Mother nature keeps using up our spare time and teaching us lessons. Never would have thought the lift would have frozen! Looks like a good start on this project and here's hoping the engine and pumps are useable! No matter what else you have to do, remember ball playing with dog is most important!
Matt, the absolutely deadpan line "okay I've converted this over to metric" just killed me. Very funny, thanks for the great video! Looking forward to the series
I tremendously enjoyed your D4rebuild which primarily had subtitles. At 78 yrs. of age, my hearing is pretty well shot. Just watched Starting the excavator rebuild and understood very little of your comments - which are also enjoyable for style. I'm guessing subtitles take mega manual time. Hope the excavator holds many pleasant surprises for you. - JUST FOUND THEM. UA-cam OR MY LAPTOP WERE LYING TO ME - REWATCHING!!!
Well love big projects but here something to things about as you take your hydraulic lines off use zip tie of different colors. That will help you put the new lines off. When it come time to take your lift cylinders off your boom put a 4X4 X 8 across your tracks .as for the wiring one line at a time same gauge of wire . Have fun
Enjoyed your dozer rebuild and want to see you bring this back to life. You need to find a deal on a 35 gallon drum of degreaser. Clean as you fix where possible.
As your repair on them comlums ,they are stronger then you think.. 500 without a problem. I would be very careful trying to roll with weight on.. glad to see you started on this..
Great start. This is going to be a very interesting project. And, like with the dozer, once you're done with it, it will be a very reliable, good looking piece of equipment. Two thoughts: While you have the radiator out, it may be helpful to power flush the block and heater core. Clean out any of the crap that's in there. Your dog looks like he's a good partner, and wants to play. You're a lucky man.
Sometimes a person unfortunately becomes their own worst enemy, ( vertical columns on the gantry). Looking forward to this rebuild, I have spent many hours on hydraulic systems, and field line boring, and many cylinder rebuilds on excavators. You always come up with some pretty innovative ideas, and I really like that, thanks for the update young man. I like your puppy dog too.
*- With longer gusseting at the top and perhaps added angle iron like the splitting-fix, I suspect his present gantry could safely pick more than expected...what would be your experienced perspective my guesstimate?* *- I would also like to see a fail/destruction test by swinging weights if Matt does do a gantry rebuild. That would be good entertainment and educational in my view.*
Early in the dozer build, the dog was just not too keen on the master talking to thin air. The pup really has become used to the camera now. It was very funny to watch the dog with that "who the hell are you talking to" look. Made me laugh and comment on it.
Since you showed us a close up of your ear… please wear ear protection. Hearing aids aren’t cheap, I know from experience. Excited to follow along on this new project!
I don't know if you have thought of this so I suggest it !! I get a package of multi colored zip ties and color code lines when I get ready to remove them when the fittings are the same size !! And I do the same with new lines to so I get them in all the right places 😊😊😊😊😊
I wouldn't worry about your gantry legs, you have them fixed good, they're going nowhere. The machine is looking better already with just a wash.Looking good Matt. Keep smilin.
Matt, I am sure after the great job you did on your Catapiller machine, you will do the same quality job on your Hitachi machine . Looking forward to watching You resurrect the Hitachi!
Really great to see you start this project. Looking forward to following along. Please stay safe! BTW, Charlie was trying to get you to throw the ball. lol. John
Farmers fix everything! The way you film/edited this video works fine for me - it's still interesting to watch as you work and get things done... I watched you refurbish the dozer and all those videos were great too.
I really enjoyed the Cat rebuild. I watched every episode. I plan to do the same on the rebuild of this Track Hoe. The rebuild of the Track Hoe will be a great one-of-a-kind video for anyone needing documentation of working on one of these. At my age it is highly unlikely that I will be working on one, but your work will be passed on for many years to come. Thanks as always for bringing us along.
My biggest compliment for eliminating the unnerving fast forwards, and unnecessary music in your vids. Just that is a deal breaker. I am subscribed. Can't wait for the next.
$20K project I’m guessing as parts are very highly marked up! I’m all in to watch the resurrection. If it’s anything like the success of the dozer it’s worth it.
After getting the D4 under your belt it would stand to reason that you would feel more confident about your abilities to work on the excavator...you did so well on that dozer :)
the best advice I could give is to remove anything in your way. You will spend less time, and keep your sanity. even though you think it will take longer. Also take off all of the sheet metal and straighten/replace as needed don't fight things (equipment doesn't have feelings but you do, your mental health will thank you, but your wallet and clock might not) love the channel extremely jealous.
Excited to see this machine again. The hydraulic system is no doubt going to be the main cost in repairs, I'd hate to be the guy sourcing parts for this thing but I do enjoy watching the work get done.
LMAO-"I've converted this over to metric." So glad (for me) that you started a new project. Your tenacity to complete the dozer project was really inspiring. Looking forward to watching you decipher the Hitachi technical drawings. You really do good work. Stay safe.
I can see this being another Great movie. Loved your first movie , the ending was unbelievable, I believe this too will end the same way, looking forward on watching and learning all the way until the end, Thank you regards Andy Perth Australia.
Another worthy project for your talents! I was waiting for you to play ball with Charley! I am so glad that you make sure Charley isn't laying around where you threw the cooler and radiator, you were looking weren't you? You don't want to hurt your best friend! As you can tell I like dogs like Charley, I sure miss mine, she has been gone for two years now and I miss her every day.
Shut the front door!!! Let's roll on this project!
Your metric adjusting is incredible...
Great adaptation for the lifting eye.
Mother nature keeps using up our spare time and teaching us lessons. Never would have thought the lift would have frozen! Looks like a good start on this project and here's hoping the engine and pumps are useable! No matter what else you have to do, remember ball playing with dog is most important!

