ATTENTION!!!!! YOU CAN USE YOUR TRUCK DIPSTICK AND TUBE WITH THIS PAN! If you don’t want to buy an LS3 dipstick and tune, you need to cut your truck dipstick so that it only comes 2 1/2” out of the bottom of the tube. Then measure 1 1/8” up from the new bottom of the dipstick and scratch a new full mark there.
Then you should watch the video again and pay attention to the part where I show you how to trim your baffle to clear the pickup tube. 🤣 It’s the exact same process that the Holley pan requires. But I covered it in detail in this video since these pans don’t come with instructions. 😉
It appears there is some confusion over the size of the turbo drain lines on this pan. The fittings are 1/2”NPT, which is equivalent to a -10AN fitting. When adapting NPT to AN the standards are: NPT sizes 1/8npt = -4AN 1/4npt = -6AN 3/8npt = -8AN 1/2npt = -10AN 3/4npt = -12AN When adapting LINE size to AN, the measurements are: LINE sizes 1/4= -4AN 3/8 = -6AN 1/2 = -8AN 5/8= -10AN 3/4= -12AN So here is the fitting you will need to run a -10AN drain line: rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp2334524.m570.l1311.R1.TR2.TRC1.A0.H0.TRS0%26_nkw%3D1%252F2%2Bnpt%2Bto%2B10an%26_sacat%3D6028%26LH_TitleDesc%3D0%26_osacat%3D6028%26_odkw%3D1%252F2%2522npt%2Bto%2B-10%2BAN&campid=5338299795&toolid=20008 I hope that clears this issue up. -Robert@BLG
No sir. The gap is a larger than the thickness of the pan gasket. This is the same modification that has to be made to the Holley pans. The last thing you want to do is to smash the oil pan down against the wind age tray. This could bent the windage tray in and cause it to make contact with one of the counterweights only the crankshaft! NOT a good idea! As for the oil filter, I would LOVE to see you pre-fill and oil filter and install it upside down. 🤣 The filter will be filled and reinstalled and engine filled with oil once the engine is in the vehicle. You don’t “prefill” on an engine stand when you’re going to be rotating the engine around unless you want a mess in your garage floor. This goes double for an engine with no heads bolted in yet as seen in the video.
This info is useful, thanks for posting. I just wanted to point out Hydraulic JIS fittings have cylindrical threads, and NPT is National Pipe Thread, which is slightly tapered. The "dash ten" / -10 means 10/16ths, or also 5/8ths. When tightened down, perhaps it will not leak, but...I would recommend finding an adapter fitting that is JIS on one side, and NPT on the other. An un-pressurised drain should be fairly easy to seal from leaks, either way....
@@ronroberts110 The pan is threaded for NPT fitting. You just need a 1/2"NPT to -10 AN adapter. Its the most common part when running a Turbo oil return and is around $5. I have several from previous builds. You can use a JIS fitting if you like, but there really isn't any cost saving when you're talking about sure a cheap piece anyway, so I would just stick with AN.

