    Hey guys. I'm so glad you were well informed about how to refeed safely. My father's uncle was a WWII POW and was literally skin and bones when he escaped. His sister and brother-in-law (my grandparents) nursed him back to health under the guidance of a doctor who told them to start with bone broth only at first. Others who escaped with him ate whatever they wanted and died. This is not to scare anyone but to educate. Again, so impressed with your strength and for being informed on how to be safe.
    PS Try scrambling the egg in a small bowl before dropping into boiling broth or soup. Egg drop soup was one of my mom's favorite soups. Happy Presidents Day everyone!!!🕊❤🌺🦋

      don't forget the glucose meter, I seen people pass out on long fasts, maybe because they were not checking their sugar levels and were too active when they should be sedentary

    • @Kamaria0045
      @Kamaria0045 Рік тому +3

      @@DAViDD767 While I agree with you regarding using a glucometer when you fast, so that you know if it is imperative to break the fast, your body runs just fine on ketones. Gluconeogenesis should provide you with all the glucose your body needs to kick start your brain in the morning and, since that's the only organ that actually requires glucose, there is no need for extraneous glucose. What was the body fat percentage of the people who passed out on an extended fast? If they were already seriously underweight, type 1 diabetics, or had an underlying condition I can see this happening. Otherwise not. The human body is actually built for extended periods of fasting and short periods of feasting.
      Yes, you can work out on an extended fast. Being sedentary negates the benefits of fasting. Many, many people do it with brilliant results. Although my longest fast only lasted five days, I do regularly fast for 48 hours at a time to trigger autophagy. At least once a week. After the five day fast I noticed marked differences in my skin, particularly on my face. Little age spots had lightened to the point where they were barely visible. My skin appeared smoother, younger and less dry. I did find I had to increase my water and salt intake, so that may have a lot to do with it. I never ran out of energy though. Seems I have a lot to burn! Haha

      When I make chicken soup I beat up 2 eggs and use a nonstick pan, pour the eggs in the pan and leave them alone. I cook them until they are firm and turn them over, cook just like the other side. Take them out of the pan in one piece to a flat surface. Use a pizza cutter to cut in strips about the size of egg noodles and put in the soup. That makes noodles for the soup.

    Took my dad in for some minor surgery today… And decided to make your chicken soup dish for his dinner as a recuperative meal… a thank you for simplistic recipes…
    I also wanted to let you know that I do your chuck roast, at least twice a month…
    This time when I did it, I didn’t feel like having the meat (my husband and my father are the biggest fans of your truck roast ) but, the chuck roast Anjou looked delicious… Similar to your husband putting an egg in beef broth, I took the Anjou from the chuck roast and put four eggs in it and made egg drop chuck roast soup for my dinner..It was fantastic…

      He had a baseball size Lipoma removed from his upper back/shoulder… he (@ 84 yrs young) did very well and absolutely loved your/my chicken soup…
      He has quite a health story with this Keto-vore way of eating….
      @ 82 yrs., he had a few health issues (as most 82 yrs old people do). I had started Keto 6 months prior (2021) and it was working very well for me, so I put him on a keto 01/01/2022), then this year a more Keto-vore way of eating… over past 2 yrs, he has lost 60 lbs., and has taken his HBA1C from 6.9 to 5.5… Doc. has cut his BP meds in half and I insisted his Doc take him off Statins (I’m always studying and researching keto/Keto-vore, Carnivore, Statins, T2Diabetes, I work very hard to be a strong advocate for him) … which she did begrudgingly.
      He used to have a CPAP machine .. was able to get rid of that…COPD seems to have lessened.
      He now takes a small amt. of BP med and some Vitamins (D3 & K2 and a Multi)… he amazes me everyday, I am so blessed to have him as a father… we just moved him into our home so I can keep a close eye on him… thanks for asking, and your genuine kindness.. your authenticity does not go unappreciated…. 😉

    Looks AMAZING and has me wanting to make my egg drop soup. I basically do the same as you but braise on the stove, not the oven. After I take the chicken out and shred it (keeping the pan still on the stove and the burner on), I whip some eggs, get a Whirlpool going in the broth, and then slowly drizzle the whipped egg in. Then I put the chicken back in. Yummy! Now I want to make it. Thanks for bringing this soup back to the forefront of my mind.
    Congratulations to both of you!

    We love egg drop soup, always did. Back in the day, when I was raising my son on my own, I'd make him a bowl of broth soup with 3-4 eggs in it for his lunch (we didn't do bone broth all those years ago). My son loved it, and used to ask for it which was nice, because I was a\on a budget. It filled him up!

    How you make egg drop soup is how I make my coffee :). I add 2 or 3 eggs to 24 oz of hot coffee. (I use cold brew coffee from the fridge that I made in an oxo cold brew brewer) , heat it close to boiling in the microwave, add eggs and butter. It heats the eggs to > 160F, but they stay liquid enough to blend and the mouthfeel / look is like cream in coffee, but no carbs.
    Two of those coffees and 1 lb of ground chuck (or 1 lb ribeye) is about 160g fat and 160g of protein, which is my daily macro goal.
    That coffee is also how I break a fast (only black coffee while fasting.. Add eggs and butter on the break fast day). I know, it's a lot of coffee. Been doing the coffee for 45 years.. Probably not ever going to stop :)

  • @geniehead2092

    Cassie, I'm curious if you save your chicken bones to make bone broth. If you don't have enough from one batch just freeze them, and keep adding to them until you have a sufficient amount. And as for those pieces of cartilage that you say you're afraid will hurt your teeth, just add them to your bag of bones, and use them in your homemade bone broth. They're pure collagen. And they'll soften up somewhat when cooking your bone broth, so you can eat them after cooking the bone broth. Cooking the cartilage also helps the bone broth to thicken up like jello after it cools in the fridge.

    • @CarnivoreQuest
      @CarnivoreQuest  Рік тому

      Thanks Genie, I've not made bone broth. Larry does. But I have thought i should attempt even if i botch it. Lol. I'll start saving them and give it a shot👍

    • @geniehead2092
      @geniehead2092 Рік тому

      @@CarnivoreQuest There's not too much you could do to botch it. Either simmer it low and slow on the stovetop for a few hours, and just keep adding a little water to it as it cooks down, or just crockpot it overnight, or even longer. Some people put a few carrots or onions or celery in it just for flavor, then strain them out with the bones after cooking. But that's not really necessary. Just water and a little apple cider vinegar is really all you need, and a little salt if you want. The vinegar helps draw the nutrients out of the bones and into the broth. Once you've successfully made homemade bone broth, you'll wonder why you've been paying so much for the watered down stuff you can buy at the supermarket or on the internet. Try it. I think you'll be glad you did. And then you can do a video to share how you did it. Good luck.
