the best comment ever! But you are 100% correct. Four absolute geniuses that don't care what genre of music they are playing...they just want to play it all.
@@jonmelissamcclain5009 The only people who seem to get hung about about genre, key, etc. are self-involved amateurs. These guys just hear... music. That's all.
I love the pure joy on Yo Yo Ma's face, the moment Edgar Meyer flips his tie out of the way. And the obvious esteem, respect and affection these world-class musicians share. Utter brilliance!
There is a musical revolution tsunami and his name is Chris Thile. His music provokes emotions that are reminiscent of an earlier era. Thankfully different. The incredible precision of this work mocks electronica with the beauty that emanates from these artists and their instruments.
This was the first CD I purchased since 2008. Don't ask me what I've been doing in its stead, but even with an Apple Music subscription I really felt that I needed to own this piece of incredible music.
What a time to be human! Cannot really get enough of this album even after listening to it all these years. My grandchildren are also going to rock this one 50 years from now for sure.
Absolutely love the Goat Rodeo Sessions, Attaboy especially is such an emotive and wonderful piece. I can't even express enough how much I love that piece, sadly when I try to convey that to others they are rarely so enthusiastic!
Besides Stu-Bob having the most amazing melodic sense and ideas, there is something about his timing that is just so..coherent. Don't know how to describe it.
I was wondering how much longer it would take before the world would be graced by a truly amazing musical collaboration of talent. It happens from time to time, but over the past 10 (or more) years something of this caliper has evaded me. I'm profoundly moved. I'm ecstatic. I'm thankful.
I think the reason I like cello so much is that the performer can be face full front. Watching Yo yo ma interact with and root for the other musicians is so lovely to see.
Tears of Joy! The conversation at the end is also worth listening to and mulling over. Chris and Aoife talking about how the lyrics for "Hear and Heaven" desire for "normal" and not "extreme". It is instructive on what the millennials actually desire and where the media is attempting to drive them. How the millenials are sidestepping the established heads of the "media" through technology. The differences between what is said and what was left unsaid are Interesting.
I can give links (I think) if you want?… Like I said Obviously it's not guys on this caliber but you'd be surprised, there's lots of talent that goes unnoticed.
Funny how Thile can't stop himself from being a frontman even tho it's clearly Yo-Yo's gig. Stuart Duncan knows his place as occasional comic relief and Edgar Meyer is the archetypical silent bassist, but Thile just has to get in there on the meaty questions. Great that he's got Punch Brothers now.
Looks like a Chamber Performance for, Google Employees? Now, very generously, shared, at decent quality, both A /and/ V, with everyone who can be monitored, just kidding..
This is Bluegrass that dropped out of high school and sneaked away to NYC and went to The Juilliard School of Music.

This is a once in a life time of genius coming together. This is beyond Juliard
Wow! Classic meets Country meets Cajun meets Celtic meets jazz. Strings and the masters who play them.
I love it when YoYo Ma almost jumps out of his chair. He's such a cutie.

Love seeing Yo Yo ma have so much fun while playing. He is really an incredible human being and artist.

Yes what a masterpiece to own a copy of a copy of...

Anyone else feel that Chris Thile goes into a trance when he plays his mandolin?
The brain power of these four (five) combined should generate more heat than a nuclear power plant. Just incredible!!!
What a time to be human! Cannot really get enough of this album even after listening to it all these years. My grandchildren are also going to rock this one 50 years from now for sure.
Agreed!
What great musicians! I love these instrumens. Yo Yo Ma I will always love and respect his work.

Some of the best music I've heard in years :-)
You'd expect Yo-Yo Ma to be amazing in a project like this, but he really leaps over those expectations. What a classy dude, and a great performer.
I just bought this CD.
Yo-yo Ma is truly a universal musician. I will always love and respect his work.

beautiful! enjoy this with coffee upon waking.
Four guys joyfully creating emotionally strengthening sound. Wow.

Shivers of sonic joy!
OMG...just stumbled on this today. Wow! What a mix of talent! Treasures...one and all...
Yo-Yo has a best smile-always looks like he’s thoroughly enjoying himself. Absolutely brilliant musicians all
I keep thinking about the time he left his 5-million-dollar cello in the trunk of a cab. My kind of guy!
The most refreshing, superb music I've listened to in decades!
Brilliant. I love anything that defies genre and is excellent. This fits the bill.
Paul
They all improvised the heck out of their solos, which, in this goat rodeo, impresses me to no end.
Yoyo and all you guys are insane and you can play for me anytime!!! I melt into it or meld!!

Today I heard a short part of this session on the Swiss radio. Luckily I wrote down the title and now I found it on UA-cam. Great!!
There is some serious musicianship on display here.
I think the reason I like cello so much is that the performer can be face full front. Watching Yo yo ma interact with and root for the other musicians is so lovely to see.
YESSSS !!!! Wonderfulllll !!!!! Thank you very much my brothers !!!
I need like 2-3 more albums 1 simply isn't enough.
"Not Our First Goat Rodeo" (most recent, in 2020), "Goat Rodeo Sessions" "Goat Rodeo Sessions Live"
Fantastic. It's a great string jam session.
I think they are sounding better and better together than the last time I heard them from previous UA-cam postings.
"musicians, we practise intuition all our life. Instinct plus experience, and then you learn to trust it, and then you go for precision" - Yo-Yo Ma
Grew up around some bluegrass. Mountains of Appalachia were filled with it . 🎵
Saw the live satellite simulcast concert this week. It was fantastic!
Im so jealous in him! How at all musicians getting into such a great projects????
Absolute Heaven. Captivating!

why do i love this so much?
@novembertalespinner The title is Quarter Chicken Dark. I am a bass player and this is one of the funkiest bass lines I've ever heard.
absolutely amazing
So beautiful...
Love it!

it's crazy how some people just seem to drip beauty on the world. this is like a flood!
Turns out to be Aoife O'Donovan.
@novembertalespinner I heard the title. I've heard this song a couple of times and missed the name.
9:49 is almost literally adding the blues back into bluegrass
Magic :)

yeah, I make these kinda videos at my studio, with talent that isn't far off these guys… but this just shows when you work with the best…. WOW!
You simply cannot be serious
"I don't want to know about Google+" ha!
好きだな!
Can anyone let me know what this tune is called?
11:50... FEELIN IT
The girl shaking her head at 2:11.
I wish I could comment, on so many levels, but I can’t.
LOL at the Google+ shotout.
What is the title of the song that begins at 9:51 on the video?
Good times. Remember when Google wasn't (as) evil?
I'm I the only one tempted to smoke a J and just listen to this forever?