Thanks for watching Jarod! Yes sir! It’s the 81074 pan I believe. Very similar to the Holley 302-1 except for a few minor differences. The entire reason I sought out this pan and made this video was to help people out who like myself either don’t want to pay $350 for a pan or simply don’t have it in the budget. So if you know of anyone else that could use it, please share this video and help get the word out!
One thing you can do for that bottom pickup tube bolt. Take one of those telescopic magnets and stick it on your Allen wrench and it will magnetize it so your bolt won’t fall off.
I ordered the same pan 5 days ago, its supposed to be on the door step tomorrow morning. I was gonna share it on the FB page as soon as I knew if it was worth the money. Only difference, unfortunately mine doesn’t have the turbo oil drains. Good to know that it looks like a good quality pan.
I actually contacted Poor Man Motorports last week and asked specifically for a pan with turbo returns. They made it available two days later and I ordered one to review and install. If you need those returns you may be able to exchange it depending on who you ordered from. 😉
Bad Luck Garage I ordered mine from good ol’ Amazon lol. I had never heard of the company until I found that pan. I think I might get in contact with them and see how hard it would be to do a oil pan swap, thanks for the idea. Also I’d like to add, great video man👍🏻
Silicone where the covers meet the block is critical. On the 4.8 I just dropped in the 86 GMC, I used what I thought was a sufficient amount, & apparently it wasn’t. I filled it with oil & spun it over to verify oil pressure while it was still on the stand. A few days later, I looked down, spotted oil on the floor, & had a drip at the seam above the starter. Dropped the pan & re-sealed it, & let it sit about another week to make sure there was no more leaks. Easier to do while still on the stand rather than after it was in the truck.
Yes sir and you’d be surprised how many people argue against doing it dispute that fact that EVERY oil pan manufacturer and even GM tells you to do it. Hell they even build in silicone “traps” into the corners of the pan gaskets solely for this purpose but people still don’t do it. 🤦🏼♂️
Depends on which engine mount system you use. The pan in this video will fit perfectly regardless of which mounts you use so there’s no surprises or modifications needed and comes with all necessary hardware. That’s why I recommend it over the 4th gen pan.
Hey man. On the side where the pick up tube goes; i can fit like a sheet of paper in between the block and pan but not on the other side. Do;i need to cut some more or im good ?(no tube, gasket installed)
This video is four years old. At the time TSP was the only company making these pans and I actually received this one a week before they went public. They were a game changer as up until that point Holley was the only game in town. Now there are non-TSP copies all over eBay and Amazon and it’s pretty much common knowledge.
I don't understand why TSP would have got all the specs perfect for the 5.3 but not anticipate the windage tray. I'd like to have a mechanic swap out the 5.3 oil pan in my 55 chevy 210 for the TSP one, but I don't know if a shop would agree to cut the windage tray. Are there any of these low pro pans that don't require a modification to the windage tray in the 5.3?
lol Robert I am half blind and have to wear glasses to pass drivers license renewal. That being said, I always have eye protection on. I have Tinnitus bad in my ears from years of motorcycle riding and drag racing without hearing protection. Take care of your senses guys but have fun at the same time. :)
Most LS blocks do not have that bolt tapped. Only the early LS1 blocks do. The pan has the bolt hole and comes with the extra bolt in case you’re using an early block that has it.
@@privatename8888 Thank you. I appreciate the offer. We actually partnered with Poorman Motorsports where we originally purchased this pan 2 years ago (shortly after making this video) and receive wholesale pricing through them now. 👍
I just bought a pick up 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 used to be a v6 And previous owner Swaps at 6.0l la engine on it When I just bought a truck I checked the oil level and it was overfilled I drain it out just a little Cause I thoug is overfilled In like a week ago just did my first oil change and I put 4 1/2 quart of the Oil And in the dipstick Shows overfilledWith only 4 1/2 qt the oil And I know the 6.0l holds 6qt the oil And I got the same aftermarket oil pan like this guy can please somebody help me up
I was going to ask about the dipstick but I just had to watch the full video I’m sorry the Holley pan didn’t work I was going to by it for my nova swap but now I’m going to get this pan I believe you helped a lot of people from wasting money and time thank you
No brother. The Holley 302-3 pan we used on the DRNova fit just fine. This engine is for the Choas Theory Camaro build. It’s important to note that Holley makes three different oil pans and each is made to fit a different set of applications. The same is true for these TSP oil pans. They make three different designs to fit different applications. Links to all three are in the video description. 👍🏻
@@LC-fl3zm Its all good brother! We've got several different vehicles on thee channel so it gets confusing sometimes. I separate them each into their own playlists, But since we work on them alternately, sometimes the videos kinda flow together.
All I can tell you is set the engine on the mounts and find the best spot. Every vehicle will be different depending on how you build your hot side, what accessories and brackets you use, etc.
Damn just bought the Holley 302-3 pan before I saw this video. I Paid around 300.00 and didn’t even get the gasket. It going in my 70 chevelle. Man would love to see a side by side comparison between the two brands. I’m subscribing.
I did an install video of the Holley 302-3 pan in the DR Nova playlist last year. As for a side by side comparison, if you click the links in the description, there are pictures and measurements fir the 3 different TSP oil pans. You can goto holleys website and find the same information and compare them. They're very similiar but at the same time there are numerous differences that let you know they're not just copies of each other.
The gap is definitely larger than the thickness of the pan gasket. So it’s still going to have to be clearances back to the step in the pan regardless. This is the same modification required on the Holley oil pans. You can see me following the Holley directions to do this in previous videos. I only chose to show why it was necessary in this video because these pans do not come with instructions. 👍
They may have changed it. But they make three different pans so it could be a mixup in descriptions as well. When I made this video over a year ago only one of their pans was speced for a 4” stroke and the one I used in this video had just come to market.
Most of oil filter adaptor bolts, have the same thread on the oil pan side. The oil filter for rate of flow, physical size, capacity and service length are factors the engineering department uses to choose a filter. The filter media for the most part remains the same but they use three different oil relief valve sizes. So basically, if this pan/engine combo is new to a swap vehicle, but you have a stash of PF46 filters for the families daily driver, use a breaker bar and fetch one. The have a dry blue thread locker on them, when the dealer box is opened. You have metric oil pan threads unless you go before 97 on most. I was hoping to see a pan used for the 67 - 72 C10 in your other videos, so I will watch them. I would have printed “Top Street Performance & P/N on paper, tape it to cardboard and display on the right side of the bench for the first half. I am subscribed and enjoy. Retired ASE Master Tech
There are links for all three of the TSP oil pan variations with part numbers in the description of the video brother. No need to tape up signs. 😉 When swapping into trucks I’ve always just used the stock truck pan. But I’d be willing to bet any of the three TSP pans would work just fine in a C10 since there’s plenty of room. 👍🏻

