I appreciate your sharing of technique without demanding that I buy your book or pattern. We all need to start somewhere. Thankyou.

I’m so glad you showed the different techniques. I will be using the glue. So much easier. And thank you.

Thank you! I use different techniques based on what I'm doing. Sometimes glue works, sometimes it doesn't...

I just finished watching this and I think I will use it for my next big project.
NASA created tourist posters for different planets in the solar system and galaxy and so I think I will recreate one.
Since NASA is a government agency there is no copyright infringement.

Thanks for the videos. Did you ever make a lesson on using Gimp to edit your photo? You mention that requires it's own lesson.

Everyone seems to have their own technique. You are the first person I've seen using Tacky Glue to adhere the pieces. Do you prefer it over the fusible, and do you have any problems with glue residue on the machine needle? I've noticed Canadians use basting spray, which seems a lot faster, because SOS is very expensive up there.

Hi Lucy! It honestly depends on what I'm doing. For landscapes, large areas, I prefer the fusible. But when I am trying to get details and want creative flexibility I grab the glue. The Aleenes tacky glue doesn't seem to cause any problems with the machine needle at all. I've used the spray glue in the past, but that does make the needle sticky for me.

I learned about the Tacky Glue method to adhere fabric pieces for collage from reading Susan Carlson's books. check her out! she is a very famous collage quilter. i tried her method and it works very well. no it doesn't gum up the needle. just let the glue dry before sewing. it is very inexpensive to use the glue as opposed to fusible web. with the glue method you can also remove the fabric if you don't like where you placed it, before sewing it down of course. the trick is to use a very light smear of the glue. happy sewing!

Thank you for the feedback. I wasn't reading, that is how I normally narrate. I hate the process of making videos, which is why I haven't created any lately. My day job is a teacher, and the way I present information is not usually by video!
