This is the closest I will ever get to Paducah. There are thousands of us out here, quilting away on our own, quietly finding our own harmony. Thank you for this.
We are not alone even if we feel like we are. Those of us that feel like we are alone on this gig called quilting are very thankful for short videos like this and @elizabethrobins you are not alone!
I'm Anita Huber who won 1st place 1st time entry in this film. This is a fantastic documentary about real people who love what they do "QUILTING" I'm so blessed and grateful that Olivia Loomis Merrion unexpectedly captured me and included my story in this film. Olivia, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love it! 💖💖💖
I am a brand new quilter and never knew quilting was such a massive thing. Thank you to all the people who took the time to make videos. They are my teachers. Love from Melbourne Australia.
I love this film. No matter the art/craft/hobby, there is no feeling like being with others who share our passion. The ability to talk shop and appreciate the items we create is very powerful and joyful.
This is one of the most wholesome and cutest things I've ever seen! All these older ladies with their hobbies and art and friendships and yearly gatherings! So sweet! I loved it!
There are actually a lot of younger women (and men!) who quilt as well but who can't attend these kinds of events because of jobs and children etc. It's not just old ladies!
Due to the Covid pandemic, quilt shows have been canceled for 2020. What a disappointing time for quilters who want to gather and share their love of fabric art. The quilt community is hoping that 2021 will bring back these celebrations of a beloved and important craft. Thank you for making this video.
I missed this so much this year. Every year we have gone has been one of the funnest, happiest weeks of my life! Plus I get to spend quality time with my Mom and Aunt, whom I adore!
I am fairly new to quilting. We don't have quilt shows in the UK that I know of. I found my love of quilting through Utube. I now see Eleanor, Jenny and Donna. I have learned so much from those beautiful ladies. My first throw size quilt was A Trip Around The World taught by Eleanor Burns. Thank you so much to you all.
This is great video. Feb. 16, 2024. I had the pleasure in 2007 of visiting Nashville for a quilt show and staying at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. Wow! What a fantastic trip. We had a day trip to Paducah and visited the Quilt Museum. Also Paducah fabrics. It was blazing hot outside, thank goodness for air conditioning. Marion in Oregon.
This was absolutely beautiful, and I have never seen this stunning art side of quilting. The quilts in this are breathtaking, and I wish I could buy so many of them!!
This is an enjoyable and sweet video and as comforting as a big hug. I went to Paducah a couple times with some friends in the first few years of the show. Even after all these years, the AQS shows were always the best quilt shows anywhere. I’ll admit my eyes got a little leaky as I was reminded of the many dear friends I’ve made through quilting.
Thanks for making and sharing beautiful film!💗💗💗 I was so ready to go to Paducah this year for the first time..I entered my quilts for the first time and got accepted too.. I hope we can win over COVID19 and able to go to enjoy quilt shows again!🙏🏾
My mom (god bless her soul) would have totally loved this, she quilted and was in a group, and she loved the quilting channel 😆, i still have some of her quilts. This just made me think of her thank you..💜
Alan Peters no one I know quilts, so for me it’s my sweet solitary pursuit, but love watch quilting shows and videos....pleases me to see others enjoying it too. I finally arranged my sewing room in the most comfortable setup, even if I’m not sewing, I’m cutting, or watching videos dreaming of the next project. My husband knows he can find me in my sewing room.
