerosis, if it's there a link could be given I suppose.
"it was never in my dna, it was my dinner"
Now hold on THAT'S A BAR 🔥
Awesome!
"It was never my DNA, it was my dinner." Killer line!
Best speech
@Peter Rabitt but we prefer patriotic carnivores, war lover slave owners carved on mt rushmore
So true!
@Peter Rabitt Mount Rushmore?
what's the timestamp ?
If most Americans are deficient in choline, then eating animal products can't be a good source, cause most of them eat those 3x a day or more.
More choline isn't a good thing>> nutritionfacts.org/topics/choline/
nutritionfacts.org/video/eggs-and-choline-something-fishy/
Great point! If animal products were a good source of choline, Americans would be doing great!
@Citizenthirteen they already are focusing on the Eastern markets, somewhat thankfully impossible and beyond are expanding there as well.
Eelke Aptroot wrong. 70% of calories of Americans come from plants
@Peter Rabitt processed grains
I understand the potato lady, I also have a deep love for potatoes

@Gregg Stafford im sensing a lot of judgement and misery in your life young one
Gregg Stafford just a bit hypocritical my friend. It’s never too late to turn your life around!!
Rob G Vegans, from my experience, have been the most judgemental and self righteous people I have ever meet.
Gregg Stafford I used to be vegetarian was for over 10 years. I was sold a ideology, that I have now broken free from. I still don't support factory farming however. Ive been keto (largely carnivore) for a year now feel better than ever and have packed on some muscle, that I would never have gained on the Monsanto promoted vegan soy boy diet.
After my mother reversed her heart disease with eating plant based food, my sister and I went vegan as well. I’m a molecular biology student and I’m planning to take master’s degree in molecular nutrition so I could help people in changing their lifestyles. It just warms my heart to know that so many people are advocating for THE TRUTH!
Sending love from Europe❤️🌱🌞
Awee! Congrats for your mother, And I believe in you :D
i think rather than advocating the truth, you should advocate the facts, and then make people make their own mind ^^
but yes, without being nitpicky, this is nice~ hope your masters went well ^^
Amazing piece of work mate..smashed it!!
I read pbn comments with Klaus accent all the time...)))))

A carb is a carb is a carb? So to her vegetables are comparable to sugary sweets/candy? 😂 It's almost embarrassing how people lump all carbs together as something that's bad for us.
A fat is a fat is a fat. Lard and trans fats are basically polyunsaturated fats.
I was told by ppl in the keto community that my plate of lentil and beans curry with brown rice which I eat often is the same as a loaded chocolate ice cream sundae with crushed Oreo cookies and chocolate sauce on the top.... These ppl are crazy and there's no getting through to them
@@caramelcupcake1275 that's beyond brain dead
@@caramelcupcake1275 God, could you imagine not having the healthier carbs though. There's so many vitamins and minerals in fruit, veg and whole grains. Carry on eating your lentil curry with rice and laugh in the face of anyone who tells you it's worse than a chocolate sundae x
@@nataliecat98nc ikr well said! I will and thanks :)
The USDA will neeeever promote a plant-based diet as a superior diet, so long as the dairy, egg, and meat industries are serious donors to the organization. Money talks people. It doesn’t pay to make everyone healthy.
Edit: thanks for all the likes guys😅
MURICA 🥵
Rebecca Gypseysol
They already basically do
Rebecca Gypseysol, unfortunately this isn't just happening in the United States but Globally. There's too much money to be made out of animal products and industries that are ruining the planet, our health and killing animals. Humans sadly are too greedy and putting profit before the planet, the animals and our health.
@@davidthescottishvegan The only thing that will presuade them to change reccommendations is once they realize the U.S.A is in extreme financial debt with regards to their health care system.
Everybody dies. And one day the majority members will be plant based.
The retired cop made me tear up too. And Dr Mills in the background at 12:57 is so great.
The retired police officer is Eric Adams, Brooklyn borough president in New York.
Yes, there's a video about him on 'Forks over Knives' site. Very interesting story.
Yep - he's doing great work there!
yeah, very impressive man
He's giving a free talk this August about how he reversed his diabetes. I can't wait to attend! www.meetup.com/vegetarian-nyc/events/263264143/
This guy's presentation is at 1:19:30 at ua-cam.com/video/y25aGM547Wk/v-deo.html
Fat guy praising keto 👌
Pure gold!
