I have always bought the F Zero games, I enjoyed them casually, was more of a Mario Kart fan. F Zero 99 is now one of my favorite games of all time, it opened my eyes to all of the games in the series. I am now a hard core F Zero fan.😃
I know people are talking about the latest update, but I agree on the top players making it hard for newcomers... Imagine if you enter a jiujitsu competition as a white belt but the only people you can compete against are black belts and there is no "white belt division." That's F-Zero 99.
are new players entitled to win? each track has 25-50 decisions to make in one race, plus the skyway factor. when you sum up the permutations of how many cornering decisions need to be made each race, there is a lot of depth of play
They can make another league set where there is randomization of parts of the track and the bumpers. Like with the cold effects. So maybe you play queen league, but the weather goes from cold with more icy patches on mute city to maybe more dirt patches on port town, maybe more mines, etc. and just have it randomized so that it’s not completely about memorization. Also they could split the leagues up by rank to make it easier to gain the feeling of accomplishment from winning a race or winning a GP.
I really agree with your point on hardcore players. If i enter a lobby with Japanese players, I know I'm done for lol. I love seeing myself get better at the game, I love the customizations for ships and pilot cards, my only gripes for 99 really are just: 1. 99 players feels like too many. 2. I wish there were more tracks available. But I still love the game and the variety of modes and players keeps me occupied.

the 1.4.0 update really wont matter in the long run. ppl are just going back to it for the event then drop it again cause the other problems still exist. like good player problem for example. i still believe good players should be able to play to the best of their abilities and win, cause really sometimes theres no better feeling than purely outplaying opponents. but of course, thatll make the game unwelcoming for new players, and even casual players who dont play it often and drop it again. solution for that that is to have it so ppl of 2 ranks or higher cant match with each other. maybe have the rank gap lenient at S ranks since theres alot of S ranks lol. and to do this, make casual and ranked lobbies. but have it so ppl can still get rank points in either modes. this will deter smurfs who want to destroy casuals cuz theyll still get rank and eventually wont be able to match up with them unless they make a new account every time. make it so ranked unlocks at rank A or S so people know what theyre getting into when they go ranked. this way hardcore players can still challenge themselves, smurfs wont be a potential problem, and people with less time or lower skills can match with each other, enjoy the game and not be completely destroyed by rank S-9999.
yeah. like im only a casral. when the game is dieing i can win a full GP easy. so i always get to top 20 easy and get to place to 3rd place. then when a new update comes out with a event. the pros come back and i could bearly even get past 3rd race. i,ll rank out at 3rd or 4th race. in a few weeks afther the event is over it will die down again and us casral players will be able to win GP a lot. right now its really hard but its fun. i like challanges. afther this summer event is over. next will be fall event in kingcup.
I'm sure this game is great in its own way and all, but I don't think it has any real reflection on how cool and successful a proper brand new F-Zero game done right could be. But, I have to emphasise the DONE RIGHT part, as that could make all the difference in the world. Unfortunately, I don't think Nintendo is really bothered about releasing a proper new F-Zero, and certainly not one done right. But, boy, I can see it in my head, and it could be so awesome. Think basically a modern GX but actually without the slight Sega cheesiness to it and that slight lack of the Nintendo full old-school Nintendo level of true AAA quality and polish across the board, with a full highest-quality single player campaign story mode and with the addition of multiplayer online and stuff like that too.

True, it'd be a bit much for tracks, but...just the SNES tracks isn't good enough. Especially when the GBA titles show off impressively creative layouts (Expansion Park, Flower II, Warrior Circuit, Loss Landing, etc.) So, on that one, I agree. BUT, this video has some unlucky timing.
Add all the tracks you like, people are still just going to vote for mute city. More tracks isn’t the issue. There’s 15 now, 30 if you count the altered mirror tracks (I do). Yet there’s a 50/50 chance you’ll be racing on a mute city variant. Democracy was a mistake.
Whenever F~Zero 099 gets a proper Final Build, if not the long~awaited Domestic (Offline) Release, I hope very much that NST will not only deliver to us all the material from BS F~Zero Grand Prix 0I & II, but I feel at this point we need an Edition Select that is on par with the offerings of Hyper Street Fighter II and Ultra Street Fighter IV, there are enough Statistical and Bugfix differences for every car and venue at this point that it would allow for incredible levels of Play Variety if you could choose which specific version of a car's template or a course's glitches and Ultra Skips you want for both Private Lobbies and Speedrunning; remember too that we are still waiting on the unused material that has yet to show in official updates (Forest '23, Fungus Swamp, Sulfur Swarmp, Volcania, Arcade Mode, Survival Mode, Remix Venues in Practice Mode, and more), I've a feeling that NST is probably saving all of that for the Domestic Release if it decides to do anything with it and wishfully having those extras on top of what has been offered in the Seasonal Updates will satisfy a lot of players down the road, 099 has proven its worth enough to consistently get more at least every Two Months and I can already tell that it is building up to something big as we quickly approach its First Anniversary in 069 Days.