I’ve never used a Melling pump on any of the builds in this channel. If I replace the pump at all it’s usually in favor of the later model AC Delco HV pumps used on the 07-up DOD engines.
If you’re referring to the windage tray yes, the Holley pans require the same modification. I actually stated in the video that the Holley pan comes with instructions on how to do it, I showed you how to do it without the instructions since these don’t come with any. 👍
Most likely yes. Click on the link in the video description and you should be able to find a list of applications for each of the pans they make to be sure.
As with anything else, it depends on your application. I’ve never used one. But if you’re going to be using the vehicle for heavy towing or a road race vehicle that will be sustaining high rpm for long periods of time then an oil cooler would probably help.
Question Robert. Is there not a bolt that goes in the second hole up from the front of the filter. Will say a very nice looking pan. And a very informative video great job alot of people should find this very helpful.
There’s a hole in the pan there, but not in the block. This was a thing throughout the years. Some LS style blocks have this hole, some do not. This pan and gasket have the hole so it accommodates both types. 👍
Wow, I followed a link to order this drain Pan. The seller is actually horse power club. I am currently dealing with him shipping me the 81074BK It did not come with the 2 drainage ports for a twin Turbo. I order 81075bk , he shipped wrong one. Just like you stated in your video the 81075 has 2 bungs. The seller is telling me that his drain pans do not come with pre drilled bungs for turbo drains. (He's lieing) He just doesn't want to pay for shipping for this one to go back and ship me the 1 that I ordered. This is a great channel just want to let you know, Maybe you can consider not too recommend that outlet anymore. I'm going to post a video on my channel about the hole ordeal. Thanks
abreezeducttesting Your ordered from the wrong seller. You should have went with Poorman Motorsports like I recommended in the video brother. The owner Scott is a great guy. I’ve never dealt with or recommended “Horsepower Club”.
@@BadLuckGarage Yeah , I remember now . But I just clicked and it found that other outlet. I'm pissed at That guy. He is a jackass. They keep avoiding the return issue. Well thanks buddy I'll be more careful. Thanks again for the great info on your channel.
Brother I wish I could just direct link with eBay. But the problem is if I do a direct link then once that listing expires (usually after 30 days) then the link goes dead. So I would have to remember to go back on every single video and post hundreds of new links every time one expired, lol. So that’s why I use search links instead and usually just tell people the seller I bought from in the video. Anyway I hope that guy fixes the issue for you. If not just file and eBay complaint, get your money back, and order from Poorman Motorsports instead. He’s been really good to this channel and to everyone I’ve sent his way. Matter of fact I think he’s about to become a partner with the channel really soon!
Thanks for watching and for the kind words! I’m assuming you’re referring to the 81074 pan? It’s also the only pan they make that allows clearance for a stroker engine. I’m already planning to use that pan on the stroker build that will eventually go into Chaos Theory.
Yes they are the same. I actually saved around $9 plus shipping ordering them separate on ebay. But Holleys got free shipping till the end of April so that helps a little.
hey @badluck garage , just want to make sure this will work with my BONE STOCK LQ4? its untouched inside and out just asking because of what you said about cranks and stuff
Nice Vid bro!! I have a few questions for ya if you would. How likely can this be installed on engine 5.3 that is already installed in my 77 Buick Regal with the stock pan I didn’t have clearance issues before because I had it lifted but now Im lowering and I need clearance on the lower end of the pan. I’m sure it will fit just wondering if I can do it without lifting the motor out. Thanks in Advance
Bad Luck Garage Thanks for the reply, I’m gonna order and see I’m sure if the truck one fits which is a way bigger bigger overall I’m sure this one will work being that it’s a much more shallow pan, thanks
