In my time, 2005, we already played a version of this sorceress. We called her The Dreamer, because you could take a nap while the other characters attacked you
This reminds me of my sorc dueling build back in the pre-expansion days. It used 3 perfect skulls in a helmet and spec'ed the rest of the gear for maximum life and mana regen + damage reduction. Stun lock was pretty much the only way to kill her and it usually required multiple high level duelers to deal enough damage
This was good in the early 2000s. Its weird being back on D2 now. No one builds the same. I am not sure why, because there are several good builds from back in the day that are still strong.
I played an ES Lightning Sorc for the majority of my D2 "career," ES is incredibly strong for defensive reasons but I found the insane damage potential of high rolls with Lightning to be super effective for bursting down players and FHR locking them. Easily one of the most underrated builds for 4v4 duels
agree, most people roll these boring colds thinking its on top of the food chain, until they get eaten that is. Light ES sorc is versatile and easy to play. Period.
I had 3 similar builds to this. One was orb, another firewall and third was nova sorc with infinity scythe. I used que-hegans armor on all of them instead of vmagi for more mana and fhr. All 3 builds were also unkillable. Especially the firewall sorc cuz of insane level of warmth constantly recharging mana. For BM players i also used insight staff on swap to teleport around and essentially heal myself. Cool video man, very nostalgic!
Because of this video we've seen a massive increase in Gerke's price! lol It's awesome!. The key important factor to this build are the MANA charms in your inventory - Making this build more expensive than it may seem at first. If you pull it off correctly, you don't see your health pool move at all (mine does not reach 1 and stay there). My mana pool takes a nose dive to zero and then all my HP follows suit. Regardless this is GREAT build and I really appreciate you sharing this information. I have created this build and am having a lot of fun in duel games. I have 4k mana 906 HP 86% fhr and 105% fcr. I do 900 orb damage with -200% cold resist from Cold mastery being maxed.
Holy crap! That is amazing! The level of math you had to do to figure all these variables out, and connect the dots was amazing! Seriously. WOW! Good stuff.
I never knew that magic damage reduction refers to elemental damage. I wondered about it often and never figured the numbers were high enough to matter, ever. I guess I was wrong XD I am soooo trying out this build!
I've seen this build used a few years ago by a sorc that was specialized at teleporting to baal hell... people resort to these crazy builds at hardcore :D
Heres a more simple idea - orb sorc with max TK + ES and you put around 50 replenish life or more to it. good luck killing that sorc in duels , does a bit more than firewall due to cold mastery btw

Haha yesterday i duelled a guy (Me full bowa vs him Barb) after he took 3 loses ...he said sec i change to sorc: Then he comes up with this exactly tank build.... rlly tanky... i got nearly no chance ...he tanked all my dmg to his mana ^^
I made this build back in 2006 and used to use it as my primary character (lightning build). I was completely unkillable and it was great. I found most of the best gear to be from patch 1.09. Using Nightsmoke (mesh belt -- upgraded) for the 50% dmg taken goes to mana, helps supplement the telekinesis synergy. Also Ith runes in gear, and + skill with dmg reduction amulets etc. You really hit most of this dead on though, and I'm really glad I'm not the only one out there. This is super ideal for PVM farming in groups, because you can teleport through anything taking 0 damage, and get your group where they need to go, while also tanking any enemies that need tanking. Only mana burn monsters can kill you.
damage taken goes to mana doesn't work like that. what dtgm does is you gain a certain amount of mana based on your total life lost, so for energy shield builds this is actually really useless. you don't lose a lot of life cos you lose mostly mana. for example if you lose 1000 mana and 10 life from a hit, that 50% damage taken goes to mana gives you back 50% of the 10 life lost. so you receive 5 mana. that's all it does
Very clever! I theorycrafted and developed similar sorc E.S builds, and use them for starting out in HC and not being susceptible to the insta-death that is fairly common to find in hell if low or ungeared). I never thought to use straight DR/MDR as a stopgap for the remaining damage. My ES focused builds tended somewhere around 70/30 energy to vitality so that I would have a bit more reaction time if something like a mana drain boss sneaks up to me. I do agree that the firewall build is by far the most synergistic, and most raw DPS , but for pve in my experience, ice ends up being the most safe and viable for hell. I typically will end up settling wtih F.Orb over Blizzard, this is mostly because there just aren't enough skill points to get blizzard to the DPS where its usefulness on bosses outweighs forb's usefulness in mob clearing, mana efficiency, & CC. Orb is on average, more mana efficient than blizzard, and very much moreso if you max warmth (because you still after maxing forb) alongside stacking mana per kill gear -- the second major difference between our builds -- mana per kill in place of damage reduction. Overall, the end result with mine is just extremely safe sorceress to break in a fresh HC playthrough account. It's for entirely differing reasons, but in 1.09 when guided arrow could pierce we considered it unkillable. Most of the meta builds for end game pvp at that time simply had no effective means to respond to it's playstyle--Kite it till it dies or quits! The only legitimate challenges came from being outplayed and or outgunned by similar builds, especially the high level GG variant of this build concept (the 33 kuko variant is specifically to add insult to injury in HL pvp games). If maphack was being used even similar builds weren't dangerous, just stalemates. It was a lot of fun while it lasted! This might be the first time I have encountered another build that is at least, if not more-so bad-mannered than that good ol griefer zon from 1.09--lol fantastic! Thanks for sharing Coooley!