Today is the one year anniversary and what will we get? Exactly. Nothing... Which is just sad because the game is still loved by fans, but, as you said, it's gatekept by the Japanese Elite Players, making it impossible for one to win (I too am yet to win a GP, making me a "skill issue tryhard" at this point...) and to attract new players because it's literally their game. I love the customization options and all, but if something is needed to be done, I'd say the obvious and repeated stuff, like the BS F-Zero stuff (Blue Thunder, Luna Bomber, Green Amazon, Fire Scorpion and both Japan exclusive cups and worse case, just add the Ace Cup), maybe some GBA (do add the Maximum Velocity stuff at worse, without the dragging and difficulty it had and also minus Falcon MK-II since it's literally just Blue Falcon under a different name). Make the rivalry system more equal, where you drive to beat people up to your level (so new people don't end up against some random S25+ ranked guys out of nowhere) and add in some "Elite Class" so that they can compete against each other. But knowing Nintendo, next update (if anything) will just be seasonal King Cup based and that's it...
The new update with new bounty backdrops, and the new event is not bad. The only problem with this update is that THINGS KEEP DISAPPEARING!!! I got a bounty chip for a new backdrop from the lucky draws, and in about 10 minutes, IT’S GONE! Not only do I lose my bounty chip from the lucky draw, I also lose progress from the gem sparks for the event whenever I close this game, and it’s extremely annoying! They need to fix all these bugs right away, or else this game will DEFINITELY die.

Even though I’ve not jumped back in myself yet I hope they keep this going for as long as what Tetris 99 has survived. I 100% agree! Plus, give us new thrusting effects for all the boosts, like the engine thrusts. Not just the boost. Also, there should be some accessories for all of the machines, so that you have more options to customize your machines.
Nintendo really it's good and all but if you want to add more true life to the game then please for crying out loud add the Satteliveiw courses, even the recently rediscovered BS Grand Prix courses and let us in the NTSC-U play the courses that were only playable in Japan. That way we won't have to use a exported ROM to play them. Please let's get this issue across to them, PLEASE!!!

the new update is great, yeah true there are a lot of sweaty lobbies, it will be cool if they added skill based matchmaking through the S Rank system for newcomers, and have a leaderboard of who is the highest rank for tryhard players dont lower their rank to stomp new players and feel a reward of being a high rank, also reset ranks every 2-3 months, tryhard players have something to grind for and newcomers dont get destroyed, game fixed
It's picked up a little with the update, but still pretty dead. I've actually had some races I haven't won lately lol. It's normally pretty rare for me to complete an entire race and not win it. I almost always either finish 1st or crash out. Very rarely do I cross the finish line in any position other than 1st.
There are rumors that they have a port of F Zero GX for switch ready with online play, the usual 4 player split screen shenanigans, and a casual mode, so if anything if they ever do reveal it to be true, I'd buy the game day one.
The only ones that stick around are the sweats and try hards, when you see a 99 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 99+ win Golden Fox meta or Wild Goose meta japan player, just leave the game its not fun
I mean first off, F zero is and always has been a niche racing game. The player population has never been “huge”. In fact its declined every iteration of the game. Throw in the matter that racing games don’t interest kids all too much and the ones that do like to race are going to pick the games that are designed to grab their attention EX: Mario Kart. His was even the case in the N64. Both Mario Kart 64 and Diddy Kong both sold more than F Zero X. F zero mostly appeals to f-zero fans which again was always small when compared to other games of the genre, and those fans are mostly adults now, some with kiddos of their own now. Like I dunno what you’re going for here man, the game is intended to appeal to an adult fanbase on a child’s console, with a franchise thats never had exorbitant numbers. The thing tho is, that despite that the game isn’t really dead. Been playing it for the last few months and the GP’s have always had at least 50% of the lobby if not more ready to play. And regulars generally have 30+ players. I’ve even got full lobbies occasionally on both. Keep in mind that thats only the lobby I’m seeing. There’s like 50 lobbies getting ready to launch or gathering players at any given time. The game isn’t dead the player base has just settled into those who enjoy the game enough to keep playing. Throw in 1.4 update and the game is booming. There’s plenty still playing the game. We’re just adults my guy. Working 9-5s and dealing with our daily bs. The fact that the population has surged over the update proves that people still playa and keep an eye on the game, we’re just at a point in our lives where we don’t get to play everyday.
This is just Nintendo's way of saying hey we don't got that Sony and Microsoft money so we'll just take some old outdated sprites from a Sprite sheet and throw them together

it was dieing. onces the update come out now its full. when i play a GP full cup i could bearly even make to the 3rd race and i,ll rank out. befor the update i was able to to make it to top 20 all the time easy and get about 8thplace to 4th place. now its very hard to make it to top 20. afher a few weeks it will die down again and they will releese new content again. right now its summer event. the fall event will be next in kingcup. there gonna do seasonal events.
I love the game but I love my PC more and if it ain't on PC I may not play it much. I'm a huge Metroid fan and beat Metroid Prime Remastered but after that...back to my computer. Aero GPX is probably to closest thing to a new F-Zero, now only if it had online multiplayer.