Ok it sounded like you were asking about installing the pan while the engine was in the vehicle. Hence my response. If you’re just asking if it will fit your application, then click on the links and there will be application guides from the seller stating what cars the pan fits. I’m pretty sure all three style will fit a g-body. 👍
Poorman Motorsports sells a windage tray for these oils pans. Of course they still have to be modified as shown in the video. No windage tray is going to fit without modification.
Hey Brother. Thanks for the $100 save. I am doing a Thirdgen Camaro with 5.3/4L60e. If you put this in your thirdgen, Did you have to notch the K member? I am hoping this pan will clear it. I really don’t want to notch it.
No sir. Theres all kinds of room. Check out the rest of the Chaos Theory playlist, I actually show me putting my fat hand between this oil pan and the k-member theres so much room.
Hey Robert, any idea which one of these, if either, would be equivalent to the Holley 302-2? I'm looking at using a No Limit IFS on a C-10 swap which requires the 302-2.
Both the pan in the video(75) and the (73) pans are very close to the Holley 302-2 in dimension. None of them are “exact” copies, but if you goto the links in the video description, you can download the the pictures of the pans and the dimensions and compare them to the Holley pans. They are VERY similiar, but there are some differences in the flanges and in the areas where the pans “step” down and even in the dumps themselves.
Yea GM markets those pans as muscle car pans but ultimately they were designed for use in the H2 hummers and have several shortcomings when used in aftermarket applications. Depth being the biggest shortcoming as they’re only a little over an inch shorter than the regular truck pans.
@@Swaps-n-Stuff77 have you switched to this pan yet? I'm curious, because I have a 71 cutlass that I'm preparing to swap. The mounts I'm using say go with the Holley pan as well. I'd like to save $$ where I can. Thanks
@@BadLuckGarage i have an lq4 also no i need to order a different windage tray? or can i use my lq4 one. and can i also use my stock lq4 dipstick and tube? thank you BLG
It looks great. Similar to the speed engineering pan but with turbo drains for the same price. This video reminded me that I need to change the oil in the truck. Lunch time activities!
I have no personal experience with the gen 5 engines but It is my understanding that the gen 3 and 4 LS oil pans are in fact compatible with the gen 5 engines. But as I always say, do your research and be sure.
I just purchased this pan. The pickup tube was hitting the oil pan baffle. Had to cut a decent amount out of the baffle. I'm a little worried about it cracking now. It looks like they changed the pickup tube from the one in the video.
Yes, you have to cut the windage tray. . Just like you do with the Holley pan, or the SE pan, or any other low profile aftermarket pan. This procedure is covered in the video. If you’re referring to the actual baffle in the bottom of the pan then either you didn’t trim enough off the windage tray and it was holding the pickup tube up at a weird angle, or you got a bad pickup tube and should have returned it. Poorman Motorsports has very good customer support. That’s why I recommended getting it there. Either way you risk the pickup tube not being seated properly and possible causing low oil pressure and engine failure. I would highly recommend you pinpoint the exact problem and either return the pan for a new one or make sure the problem is properly remedied before starting that engine.
You don’t trim the baffle, you trim the windage tray. Again, if you had to trim the baffle then you either didn’t trim enough off the windage tray to allow the pickup tube to sit all the way down or the pickup tube was bent wrong and you should have sent it back.
Great video! It looks like this would work when putting in a LS in my 1966 Chevelle. Was thinking about going old school 350 due to costs. But with this pan that would save $100 bucks from the start. Thanks
There is less than an 1/8th” or difference in clearance between this and the 302-3 pan in most areas. Checking the specifications at the link I provided in the video description will give you the dimisionsa and also shows this pan is stated as fitting 64-72 A-bodies.
