In this What if Scenario, we figure out what would Ash Ketchum's Pokemon Teams be if we couldn't pick Pokemon he's caught before! We're starting off with KANTO, JOHTO, and HOENN!

It would be so very cool if his new hypothetical Sinnoh team has Magmortar, Rhyperior, Tangrowth, & Mismagius because it’s reminiscent of when he brought back old Pokémon for the sinnoh league
You could have it to where Ash and Gary to a trade to evolve Electabuzz and Rhydon

Houndour's backstory explanation sounds similar to what happened to Tracey's Scyther in canon, with it being unruly and disobedient towards Tracey as a result of being rejected by its clan.
I am enjoying this interesting take on alternative teams for Ash. The limit of picking Pokémon he has not caught before is interesting.
Honestly, for Houndoom, just give Ash the Houndour with the scar from Hour of the Houndour. It had all the makings of an important Ash catch episode. Also, and this is just personal, a dream what if catch would be Ash actually catching the Aerodactyl that snatched him up. I like the Salamence idea, and can even see Ash encouraging Bagon to keep trying to fly, completely oblivious to the fact that it just can't until it evolves.

Very solid teams! Their different and as one of those peeps that just altered some team members (except Journeys really) I think you not only explained well but showed how effective these Pokemon would be in battle and their roles. Great video and can't wait to see more!

I love the idea of giving Ash a Magmar!! That is the power early Ash needed. Magmar is my favorite Gen 1 Pokémon, so that's incredible!
I also love Misdreavus for Ash, it's an underrated Ghost Type, and ive used it before. Lol
You couldve given ash a rapidash since his dad had one. it couldve been cool how despite it being cocky and insufferable, ash wouldnt give up just to prove himself in memory of his father (not that he's dead)

I really liked how you created all of these teams, giving them all backstories and personalities. I could see any of these as legit teams for Ash for their respective series.

This was super cool. I love the restriction of none of the Pokemon Ash has used (as well as the semi rule of avoiding Pokemon that other UA-camrs have given them) as not only does that make this way more unique and out of the box, it requires much deeper thought to what Pokemon fit Ash with this in mind. A lot of picks that put me off at first but came around to after some explanation. As for the most contentious pick, Flygon might hurt me as I love both it and the idea of Ash having it but when it comes down to it, Salamence is just the better option with how much clear story potential it has. Overall great vid and going over to part 2 now.

I had an idea, an exception to your rule of no pokemon he already caught. Basically, only pokemon that didn't fully evolve, can evolve.
Something I loved in your video I feel was missing from other videos is the stories you give behind the Pokemon.
I've seen so many (like with Flygon) that say "he should have this just because" with no story or anything, just because they feel like it fits with Ash.
This is the first video I saw in 2024 and I have to say, it's a great way to start the year. Massive kudos, just subscribed!

These are pretty interesting alternative teams for Ash in Kano, Johto and Hoenn. They have interesting dynamics, cool backstories and they would definitely make for interesting adventures. Plus I’m just happy Ash gets a Salamence.

For his Kanto team, i can actually imagine Ash getting a Magmar doing the Cinnabar Mansion stuff.
For Johto, you wanted him to get a Fire type and Houndoom actually feels the most unique out of the options (Which Magcargo also is) + it will get him the newly introduced type in Johto. You mention Harisson having a Houndoom as well, so why not make Ash's Houndoom shiny in the process and it can even also be a contributing factor next to it being thrown away by its pack because its weak, but also because it has a different color.
For Hoenn, i would personally swap out Swampert for Walrein. Yes, i know this might be controversial, but in Johto, Ash already got a Water/Ground type and he doubles up on the Ground type in Hoenn, with Camerupt. So i feel like Walrein would bring something else to the table, compared to Swampert + Ash is in need of an Ice type at this point.
I do like the spin on these teams! But for marketing reasons I can’t see him not have at least one starter each season but I do like these new members
Houndoom could mirror Charizard in terms of backstory, so that isn't farfetch'd.
I love the idea you had with Ash having an Espeon and it's personality of wanting Ash's attention all for it self and even using it's powers to either push other Pokémons away from Ash or pull him closer to itself. I could also see it being mega jealous of Pikachu XD

I like Salamanca as an option. It does in face fit Ashes team. This also reminds me that Pokémon stories should always have the Pokémon have wiled personalities, to make it more fun.

I feel like scizor will be a great heracross replacement since scizor and heracross are both bug type and it can show the new steel type with houndoom showing the new dark type

One thing I'd suggest if you want to make Sinnoh a bit easier, more recent versions of Dawn feature her with Turtwig (Masters specifically), so if you wanted to, Ash could easily get Empoleon while Dawn gets the Turtwig. (Although there's no shortage of Water types in Sinnoh, and you're more likely to struggle with other starter types, I'm pretty sure Rotom is the only non legendary Fire Mon outside of magmortar which he already had and the excluded Infernape.)
Oooo interesting idea! I'll definitely have to think about that. I'm already writing the teams out for part two now, so this is good to think on.

