Love the view of birds. We have cardinals, crows, blue jays and others not sure what they are and a bunch of squirrels that eat the food and chase the birds away. Love watching our birdfeeder.
the pics of the birds are so adorable...i too love watching the birds...i have a humming bird feeder hanging outside of my kitchen window over the sink and as i stand there doing dishes i love watching them..they even come up to the window as to say "Hi"...
That was a cool idea you had on how to make the signs using fabric and fabric paints. Your Mom and Dad are very good photographers! Loved the pictures of the birds and your video with the birds and squirrel. He's a cute little guy. Thanks for sharing.
Oh what a beautiful backyard view ! Your parents are quite the photographers! Thank you for sharing their photos! Poor Momma squirrel, maybe Harland will build a squirrel feeder :) You nailed the wood look on your art quilt - thank you for sharing it with us! Great video! Happy crafting!
My morning coffee and your video, perfect way to start my day! When I do a wall hanging, I use felt instead of batting, it makes the project just a bit stiffer and hangs nicely. Thanks for the idea, I now have loads of ideas floating around in my brain to put signs everywhere in my sewing (calming room) place.
Linda you have made my day! I like watching other content creators on UA-cam while having my coffee too :) I really like the idea of using the felt instead of batting.......I may have to give this a try!
You are so lucky Lisa...what beautiful interesting birds you have to watch...and squirrels😍 🐿.. I wish we had them in New Zealand. I love birds too and I think they have difficulty lifting of to fly because I feed them so well. Beautiful beautiful photos well done mum and dad . Love the project and I’m going to do it in a few weeks. 😘💐
Wow Mom and Dad did great! We see your Artistic talents runs in your family. I too have many areas in art I do. Trying my best to get into quilting. Idea for squirrel put out food on a platform for him that way he may leave the feeder alone. My Pops puts out the food that his African Grey drops in the bottom in a tray for birds and squirrels.
that's a great idea, our Cockatoo picks and chooses what he wants to eat and throws the other to the bottom.....and it's different every day...today he likes apples....tomorrow he hates them....hahahaa
another great video Lisa.. I love your back yard.. My husband and I too enjoy watching our wild birds and rabbits and of course the squirrels in our back yard... That was some really great picture your mom took.. May God continue to bless and keep you and your family.. (Hugs).
at our last house we had a whole colony of bunnies...some even lived under my little studio. I could hear them all throughout the day. At this house we haven't seen any rabbits yet. Did see some bats last night though, they were fun to watch.
I love bats also.. But I don't think I have seen a bat in many years.. As a matter of fact, I was just telling my husband the other day that we don't have any bats.. Bats are good for our environment and eat those pesky insects.. I hope they aren't becoming extinct.. You will probably see rabbits before too long, just keep looking for them.. God bless you ❤@@TheQuiltmakerHomestead
This gave me some ideas to try. You make it sound so simple. We also have many birds, squirrels and deer to watch from our back porch. Wonderful way to spend our retirement days.
The bird's are awesome. I love watching the bird's and squirrels. I love the pillow and blank that you made. The colors are pretty. Wish I had a printer so I could try it. Love your work. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much Brenda :) You may wanna check out the local library. The one close to us let's you print for like 5 cents a sheet.....maybe something to look into if you every have a dire need to print off something :)
Just FYI, I'm pretty sure Mr Squirrel appears to a Momma squirrel and those mealworms and food are exactly what she needs right now. Perhaps in a few months she will bring her squirrel kiddos down to the feeders too. :) Thank you for sharing.
I will tell them :) We will have to name the squirrels....there are two. Once has a kink in the end of it's tail and then this one. Husband and wife squirrels maybe, we are now thinking the squirrel in the video may be a soon to be mom???? not sure
Lisa, this was a great video and project! You are a Rockstar with Your Free Motion Stitching and painting that quilt with the dry brush technique for the woodgrain was fabulous! Thanks 😊 so much for Sharing ❤️ Love the porch and nature pics, I do the same each morning! Happy Quilting and Creating! XX Marie-Wisconsin
I love watching birds, and i was hoping you say you like the squirrels too. Such a nice and peaceful place to relaxed Lisa. Thanks for letting me see that. I know you have to be so careful to do that . But thats is such a shame because i love it. ! Lol. Love to watching you sew . I haven’t seen that done before sewing out those letters. Now that is cool! This 60 year old woman has a lot to learn. I would like to show you some of the thing i have sewn, but i don’t know 🤷♀️ how to do that. I think you would be proud of me because i learn off you and a lady that likes to work with some wool projects. But i told my husband i love how you show every little thing .... step by step. But Lord i could never do the free motion like you. But at my age i don’t think 🤔 its going to happen. No rules allowed turned out so good, i like it. I think i could do that ( 🤔 THINK) i can.
Anytime you want to share pictures you can send them to my email: lisacapenquilts@gmail.com. I would love to see what you have been creating and I do know I would be super proud of you!! 60 is YOUNG and it's never to late to branch out and learn something new, I am so excited that you are following along with me and trying new things!!
Great project. Love your back yard view with all the birds and squirrel. We have several squirrels that come to our deck to get peanuts. One even comes right up to the door and looks in even though we have 2 cats. I think if he could talk he would say good morning I'm here for my snack.😂
It's so funny...I hadn't seen them before.....then saw them in the shop next to the dentist.......then we left to go to Vermont and they were in every shop we stopped at. Maybe I just never noticed them before now hahahaha.