This might be a stupid question, but how do you deal with cold immunes if frozen orb is your only source of damages? I used to play offline, and the only time I finished the game in hell, that was with a tri-elements build. Pretty inefficient, but mandatory for some monsters..
@@lucasmotte-michellon3193 Yeah Tri-elemental builds lack dps in hell for sure. Typically for my frozen orb sorc I will go firewall for my second element which allows me to still go with ES in HC but if playing softcore just skip ES and you can just about max all of firewall and FO dps and masteries. if their immune to cold and fire and merc isnt geared enough to kill just skip em meteor also works in this scenario but it's even more skill points to max out overall than firewall, and you definitely wont have enough for energy shield in that build unless you get a sorc staff or orb with energy shield skills on it already. Thanks, man! I appreciate that. And yes, the bomb codes have been delivered... The next video people will scope out is the Poison Nova build and the Poison Java zon :P hahaha
the main point of this build should be to frustrate BM players. All you need to do is not die, so you need frw mana scs and gcs, don't bother with things like damage done to opponent like fcr. Telekinesis, warmth and ES, then 1 point in all cold armors for different opponents, slowing them down, taking less damage. distribute points in thunderstorm, blaze and frozen orb to your preference. optimal gear: Helm: 25pdr 120mana 2 soc mal mal circlet Amulet: 25pdr 120 mana Boots: Safety Boots 2mdr 4pdr 40mana 30 frw 5repl life Weapon: oath 15magic absorb Armor: Gladiator Bane 20 pdr 20 mdr soc mal Shield: Gerke shield 16pdr 18mdr 15repl 74%block 30res soc mal set of sojs! string of ears 15mdr frostburn On switch: Insight staff 17medi 3 warmth 3 blaze 3thunder Inventory: Cube: memory / cta / 3 light amu / torch+anni 20stats 1 light sk 7 frw, for es perfect: 9*5frw 17mana / 7*7frw 59mana or: 3 frw 17 mana scs / 7*7frw 56-59mana GC
I can't believe I've never seen a video from you before thinking about making a sorc... Lmao what really caught me was the "and subscribe of you haven't already... for fucks sake" 😂 caught me off guard there i was hooked lol Got my sorc up to 73-ish in a week+ but this whole time I've still not found a single piece of the equipment... found my first "highly sought after equipment" today tal rashas belt thought not that i plan to use it because i tried and died instantly without my mana rejuv lol
You're not supposed to tell them. Been doing ES builds for decades. Been a long time since I played online, but having people go "WTF???" when you don't die and take little to no visible damage to health as expected is very satisfying, since they can't see how much mana is taking a hit between attacks. Not just in duels, but having everyone go into a horded cow portal just to die instantly and then you hop in and live and they're like 'HOW!??'. I should note I was doing this on Classic, not Expansion, so not quite so impervious, but still super sturdy. People who cheated and looked at what I was wearing would be confused by my equipment choices, which was annoying that they could see, but I felt comfortable knowing how sturdy my build was even if I wasn't great at killing stuff. The thing that people used to do in duels to kill me once they realized was bleed/poison me out.
You don't actually have to max energy shield, you need to reach 40 points to get to 95% which is the cap. However reaching 40 points without putting 20 hard points into the skill is a nuisance as you need to swap out your entire gear and inventory before casting energy shield and then put on your regular gear and inventory again, it's something to think about if you truly want to minmax things though.
