What If Ash Woke Up On Time?

- In a world where he never smashed his alarm and arrived to Professor Oak's Lab early, how would Ash Ketchum's journey through Kanto have gone? That's what I attempted to plot out here. How would things have gone differently? Let's find out!
I wanted to finish this video up like a week ago. I've been working on it for a month or so because it required me to watch through like thirty hours of Pokémon. Then editing it took way longer than expected. So, sorry for the pretty lengthy delay between videos. I had a lot of fun working on it so I hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching!

What I wanna know is why professor oak promised 4 kids Pokémon but only had three to give out officially.
Even funnier is how he let ash open all the pokeballs first only to be disappointed. When he should've introduced him to Pikachu first.

A solid theory all things considered. The one thing I'd change is at the end: Given that Gary would have trained specifically to beat Ash, I'd like to think he'd get too confident in the finals and he'd end up the runner up instead of the champion.
that sounds very reasonable
It makes a lot of sense, seeing that Gary was quite an egotistical person. If the franchise ends, I want the last main battle to be between Ash and Gary, who after all this time, became the kanto champion, and Ash beats him. Just a wish.
He doesn’t meet Ho-Oh, meaning all of his life would likely just be unlucky as hell in comparison.
And he would actually age for a change
@@anson3383 true
I do think he would meet Ho-Oh, because as we already saw, he is like a "chosen one" so he would meet him anyways

@@anson3383 and thus Pokemon XY is forever changed with the absence of Serena's crush towards Ash since he would be 17 or something.
I do wonder if the Cerulean Gym Battle might have happened in this timeline.
The Cerulean Sisters don't have any Pokemon left to battle specifically because they got beaten 3 times in a row "by a bunch of trainers from this nowhere place called Pallet Town".
I guess it depends on whether or not you think Ash still would have gotten to Cerulean later than the other Pallet Town trainers even if it had woken up earlier and had less distractions along the way.
i think it would be cool if as ash is walking out he gets interrupted by misty and she then battles him and joins him
Let's keep in mind that Jessie and James probably still bumped into the fourth trainer from pallet and are still trying to capture that Pikachu. They would still intersect with Ash every time Gary met Team Rocket in the original timeline, since Gary got the Squirtle, right?
Now the question is whether Misty would join Pallet's pikachu trainer, or some other effect would cause her to still follow Ash.
@@Nukepositive the Pikachu was only as powerful as it was due to a lot of contrivances that revolved around Ash
The way I thought about it was that the time spent in Pewter would probably still make him the last to arrive.
@@EnterTheUnown on the other hand, though, we know the two who weren't Ash and Gary eventually did quit their journeys (at a later point, but still indicative of their level of drive), and Oak only gave Ash Pikachu because of how hard he begged for a Pokemon. It would be a reasobaly justifiable assumption the would-be Bulbasaur chooser (or possibly would-be Charmander chooser, displaced by the third person), may have just not been given Pikachu due to either less drive or just being mature enough not to whine at Oak until Oak gave him a Pokemon.