Thanks for the reply back. I do know that the 66 and 67 Chevelles have tight clearance on both the crossmember area and steering linkage. Has anyone installed one of these pans in a 66 or 67 Chevelle yet? If I do get this pan I will let everyone know how it turns out. Thanks all Eric
This is actually very similiar in dimension to the Holley 302-3 pan that we used in the DRNova. If you click the link in the video description, it will take to the seller. He has the picture of the pans measurements as well as a list of vehicles it is intended for. I’m pretty sure Apollo, Nova, Omega, Ventura is in the list. 👍🏻
This could be. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the same manufacturer. I’m fairly certain these are made in China as are Speed Engineering products. The Holley pans we’ve used in this channel in the past are as well.
Bad Luck Garage actually just took a closer look at the speed engineering site, it isn’t the same model as the one you have. Doesn’t have a notch for the crank. But it is also 250 with all the parts and gasket. I got the Holley for my 72 el Camino swap but these pans weren’t out yet. Crazy to buy an oil pan worth more than what I paid for the whole engine!
Yes, they have 3 different pans as I mentioned in the video. This is the most expensive. The other two are $244 shipped but don’t have turbo drain bungs. Links for all three are in the video description. And I’m with you 100% on the paying more for the pan than the engine thing. Thats why I made this video. I’m constantly seeing people online asking about cheaper pan options so I thought I’d throw this out and try to help some people out and let them know there are cheaper options out there that are still good quality. 👍🏻
@@BadLuckGarage i just bought the speed engineering one its also great buy but i notiiced on mine and yours it looks like the pickup tube is kinda kinked>? on the bends and slightly janky did you ahve any issues?
At first, I thought this was another 302-3 and was going to claim photoshop! You cant own the actual Holley version without red fingerprints all over it! I'm pretty sure I even cut myself on the cardboard box taking it out lol. Then I thought $500 isn't to budget in my book but ill check it out. Think my 302 was right under $500 with a gm gasket, new bolts, and that Gm dipstick, corvette I think you have to buy to make it work. Sure it was with 2 two -10s and turbo oil feed. Now I'm just pissed I didn't wait and save a ton of money on something I'm worried to death to drive into the ground in the near future.
First of all, if you watched the video you would know this isn’t an fbody pan. Second, the rock auto pans don’t come with all the hardware and gaskets that these come with.
I apologize then. Maybe I took it wrong but it seemed that you were saying this was an Fbody pan. So I just assumed you hadn’t watched the video. Brother I get so many off the wall comments on here that sometimes I’m not sure how to take things anymore. If I’m being honest, my faith in humanity has been lowered considerably since I started this channel 3 years ago. 🤣
Standard size. 🤷🏼♂️ The overall area of the opening in the pickup is still larger than the overall area of the pickup tube itself. So the pickup tube is more of a restriction than the pickup tube opening.
Brother I’ve been at the dragstrip all day. I’m not trying to be sarcastic, but between the comment section, email, and messenger I receive between 30-100+ questions a day. That’s why I take the time to put so many details in the videos and place product links in the descriptions. So everything you need to know is available to you at the click of a mouse curser. So when I say “the answers are in the video”, I’m not trying to be a dick, I’m simply stating a fact. I spend hours filming and editing these videos so that you and others will have the information you need without it being necessary for me to type it all out 30 to 100 times in the comment section. 😉
Thanks for watching. The Fbody pan doesn’t fit every application and doesn’t come with all gaskets and accessories. By the time you buy all the additional items the cost is very similar. These pans come with all new gaskets, bolts, and accessories and are available in three different models to fit any application. They are also available in raw aluminum, black, or polished if you’re worried about looks. 👍