Lucas Gasque Yep.
Yeah, the "proof" is totally in the "pudding." I don't know why people can't remember the scientific method. When you've tried all of these low carb reinventions, & gotten the same failures for results, why not break down, & try the opposite? It worked for me! It's not genes, or some cursed metabolism - "It's the FOOD!"
There was a chubby brown lady talking about vegan also, what’s your point? Or did none of you notice that? Lol
@@coco8386 Great comment! Read mine above. The EXACT OPPOSITE is working for me. Three months on Keto and 17.6 lbs down. I'm losing about a pound a week with NO HUNGER, great energy and no digestive issues. I DID break down from my no oil/fat vegan diet and am so successful on Keto that I don't think I'll ever go back. It works for me. Veganism did not. Also, you can do Keto on plant fats rather than meat.
@Citizenthirteen Wrong. My husband has lost very little weight on the no oil/fat vegan diet. Still has a bit of a gut. Also lost energy.
The angry low carb lady was probably hypoglycemic.
You go Dr. Gregor! Bash that Bologna sandwich!
Greger
He should be nobel prize.
he is a veterinarian-doesn't mean he is not right

Also his signature bunny hops, lol. He must have iron leg calves!

Thank you so much !!
Yup
Gregg Stafford You have NO idea what your talking about. Red pill shows videos of all different speakers at the event. Once again a meat eater talking out his ass.😉
Subscribed. Will be checking this out over the weekend!
" You can hold up a bank with a piece of bread....people are so scared of carbs " 🤣🤣
“You’re starting to feel normal,”
“Apparently I’ve never felt normal before”
Amazing.
The "Choline" Dolly Parton bit is perhaps the best one ever
23:12 for those wondering
I usually have a chuckle at Mic's dad jokes, but this one was by far his greatest yet.
Omg lol. I couldn’t stop myself from laughing out loud. That was a really good one
Choline, choline choline choleeen!
Cannot stop laughing
Hippocrates said it best. " Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food"
I’m a third year med student and hope to spread the word 🙌
That's awesome. We need more of you in practice and able to give out advice to patients. Good luck with getting your license.
Yes!
so there is hope that there will be doctors again, not only prescribers!
@Citizenthirteen the good thing is that docs can easily have their own practice/business and can be bill for their time (at least here in Germany)
@Citizenthirteen who will fire you if you have your own practice?
These scientists are breaking the door down at the FDA like the elephants in Jumanji. Both are herbivores. Coincidence? You decide... 🌿🦏🦍🐘🌿
Nothing is a coincidence lol
The truth is truly unstoppable.
Carbs FTW!
You and Mic need to do a collab!
Metaphor king
Thanks for always making knowledge and info accessible and easily digestible to everyone! This was an awesome watch!
One of the best!
@Lewis Blanchard you need to get your eyes checks.. maybe they are sick.
Peace By Vegan Easily digestible? Haha, okay, just as long as you don't forget to take your digestive enzyme supplement! =)
@@Colin_Izer1111 we don't have to do that. But plenty of meat eaters and people go follow standard American diets tend to need B12 shots digestive enzymes supplements among many other things
The Nothing Network Vegans have to contrast their diet against the S.A.D... because that is about the only dietary model that a vegan diet can actually stack up against.
The S.A.D is so extremely bad that even I would recommend (a well constructed) vegan diet in comparison! As long as your vegan diet is whole food based, organic, and you supplement with all the right things (and there are many you will need) your going to be doing better than on a S.A.D. Still that is not saying much for a vegan diet really though is it?!
There are PLENTY of "French fry" vegans out there, who's diet is every bit as bad as the S.A.D!
Those Vegans, I think, tend vegans for strictly ideological reasons & they are some of the most clueless about what the human body actually needs in the way of nutrition.
Such a great vid as usual!
To be fair it's not "Vegan vs Low Carb", it is "Plant based vs Low Carb "
When it comes to diet, those are essentially the same thing though. Unless you're using the loosest definition of plant-based.
@@freshairkaboom8171 I should have probably said "whole food plant based". There is no health dimension in the word vegan, you could be vegan and live on crisps and soda. Also vegan is not a diet, it is a philosophy.
