The ants were helping themselves to my first Happy Valley PA figs. One tree had three figs and ants ate one before I even noticed the fruit finally ripened. Maybe next year will yield more and larger. I took them out of pots and they really seemed to like being in the ground. Waiting for frost which might be tonight.
Try sprinkling fresh coffee ground around the base of your tree. It really helps when I have ant problems! Figs love being planted in ground in the summer, but they really suffer during our cold winters.
Oh so CdDB is more for looks it’s not necessary the best tasting fig in a zone 5 climate (I was wondering if it was worth getting, black Madeira is doing very well for me I’ve been getting many ripe figs this year that don’t split!)
Wow, great!) I am also waiting for signal fruiting on this unique variety)))
Wow that fig is huge and beautiful too. Inside looks like BNR.

5 inches of rain during the peak of the season, never fails lol
So true!
There is another type of fig tree but its a huge tree like giant tree and its fruit are giant like your fig fruit
How would you compare that to col de dame blanc and black Madeira?
CdDB never ripened well here, so Mutante is much improved. Not much compares to Black Madeira, but Mutante was close behind.

@@spencerlincoln2428 those that get it to ripen say it is great. I never had much luck here though, so I'd skip.