That’s the 81074 Pan. They make 3 different ones. I have links to all three in the video description. That pan is very similiar to the original Holley 302-1 pan I believe.
@@BadLuckGarage $99 dollars and free shipping. Sadly the pan on sale doesn't fit G-bodies, but I was thinking that with a 1 inch setback motor mount kit it might work. The pan itself is cheap, yes. But the “kit” with all the accessories is well over $350 which makes this package over $100 cheaper and fits more applications than the fbody pan.

It appears there is some confusion over the size of the turbo drain lines on this pan. The fittings are 1/2”NPT, which is equivalent to a -10AN fitting.

I'm very grateful for the video. They sell a pan that resembles the 302-1 pan but way cheaper! Now I can begin the swap into the 67 impala.
FYI use the vaseline in the head of the allen head bolt to help hold on allen wrench when installing 19:27 into video
Good tip brother! Thanks!👍🏻
One thing you can do for that bottom pickup tube bolt. Take one of those telescopic magnets and stick it on your Allen wrench and it will magnetize it so your bolt won’t fall off.
Have the same pan and has a noob glad to figure out that I still use the oem windage tray
Glad you found the video helpful brother. 👍
So I’m trying to get my pan same has this one,if I line the rear bolt holes the rest don’t
@@pjl1919 Yea I’ve never seen that issue ever. I’d contact TSP for a replacement.
Bad Luck Garage I ordered mine from good
ol’ Amazon lol. I had never heard of the company until I found that pan. I think I might get in contact with them and see how hard it would be to do a oil pan swap, thanks for the idea. Also I’d like to add, great video man👍🏻
Good luck brother. I hope they help you out.
I almost ordered up a Holley pan, I’m glad I seen this video
Glad to hear brother. That’s $100+ that you can now spend on other parts for your swap!
Haha yeah I’m gonna need it lol doing a swap in a 72 camaro

Would the LS1 Camaro oil pan work on a 3th gen Camaro?
Depends on which engine mount system you use. The pan in this video will fit perfectly regardless of which mounts you use so there’s no surprises or modifications needed and comes with all necessary hardware. That’s why I recommend it over the 4th gen pan.
@@BadLuckGarage thanks
I got the same pan n I measured it per mellings calls for the black oring.. something like .84 or 87 but I see u used the green one.. n I just did it
The pan comes with the appropriate oring for the pickup tube it comes with.
Hey man. On the side where the pick up tube goes; i can fit like a sheet of paper in between the block and pan but not on the other side. Do;i need to cut some more or im good ?(no tube, gasket installed)
I bought the same style pan 302-2 had everything you showed for 125.oo of Ebay
This video is four years old. At the time TSP was the only company making these pans and I actually received this one a week before they went public. They were a game changer as up until that point Holley was the only game in town. Now there are non-TSP copies all over eBay and Amazon and it’s pretty much common knowledge.
Do you know which Poor man Motorsport baffle will fit this 81075 pan?

What about for 1987 Monte Carlo 5.3 engine?
I don't understand why TSP would have got all the specs perfect for the 5.3 but not anticipate the windage tray. I'd like to have a mechanic swap out the 5.3 oil pan in my 55 chevy 210 for the TSP one, but I don't know if a shop would agree to cut the windage tray. Are there any of these low pro pans that don't require a modification to the windage tray in the 5.3?
No. as explained in the video the Holley pans require the exact same modifications

My wifey keeps me in check with that stuff. It’s a good thing too because I’m a total safety hazard. 😂
Why are you missing a bolt next to the oil filter?
Most LS blocks do not have that bolt tapped. Only the early LS1 blocks do. The pan has the bolt hole and comes with the extra bolt in case you’re using an early block that has it.