The name was changed because vegans have such horrible reputations in so many parts of the world.
Shutting down entire cities by glueing their heads to the middle of major intersections gained them more hate than sympathy.
@@cincin4515 Veganism is a philosophy, not a diet.
Vegan diet would mean a diet that does not harm animals. So crisps and coke is a vegan diet, this is not what they are talking about. It should actually even be "whole food plant based"
That retired cop who got his sight back is Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams!
Best speech
Thanks for creating this video for us. I'm sure it was a lot of work watching and editing all that video! It was great to get the highlight reel. So heartening to hear all those advocates of plant-based diets being represented in front of that committee. I also appreciated hearing your critiques of the false claims that many of the meat/dairy/egg/low-carb advocates.
Andrew Havens thanks, as I went to bed I realized I worked 13 hours straight on it 🥴 1pm to 2am but thankfully it was interesting enough for me to not feel to draining 🤓
Wow that’s a lot of work. Thankyou so much for doing this. You highlighted all the bits I wanted to hear!
Pam Popper is always worth listening to. Great information. Thanks for always keeping us informed.
@Plants On Purpose I hope I look as good as she does, and have her mental ability when I'm 62!
Yeah Pam was spot on about Meat in comparing it to cocaine. I would go 1 further and compare red meat to heroin. Its so bad for humans
@Gregg Stafford enjoy your cancer/heart disease/type II diabetes, imbecile. Hope the steak is worth the chemotherapy.
I Think We Should Take The Time To APPRECIATE This Human And The Work That He Does For Us!!! 😎🤝👏👏 Thanks Mike 😀
The beef lobby and dairy lobby speakers were both overweight. Let that sink in.
They probably eat a lot of grain and sugar.
Yep.
@S K
Ya Okay 😂
Skinny is healthy if you are not malnourished... Vegans are far from being malnourished, unlike the average joes. There is nothing that meat has to offer that you can't get in plants, including vitamin B.
Meat is carcinogenic.
@S K Well, if hes anorexic it has nothing to do with the diet. ;)
@Heilige AHAHAHA love that you called me skinny, I'm a chubby vegan here eating too much vegan icecream yet im probably more nourished then your mean eating guts
I started a whole food plant based diet last Sunday, based on Dr McDougall's recommendations. I'm already feeling better. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I really appreciate it.
mic you are a genius !
the way you present these serious subjects we all need to be aware of is so informative , entertaining and watchable especially because of the funny bits thank you
Dr. Mills has the power to take down Dairy, he is a Vegan Jedi Master!
Omg I teared up when the retired policeman was talking about how 3 months on a plant based diet brought his eyesight back 😭😭, I thought it was because I’m PMSing until you mentioned that you teared up too lol
A friend of mine went blind from his diet. I tried telling him many times over the years that he was killing himself. Eventually, he was diagnosed with diabetes. He still would not listen to me. He started losing his eyesight, and even his doctors tried telling him to change his diet. He ended up in the hospital a number of times. He was in Japan when he ended up in the hospital, and they put him on, from what I could tell from the photos he took of his meals, a traditional Japanese food vegan diet. His eyesight was worsening all the time. He talked about the food as prison food. The day he was released from the hospital, he immediately went to the store, bought a pound of ground meat (horse meat) cooked it up, and ate the whole bowl of meat. He learnt to use a cane and how to read braille and how to navigate as a blind person as his loss of eyesight was inevitable on his current path. Eventually the capillaries to his eyes became so clogged (as with the ones in the rest of his body, of course) that he not only became totally blind, but within the next two years, had to have his eyes completely removed. Why? Because they didn't have any blood flow going to them. Why take them out? Well, because without life-sustaining blood, they died and would start to rot. So, he got himself a pair of glass eyes. Now, I had tried to talk to him about his diet over and over prior to this over the period of about a decade. So did professionals. He refused to listen. I'm surprised he's still alive, actually, but he just turned 40, and most heart attacks happen to guys in their 40s and 50s, so I foresee a heart attack very soon for him. Don't be like my friend. Actually, I just could no longer spend any time around him as he was a strong reminder to me of how stubborn people can be; of how people would rather go blind or die of a heart attack etc. rather than change their diet.
That's awful!! Especially so since it could have been prevented!
Its true, I was the eyesight.