Kinda like his Greninja losing to a Charizard
@@TheMNHShow but charizard was part dragon type
This ended up being so much deeper than "He chooses a Squirtle instead of Pikachu." and that is awesome. I never thought the plot itself could be so different.
One thing this change helps Ash is he won most of his badges fairly now, not the pity victories he usually got after Team Rocket trashed his fights. This means in theory his pokemon should respect and follow him far more. It's one pretty big fan theory Charizard was always so disobedient because Ashe didn't honestly earn most of his badges.
*Opinion:*
Awesome video! However, I think Gary still would've gotten Squirtle first, as he says in the first episode, "If you'd shown up on time, you woulda seen that I got the best Pokemon from Professor Oak. It's good to have a grandfather in the Pokemon business, isn't it?" This implies that even if Ash got there earlier, he still wouldn't have gotten the first one; he just would have been on time to watch Gary do so because of nepotism.
Ash's second choice was Bulbasaur, but he still could have caught Pidgey; Gust was Normal-type back then and Bulbasaur knows Tackle, so type wouldn't have mattered. No Spearow encounter.
I still think Ash could've gotten a Butterfree because Caterpie is so common, but it wouldn't have changed much; Pidgey would lose to Pinsir like Pidgeotto did, the Metapod battle would be the same, the trade wouldn't ultimately affect anything, and he'd still let it go.
The Grass moves Bulbasaur learned from Flint's training would have let him defeat Brock. Misty's sisters lost to the earlier Pallet trainers, but even if Ash outpaced them, Bulbasaur could've swept them with Grass moves, just as it did in the main timeline under another trainer's direction.
Bulbasaur could evolve when Squirtle did. Having an Ivysaur, he wouldn't have needed Bulbasaur, but he'd still get Charmander. Not Squirtle, either, but he'd still catch Krabby.
Ivysaur could probably handle Raichu, but if it lost with its limited mobility, Brock could teach it Double Team or something, which could let it dodge like Wartortle's Dig.
Marsh Badge is the same. Psychic attacks ruin Ivysaur, so Haunter is a necessity. Mankey's the same as you said, as is Erica, and Pidgey evolves. He still catches Muk, but it's only his sixth Pokemon, so it's not boxed, and the Soul Badge plays out the same. I can still see Tauros replacing Krabby, too.
Blaine could give Ash trouble. Tauros has Fissure and could learn Earthquake, and Mankey could evolve or learn Dig/Rock Slide. Primeape could still earn him the Earth Badge.
Ash vs. Gary would be different. Ash's Venusaur could beat Gary's Blastoise, but Gary's Arcanine would give him serious trouble, especially with Krabby possibly being boxed. Ash's Charmander could still evolve with this setup, and an arrogant Gary would lose in the first round of the championship. Ash's first round plays out the same as before with Krabby evolving, and Kingler allows him to probably beat the second round with little trouble. Charmeleon and Muk take out Jeanette.
Ritchie's Butterfree vs. Ash's Venusaur is close, as they probably both have powder moves at this point. Butterfree's speed and mobility would help, but Venusaur's Double Team could come into play, and it has better stats. Butterfree uses Whirlwind, though, which means it probably knows Confusion, which is super effective and OP in the anime. I'd give Butterfree the edge, as Venusaur can't do much against Bug/Flying-types. Charmeleon and Pidgeotto could take Butterfree out next. Pikachu could handle Pidgeotto, but neither Pikachu nor Charmander could handle Charmeleon, so Ash would eventually win either way.
Against Assunta, Rhydon falls to Venusaur, Venomoth and Ivysaur lose to Charmeleon or Pidgeotto, and Tentacool and Spearow are laughable. Ash could only lose this one on purpose.
Do I think he'd win the League? Probably not. Most of his Pokemon would have very shallow movesets. Even if he did win, he'd lose to Lorelei in the first round, as he doesn't have anything that can handle combination Water and Ice-types, and she has two of those.
*tl;dr Gary's dialogue suggests Ash actually would've gotten Venusaur. He'd probably lose to Gary but get farther in the League, where he'd be walled either by another contestant or Lorelei at the beginning of the Elite Four. I love the video, though!*
Why did I do all this lol
This is amazing! I appreciate this view of the alternate-alternate timeline. My thoughts on the Gary quote were just that he was trying to rub it in to make things worse for Ash. I don't believe that Professor Oak would really let Gary select first just because he's family. In fact, I feel like (similar to the games) he'd make Gary wait knowing that not giving him his way would probably be good for him in the long run.
@@EnterTheUnown Definitely a valid interpretation! Gary was such a brat back then that I wouldn't put it past him to do that.
One thought, given that he does get Butterfree in your timeline, he'd still eventually release it anyway. So he wouldn't have to box Krabby once he got Tauros. If Krabby got more training since he wasn't boxed, he could've evolved during the Gary fight and beat him.
@@maninthetrenchcoat5603 By the time the Gary fight happened, he'd have Venusaur, Pidgeotto, Charmander/Charmeleon, Muk, Mankey, Tauros, and Krabby, which is still 7. It's impossible to know for sure whether he'd keep Krabby or Tauros on the team, but Ash was never really partial to Krabby and took it out for only two episodes. It also lost to an Arcanine in the championship even as a Kingler, so it's a gamble either way, especially because Gary's Arcanine defeated Giovanni's Kingler.
Even if that weren't true, Ash has used his Tauros a lot more than his Krabby in canon, so though we'll never know the answer for sure, the information we do know points to him losing the battle, Kingler or no Kingler.
Why did I press 'Read more'
The best change in this timeline is Ash not being a fool and giving away his Primeape, why would you give away the greatest pokemon ever.
Finally l thought i was the only 1 who loved primeape
@@karankukreja9628 I know, its definitely not the most popular pokemon but Mankey and Primeape have always been my favourite pokemon evolution line.
Ehh im not to sure about that last one chief.
@@joshuagrosvenor9837 it needs a 3rd evolution to make it competitive to current gen pokemon. 30 more speed and 20 more attack with a good ability and an updated moveset would make it pretty good. Could also give it a secondary typing.
@@robertharris6092 the only typing I could see Mankey with is normal, it would be trash unless they put it with a dark, ghost, or fairy with increased speed and atk, or increased def with fairy.
Yeah Ashe's biggest problem was always his passive approach to being a trainer. Basically he just moved from place to place and waited for something to happen. If no one else challenged him or Team rocket didn't attack, he did nothing. It usually took being brick walled against a Gym for him to actively train, and it's usually just one or two pokemon learning a single attack.
There is also the issue of his team being a revolving door and most of them never evolving. He gains and loses "friends" so often what little time he did spend training his pokemon is mostly wasted as they leave his active team. Other than PIkachu obviously, which is probably why it's so OP in canon. He always leads with it, and it probably counted as a "Traded Pokemon" thus gained experience faster.
i still think ash would've caught the 20 Tauros cause let's face it, he'd be frustrated catching the same pokemon and would keep going until he runs out of balls or caught something new

