Thank you for making this video tutorial. I have been trying different ways of making my own quilt labels and this is exactly what I've been wanting. You did an excellent job and I very much appreciate your clear and concise instructions. I have spent money on custom made quilt labels and I am disappointed in every one of them. This will be so much better. Thank you again, your hard work is much appreciated. Happy quilting! ❤❤🐝🐝
Fabulous. I do on occasion use my Embroidery setting on one of my sewing machines to put on a label the baby name and date or the newlyweds names and date. I will now add this to my repertoire of labels. Making a sample today! Thank you!
What a wonderful idea! I am going to use this from now on. I am going to try it using my Derwent Intense Pencils and of course I will heat set them. I always Appliqué an animal or insect somewhere on the back of the Quilt if the Quilt has an animal, insect or multiple animals or insects then I will pick the recipient’s favorite one to appliqué on the back of the Quilt.
I love using my Intense pencils!!! I really love your idea of incorporating an element from the front of the quilt, over to the back...that's awesome!! Thanks for sharing :)
Love the idea of using rubber stamps...I have used fabric paints to write mine, I didn''t think to decorate it though and I really like that idea. I too hand stitch my labels on, but up until now I have hand quilted all my quilts as well....hoping to get the knack of machine quilting.
@@TheQuiltmakerHomestead deffinately....lol....when I started over 30 years ago, I was taught to hand stitch...machine quilting was not really being done , if you said quiting everyone assumed it was hand stitched
@@rachelmiller495 No I do not have a frame for quilting. I have used an embroidery hoop as the quilts have been on the smaller side....baby or lap quilts, and some I didn't use anything..... I know I will need to change things up to make a larger quilt so I am going to try to do free motion quilting, I have done some machine quilting on a few other projects, all straight lines....nothing to write home about but I really want to try free motion soon.
Mimzy Riepensell thank you. I’m getting ready to quilt my granddaughter’s quilt. . It’s a memory quilt with most of her t-tshirts when she was little. I usually do straight line too. This one is a little bigger than others I did. But it’s sometimes difficult to go thru the throat of my machine. Do you do small stitches or use embroidery floss spaced out?
Sister Short Hair ! ! What a cute, cute way to make a quilt label! I tend to panic a bit putting a freezer paper fused fabric label thru my printer. It jammed once and what a mess. The customization you can do with so many cute stamps is endless, my mind is racing ! ! Will be using this idea for sure. Hand sewing on your label is such a personal touch to a finished project. Great video ! ((hugs))
I've had a jam in my printer too....it was NOT fun......This was a fun idea to share....I love using stamps on fabric and creating my own designs hahaa :) You are so right...endless possibilities!!
Great video, Lisa. Thank you. I will have to get some of those markers. I know that by the time I’ve hand sewn the binding on my quilt, the thought of then hand sewing all four sides of my label is, well......So, before I hand sew my binding, I focus on my label. I follow your steps until sewing the decorated label to its backing. I only sew two sides together, the top and right side. Then I trim the top and right side at 1/4” and the other two at about 1/2”. Turn it right side out and press. I pin the label to the bottom right corner of the back of the quilt, placing it so that the two raw edges will be caught under the side and bottom binding when I hand sew it. Machine sew the label in place along the raw edges. Now I only have to hand sew two sides of the label, and I know that two sides will be held securely under the binding (especially on any piece I’ve made that will be washed many times, like a baby quilt). Hope this is clear. Thanks! ‘
Your comment makes perfect sense, I sometimes too at this point in the game hate to even think about handsewing anything hahaha......the way you incase your label into the binding is a wonderful way to minimize what needs to be done by hand. Thank you so much for the tips and sharing!!
What a great was to personalize a label using stamps. I make my labels using that method, never thinking to add stamps though but I use old dryer sheets for the back. I am almost finished the Bee Grateful and will do a bee label. I downsized the pattern to 45% to make a wall hanging.
The dryer sheet for the back of the label....GENIUS!! Maybe someone will see that tip and give it a try......I will heheee. I'd love to see your bee quilt when you are done!!
You are utterly awesome. So easy to follow and understand. Thanks for what you do. I am not a quilter but now, after watching your videos, I may try one.😉
Deb Plows, You should definitely go for it! Lisa is the best Teacher EVER! She is AWESOME! I had not done any Appliqué in over 19 years until I started doing Lisa’s 2018 DREAM, HOPE & LOVE Mystery Quilt. With her UA-cam Tutorials on Satin Stitching my Appliqué now looks amazing! I talked my dear friend and neighbor Marilyn to join in also even though she had only been sewing Pillow cases for 10 months & a several Blocks from the Splendid Sampler 2 Sew Along and at first her Appliqué was not the prettiest but NOW SHE ROCKS IT! It is all thanks to Lisa. She is so patient and explains everything very thoroughly and in a language that you can understand even if you have no experience sewing. It you really want to try it you should go for it! Marilyn took the plunge and I returned after a 22 year hiatus and we have never looked back (even though our husbands wish we had never started) LOL!!
@@carriedoty4527 Thank You Carrie for the encouragement! Think this will be my winter project. Have 45 grandkids and great grandkids so my summers are pretty busy..lol But definately going to try!😀
Deb Plows Yahoo!!! Welcome, welcome welcome to the fascinating, fun, awesome & challenging (at times) world of Quilting! I hope 🤞 you fall in love with it & even teach some of your Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren to love it also.
Good idea, I make all my labels and the recipients always love that personal touch. I am going to try the stamps, thus far I have embroidered mine. Thanks and have a great week.
Hi Lovely Lisa love this tutorial, thank you for the free template, you are so generous. I have been busy over the summer with grandchildren so not much time for sewing. Hope you are settling into your beautiful new home. Send you all my love as always xxxxxxx Dorothy 🙋🏻😘❤️🌟
Hey friend!!!! I'm so glad you get to spend some good quality time with the grandchildren, I think that is awesome! We are just about all settled in now and things are getting back to "normal" hahaaa :) love ya!!
Hi Lisa my name is Nettie Jensen I'm from Nebraska I love to watch you an learn from you so many my question is where do you get your ould container of little rubber stamps for making quilt labels
The markers are designed to create on clothing......each brand is different and may have different results through the wash. So far I'm loving these markers used in this video. I've used them on another project....it's only been washed once so far but didn't fade at all. My suggestion is to always do some testing when working with mediums that you haven't used before to see how well they hold up :)
Oh my.... This is the easiest and best way I've seen so far!!! And just in time for me to put my labels on a baby quilt I'm making a friend!!! Thank you soooooo much!!!! ❤️

Thank you Lisa for this great labeling idea. You are amazing and I love your videos. I've been watching for a long time now. Blessings from your fan in Canada!
Hmmmm......I'll have to look the promarkers up, I haven't used them before so I can't say not knowing :) I'll do some investigating :) If you have them....go ahead and do some playing around with them on some scraps.....maybe even throw them in the wash (your test pieces that is) and see how they hold up :)
Just adorable! I’ve tried a few different methods with markers and such. I think I need different markers. The ones I have at a little chintzy. The pens I bought also bleed a little. I really like the idea of using the stamps and that was a great technique you demonstrated with the stamps as well. Always learning something new on this channel! Thanks for sharing Lisa❤️!
I've been experimenting with different fabric markers and paints.......I have yet to find markers that I absolutely LOVE...but these are pretty decent.
Check out the description box, I've provided links to the markers. The instructions on these markers actually just say to lay the item flat over night to dry before washing.......hahah I like to go the extra step and heat set them.....not sure that it makes a difference or not :)