Scocasso Vegetus This story is so fake lmao. Also I went to Japan and you'd be lucky to find vegan restaurants there. Plenty of seafood and pork in almost every dish. I was vegan at the time I visited and I had a hard time and unfortunately had to cheat.
We can see what the real drug is, that would make a person chose it over eyesight.
Before reaching the end of your post, I was thinking: I couldn't stand to be around that kind of person. Too depressing.
I watched the dr Popper clip and didn't quite get why she would get so personal - but now, with context restored, I get it. Thank you for posting this!
About the only thing these people will agree on is that refined processed sugar is not healthy....
Think about that for a minute.
flexible dieters incoming
Thank you Mic for filtering through and selecting the highlights for us, saving us 3.5 hours of time. Your videos are the best, thank you!!!
kudos to mic... this must have taken forever to make, but was well worth it. i greatly appreciate this, thank you so much.
Thank you for this Mike, I could not have sat through this how you did and I appreciate the synopsis!
I really wish the progress would go faster (not that it doesn't for example 2 years ago there were no vegan products in Belgium and last week I even have vegan cheese in my local store) so this fking animal suffering just ends
Belgium is still pretty behind but I'm sure we'll get there!
@@hummmusqueeen Show me the way to the hummus, my queen.
It won't. The percentage of the earth's human population that is vegan is about 1%. Hasn't changed since vegan-ISM started. Eating only plants long term is not for humans no matter what plant-based doctors say. Human beings are omnivores(proven fact) not herbivores and need plants and animal products to survive and stay healthy LONG term. Typical vegan: "Look at me, I am so smart! I research online and think I know everything. I only have a high school education(if that) but you know I read 'FACTS' tho." 99% of Doctors worldwide recommend a balanced diet with plant and animal products. Even then people are still going to eat/drink whatever they want. The 1% of vegan doctors have plant-only bias because they just shun animal products without understanding humans have eaten animal products well over 2 million years ago and they have benefits. The other 99% of smart doctors don't view reality the same and they are smart because of that. They understand humans shouldn't be eating only plants.
2019 is the year of the vegan!
Well I can guarantee you I will not stop eating meat so keep trying loser. Stop trying to change what people eat. Keep to yourself fuck face. Stay in your lane
Wow! Thanks for taking one for the team and watching this all the through so we don’t have to. I much prefer this highlights version than 4 hours of public comment! Again thank you!
Funny thing is that I am black and I'm lactose intolerant, which is one of the reasons why I went vegan lol
Everyone is lactose intolerant;)
Lactose intolerant people are lucky, since they will not suffer the long term diseases it will bring, like breast/prostate cancer, diabetes types 1 and 2, heart diseases, inflammations, etc..
Sure you’re not just on a plant based diet?
@@kx7500 yeah
@@gjkoolen I know many people who are lactose intolerant or downright allergic to certain foods. They still eat them.
So great to have a neat summary of the meeting, thank you so much for taking the time to edit this! Must have been a lot if work!
Great video man, thanks for putting this together for us!
Animal industries clutching at choline straws.
Excellent editing Mic! Thanks!🙏🏼
That police officer’s statement was touching, excellent! 👏👏
The choline joke with Dolly was perfect 😂 thanks for the informative video
Thanks for the work that you put into this compilation. Hard to make dietary guidelines informative and entertaining, but ya did it again 😊👍
Excellent video like always! Thank you for taking time to sift through and bring humor and highlight great points.
"...believe that somehow a greasy burger without a bun will save them"...LOL!...oh, but don't forget to "hold the pickles, hold the lettuce...."
I cannot believe I used to follow a low carb diet. It seems incomprehensible to me now. Once I switched to a whole food plant-based diet (starch solution) everything just got better!
Methodtraining probably because you think anecdotes are good evidence
Thanks so much for this incisive and amusing summary of what had to be a massive undertaking! I really appreciate all your effort!
Awesome video, Mic! Dolly Parton got me good. 🤣
Thank you for putting this together, Mic. I can see it was a significant effort and I appreciate the breakdown 🙏🏼💖
Fascinating, the event seems to have been covered well in this video. So much sifting and pruning and putting things in order, for clarity and, well digestibilty of information, I would say. Kudos. 👏. I watched only 16 minutes, will get back to the video soon but I'm sure it will be as good as the first part. Thanks a lot. The situation seems hopeful, I think.