You are 100% right. We actually do have a Memory staff in the cube and still need 18 hard points to get there. It's almost worth maxing it though, just in case you need to recast mid duel and can't swap out. Great point, though
Lol today i start thinking about the daaaamn Energy shield... its feel hard how easy to die with sorc so i dont really play with it in RES. then i see this skill... daaamn i say... if i get a frostburn and 2 soj. i got that much mana maybe i can get some hit before i die... + get some damaga goes to mana... that actually rebuild my "health"... then i think check some info from the net and find this.... this is absolutely awesome :D i never thinked with this skill and some trick can make an aaaaalmost immortal sorc... wtf :D Great work man. TY!
The best thing about Mana builds is that Mana pots become health pots and nobody can see when you use them in pk so you're basically getting away with cheating if you think about it
Definitely viable, I use(d) a similar variant of this build, a forb/warmth/mana per kill gear, often to break in a fresh account on HC until i can gear a meta build out of the dangerzone.
what up coooley? im diggin the videos! i remember seeing these bm characters with barb bo / medatation pal in town. i think alot of people pick blizz only because it is harder to sorb. i always built my es sorcs with an es bo staff and lower es lvl. id use vita inv and then just try to balance my stat points so my life and mana run out together when i die. i am going to try your version though lol looks cool. idk about fire wall but i got a 98 sorc almost 99 to play with.
This is a great troll build! I love it It also highlights some of the more obscure and overlooked mechanics of D2. As always I love the deeper dive of your content! Show us an update when you get a more perfected set of gear! Also, how does this do against poison necros and poison javazons?
Thank you so much, man! It does well against both of those AS LONG AS you do NOT get hit when you're at 1 life. Poison javs and novas always do 1 pt of damage to your life no matter what on the first frame, so you must avoid those situations at all costs.
about 10 years ago i made an orber version of this following the same concept i went dol instead of mal due to not knowing that mechanic back then wasnt tell a few years later i learned it but the build worked just as well funny thing is i called it the cold immortal sorc due to it being unkillable i even managed to kill a few druids with it which was my biggest weakness i did well vs sorcs just needed to not let them lock me down also for rabies you can negate it by treating it as a poison that cant be removed by antidote guardian angel and poison stack is very affective iv tested it get 95% poison res and 75% plr and at most a perfect rabies poison damage will do is 300 with 30 rep you will only die if you let the dog bite your leg over and over
I still remember the days of perm bugged mana charms. +70 to mana +15 to life decryptify charms lol. An entire inventory full of those a bugged tal rasha's armor could give you 10,000 mana after battle orders and battle command
thing is, mdr/pdr is applied before resistances, not after. so this isnt quite as explained in the video. the pdr/mdr overflow will be applied as the very last, however. the other of things is: PVP penalty Cyclone Armor and Bone Armor Energy Shield Flat Damage Reduction Resistances % Absorb Flat Absorb Flat Damage Reduction Overflow
You can use a lot of different with this sorc, you can swap magi for gladiators bane, use string of ears, you could also use wizspike instead of hoto. Be really bad manner you can use fade and high barb bo hah!
Been so many years since I played D2 but can't you make a Melee Sorc with this idea since you are a tank. I remember ppl using bugged small +90 mana charms with this.
Funny story... We actually built a bugged version of this with those charms on stream! 5.7k mana! The most critical part was DR and I'd imagine that's especially the case of you're going to try to melee your opponent. Would be a phenomenal thing to test; wonder how much the charms would end up "competing" with each other though (assuming we'd need a lot of AR)
@@Coooley Just came back to this video again and missed your response and story. Must of been crazy with 5.7k mana. I just bought D2R to mess around decided to play New World first and I might try to make some ES Melee build. Is PvP active in D2R?
In pd2 it's even more broken, you can get the property that gains mana when damage taken so you basically autoheal. Getting life replenish keeps you topped off as well.
I have a -71 phys damage necro that tanks for minions. Poison and effects do not get through and being decrepified doesn't matter most of the time because it counts as hitting with the original damage before it doubles on you. Weaken's -33% equates to 51% actual, and with it applied to their damage output I can do this to hell high hitters. At 20skill it covers the screen before I run into them. I have a tank for a necro and it costs gear.
it'll be a while lol. Its EXTREMELY and overwhelmingly item dependent. Barring some freak bug, there wont be the same mass dupes that are on the base game; so getting full high end loot will take a long time.
Great video. I just have one suggestion. I assume this video is meant for beginners or players like me coming back to the game after many years. In order to build the wind druid you need to start with a different build and then respect once you reach level 30. I don't know if this applies to any other build that you mention in the video but for a new comer it is relevant to know.
Coooley, which sorceress builds are strongest in Hell without skipping immunities? And i dont have Plugy and i play on Single player, so i cant make a spirit for lightning immunities ect. I have heard that Meteorb, Blizzwall and Orblight is some of the best dual sorc, what is your expert opinion?