Brother the Holley pan worked just fine. It’s just that these are a better deal AND you get more gaskets and hardware with these. 👍🏻
Bad Luck Garage o really ok I thought it didn’t clear the 68 to 74 novas ok thanks for the info
Ok I get it now I got confused
@@LC-fl3zm Its all good brother! We've got several different vehicles on thee channel so it gets confusing sometimes. I separate them each into their own playlists, But since we work on them alternately, sometimes the videos kinda flow together.
Where is a good place to put my turbo drain bungs in oil pan run into my frame g body
All I can tell you is set the engine on the mounts and find the best spot. Every vehicle will be different depending on how you build your hot side, what accessories and brackets you use, etc.
Thanks for this video very helpful! I see you are using the electric ratchet I love mine as well!

I would've taken the thickness of the pan gasket into account before modifying the oil baffle.
Why not just drill a hole for the dip stick?
Because the dipstick is still too long and wouldn’t register the correct level. Read the pinned comment for instructions.
So this do this pan work for gbody cars and 80s model caprice

The description to this pan actually says it fits a 4.00 stroke. I don’t know if the updated it sense u made this video.

Do you have to clearance problem with Holley pan like on this one?
If you’re referring to the windage tray yes, the Holley pans require the same modification. I actually stated in the video that the Holley pan comes with instructions on how to do it, I showed you how to do it without the instructions since these don’t come with any. 👍

Most likely yes. Click on the link in the video description and you should be able to find a list of applications for each of the pans they make to be sure.

Click thr links, look at the pictures, and read the descriptions. They're two very different pans.
Probably a stupid question but Is the oil cooler not needed when doing a swap?
As with anything else, it depends on your application. I’ve never used one. But if you’re going to be using the vehicle for heavy towing or a road race vehicle that will be sustaining high rpm for long periods of time then an oil cooler would probably help.
Thank you for your help

Question Robert. Is there not a bolt that goes in the second hole up from the front of the filter. Will say a very nice looking pan. And a very informative video great job alot of people should find this very helpful.
There’s a hole in the pan there, but not in the block. This was a thing throughout the years. Some LS style blocks have this hole, some do not. This pan and gasket have the hole so it accommodates both types. 👍

Thanks for watching and for the kind words! I’m assuming you’re referring to the 81074 pan? It’s also the only pan they make that allows clearance for a stroker engine. I’m already planning to use that pan on the stroker build that will eventually go into Chaos Theory.