“It has never been my DNA, it was my dinna”
That’s straight BARZ right there 😂
Thanks for your effort of highlighting the important bits of this meeting!
Appreciate it
I hope the US follows the footsteps of Canada on this topic, but I can't see the US dumping dairy, or following Canada. The US is too bought out. That's how things work in 'Merica, sadly. It's all about the money here.
Dr Greger would wreck any of those low carb/keto proponents.
Great job getting us to speed Mic. Thanks for all of your hard work and connecting the dots to relevant studies. You rock!
This video is fantastic! And the info and time stamps in the details = awesomeness. You've really done a terrific job on this one. Thanks so much!
This is one of the best plant based channels.
Thank you, Dr. Mills!! I loved all of this, but I'm so grateful he said what he did about the different carbs.
Absolutely best video yet!!! I’m excited to see the outcome, thanks for all the hard work you put into this!!! ❤️🙌🏼
Nice summary, Mic! Thx for reducing the firehose to a palatable stream, and spicing it up with your rye comments and a lil Dolly! 🌱
Awesome piece of work. Thank you! 👏👏👏
Thank You Mic. For all your work!
this is a great video, really appreciate you pulling the best highlights
I am so happy you did this video!
I dunno what it is Mic, but when you upload I get super excited to watch
@Lewis Blanchard you're subscribed to a plethora of anti-vegan channels and are thus biased. Mic looks great. Certainly better than nearly all the -retards- carnivores.
You did a brilliant take on the 4 hour conference!! Thank you heaps!!
Really great video as always!!
Thanks for this video, great job Mic!
Great job. What you're doing is sooo important!!
Wow thanks for posting was very fun and informative
Great summary! TY! "Apparently I had never felt normal before..." LOVE IT!
Specially like editorial at 27:07. Didn’t know Dolly Parton was so passionate about choline.
Great video Mic! Loved the commentary and the clips. You really demonstrated the success of a whole foods plant based diet over that of all others and how the animal ag industry is so influential in all recent US guidelines making it nearly impossible for Americans to understand what a healthy diet should look like. I especially liked the people talking about getting processed meats out of school lunches. It is really unconscionable. Also, the guy who talked about his Type 2 diabetes reversal was a very powerful speaker.
Wow, really well done recap. Thanks!
Great video thanks for your work!
The ending though 😂
Dr Michael Greger always nails it by going straight to the point.
Great video Mikey !
Wonderful video, thank you so much for all that you do!
Thank you so much for making these videos, can't tell you how much i appreciate your work!
Science vs. Quackery.
There, I fixed it for you. :')
@Karni Vore My zest is my niche, little pleb.
Mic- FYI "neural tube defect" does not equal "being born without a brain". The most common presentation of neural tube defects are spina bifida and anencephaly. When making an argument for a whole food plant-based diet, it's important to not make hyperbolic claims like this. If we are seen as always over-exaggerating the consequences or benefits of a diet, we lose credibility.
@Jodie Masterson yes, but words matter. It may seem pedantic, but "Born without a brain" is not the same as being born with an underdeveloped brain. Since Mic presents himself as an expert in these videos, I feel we would all be better served if he cut down on the hyperbole and used more precise language.. Peace
Great video! Thanks for putting this together.
Great overview, as always, master Mike! :)
Greger droppin' green bombs as usual!!! TAKE IT FROM THE MAN!
The Cherry picking fool. As time goes by he looks more deficient than ever. He needs to supplement more.
Dr Garth Davis made a post on instagram after this session a while ago saying when walking out you’d think the prevalence of choline deficiency is astronomical if you listened to the industry representatives.
Nice try big Egg and big Meat!
@Citizenthirteen what an expert you would think they would know more sources for choline definitely a vested interest.
Another amazing video, brother! Thanks for all the work you put in to spread knowledge!
Perfection! Sharing this!
Am now waiting with batted breath to see how USDA will ignore the testimonies and the science...
Thank you, water guy, for reminding me to take a drink of water.

I have to say that dietary cholesterol doesn't always result in high blood cholesterol, might as well read on that because there is this common misconception that eggs raise cholesterol when they dont
Ok the Dolly Parton clip made me laugh out loud..hahaha
Thanks for sharing!!!