Espeon can also be a counterpart to Gary’s umbreon
For where Eevee would evolve yeah fair but I’d imagine that since we’re kind of getting closer to the cusp of AG Ash He might be counting on Eevee’s Speed a vision to wear out Chuck’s Pokémon and then go in for a kill blow (Not literally of course) But Chuck would start to get around that or outpaced the speed and ship damage until it evolves immediately learns confusion
I would've given Ash a Gardevior for his hoenn team the team you assembled is great but nobody has given Ash a Pokémon like this on a hypothetical new team because feminine Pokémon are often reserved for the female traveling companies but since nether May or Max caught one I think would okay to give to Ash in terms of her dynamic on the team would be that of a carrying big sister and also a protector much like Sarmpert

Instead of falling asleep, with Rhydon being potentially very head-strong and not wanting to listen to Ash. It may have used Take Down too late into a battle and k-oed itself.

What if A Character from Pokemon never existed? Like Brock or Misty, Or May or Dawn Or Serena or Iris.
How would this impact the series?

All with Pikachu. Kanto- Rapidash, Dewong, Vilemplume, Machoke(maybe evolution after Kanto) and Fearow( one Sperow befreends Ash). Johto- Espeon, Azumarill, Ampharos(would be could have another electric besides Pikachu), Smarkory and Hitmontop. Hoenn- Camerupt, Altaria, Swampert, Breeloon and Armaldo
imo Rhydon could be the ace of his Kanto team. Then for his fire type, I’d give him an Eevee to evolve into Flareon. He would carry it to Johto for a long time, but eventually would either box him or release him and catch a Slugma. This Slugma would be the Phanpy of this region, following him to Hoenn, where it’d evolve into Magcargo
With Flareon, I think it would be too much to also give him Espeon and Houndoom. So I thought of giving him the forementioned Sneasel and Ledian instead

I was actually inspired by this video and I’m making my own version of what your doing here with ash’s team, and I had ash catch a spearow as his first pokemon, as it would be one of the spearows that ash and pikachu encounter, and it somewhat follows ash like ash’s krokorok

I'm sorry but Fearow instead of farfetched makes way more sense. Could have been the spearow from the beginning. Also, Ash prefers speed usually and the teams need more. Great video though. Just some things I think would be cool. Not dogging on the video lol

Some weird choices, but also a number of great choices. I would probably slot in an Oddish in Bulbasaur’s place, personally. A spunky little Oddish that *tries* to be a village protector but can’t really manage because it’s not very strong. Though I do like the thought of Ash’s Grass type evolving early to promote a new generation, so I think it would evolve into Bellossom, so that way, it could still be the mediator Bulbasaur was, just being a lot friendlier while doing it.
I also think Spearow to Fearow would be a good alternate to Pidgeotto/Pidgeot, where after that initial battle, Ash catches the Spearow that started it all to show he won in the end. They’d maybe butt heads, but Ash would do his best to protect Spearow and in turn they would finally become buddies.
No real changes for the Johto team. And I don’t think Houndoom is a controversial pick at all, I remember people thinking Ash catching the Houndour from the Houndour episode was a good idea, so I think it works well.
Only real change I would consider for the Hoenn team is Spheal to Walrein over Swampert. This one is just bias because I love Spheal, it’s a cute little round friend. Swampert is a great choice as is, and definitely fits better overall. Don’t really have any story ideas there, again, I just like Spheal.

To be honest it’s a tiny bit unconventional but I can see hounddoom on an Ash team A lot of more than say the more sinister looking dark types

I can see Espeon and Houndoom having rivalries with Will's Xatu and Karen's Umbreon from the Johto Elite 4.
Will being an intermediate rival for Ash would work since he's based of the Juggler class who switch mons mid-fight.
Karen would be the surprise league rival (from Celadon) since her game team are of mons found in that area.
It would be cool to see Karen win the League and climb the ranks to retire Lorelei. Will does this to Agatha in HGSS.
Or maybe Karen forges her own Elite 4 since Johto in the anime is in Mount Silver, not the Indigo Plateau.
Kinda fitting. Lance from Blackthorn ruling over Kanto while Karen from Celadon ruling over Johto.
It would make the gender ratio of Champions in the Masters 8 tournament be fitting - 4 males and 4 females.
Without Noctowl and Swellow, Ash would have to find new creative ways to pop off Team Rocket's balloon, I love it.

I did consider that! However I ended up treating him closer to a Snorlax equivalent more than anything.

These were all very interesting teams and here’s what I think An AU ash team would be Kanto 1, Pikachu can’t have Any other than Pikachu 2, Spearow/ Fearow so Have Ash catch the Spearow he angered instead of Pidgeotto 3, Tangala 4, CuBone / Marowak Have the Cutbone story been done and This be helping Ash with Rasing Pokemon 5, Magmar 6, Psyduck/ Duck extra Beedrill replacing ButterFree Johto team 1, Pikachu 2, Wooper/ Quagsire 3, Eevee / Espeon 4, shiny Skarmory so he still shows off the Shiny Pokemon 5,:Houndour/ Houndoom 6, Egg Tyrogue / Hitmontop Hoenn team 1, Pikachu 2, Shroomish / Burlom 3, Mudkip/ Marstomp/ Swampert new Starter ace 4, Numel/ Camerupt 5, Absol i can see Ash helping one who is being blamed by People for Causing disasters ash gains it Trust and it joins his team 6, Bagon/ Shellgon/ Salamence His first Psudolegendary also Tangala evolves into Tangagrowth during Battle Frontier.
Gary also has Hound oom also what about Orange Islands

The whole misty gets tortodile thing. Ash gets a wooper thing is done to death. In my opinion, ash have all 3 starters. Misty the gym winner, so she doesn't even need a starter. But in conclusion, misty should have a wooper. And to be honest, that's my only gripe. With the vif you want to apply to this comment you can.😊😊