This chap is fearless.....
You don't have a plan, but you have a goal. That is such a great approach to the unknown.
Love your "my shop is dirty" while being the cleanest one I've ever seen!!!
Best thing I saw on the internet today: A Hillbilly drilling a hole into a radiator.
Hooray for a new build starting.

Try using headphones or ear buds. They might help a bit.
It should have auto subtitles, I always try to enable that. If it isn't generating them let me know
I love that new project smell.
Thanks for sharing Matt, good luck my friend! Kirk from Louisiana, sending prayers and good vibes brother! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

A bet the Washington county folks love you, but hey farm life, right. To much fun on this project. Can’t wait for this build
Really glad you’re getting started on this one!!!!
Well project clean and clean for a better start out hahaha
With your experience on the cat dozer, you will be right at home working on this machine.
Looking forward to the videos.
So sad to see the end of the dozer job. But, so happy to see this one start up.
Nice rain canopy would be a good addition!
yeah I can attach a tarp to the frame on top of the gantry

Ok, Mat let's rock -n- roll. It's show time 😊 ! New projects cool 👀🤔😊 !

the one good thing about greaseballs and leaky machines is they wont rust
I think you did a great job on the cat. This will turn out the same. We’ll be watching
Since you showed us a close up of your ear… please wear ear protection. Hearing aids aren’t cheap, I know from experience.
Excited to follow along on this new project!
Exciting (new) project. Looking forward to this excavator restoration!
Good editing, and I liked the video length, thanks.
If it's half as good as the last project it will still be mega ..... love watching you fettle things.
Looking forward to this series.
What a pleasant surprise to find you working already on the excavator after finishing the bulldozer.
Nice introduction to the excavator
Love watching your videos

Your fearless foray feels fine..! Another Era and now electric fun... good luck.....
Great to see you start snother project.