I got a bounty chip for a new backdrop from the lucky draws, and in about 10 minutes, IT’S GONE!
Not only do I lose my bounty chip from the lucky draw, I also lose progress from the gem sparks for the event whenever I close this game, and it’s extremely annoying!
They need to fix all these bugs right away, or else this game will DEFINITELY die.
That’s just the type of nonsense that will keep me from playing it 😕

@@eduardogomez4275 That’s good to hear it was fixed quickly, although that’s to be expected seeing as they want to keep as many people playing as possible. Even though I’ve not jumped back in myself yet I hope they keep this going for as long as what Tetris 99 has survived. Although I’d like to see them offer a single player element to it and sell it as DLC like with Tetris, but I guess that’s just wishful thinking on my part.

Also, there should be some accessories for all of the machines, so that you have more options to customize your machines.
Nintendo really it's good and all but if you want to add more true life to the game then please for crying out loud add the Satteliveiw courses, even the recently rediscovered BS Grand Prix courses and let us in the NTSC-U play the courses that were only playable in Japan. That way we won't have to use a exported ROM to play them. Please let's get this issue across to them, PLEASE!!!

bro what? did you see how awful that battlefront remake did? you LEGIT could not even find a lobby with more than 4 players a WEEK after launch, and that's mostly because the game didn't even work. i could go on and on and on, but bro fzero 99 is the best thing ever for fzero and arguably one of the most popular games on NSO ever.

Assuming the player-base could be grown to a large enough size would skill based match making for lobbies (maybe even hidden if they want to hide ranks) make it so newcomers wouldn't have to race against the diehards?
the new update is great, yeah true there are a lot of sweaty lobbies, it will be cool if they added skill based matchmaking through the S Rank system for newcomers, and have a leaderboard of who is the highest rank for tryhard players dont lower their rank to stomp new players and feel a reward of being a high rank, also reset ranks every 2-3 months, tryhard players have something to grind for and newcomers dont get destroyed, game fixed
It's picked up a little with the update, but still pretty dead. I've actually had some races I haven't won lately lol. It's normally pretty rare for me to complete an entire race and not win it. I almost always either finish 1st or crash out. Very rarely do I cross the finish line in any position other than 1st.

There are rumors that they have a port of F Zero GX for switch ready with online play, the usual 4 player split screen shenanigans, and a casual mode, so if anything if they ever do reveal it to be true, I'd buy the game day one.

The game is very much active and the lobby is always full, maybe you haven’t been playing as much, and the festival event makes even more fun.
I mean first off, F zero is and always has been a niche racing game. The player population has never been “huge”. In fact its declined every iteration of the game.
Throw in the matter that racing games don’t interest kids all too much and the ones that do like to race are going to pick the games that are designed to grab their attention EX: Mario Kart. His was even the case in the N64. Both Mario Kart 64 and Diddy Kong both sold more than F Zero X.
F zero mostly appeals to f-zero fans which again was always small when compared to other games of the genre, and those fans are mostly adults now, some with kiddos of their own now.
Like I dunno what you’re going for here man, the game is intended to appeal to an adult fanbase on a child’s console, with a franchise thats never had exorbitant numbers.
The thing tho is, that despite that the game isn’t really dead. Been playing it for the last few months and the GP’s have always had at least 50% of the lobby if not more ready to play. And regulars generally have 30+ players. I’ve even got full lobbies occasionally on both. Keep in mind that thats only the lobby I’m seeing. There’s like 50 lobbies getting ready to launch or gathering players at any given time. The game isn’t dead the player base has just settled into those who enjoy the game enough to keep playing.
Throw in 1.4 update and the game is booming. There’s plenty still playing the game. We’re just adults my guy. Working 9-5s and dealing with our daily bs. The fact that the population has surged over the update proves that people still playa and keep an eye on the game, we’re just at a point in our lives where we don’t get to play everyday.
Could it be that F-Zero 99. Be released on Switch 2 and Nintendo is withholding this possible information from us?

it was dieing. onces the update come out now its full. when i play a GP full cup i could bearly even make to the 3rd race and i,ll rank out. befor the update i was able to to make it to top 20 all the time easy and get about 8thplace to 4th place. now its very hard to make it to top 20. afher a few weeks it will die down again and they will releese new content again. right now its summer event. the fall event will be next in kingcup. there gonna do seasonal events.
I love the game but I love my PC more and if it ain't on PC I may not play it much. I'm a huge Metroid fan and beat Metroid Prime Remastered but after that...back to my computer.
Aero GPX is probably to closest thing to a new F-Zero, now only if it had online multiplayer.
