Sad he was supposed to blow. I think he fell in a dark place and that kept him from moving forward. Same thing happened with the rapper Blu from the west coast. He had what it took to blow as well but he fell in a dark place as well.
Black Gang culture started neither in East Coast or West Coast. Gang just means a group of people. Now this issue is this no matter what type of society you are always going to have a group of people that have a way of life that is geared towards that environment. So in the case of East Coast and West Coast. The FBI and CIA knew the only way to keep Black People divided is by importing guns and drugs because Black People are already at the bottom of Western Society so if they are not given the right guidance they will fall victim to what is now perceived as Gang culture. Truss it runs deep.
First time I heard of gangs was when I had a friend from Chicago in middle school, he was telling me about the vice lords but I have no idea who was the first to start gangs whether New York or Chicago.
In both U S of America and Jamaica, two most influential Black Western countries, the Gang influence amongst "us" comes from slavery days. The influence of violent Scotch Irish the English sent as a indentured slaves. But also as a "buffer" between them and the Indians

Youre on the wrong channel. This is Hip Hop based and there speaking of the origins of the culture. The Harlem renaissance was a pivotal moment in black culture . . .as well as the formations of organized gangs, for better or for worse.
Being from the midwest, all we knew was Blood, Cuz, Folks and Lords, we heard about NY or East Coast in general as for getting money...we heard of Supreme Team, JBM..but we also heard about the Decepticons..in the middle we see and hear everything...
growing up in the 80's and 90's, every Boro had it's own flavor.. You could tell just by the fit.. Especially in Brooklyn.. Brooklyn broke it down even further.. certain sections dress code was different, so you could tell where the person was from.. An outsider could be spotted a mile away.. NYC didn't have the color thing heavy until like the late 90's..The culture migrated from LA and Chicago..
The Notorious B.I.G made that quote famous worldwide "Is Brooklyn in the house".... But 99% of the movies made in NY are made in Manhattan/Harlem. Every comic book movie is made in Manhattan/Harlem. Everyone on the planet knows of Manhattan before Brooklyn.
Lol, in our culture (black people)Harlem is more popular because of the Harlem renaissance and when most of our folks left down south they went to Harlem. Other then that Brooklyn is just as known, Fuck a comic book.
Hmm...I went to college in Brooklyn during the late 1970s. Boy has this town changed. At 2 a.m., I have walked with my younger brother from Jay Street to Willoughby Ave. and NO ONE bothered us. However, back then, as a 19 year old woman with her young brother, NO ONE in their right mind would have walked at 2 a.m. through Harlem, Manhattan, the Bronx or Queens. Times have surely changed. 😲
The original Black Gangs started in the South in GA and FL when the Blacks were called Cimarron (Seminoles) and fought back against the US Military. Most people thought they were Indians, but Andrew Jackson said "We were fighting against Negroes".
It started in Africa. Gangs in all cultures been around since beginning. Folks need to read. It's always been gangs in every culture and society. Even in the affluent world.
@@WHG369 I'm speaking of gangs as you know them today. They can be found throughout history all over the world. But black gangs started in Africa. Colors and emblems have also been part of the various types of gangs. The definition of gang related is an organized group of criminals. Humans have always been humans. Gangs have always usually started out of some cause or with intentions to defend their group of people then they morph into the criminal element.

@RFM Recordings Chicago and NY had gang culture back in the 20s and well, NY probably way before that since the east coast was settled long before west coast. But in terms of modern day structure, ALKQN was the first to .
Gotta disagree with that. Not to discredit Chicago cause I do agree to a certain extent , but you can’t give that full credit to Chicago simply based off the fact how big the Influence of LA Crip & Blood shit is around the country & how that shit spread. Almost every major city in the US has a Crip or Blood gang. Not to Say Chicago gangs don’t , but if we compare the 2 C’s & B’s literally have a strong influence everywhere & was glamorized on a higher scale (movies & music) plus the drug trade aswell .
@Mordecai Tha Great never said they were the oldest or before Chicago. I was speaking on the Influence around the country. Yes Hollywood, Music , But also the Drug Trade aswell. And it is well documented about Black Gangs in the 40s before Bloods & Crips , which were the Slausons , Gladiators , Businessmen which were formed to fight the Racist White LA Gang (SpookHunters) at the time.

I agree that with what was said where gangs originated from the cities mentioned (NY,LA & Chi). I did a college paper years ago on the evolution of gangs in NY. Yes the gangs in NY started around the 1920s but they didn't specifically start in Harlem. It's was 5 gangs that started around the same time from immigrants coming to America (specifically NY) for a better way of life/freedom due to them knowing what the statue of liberty symbolized(freedom & liberty). Those 5 gangs (one of them was the dead rabbits mentioned in the video) started in the bowery section of Manhattan which is lower Manhattan for those who don't know. Due to the geographic location of Manhattan at the time and there being 5 gang existing at the time that area was nicknamed the 5 POINTS. The 5 POINTS has nothing to do with certain Blood gang or chi-town based gang members who represent the 5 point star.

Very true 💯

In both U S of America and Jamaica, two most influential Black Western countries, the Gang influence amongst "us" comes from slavery days. The influence of violent Scotch Irish the English sent as a indentured slaves. But also as a "buffer" between them and the Indians

Gang is a generic term. What are you defining as a gang. A criminal element?
@@WHG369 I'm speaking of gangs as you know them today. They can be found throughout history all over the world. But black gangs started in Africa. Colors and emblems have also been part of the various types of gangs. The definition of gang related is an organized group of criminals. Humans have always been humans. Gangs have always usually started out of some cause or with intentions to defend their group of people then they morph into the criminal element.
My name is Trenton Jenkins. Actually the first gang in the U.S was the Gullah Geechee culture the most feard group of Blacks in America history Abraham Lincoln and the slave masters could testify to that....