I'm looking forward to this adventure! greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
Excited to follow you through this new project.
Excellent job finding a machine that'll require a lot of video content! LoL
Congratulations on your channel growth,!
Great to start this new project. Can wait to see this working!
I thought I had lost one of my favourite channels - our future is secure !!!!🎉
As much as enjoyed the dozer, I'm looking forward to this one even more. Great work as always.
Farmers fix everything! The way you film/edited this video works fine for me - it's still interesting to watch as you work and get things done... I watched you refurbish the dozer and all those videos were great too.
I sure am enjoying your endeavors. Please stay safe.👍✌️🙏👌

Hydraulic jack might be your friend. To bend everything straight. You have now started and the fun and games begin 👍
You are smart and determined, it is going to go well, very well indeed.
I remember watching bringing it home and washing it off. Glad to see work starting again!
I see a lot of leaking hydraulic fluid in your future. Putting a tarp down to minimize ground water contamination might be a good idea.
After getting the D4 under your belt it would stand to reason that you would feel more confident about your abilities to work on the excavator...you did so well on that dozer :)
Your doing a great job bud !!!! You do it the way you want that makes more sense to you.
Great to see the update. You have quite a project there. Looking forward to the next one and thanks for not adding any crappy music.
Hope you have deep pockets !!! Not much after market parts …! Track gear only .
They are a good machine and reasonably easy to work on 👍

You certainly have the skills to see this through. Those electrical gremlens would have scared me! Nice work so far! 👍
Loved your last project 😊.
Looking forward to your new adventure.
😅
Glad to see you on another venture
Wieder genau so ein super Projekt wie das letzte.
Ich freu mich jetzt schob auf alle Videos. Weiter so .💪💪💪💪👍👍👍👍
I hope you move through this more quickly than the dozer, I really enjoy your work
Your a brave man taking on the jobs you do great video.
Good job! My husband likes your work!!!
Wow, I remember watching this video when you bought the machine. Looking forward to watching this come together
The rule is: A little bit of destruction makes a lot of room for construction. You're well on your way. :)
+ I like your 'metric' conversion methods.
Yeah! Excavator project starting!
Looking forward to seeing this build!! Stay safe!!
I’m glad you started another project. I really enjoyed the bulldozer series
good on you it looks to be a big job Trev South Australia
Here we go again! This should be fun. I'm hooked.
Looking forward to this one, really enjoyed the 'dozer build. Excellent work.
"Find more stuff ".....well said.
Take care
Excited to see this machine again. The hydraulic system is no doubt going to be the main cost in repairs, I'd hate to be the guy sourcing parts for this thing but I do enjoy watching the work get done.

great start! Will be fun to watch as you make progress!
Just a down to earth real person working and sharing his projects .
As always outstanding work and presentation! ❤❤❤
Lovit ! Thanks
Glad to see you back Matt! Gonna be a great project. Think ya dog needs to lift her work ethic. 🇦🇺🍺🍺
I can see this being another Great movie. Loved your first movie , the ending was unbelievable, I believe this too will end the same way, looking forward on watching and learning all the way until the end, Thank you regards Andy Perth Australia.

I'm really looking forward to this project. Thanks for taking us along.
I've been waiting for this project. I really enjoyed the D4 videos. Can't wait for this beauty to finally dig some ground
Looks good for the start. Looking forward to seeing you get this thing diggin.
Estou ansioso para ver o dia da limpeza desse motor. Acho que precisar de muito sabão e agua fervendo😂
thnx brother.. other sweet video.. you actually could do them longer.. its great to watch them... thnx again .... PS: greetings from Estonia ..
It sounded like a basket case by now you got it started I'm looking forward to a rebuild.
Yes!! Excited about this project!! 🎉😎👍🏻
Cant wait for more excavator content the next thing u need is a big old backhoe or forestry tractor or something maybe a small skidsteer
you're an experienced heavy equipment mechanic now - the confidence shows.
Dog dropping ball at your feet, my fur friend does the same thing. Love it ,great video !
Fantastic Matt, off to a good start. Weirdly I'm enthused about the next project. I'll stick around. Totally enjoyed the dozer.
Thanks.
Succes with fixing this machine, can't wait for the next video.
And so it begins, will be watching. Good Luck!
I enjoy watching your troubleshooting skills and rolling up your sleeves work ethic and getting it done. Inspiring!
You are fearless tearing into those projects. Awsome can't wait to see the progress to get it going!
I'm far from an expert, but somehow this seems less intimidating than the D4.
YAY! Something to look forward to watching later tonight 🙃
Good job love they are a lot of grease ain't they good luck I like to can't wait to see more good luck to you and I'll be waiting