Considering how Pikachu was decided to be the mascot and how rare they're supposed to be in Viridian Forest, something tells me in this scenario, Ash would have captured a wild Pikachu. Maybe not one as "special" as our universe's, but still a Pikachu.
Good point. I know in the games they are found in viridian forest but in the anime in pikachus goodbye with all those wild pikachu. That's another forest that isnt in the game so ash would probably have caught his pikachu there.
I just realized, that means one of the other three trainers who got the starters ended up taking the Pikachu
Interesting idea. I wonder what would have happened, because they probably wouldn't meet the Spearows and this trainer would have to get Pikachu's trust in another way, or maybe he wouldn't befriend Pikachu at all. Maybe Pikachu would stay with Oak, or maybe Pikachu would evolve at some point. Maybe this trainer would meet Misty. Maybe the trainer would release Pikachu and catch a pokémon that listens.
That's really interesting.
It's pretty likely no one got Pikachu, really. Ash only got it in the prime timeline from whining
The other trainers gave up being pokemon trainers in the original timeline im going to assume the same for this timeline
If one of the other trainers would’ve gotten Pikachu it might’ve played out with that trainer building a relationship with Pikachu before leaving Pallet Town for their Pokémon journey. This would create a strong rival and level headed trainer that would catch up to Ash and the other trainers. And for being set back a couple months this trainer would probably have a unique fighting style or just a very skilled trainer.
That other guy will get recked by team Rocket
The final showdown pretty much got decided by that double-KO between him and Gary before the league. I wonder if Gary winning there could actually have the opposite effect that double-KO had and make Ash train harder while Gary gets a bit too cocky. Anyway, Ash losing the semifinals to him is still the most likely outcome I think.
(I absolutely prefer this Alternate team to the one he had)
Same hear I personally like Chameleons better then Charizard, and blastoise is my favorite starter. It would also be cool for him to keep Primape and Pigeot.

If Ash woke up on time we wouldn't have Pokémon Yellow because no Pikachu, and the anime wouldn't be that different from Pokémon Red and Blue to justify a new, anime-based version of the game anyway. Without that trend, maybe there wouldn't be Pokémon Emerald either, or Platinum etc.

@Sir We Are About to Die please elaborate?
@@marblebongos2794 Some of that problem is because there weren't many choices for good electric pokemon in Gen 1 until mid-late game. Without using TMs the only real useful electric pokemon were Pikachu/Raichu, Jolteon, Electabuzz (which is really only useful if you're not already using a Pikachu/Raichu or Jolteon), and Zapdos. I do agree that I feel Pikachu is a bit overrated, same as Charizard (which also suffers from a lack of good fire pokemon in Gen 1; especially compared to rather the plentiful water and grass pokemon of Gen 1).