@@BadLuckGarage What point in the video did you trim the oil pan baffle? Not the windage tray. But the oil pan baffle.
You don’t trim the baffle, you trim the windage tray. Again, if you had to trim the baffle then you either didn’t trim enough off the windage tray to allow the pickup tube to sit all the way down or the pickup tube was bent wrong and you should have sent it back.
Same one I bought for my monte
Got mine on ebay works great on my 6.0 just got to cut windage tray to fit
Thanks for watching! Glad this video helped you out!
Has any body used this on a first gen s10 swap?
Used a truck pan on s10 85 model
Great video!
It looks like this would work when putting in a LS in my 1966 Chevelle. Was thinking about going old school 350 due to costs. But with this pan that would save $100 bucks from the start.
Thanks
Glad to hear it brother. 👍
This won't work on a Chevelle, it doesn't have as much clearance as the Holley 302-3 and makes contact with the steering linkage.
Thanks all
Eric
Yes please do report back!👍🏻 Just because they say it fits on the website doesn’t always mean it will.
Will this thing fit the 69 Nova ya think? Looks like it’s a tad bigger than the Holley?....
Glad I found this video its very informative
Glad you found it helpful brother. 👍🏻
I believe speed engineering just came out with similar pans as well.
Great video Brother looks like a nice pan. And not s bad price
For what you get it’s a terrific price! This line of pans will most likely be my goto in the future for all my builds!👍🏻
Loved it awesome job thanks for the imfo👍
Yes sir and good luck with whatever you’re working on.
Awesome! And learnt a new word! Seatment!
Yea I made that one up on the fly. There’s plenty more where that came from too. 🤣
Rockauto has these f-body oil pans for alot less.
First of all, if you watched the video you would know this isn’t an fbody pan. Second, the rock auto pans don’t come with all the hardware and gaskets that these come with.
@@BadLuckGarage I liked your video, I just saw the info and was trying to pass it on to you, maybe for a future video. Sorry.
Looking back I realize how vague my comment was, I can see how it sounded negative. It's all good bud, keep up the good work!
Will do brother!
Thank you, saved me alot of time.
Thats a small opening on the pickup
Standard size. 🤷🏼♂️ The overall area of the opening in the pickup is still larger than the overall area of the pickup tube itself. So the pickup tube is more of a restriction than the pickup tube opening.
Very nice video man
Thank you sir. Hopefully it was information you can use!👍🏻
It sure was
Can u please give me the pan prt number thanks
All that info is in the video description as explained in the video. 👍
@@BadLuckGarage thanks i am in canada and we depend on guys like u for info the hi performance industry here is not like the us happy thanks giving
@@jamesmarchione920 Thank you! I do my best to make it as easy as possible for people to find the parts I use and follow along with the builds I do. 👍
Anybody use this in a 240sx s14 ?
Brother I’m not 100% sure but I believe the 240 swap requires a front sump oil pan.
Why not use a ls1 pan?
Fitment and price.
@@BadLuckGarage but you can get a ls1 pan, pickup tube and stick, everything for like 220 bucks. How much is that pan? I haven't looked
Everything is covered in the video.
@@BadLuckGarage good talk smh hHa
Brother I’ve been at the dragstrip all day. I’m not trying to be sarcastic, but between the comment section, email, and messenger I receive between 30-100+ questions a day. That’s why I take the time to put so many details in the videos and place product links in the descriptions. So everything you need to know is available to you at the click of a mouse curser. So when I say “the answers are in the video”, I’m not trying to be a dick, I’m simply stating a fact. I spend hours filming and editing these videos so that you and others will have the information you need without it being necessary for me to type it all out 30 to 100 times in the comment section. 😉
It's cheaper to buy Fbody oil pan and accessories on rockauto?
Thanks for watching. The Fbody pan doesn’t fit every application and doesn’t come with all gaskets and accessories. By the time you buy all the additional items the cost is very similar. These pans come with all new gaskets, bolts, and accessories and are available in three different models to fit any application. They are also available in raw aluminum, black, or polished if you’re worried about looks. 👍
Good video!👍🏾👏🏾
Thanks brother, I appreciate the compliment!
That looks like a great paN for the price!
I’m telling you brother. These are gonna be my goto from now on!
@@BadLuckGarage st that price and quality for sure!
Is this pan kit you're showing lower profile than the GM Performance pan kit? Also this kit is for sale too www.competitionproducts.com/TSP-Aluminum-LS-Series-Oil-Pan-Kit-for-Engine-Swap-Applications/productinfo/TSP81074/#.Xj4AtGhKjIU. Just looking for the lowest profile I can get, just in case I run into clearance issues. Thanks.
That’s the 81074 Pan. They make 3 different ones. I have links to all three in the video description. That pan is very similiar to the original Holley 302-1 pan I believe.
@@BadLuckGarage Would you buy it for that sale price? Looks like a good deal. 5.7 inches deep, seems about the same as a sbc pan.
LOL The 81074 that's on sale doesn't fit G-bodies and thats what I need. The 0873-0875 do.
When you’re looking at sales, be sure shipping is free. If it’s not then you may be better off buying through the ebay links.
@@BadLuckGarage $99 dollars and free shipping. Sadly the pan on sale doesn't fit G-bodies, but I was thinking that with a 1 inch setback motor mount kit it might work. Not a stock firewall car so set back would never be an issue. I'm just a cheap SOB, so when I see stuff like that I get excited. lol
98-02 Ebay Ls1 F Body pans are way cheaper and have good clearance for most vehicles also!!
The pan itself is cheap, yes. But the “kit” with all the accessories is well over $350 which makes this package over $100 cheaper and fits more applications than the fbody pan.