This build (Firewall, Warmth, Firemastery, Telekinesis & Energyshield) was actually the first that came to my mind when Firewall got synergies in v1.14 . But I never thought about the potential flat damage reduction could have, although I have always valued those stats on items. Do you have an in-depth analysis of the way it actually works with 1 health? Do you die if hit twice in one frame? Is it calcualted with fractions of hitpoints?
We usually get put to 1 life due to Poison or Open Wounds. With OW, that's literally the only thing damaging us for the most part and it can't actually kill you. There are TWO psn attacks (to my knowledge) that ALWAYS do 1 pt of damage to your life total before doing anything else... Poison Nova and Poison/Plague Jav. So if you're at 1 life with this build, try not to get it by those specific attacks until you've regenerated at least 1 health. Aside from that though (and as mentioned) very, very high amounts of elemental damage (and physical, really) will cause a slight loss of life, too. It all comes down to how much PDR/MDR you were able to actually stack up.
That explaines why I got stuck at some point trying to mitigate the poison jav damage at nihlathaks. Somehow I never bothered to test it in different locations. Thanks!
In my time, 2005, we already played a version of this sorceress. We called her The Dreamer, because you could take a nap while the other characters attacked you

10/10 Video - some funny moments in there
Thanks, man! I appreciate that. And yes, the bomb codes have been delivered... The next video people will scope out is the Poison Nova build and the Poison Java zon :P hahaha
Rabies!>>> xD that sidenote was priceless.
poison javelin rips through that 800 life really fast too and then kills you just like rabies
Nova necro, don't even have to get near them.
What if you have 95% poison resist
Fire wall is probably the most underrated lvl 18 spell in entire game. The damage is insane.
the main point of this build should be to frustrate BM players.

Cant wait to play D2 for 10+ years again when remastered comes out :D
Your knowledge of D2 is just plain out SCARY!!!
Too Coooley for Schoooley. Always great vids bro!
Glad you put it to the test. Was wondering how it would do in PvP.
I can't believe I've never seen a video from you before thinking about making a sorc...
Lmao what really caught me was the "and subscribe of you haven't already... for fucks sake" 😂 caught me off guard there i was hooked lol
Got my sorc up to 73-ish in a week+ but this whole time I've still not found a single piece of the equipment... found my first "highly sought after equipment" today tal rashas belt thought not that i plan to use it because i tried and died instantly without my mana rejuv lol
Oh man, i will like to see a walktrough of this sorceress
They call him Mr. Coooley cause he is the coolest!
Can’t wait to play my *sork* eress in D2R!!
Don't forget to hire a mers
You don't actually have to max energy shield, you need to reach 40 points to get to 95% which is the cap. However reaching 40 points without putting 20 hard points into the skill is a nuisance as you need to swap out your entire gear and inventory before casting energy shield and then put on your regular gear and inventory again, it's something to think about if you truly want to minmax things though.
You are 100% right. We actually do have a Memory staff in the cube and still need 18 hard points to get there. It's almost worth maxing it though, just in case you need to recast mid duel and can't swap out. Great point, though
7:51 gotta love those bugs :D
Lol today i start thinking about the daaaamn Energy shield... its feel hard how easy to die with sorc so i dont really play with it in RES. then i see this skill... daaamn i say... if i get a frostburn and 2 soj. i got that much mana maybe i can get some hit before i die... + get some damaga goes to mana... that actually rebuild my "health"... then i think check some info from the net and find this.... this is absolutely awesome :D i never thinked with this skill and some trick can make an aaaaalmost immortal sorc... wtf :D Great work man. TY!
Used to call em ES Sorc back in the day! one of my fave builds
finaly thats the build i alway wanted to see someone do XD
coooley been subscribed for a minute, you're entertaining af... keep it gangsta
Always had one on hc ladder east Quiky, just came back to the game after a 4 years Hammadins go crazy. got to look for fire sorc though RIP
The best thing about Mana builds is that Mana pots become health pots and nobody can see when you use them in pk so you're basically getting away with cheating if you think about it
I used to love using Fire Wall and Blizzard years ago (pre 1.10)
Omg I have never ever thought that someone could make ES build sorc work in PvP
Depends what “work” means. Your main ability is Firewall for crying out loud.
@@psychotic4560 yeah it's more of a concept build, the only concept being nutralizing damage haha.
Thx For showing the build I always wanted to try but have no time to build. Subscribed !
SnG guild welcomes this coverage of an epic troll build.