Honestly you could apply that to any other companion other than Brock (who is helpful by his cooking and being an expert to the rules of Pokemon). Even if characters like May Dawn and Serena didn't travel with Ash the journey wouldn't change much. Team Rocket really got off easy here. Not obsessing over Pikachu kept them from constantly going bankrupt and becoming crash-test dummies. And sadly, they probably managed to steal a lot more Pokémon...
Misty’s absence means there’s less drama in the group and seems to prevent a lot of events from happening. No destroyed bikes, no perfume incidents, no issues with Psyduck, no fighting over Togepi... Wow, Misty seemed to spark a lot of conflict. Plus, Ash and Brock save a fortune by not getting involved in the Princess Day event (ugh).
I am sad to see some of Ash’s Pokémon are not included due to Ash not oversleeping, but it’s understandable. I’m curious about what could have happened to them. Same with Togepi since he was never discovered in the canyon. Maybe you could eventually do a short video about their lives in this timeline? It would be pretty neat.
However, it’s refreshing to see Charmeleon cooperate with Ash and not be a jerk. Even if Muk doesn’t get his chance in the spotlight.
Seeing Ash get crushed by Gary in the semifinals is a bittersweet ending for this arc. On one hand, Ash made it much farther than canon and didn’t suffer an embarrassing loss with a disobedient Charizard. But knowing Gary beat him so thoroughly was hard. Still, Ash was really arrogant during the Indigo League so his hubris was bound to bring him down eventually. Especially when that battle in Pallet Town spurred Gary to improve himself so much.

I can only imagine your version of Ash growing up both as a trainer and a person in the next few arcs to eventually settle in as a gym leader in the orange islands thanks to him becoming a more comptent person and trainer due to waking up on time.
The start reminds me of the "Alternate Universe" movie, "I Choose You". Its conceit is that Ash still wakes up late, and is still stuck with Pikachu, but when he sees Ho-Oh it drops a 'rainbow wing' that instantly heals Ash and Pikachu.
Without Pikachu being injured, he never encounters Misty and never meets Team Rocket in Viridian City. Ash does, however, acquire a Caterpie (eventually, not immediately)...and is actually competent enough to have a literal no-loss record until the movie's version of Damien appears. Even the matter of him fighting Erika without an issue, the end of that battle is where the story's own action gets going.

Imagine of May/Max, Dawn, Serena, really any other player characters from their game without ash.
@@kyleellis9177 it would be so awesome
I find it ironic that in this world where another version of the BUTTERFLY effect is put in practice, Ash doesn’t catch a butterfree
The best part about this timeline is that the most infuriating things in the Indigo League (Ash losing because Charizard is a jerk and the contrived interference of Team Rocket) don't take place.
Wow. I've never been this early to a video. But ugh just imagine if Ash had started with a Squirtle and never gotten another form the Squirtle Squad. That would have been a tragedy.
The new Yellow wouldve gotten a squirtle
@Dog Treats
*There's a Pikachu on the loose stealing people's food and Ash decides to help and ends up catching it AND ASH STILL GETS A DISOBEDIENT PIKACHU BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY REASON TO LIKE HIM AT ALL AND-*
(Prompts to anyone who recognises this)
My thoughts exactly, glad he didn't wake up.
Leafgreen 25 Pokémon Adventures Red 😉
This is an interesting idea, but my personal headcanon is that if Ash had woken up on time Professor Oak would still have tried to give Ash a Pikachu. Since he knew Ash was supposed to have a Pikachu from his adventure with Celebi.
Ah, the good old paradox problem.
2
Ah, but that was only if Ash woke up late. If he had woken up early, Samuel would have met his Blastoise instead, and thus would ensure he chose Squirtle. In a Causal Loop, whatever Ash's choice would have been would have always been as it was known in the 4th movie.
@Tom Schwartzmans Maybe time is cyclical
Also since Gary got first pick because nepotism.
I went to revisit this series because of how memorable and awesome it is and I can't believe that the comment I made back when this came out was two years ago! Time really does fly... This series was awesome. I know it's been a long time and it would probably be too difficult to continue this series due to the incredible scale and work set up that would take place after your rendition of gen 5. Just know that when I say this I mean it from the bottom of my heart this series was awesome. Truly a wonderful and incredibly well thought story. To put it into the perspective about how much this series means to me, know that this isn't even my first rewatch, this is my second or third. You truly made something incredible and I respect your decision to not continue it. You've done a great job, I'll see you on your second channel.
edit: I just realised (re-realised?) that you uploaded the Unova episode on my birthday!
Another edit: it’s almost been another year and I would like to say that a few week after making this comment I learned that he was continuing it, and just now I learned he made a Kalos continuation 8 days ago.
Yoooo I kinda want a sequel to this, this was super clever!
I think this would be mostly correct but I think Pidgeotto would evolve earlier because for a while he is his only other pokemon besides blastoise.
So if you want friends and a fun companion, don't wake up early, kids!
But Brock is a cool friend and by the start Misty was a bit tiresome to deal with because she never stopped whinning about her bike...
If this timeline was in our world, Blastoise would be the series' mascot.
I wish that was the case, Blastoise is my favourite pokemon.
I like flying snake and shiny hunting starter from gen 3

