Premiere Insert Clip Between 2 Clips FAST - Super Simple Tutorial

- This tutorial shows you how to perfectly insert a video clip between 2 clips in Premiere Pro without having to move them or overwriting them by accident! It's super simple using this keyboard shortcut inside of Premiere Pro.
Use CTRL+SHIFT to insert the clip without cutting or splitting other tracks (CTRL alone caused my voice-over to split and shift). Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the tip!
THANKS!! I was just loking for this :)
omg thank you so much for making this video. The amount of times I've had to search how to do something and 10-20 minutes later I find something somewhat helpful. Your video was straight to the point and extremely helpful.
WOWZA! So much easier than I thought it would be! Thank you for this vid :)
Is there any reason (some setting selected) why this wouldn't be working? I have Premier Pro 2023 on mac, the white arrows appear but still overwrite the clips... thanks!
I'm having a similar problem but it's cutting the full audio (music) track into separate pieces and pushing it to the right 🥲
:')@@77AlexS
but why does it cut the music at the same time, how do I do it without cropping the music?
You could unlink the video from the audio first. This will make the video act independently
@@creativechristianmusicmini6516 There's no option to unlink the music from the video :(
I have this same question. I'm editing a music video so the audio isn't linked, can't unlink it when it's not linked to begin with :-(
Only way I found is to lock the audio first. I would like to know if there is any other way as well.
@@Bageenajr that's what I do. I asked in the help filmora chat and that's what they told me to do.
awesome
Amazing. Coming from FCP this is a no-brainer. I was wondering about this... as I have to edit in PP today 🙂
Thanks so much! Cheers from LA.
lifesafer, and its so easy but i never knew :D
Thank you so much ! I love your energy too, you give such good vibes, it makes the tutorial three times better :)
Oh man thanks! Appreciate the complement and glad it helped!
Doesn't work.
When dropping a long clip from Project panel is there an option to so that it drops in the timeline without overwriting clips "in it's way" and just clips itself short to fit in the gap it was dropped in to?
AWESOME!!! Cannot believe I didnt know about this before, nice work!
crazy how you can use pp for years and STILL learn new things. Glad it helped!
Hi, I tried this and it worked for one or two clips but then started to overwrite the next clip instead of moving everything up the timeline, and I see from your video the same thing happens in your demo - at least that's what it looks like. But how do you insert without overwriting the next clip?
Why does this not always work? Sometimes it will only move the 1st video and audio track but leave all of the other audio tracks in the same spot mixed into the new clips sound. I did exactly like the video said but it still not working correctly.
I had to turn my vpn on and get here just to say thanks man. I was ready to breakup after discovering that I messed up a timeline that I edited for like 4 days
Thanks bro love u, i dont find that in spanish
so glad!
Thank god had to google for a moment to find this. Geeze
You sir are AWWWWWWWESOME!!!!
🎉
what about inserting just the video? is that possible?
Thank you this is FANTASTIC!
When I try to do it, it leaves spaces in between once I move it
Thanks so much! Getting back into editing and haven't touched premier pro in about a year and forgot all the shortcuts
I know that feeling! Glad this helped!
Thank you!!!! No more marking a massive piece of timeline, moving it, inserting the other moved piece, ripple, ripple, done. Thank you and I subscribed.
nice man
✌
How do you get the black highlight to show that marks the boundaries of clips as your moving a clip over the timeline?
Perfect Thanks!
Looked everywhere for this...THANK YOU!
Dude so good advice, but i think that be better as a short form video and gain more exposure
but anyway i aprecciate that u giving advice to creators without worriing too much to monetize it
but i think that this video is rly worth monetizing:)

I’m guilty of doing that… this saves sooo much time. Thanks for the tip.
Btw you don’t need to press alt + delete to delete the clip.
Delete just works fine.
YAY - thanks
Very helpful, great presentation - thanks!
Thank-you!
Thanks man.
Big thanks for the editing life saving tip as had a total brain fart in figuring this out
Thx so much for sharing this!!!
So welcome!
Hi! When I try doing the command short cut, it does move my clip, but my green audio file end up getting cut and moves over quite a bit to the right.. any way to bypass this? Thanks!
You could double check the linked selection button is active! Don't know if that'll fix it, but there's a chance.
Exactly what I was looking for!
You are the MAN!