Fun project. Thanks for sharing your experience with these paints. I’ve been wanting to play with these; just haven’t found the time. Your great vid is inspiring. I’m gonna give it a go. Thanks again, Lisa. It’s always fun to “visit” in your studio!
I like how these paints didn't fade after washing....now repeated washing I'm not sure about yet. Although, truthfully how many times a year do you wash a quilt hahaha....I guess maybe if it's being used all the time it would get washed more often. I'm trying to find the perfect paint for an idea that I have....this may work!
Thank you Lisa, for another inspirational tutorial. May I offer a little tip that works for me when having to box out a quilt. I attach a length of thread to all the corners so that I am able to just tug on them to pull the corners out nice and square with little effort. You don't have to sew them, just thread through a doubled over length of cotton so that it just tugs out once boxed out. Ha! Hoped I explained it clear enough. Hugs from New Zealand
You get such a lovely variety of birds. I think I would spend my time too on your deck watching the birds. I couldn`t help notice your new cutting mat. No extra marks yet to help with fabric cutting! I wonder how long that will last? LOL
You are so observant!! hahahahaa...I did get a new mat....I used my other one sooo much I had cut through it in some places.....there was no more "self healing" abilities left in that mat HAHAHAHAHAA. I'm marking my new one this weekend hehehee.
interactive UA-cam videos.......like a conference call.....that would be AWESOME. I often times think about doing a live video on UA-cam but still working up my nerve for that hahahaa
Painting is my first love heheheee. I was 15 when I got my first paints, easel, brushes after watching Bob Ross on TV Saturday mornings with my parents. It was a life changing Christmas that year with all of those goodies!!
Sure, I'd love to show you :) I cheated a bit with this one......I bought an ironing pad the size of my table from Amazon and just sewed a fabric topper that I have draped over top of it. I'm using magnets on the table legs to hold the topper in place :)
I think I'm partial to your squirrel. When my dad was alive we would sit on a bench under a tree in his backyard. There was a squirrel who would go get nuts and throw them down on us and then run around. You could tell the squirrel thought it was so funny. He would do this time and time again.
aweeeee, I love that story about your Dad :) I bet the squirrel DID think that was funny....or at least entertaining enough to keep doing it hahahahhaa.
Lisa...loved the back porch view and this video.....looks like a great project. I have a question, what size is your work/cutting table and where did you get it? Also, where did you buy your bird feeders?
Thank you so much Ruth! The benches came from Amazon, they are 48" x 24" and adjustable height. Here is a link if you want to check them out: amzn.to/2XSUTIA My parents bought the bird feeders from Wild Birds Unlimited :)
I loved this tutorial so much! The bird pictures are awesome! Great job mom and dad! 👍🏻 I just finished a small embroidery project that I colored with crayons; I had never done that before . That was a lot of fun. Now I am anxious to try your project! Did you use a regular straight stitch to outline the letters?
I've colored on quilts with crayons too......I love the look of it...soft like water colors :) To stitch the letters my machine was on a straight stitch with the stitch width set to 0 and stitch length set to 0 and I lowered the feed dogs.
that was weird, I double checked it when I posted the video and it worked hahaha......I think I fixed it thank you SOOOO much for letting me know so that I could get it working again :)
the squirrel is eating the leaves off of my Mom's little pretty trees on the deck....I imagine that squirrel will get on her nerves first hhahahahaaa :)
Love the view of birds. We have cardinals, crows, blue jays and others not sure what they are and a bunch of squirrels that eat the food and chase the birds away. Love watching our birdfeeder.
Great Project Cousin, very proud of all that you do! your mom is a fantastic photographer!
Yes, my mom is a really good photographer, thanks so much for watching!
the pics of the birds are so adorable...i too love watching the birds...i have a humming bird feeder hanging outside of my kitchen window over the sink and as i stand there doing dishes i love watching them..they even come up to the window as to say "Hi"...
My new kitchen doesn't have the window over the sink like our last house did....I miss that!
I would have a hard time tearing myself away from that view of your back yard! I love watching the birds and the squirrels!!
I sat out there this morning, the hummingbirds were swarming!!! You could hear their little chirps, it was so cute :)
You’re awesome Lisa! I’m so happy for you in your new home. Your studio is fabulous. Thanks for all you do for your viewers. We love you!
It's my pleasure Becky, thanks for joining along!
Such a cute squirrel 🐿😊
I know....look at that belly, I wish I could snuggle it haahahhaa. Thinking now it may be a girl squirrel....maybe a soon to be mom??
That was a cool idea you had on how to make the signs using fabric and fabric paints. Your Mom and Dad are very good photographers! Loved the pictures of the birds and your video with the birds and squirrel. He's a cute little guy. Thanks for sharing.
I'll let them know you liked their photos :) The really enjoy doing photography. Isn't the squirrel so fun to watch??? LOL

Fun project! It would also be a fun draft dodger either for a door or windowsill.
ohhhhh, you are so right!!
Cute cute project! Love your little squirrel. You are going to have to name him. The birds are beautiful. Mom and dad did excellent photography!

This is Awesome Lisa. Cant wait to make some for Christmas with Scripture
That's an awesome idea!!! There are so many possibilities!!
Lisa I love that project you just done. I see those wooden plaques in the stores but never thought about making it out of fabrics. This is so cool.
It's so funny...I hadn't seen them before.....then saw them in the shop next to the dentist.......then we left to go to Vermont and they were in every shop we stopped at. Maybe I just never noticed them before now hahahaha.