In the Cerulean gym the sisters didn’t want to battle him because there were no Pokemon left to battle with because they had been beaten by three other trainers from pallet town already. But if Ash woke up on time and got to the lab first, Ash would have probably had a big fight against the sisters because he arrived first there as well.
Likely second since Gary had a sports car. But you are right.
@@alphabladelm2011 Very true
A sports car, a cheerleading squad, 10 badges, and a news interview. The guy was loaded.
@@alphabladelm2011 Because he was the grandson of the most famous professor of the region and everyone was rooting for him to win...ummm .except oak.😐😐
Love the concept, but the only gripe I had is that Brock was always fairly intuitive and very aware and competent when it comes to battle (he is a completely different dude once a pretty girl is involved). I see him noticing Gary after the draw against Ash and possibly telling Ash that Gary is about to redouble his training and Ash should consider the same. Ash acknowledges it, but doesn't take it fully seriously. It doesn't change much in the results (still loses to Gary but it is closer) but seeing the value in training hard (a tie turning into a win or a loss) could affect Ash much sooner than it does in the regular series.
Awesome work, though!
This is such an oddly specific video and I love it
I feel like Ash would still need Muk to beat Bellsprout, since it dodged everything Ash's Pokemon threw at it. I don't think even Charmeleon's Flamethrower would be able to hit it.
Other than that, I think everything makes perfect sense.
There is something called *PLOT*
Charmeleon would be faster and grab bellsprout remember charmeleon is a stubborn pokemon he would grab him and flame him on the spot
Gary would've got Squirtle regardless, it was made clear that it was specifically saved for him. The Pokemon that makes the most sense for Ash would be Bulbasaur, in order to differentiate him from Red
As well as the fact that Gary is oak’s grandson. So he’d go first.
I understand that Blue in the games chose second but Blue isn’t Gary,
0:00 at this point red already has every single pokemon on the kanto reigion and all maxed out
Shit you are right...
I'm now so curious how this alternate timeline would affect his future journeys in other regions.
Now we need anither video for that
I thought that too. Maybe he’d win a league by Hoenn at the latest.
And how it would affect the movies.
He would’ve won a league by unova
Sinnoh or Hoenn preferably
And would’ve won Unova and kalos
And would’ve stream rolled Alola
But he never saw ho-oh so he may not be able to have as many adventures
This video made me cry. The music is beautiful and the life lessons are so rich
So it's actually more or less a net gain. That's honestly kind of funny
Team Rocket would probably not be blasting off again.

7:30: Ash, Misty, Brock and Team Rocket were freed from the St. Anne by Charmander's Flamethrower. Team Rocket would've remained onboard because of James' Magikarp drama. Wouldn't they have perished in the St. Anne as they had no way out?
Other than that, fantastic video.
Good question. They wouldn’t have gotten stuck on the ship in the first place because in the original episode Ash was trying to get butterfree back, but since he didn’t have butterfree in this version, him and Brock got off the ship in time.
Perhaps not. The reason for the Magikarp drama was due to them constantly having money issues from trying to steal Pikachu. Because they aren't obsessed with doing that, they'd have money and James could have not fallen for the trick.
@@weridplusho if James was smarter in the TV show timeline, he would know what Magikarp evolves into, so he'd likely add Gyrados to his team.
@@goldscape6875 100%. He'd have that _and_ his Growlithe. But nope, that's be too cool.

@@weridplusho WAIT.
If he's RICH, THEN WHY USE PART OF *JESSIE'S* MONEY FOR THE MAGIKARP?!?!
I think the bigger question here is who are the other trainers from Pallet Town? They took the remaining starters and we hear about them from a few trainers immediately after Ash's journey began, but aside from Gary we don't see these trainers at all. And beyond the first handful of episodes they're never mentioned again. Who were they, what were their Pokémon, how far did they take their journey? So many questions, zero answers.
The Early bird almost got the worm, but still needed to train its wings off.
This is so cool man! I feel for ash and his tardiness. I literally have to plan to be places about 15 min early to not be late 😂
i keep forgetting that ‘tardiness’ isn’t a slur
I heard that ‘to be on time is to be early.’
From a teacher I had in high school.
Something that I literally just now realized, even if Ash DIDN'T break his alarm clock, he probably still wouldn't have made it. I mean considering how pretty much the ENTIRE TOWN could choose a starter from Professor Oak, and he only had FOUR available Pokemon to choose, it's amazing Ash even got a Pokemon at all.
it is funny that it's like "first come first serve" though you do have to wonder how many people are turning 10 on the same day in the 1 small town. that said, of course being his Grandson Gary would get first dibs. heck, if I was Gary I'd have stayed the night at gramps just to guarantee being first in line.
damn, just by waking up early
everything would change
It’s funny how waking up on time could have changed everything...
Yeah lmaooo

