The trans community doesn't receive any tangible gain, they get a small moral victory over anti-trans people, but it doesn't help them with housing or other problems they cite. It's quite literally a virtue signal. One that infringes on a fundamental right. It's not even a stepping stone despite how much the bill's proponents try to say it is; it doesn't open up any doors to improve trans rights, it just creates more dissent towards them because the country has sacrificed freedom of speech for one group of people. People say it's about respect, but you can't force someone to respect you. If people are mandated into calling trans people by their chosen pronouns, how do you know if they genuinely respect trans people? Or they're just superficially behaving like that because they're afraid of the consequences of doing otherwise? The simple answer is that you no longer can: how can you tell someone is genuinely respecting trans pronouns if the consequence of doing otherwise PREVENTS them from doing otherwise in the first place?
