This is hands down going to be the coolest snowcat on YT. Maybe Matt will start hosting a winter tow truck olympics, I mean games, so you can dominate with that beautiful beast
That thing is too cool! Imagine if you had this back in the day when you recovered that S10 that was stuck in the snow for three years. On a side note: You should try to hook up with Holley and put EFI on that thing. They seem to help out a lot of UA-cam channels so you never know, can’t hurt to try.
rebuild the carb and swap points for aftermarket ignition module(something like pertronix), carry a spare sealed in bag inside ammo box. if you're really worried, carry points, condenser, cap, rotor, wires and plugs also. that's what we did for trail/right of way riding in West Virginia(mostly all vw powered rail buggies). sold and changed points, electronic kit, cap/rotor, wire and plug spares to someone on the trails a handful of times. never had any go bad on our own, but people there always needed something and we always helped to keep the fun going, when possible. 😁
Your calculations carried forward with the 6240 LB curb weight is about 1 PSI empty and with a 1,600 LB payload makes your ground pressure total 1.26PSI. Pretty impressive.
That is one kewl machine. Great to see Mara out and about and trying her best without hurting herself more to help you. I think she will understand that you NEED the parts to get it off the trailer safely.
All respect all she does is run her mouth to the old man people don't even watch know because of her.he built everything from a,old toe truck and his skills.
I could tell it was a Chrysler engine by the sound of the starter. Can’t wait to see it in action this winter. Matt’s Off Road Recovery eat you heart out 😮😂
Well, you have to replace the carb and fix the clutch to get it off the trailer because you want to have the trailer available if you need it. She should agree with that.
Eric ,that snow cat is super cool and your going to have a lot of fun with that!! The type of recoveries that you will be capable of doing now will be awesome and really fun to watch. Once you get that 318 industrial tuned up it will be a very reliable old friend! Thanks for the fun video.
Those old Tuckers are something eles. I've been to their factory and the shop where they refurbish and restore old Sno-Cats. There is a big club in Idaho that has a get together. They run from Sun-Valley over to McCall.
Find an old UPS truck, or potatochip truck with a 6BT Cummins and Allison automatic. Use the 318 for a boat anchor, or at the bottom of a hole for fill. The Tucker is an A#1 addition to the team !! Good to see Mara in the videos, and happy you have steady help with camera duties!! Thank you ALL for sharing the adventures !!
I am so excited for your business to have this piece of equipment! This makes most of the other channel's track vehicles look like kid's toys! Now I can't wait for winter to see this machine in action.
Eric i am looking forward to seeing build videos on Seat Covers Truck and the new Snow Cat wrecker. At this rate you may need to add people to the team with the fleet of recovery vehicles you have now
Ha. My father repurposed old snowmobile tracks onto the deck of his trailer in the early 70’s for the very same reason. Made a big difference especially when there was ice.
Looks as if they made them really easy to work on! Lol you should see if you can find some old 3 or 4 ply conveyor belt would work well for the tracks!
Hey Eric you get that thing colored up in bsf recovery garb and you will have the coolest snow cat on UA-cam brother 😎 that thing will be bad to take bone awesome
Eric, cool rig, I just want to give you food for thought, since you're not in a rush the Carter 2 bbl carb is super simple to work on. I have no doubt that you could rebuild it, good luck!
I think you win the snow crawler prize for this gem. Should be a good addition to the fleet once it's operational. I'll bet that cat has seen some stuff in its time.
You're the best. Looks like you're going to set yourself up for All seasons which is wonderful to watch . You should take care of that wife first wives always come first the matter what God bless take care.
I definitely see a need for this! My Ex's eldest lives 100-ish south of you in Osseo, I94 & US10. ( NORSKE NOOK! ) I lived there 90-91, escaping west to Denver after 3 weeks of below zero for the high. Now playing around Las Vegas.
