  • Crock Pot APPLE SAUCE & Overnight APPLE BUTTER
    10 pounds (approximately 20) APPLES, cored, peeled and chopped (I used a variety of GALA, FUJI, HONEY CRISP, GRANNY SMITH
    1 to 2 Teaspoons CINNAMON
    1/2 teaspoon SALT
    1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon NUTMEG
    1/4 teaspoon ground GINGER
    2 cups APPLE CIDER
    1/4 cup LEMON JUICE
    Place chopped apples into a crock pot. Mix all other ingredients and pour over the apples. Cover and cook on high for 2 to 3 hours. Mash with a potato masher, blender, food processor or emersion blender like I did. At this point it is APPLE SAUCE. Steal and jar any amount you want then replace cover and turn on low for 10 hours overnight. The apple sauce will condense and caramelize to become APPLE BUTTER.
    Place in sterilized jars. Clean rims and put a lid and twist top to finger tight. Water bathe for 20 minutes. Makes approximately 12 half pint jars.

    You are a hoot and a half! 🤣😂 I know there's never a dull moment at your house, I love your sense of humor. I love me some Apple butter on a hot buttered homemade biscuit, don't be giving me none of them " whop " biscuits! ( canned biscuits- I call them whop biscuits cause you have to whop the can on the counter top to get them open). I also love Pear Honey my mom use to make it! I love watching you cook, and listening to your stories, it keeps me laughing! You are such a blessing. God bless you and keep the videos coming!

    Sticker shock!😳Oh my goodness don't eat stickers ,my friends. Amy,Amy it was Snow White that ate a poisoned apple,the Wicked Stepmother dipped it in poison,Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger on a poisoned spindle...I loved fairy tales as a child,as an adult I researched the old tales,especially Grimm's. They were actually written for adults,they have been adapted over and over...since Disney did so many,and there was a Snow White series on Tv several years ago. Just thought I'd share that. I love to cook apples....so good and good for you.💞from KY.

    What a great recipe. A must try!!! We used to make apple butter every year in a big copper kettle. The whole family came and spent all day stirring. My husband made our wood stirrer. Such great memories. We made a big pot of soup and everyone munched and stirred all day.

    FYI: those apple votes and skins are fine to give to our feathered friends. The cyanide is not harmful to them. Also ya could mix filtered water; 1cup to 1Tble of sugar in a jar and soak those cores. Make ya some home made vinegar😊

    Just one more interesting note...the tales either folk or "fairy" go back thousands of years to the bronze age even,the Beauty and the Beast being one. Told as moral lessons long before written languages. Maybe the poison in apples was known and it was told in a tale so it would be passed to others. So interesting how we tell and retell our families guides to live by. And how things were finally passed by writing them down...kind of like recipes to live by. Orally telling stories is one of our oldest communications...so you keep right on sharing😊.

    • @amyslouisianakitchen
      @amyslouisianakitchen  2 роки тому +1

      Yes my boys actually learned that in school and the fairy tales were much scarier than they are told today. Kind of cleaned up so to speak😅it was very interesting to me when I was helping them study in school how some of those stories played out.

    Good morning Amy , that looks delicious, just love this time of year, weather cooling down and celebrating the harvest. “Straddling the dishwater” good stuff. Like all the different canning jars, a few years back, local stores out here had Green quart jars real cheap, 6 pack for about $3 , bought lots, been using, and just noticed they said” Ball-celebrating 100 years of canning, 1915 to 1916, imagine the poor person whose job it was to set up the lettering for the glass molds!( should have said 2016), wonder if you got any of these, may be a collectors item one day.