@@Kate98755 that's nice that you have a place you can go and immerse yourself in something you have passion for, my mother did not have a room dedicated solely to quilting or sewing but she always talked about how she wanted one, it was her happy place when she was quilting but as she got more I'll she couldn't anymore, thanks for responding, I think of her everyday but this just made the thoughts that much more special. Take care and enjoy your sewing room 😊
I Love that my love and Art of Quilting is AALIVE AND WELL TODAY. Long ago it was more a necessity than being raised to Art Quality today. Wonderful show. A wonderful craft.💜💙💛💚
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🥰🥳😍🤩❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙃😊😍🤔😅I cant find the right words..to share my feelings after watching this. The emojis couldn’t do it either. This touched me deeply! Thank you for creating and sharing. QUILTS MAKE THE WORLD MORE BEAUTIFUL!xo
I'm a little surprised there is no mention of the quilting phenomenon that is Missouri Star and Jenny Doan. She and her family have brought quilting to so many people and made it accessible with their free videos. Almost every quilt I've made came from one of her tutorials.
loriar1027 Agree! I see dear Eleanor, as that “grandma” everyone loves, for our quilt generation. She brought quilt inspiration right into our homes. It seems Miss Jenny, was handed the torch to carry it on. She’s everyone’s favorite neighbor lady! Both are down to earth, salt of the earth, folks. No “above us” expert attitude it’s always fun and happy! They share with and include, family first; then generously to ALL, the tender love and joy of quilting. They’re our big and little sisters, with a God given gift of infectious Quilt Charisma! ❤️
This was awesome. I am a newbie Quilter inspired by Jenny Doan, Donna Jordan and Eleanor Burns. Due to the stay at home because of Covid19 I had to find me a new hobby so I started the Quilt trend. Seeing this video and seeing all these beautiful Quilts inspires me even more but I am no match. I have laughed with these ladies " Quilters are nice people until there is only 2 yards in the bolt" and cried with Anita Huber, your quilt is beautiful. Now I want to go to Paducah.
Awe Thank you Carol. I was shocked that my quilt received a ribbon. I was ecstatic when it was excepted. When I was crying I thought that I was hiding, Olivia marvelously captured me when I thought that I could not be seen. I'm so grateful that she was there making her short film documentary. Absolutely love this film.
Eleanor Burns had a book in the late 80s Quilt in a Day. I used that book and started a quilt and demonstrated that technique and that piecing method in my college speech class. All of my speeches were about quilts. My classmates called me the quilt lady.
Elenor Burns made a stripper out of me! So happy to see this as our quilt show in New Braunfels, Texas was cancelled and then the International Qui.t show in Houston was cancelled!.. Quilters are always happy to share fabric, and knowledge. I normally hang out with some quilters but because of the virus the bee and the Guild hasn’t met. One of our ladies posted I MISS MY PEOPLE! And that sums it up. Thanks 😊
This was a lovely and moving short film, but as a quilter I could not help but notice what I notice every time I attend a quilt show, class or guild meeting: the average age of the quilters in the room. I know quilting is something many of us cannot take up seriously (let alone afford) till the careers are done and the family raised, but I am concerned that we are not really seeing the numbers of young quilters coming along that the industry must want to see, and that we older quilters would like to know will take up the baton.
Hi Eleanor I met you many many many many many years ago in Linthicum in Maryland a little shop I want your class is quilt day. It was great I love seeing you.
the music is very charming to me, any knows where can I listen to those pieces? I tried searched google from the cast list however nowhere can I found :-( It would be great if someone could help, thank you~
Loved the documentary, but what was that short Insert interruption abour "bringing weed in from Jamaica"? Insulting to the charming quilt event documentary.