You will like this one when winter arrives. Bud Nixon from Oergon uses on for fun. From what knew of the old ones used for trail groomers, neglect was their biggest problem. They let them sit for 8 months of the year and then hopped in and expected them to go, of course most everything was volunteer in those days. Maybe the oil was changed. I doubt if they were greased regularly. That aside they still did the job which meant they ran for almost 24 hours each time because they are not fast. They sort of remind me of the Model T with tracks.
You actually still see quite a few of those sitting around over here in the upper peninsula. I know our local towing service has a 4 door tucker they use for recoveries in the winter.
Your idea of snowmobile tracks works great, I have seen it used often here in Northern Alberta where they use all sorts of track units for swamp and ice areas. I think this will be a.highly used unit in the winter once you get it going and set up. ❤❤❤❤
It seems like you have a great base to start with. The 318 is a good basic reliable motor. Master cylinders, possible slaves are going to be simple. The track belt’s just seem to be the most effort and biggest hit to wallet. That is what it looks like from 2500 miles away!
@@chaddesantis4191 if it runs without rod/lifter knock and burns little oil. just rebuild the carb and slap in aftermarket electronic ignition conversion(pertronix or similar). keep it simple :)
@@throttlebottle5906 just calling the shot before it happens. When a hard core Chevy man buys a poorly running machine that's powered by something other than GM, and he's got his own junkyard full of GM, I'd say the likelihood of the tucker getting a GM powerplant is pretty high.
Thanks for the walk around. Shows why it doesn't like going over logs. The tracks are welded right to the axles, so you have to twist the leaf-springs to angle the track up and over a log. Fixing that will be a bit of a head-scratcher to figure out the right link and strut config. (if it's even worth fixing?)
Always hit the like button in the beginning, enjoy the ride alongs on your adventures, just have the mosiqtoes and a couple dragonflys take it back to the shop, great video
That old snow cat is going to be just the ticket for some of those winter woods recoveries!!! Don't worry Eric, I won't say a word to "Seat cover"! LOL!! I'm looking forward to her truck build AND now, the snow cat project!!!
That other truck won't really expand any of your capabilities, it's just going to give you more of the same, but if you spend this summer fixing and modifying the snow-cat, then this fall there won't be anywhere you can't go,😉👍, thanks for sharing.
This is hands down going to be the coolest snowcat on YT. Maybe Matt will start hosting a winter tow truck olympics, I mean games, so you can dominate with that beautiful beast
I couldn’t agree more!
I like to use a propane torch with the tip removed, and a long rubber hose to keep engines running while trying to start them
Oh boy. With both you and Matt working on tracked recovery vehicles, I smell a collab coming up this winter! 😊
Winter off road wrecker games
@johnmoore1025 my thoughts exactly in desser
@jeremyhanna3852 just waiting on fab rat's to get a snow cat
Don’t forget, Robby had one to
@@brianwaldroff4125 I was thinking the same, "Kitty ", just need Paul and Rory to get one now.
That Tucker is the coolest snow cat of any of the channels. Old school cool!!
What I think is cool is it's gonna be a true working machine not some content creating machine!
@MrDan1509 Umm, you do realize this is a LUBETUBE channel & without CONTENT it is NOTHING. Everything they do is content. 🤡

I'm surprised that mid 60's 1 ton GMC dump truck didn't jump on the trailer for the ride home!
Looks handier than a shirt pocket!
The snowmobile tracks on the trailer is a Great idea.Muddy tires could grip too.
As for a name,as mentioned below; "TRACTION". Tracks, and action.
That thing is sweet! Gonna be fun to see it in action.
its a 318, it'll run forever. I bet a master cyl rebuild kit would fix it right up.
That will make a good snowplow for the place as well

Cool bit of kit Eric
This going to be an awesome build! I’m glad you found this and are going to use it again as a wrecker. Do you have a name picked out?
Not yet, ideas welcome

"creeper"
Edit: referring to the name for the tucker