I loved this! I never got to watch the whole thing when you first uploaded it all those months ago. Can't wait to watch the Johto one next! RIP Pikachu
Couldn't resist re-watching this before watching part 2. Just as fun the second time around.
I love this theory but you did miss something, you said that Ash would not have actually won a Cascade badge but if he were to have woken up on time then he would have actually battled because he would have been either 1st or at least 3rd.
P. S. Again I love this theory it is really interesting.
Man: You want to be shot?
Ash: Not in English

I feel like if ash hadve chose Squirtal, It would definitely be the fan favourite of all the starters instead of Charmander being the one mostly chose and most popular.
To a point I agree, especially if there is no Pikachu, most kids are going to go with the main characters main pokemon. Though if you were like me, and got your first pokemon game after knowing the final forms, which one are you going to choose, the dragon, the frog, or the turtle?
It's ironic because Charmander is definitely the worst starter to play the game with. Bulbusaur cruises through the first 3 gyms which are the most difficult as you have less pokemon, moves and items available and Venesaur is slightly better for the pokemon league.
@Theodore MacAulay definitely agree about their base forms, and I'm understating it cuz of my biases, but yea I don't really see flowers appealing to many. But guns, fuck yeah, 😂😂😂
this theory is insane, i’m just imagining ash without pikachu, i never thought about this theory since i just couldn’t imagine ash without pikachu, ash not being late literally changes everything
So very interesting scenario, but the thing is Professor Oak had more then just one of each starter. He told Ash someone already took that pokemon, but if they did why would there be a empty pokeball. It's because Oak set it up to make Ash think he didn't have any left. Now why would he?? Its because when Oak was younger he met a trainer that ended up time traveling to the past because of Celebi (Ash) and that trainer had a companion Pikachu. So when Oak got older and found a stubborn Pikachu he knew it was meant for Ash. So either way Ash would have got Pikachu if he woke up late or not
God, now I NEED an anime of this alternate reality! Blastoise is also my favourite Pokémon, so I would be very happy if Ash arrived in time and chose Squirtle.
Awesome work man, really hope for part 2 in Johto!!!

I just saw through to the end. There's a lot to process. I can say in general, this is an impressive and engaging presentation.
Such an interesting idea for a video! I'd LOVE to see how far the butterfly effect would carry this alternate timeline, if it was followed through to the current place in the anime. What kind of person would "Punctual Ash" be by now?!
You mean the "Butterfree Effect" right?
A better question is, why did Oak only have three Pokemon ready when he knew four trainers were coming to get one?
to teach them how important it is to wake up early.

In a way, this what if story makes Ash's journey more direct and victorious. I actually like it! Keep up the good work!
This was really interesting.
However, in movie 4 we see a young Professor Oak time travel and meet Ash. Therefore, Professor Oak knew about Pikachu being Ash's starter and he would probably have made sure Ash got Pikachu.
Yeah but if ash wasn't late then oak would have seen him with Squirtle or Bulbasaur instead of pikachcu
Whether or not the movies are canon is a pretty hot topic in the pokemon community. Some movie events are referenced in the main series(Ash's aura ability, Dawns Lunar Wing, Ash meeting a Lugia in Pokemon 2000) but most movie events are never discussed in the main series. So it stands to reason that Pokemon 4Ever may not be canon as the events of the movie are never referenced in the main series. 🧐🧐🧐
@@cortex5271 Pokemon 4Ever is canon, take a look at this great video made by Lumiose Trainer Zac on the topic: ua-cam.com/video/q4nPRVnWiMQ/v-deo.html
But Prof. Oak was a kid back then. He probably wouldn't remember Ash and Pikachu if he can't even remember his own grandson's name.

This was a really great idea that's totally original and I enjoyed it a lot. Keep up all these creative ideas cause besides them I still feel you put the best effort into battles for challenges making them sounds like fight instead of..."and the next one out I use flamethrower then the next one out I use thunderpunch" so on and so forth. Also I hope you continue with this series use his waking up late to effect is next journey or worse case being still 10 I'm sure he has a problem waking up every season as he never gets the chances to grow and mature learning over time so he keeps making the same mistake lol!