All alone in NH, but quilting away to bliss...😊

Well done Anita! Your quilt was outstanding!!!
Your quilt is beautiful and the story behind it is very touching. Congratulations!!!
What a heartwarming story, Congratulations on your award, your quilt is beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful way to remember your family. You are an artist!
Anita, congratulations your quilt is beautiful :). This documentary is wonderful, such a great tribute to quilters and quilting : ).
I made my first quilt, an Eleanor Burns Log Cabin Quilt, and it changed my life forever.
Me too😊
I just love Eleanor!!!!😊
I am a brand new quilter and never knew quilting was such a massive thing. Thank you to all the people who took the time to make videos. They are my teachers. Love from Melbourne Australia.
My deceased grandmother's quilts are the some of the most cherished possessions for my extended family. Fascinating doc.
I love this film. No matter the art/craft/hobby, there is no feeling like being with others who share our passion. The ability to talk shop and appreciate the items we create is very powerful and joyful.

Birmingham used to have an international quilt show, it was a big deal. Will be interesting to see if it comes back after pandemic.
This made me cry. I don't know why. Maybe the comrade, maybe the artistry, maybe the history, maybe all of it.

What a great documentary. I've looked at quilts that have made me cry. You can look at any quilt and if you look hard enough it will tell you a story.
"To quilt is heaven...to finish, divine."
This is the absolute sweetest thing I've ever seen. Made me cry, I love it :-)
This was absolutely beautiful, and I have never seen this stunning art side of quilting. The quilts in this are breathtaking, and I wish I could buy so many of them!!

Alan Peters I’ve only had this room for 4 years, I’m 60, I waited a long time, I feel lucky to have it.
Nice one. We need more documentaries.
I Love that my love and Art of Quilting is AALIVE AND WELL TODAY.
Long ago it was more a necessity than being raised to Art Quality today.
Wonderful show. A wonderful craft.💜💙💛💚
This was such an uplifting short about adorable people! I was smiling for 15 minutes
Kat I cried for happy.
Kat you’re right on. I didn’t even realize it was 15 minutes! It went too fast. Left me wanting more!
wow this is the best quilting documentary i have seen yet ! , thank you so much 😁
I really worry that one day their may not be any more quilters alive & well, please do not let this wonderful artestry die out!!!
Do you realize there are about 26 million quilters in America? More are joining all the time.
This was wonderful! I love the feeling it gave me happiness joy and a touch of sadness! Wonderful tribute to quilters across the world.
just wonderful. I miss quilt shows and this was just fabulous.
What gifted folks! Fabulous!
What a lovely documentary. The whole concept is amazing and heartwarming to see.

Fabric and quilting is the epitome of happiness on earth

I have that book.
Lovely touching tribute to the artists that quilt.
All Quilters are REAL!!!
Beautiful Video…Thank you for sharing…❤️
I am from Denmark, and most wanna go to the States to witness things like New York etc. I wanna go here! Top on my bucket-list!
Love watching this video over and over. I have been to the Houston show 6 years In a row then my work company merged and I lost my job.
Loved watching this video! I felt proud when I noticed the Canadian flag flying, thanks for showing respect for my fellow Canadians!

This reminds me of the quilting episode in the show Suburgatory. Those ladies were gas!
I have never been to Paducah. What a lovely
Show.
Eleanor Burns inspired all 4 of my quilts.
We love her!
Brings back memories wonderful experience

Good for Eleanor Burns doung what she did after her husband left. Think of all the quilts that have been made from her inspiring people to quilt
Excellent video thank you
Eleanor Burns 🥰🥰🥰
the music is very charming to me, any knows where can I listen to those pieces? I tried searched google from the cast list however nowhere can I found :-(
It would be great if someone could help, thank you~
AWESOME!!
Loved the documentary, but what was that short Insert interruption abour "bringing weed in from Jamaica"? Insulting to the charming quilt event documentary.
Nothing wrong with a little bit of weed, even for quilters 🙂
Can this please be a full length documentary?
Really enjoyed
Before covid so many people 😮
Love the costumes
Great lady's❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Is quilting hard to do?
Not really. Some are easy amd some are very difficult. For me, it's relaxing and I can be creative. Anita Huber
No, but it’s hard to stop. It’s the best, and the quilt community is so nice!
No, if you can work a sewing machine, you can quilt!
Just a couple of stars.......you are totally up for this!
It's easy to make a quilt. The problem is that it really does become an obsession 😄
I dont even know what quilt is but here i am
Now you know!
We miss you come back to us. Show us the way Eleanor Burns UA-cam’s is way to show your magic.
So cute
Nice.
Great video 👍🏼 but I wish younger people were represented better.
You're right. Younger quilters are out there. Go to a local quilt show sponsored by a local guild and there they are.

Surprisingly hardly any young quilters
What's sad watching this is the quilters are mostly elderly. 15 years it maybe a thing of the past.
I was thinking the same thing. I'm wondering if it was some sort of an editorial decision, to showcase only older, senior women.