Always wanted to make one of these for PVM
Definitely viable, I use(d) a similar variant of this build, a forb/warmth/mana per kill gear, often to break in a fresh account on HC until i can gear a meta build out of the dangerzone.
what up coooley? im diggin the videos! i remember seeing these bm characters with barb bo / medatation pal in town. i think alot of people pick blizz only because it is harder to sorb. i always built my es sorcs with an es bo staff and lower es lvl. id use vita inv and then just try to balance my stat points so my life and mana run out together when i die. i am going to try your version though lol looks cool. idk about fire wall but i got a 98 sorc almost 99 to play with.
this bild was found in d2 lord off destruction about 15 years ago , Energy Shield 95% + items with dmg reduced by- xx and replenish life
This is a great troll build! I love it
It also highlights some of the more obscure and overlooked mechanics of D2.
Is faster cast rate that important for this build? If not, wouldn't using The Gladiator's Bane make the build even stronger?
Loved the video. Softcore dueling seem to be a completely different universe compare to what I am used to :P.
LOL at 0:48, grabbing the baba's gold after PK.🤣
Interesting post. Like the analysis.
As a sorceress main I'm a little salty you put this out there!
Well just know, that your REAL sorceress will likely always win against this build haha
@@Coooley nope, if you get the right gear, you'll just never lose to a pvp sorc, you just won't win either, but that's not the goal of this build
I love the sorcs death scream.
about 10 years ago i made an orber version of this following the same concept i went dol instead of mal due to not knowing that mechanic back then wasnt tell a few years later i learned it but the build worked just as well funny thing is i called it the cold immortal sorc due to it being unkillable i even managed to kill a few druids with it which was my biggest weakness i did well vs sorcs just needed to not let them lock me down also for rabies you can negate it by treating it as a poison that cant be removed by antidote guardian angel and poison stack is very affective iv tested it get 95% poison res and 75% plr and at most a perfect rabies poison damage will do is 300 with 30 rep you will only die if you let the dog bite your leg over and over
I still remember the days of perm bugged mana charms. +70 to mana +15 to life decryptify charms lol. An entire inventory full of those a bugged tal rasha's armor could give you 10,000 mana after battle orders and battle command
We need this build in Diablo Immortal
funniest D2 vid in quite a while.. wel done :)
thing is, mdr/pdr is applied before resistances, not after. so this isnt quite as explained in the video. the pdr/mdr overflow will be applied as the very last, however. the other of things is:
PVP penalty
Cyclone Armor and Bone Armor
Energy Shield
Flat Damage Reduction
Resistances
% Absorb
Flat Absorb
Flat Damage Reduction Overflow
You can use a lot of different with this sorc, you can swap magi for gladiators bane, use string of ears, you could also use wizspike instead of hoto. Be really bad manner you can use fade and high barb bo hah!
Haha Cooley does it again! :D
Amazing! I always loved playing ES-Orb soso-s but this is next level xD
Haha definitely a troll build would be fun for the bm moments for sure great video!
Cool video! Any PvP build for shockwave druid?
Yeah, reroll lol.
Indeed it is! Alive and well!
Great video. Love watching you PvP!
In pd2 it's even more broken, you can get the property that gains mana when damage taken so you basically autoheal. Getting life replenish keeps you topped off as well.
Damage to mana does nothing when using energy shield
I have a -71 phys damage necro that tanks for minions. Poison and effects do not get through and being decrepified doesn't matter most of the time because it counts as hitting with the original damage before it doubles on you. Weaken's -33% equates to 51% actual, and with it applied to their damage output I can do this to hell high hitters. At 20skill it covers the screen before I run into them. I have a tank for a necro and it costs gear.
Very cool. I'll have to try this in D2R
it'll be a while lol. Its EXTREMELY and overwhelmingly item dependent. Barring some freak bug, there wont be the same mass dupes that are on the base game; so getting full high end loot will take a long time.
My mind is blown by this build, amazing. Hopefully can use this and confuse the f*ck out of PKrs in HC in D2R
Yeah I am blown away by the overlooked concept.
what about x% damage goes to mana? Or perhaps a double dream variant?
this is awesome, I`m definitly building one immortal sorc!
wow nice diadem (spirit visage) :O absolutly beast head slot
This is HILARous. Funny af build lol. x'D !
I would go with Meteorb. Still f'd if you run into a double immune, but they're pretty effective!
7:52 rofl the vape hit😂
Very entertaining content. Subbed.
Tons of information here
Awesome video! Busted build 😂
Thanks!
I can already tell this shit is lit by the music thumbs up
