At number 5, if you then go to that areas Big Tree for more juice maybe grab the map peice beforehand. There's also another grave yard kinda close. Then make your way to the near by elevator to the underground river bed. The enemies down there hit like a truck but are pretty slow. It would probably add 5 to 10 minutes. But you'd have that many more runes, some cool weapons, amd more smithing stuff
Great video, if you’re a new player this is the best video for starting the game bar none. I’m sure even Souls game vets found this to be very useful as well. Thanks for this great content.
just a heads up for those that don't know, the glowing skulls on the ground, you can roll over them or ride the horse over them and often times they have golden runes in them
To save runes, after you first get your mount when resting, if you fast travel back to the Church of Ellah there will be a phantom witch you can talk to who will give you the wolf spirits and the bell for free.
@@KevlarCurt Doesn't have to be night, if you fast travel back to the Church of Ellah the time will be automatically set to night regardless of what time it was before you fast traveled.
@@aedanhadley And is there a reason you have to drop lore info on a video for beginning players that wouldn't know this information? Sure the game has been out for a while but there really isn't any need to explain what's going on there as it is irrelevant to the comment and adds nothing to it.
Not sure if this is helpful but at 1:00 - Grab the WHETSTONE KNIFE from the cellar in the soldiers fort/ruins (will allow you to apply Ashes of War to your weapons. You may want to wait until you have the SPIRIT WOLF summons, so they can distract the guards while you run down the stairs and get it) 1:11 - After getting your horse activate the Grace Point and rest until Nightfall. Teleport back to the Church of Elleh (where the Santa Merchant is) when you arrive Ranni the Witch will be sitting on a wall in front of you, talk to her and she will give you the SUMMONING BELL and SPIRIT WOLF summons. 1:20 - As you approach the bridge, kill the Ball-Beetle for the ASH OF WAR - DETERMINATION. Just as you cross the bridge, head SOUTH and jump over the rocks for a SOMBRE SMITHING STONE [1] 2:54 - After you grab the Smithing Stone from the Jelly graveyard, head EAST up the hill to another Jelly Graveyard and grab the GODRICK SOLDIERS summons 3:48 - Head NORTH instead. Drop down into enemy camp and sneak through the bushes to an enemy sitting in front of a chest. Loot that chest for BEAST CREST HEATER SHIELD. Then quickly ride out to the WEST, when the wolves ambush drops look to your left for a LOST GRACE POINT, grab that and enter the shack to talk to the Warmaster. He sells lots of ASHES OF WAR. Head directly NORTH until you touch the gigantic stone column, then turn and ride SOUTH-EAST, stop at the cliff edge, you'll be above the camp where you just got the shield. Jump onto the ruins roof from here to loot the LANCE from the corpse. Drop down and resume EAST to the bridge. 4:23 - From the tombs, look SOUTH. On top of the arching ruins is a npc. Talk to him, its Lord Haight, he wants his Fort back. Accept his quest, if you ever kill the boss in Fort Haight, come back to him for a reward, the ERDSTEEL DAGGER. 5:48 - Before taking the side path to the right, head around the bend to the left a little, kill the Ball-Beetle for the ASH OF WAR - WILD STRIKES 10:00 - To get to Cliffbottom Catacombs, head NORTH down the path from the Church of Irith. Ride NORTH through the enemy camp, picking up the GLINTSTONE RECIPIE on your way. A little further NORTH is a LOST GRACE POINT, grab that and a little further NORTH is a merchant, buy the LANTERN. Ride directly EAST to the cliff and use the Springjump to get up top. Grab another LOST GRACE POINT then ride SOUTH along the road, sneak around the Troll and loot the carriage for the TREESPEAR. Teleport back to that Grace Point you just got and ride NORTH along the road, through the enemies, until you get to another LOST GRACE POINT, grab that but before you ride EAST to the Guide Statue, look to the NORTH-WEST, see the small ruined tower on the cliff? race up there and climb up to grab another GLINTSTONE RECIPIE and the CARIAN GLINTBLADE STAFF, return to the Guide Statue near that last Grace Point, he will point to the Cliffbottom Catacombs down the south path. Before you enter the Catacomb, go SOUTH a little more and grab the SOMBRE SMITHING STONE [2]
This guide was perfect. This is my first souls game and I followed this guide to the letter. Bosses I was getting wrecked by suddenly found themselves getting wrecked. Thank you so much
Tip for true newbies that are playing a strength type fighter, after doing what's in the vid, everything you need gear wise is right in that first ruin near where you got the horse, gatefront ruins. The enemies in it random drop weapons, the best shield for a long time and every piece of armor you'll need, I'm still using the armor at level 50. The captain in it is the target for heavy armor and the soldiers the medium armor. The brass shield is the best shield stat wise for a long time. They also drop smithing stones, bow ammo and in the ruins basement is a critical item. Farm this place getting used to the controls and how to fight, that's what I was doing, and you'll be set for quite awhile.
@@EvilWaterman yes. the enemies which use the brass shield are the ones that drop it. The guys with spears also have a different kind of shield (a heavier one). Basically, whatever weapon/shield they use I think they have a chance of dropping.
At Point "15" in the route you can find a pink boat boss that's rather easy to do. You get cool self-reviving skeleton spirits if you defeat him. I found them to be very stylish and exceptionally good against these big flowers.
I'm finding the skeleton spirits the most useful I've found so far as they revive after they die. Currently I don't need the summons to do damage for me, just to distract the boss. The wolves and jellyfish both die too quickly for this, whereas the skeletons respawn indefinitely unless they're hit mid-respawn animation.
Just a quick tip, you can actually get the summon bell and wolf summon for free if you go back to the the first church with the merchant after you talk to marina and get your horse. There will be a lady that you can talk to and she gives it to you. Edit: It also needs to be night time
Skip the weapon upgrade. If you’re already at lake of Liurnia just ride torrent into the temple quarter and grab a pretty decent early game weapon called icerind hatchet. It’s required stats are low and it has a pretty neat ability. It also gives a frost ailment to your swing. Do that instead. It’s stronger than that +4 most likely. You have to fight nothing, though you will have to run past enemies. It’s just sitting there in a chest.
Great guide, but here's a recommended path update that just requires around 1 extra minute: GLOWING SKULLS: May sound stupid, but this can quickly add up if you simply pay attention while doing this tutorial. In the open world there are white Glowing Skulls scattered around, and they actually seem to respawn at random locations from time to time. Hitting them or simply stepping on them with Torrent will break those skulls, revealing a Golden Rune [1]. These net 200 runes a piece when used, and you can actually find many of those during your travels, so when going between steps, just detour for a second to break nearby skulls you find and hit the collect button. STEP 1.5 (timestamp 0:45): Before getting the map on STEP 2, activate the Gatefront Grace right at the NW of that soldier camp at the side of the giant gate (activate this Grace first, then go down the road through the camp, picking the map on your way and continuing to the other Grace). STEP 5.5: Generally it'll be nighttime (or pretty close) when you're doing STEP 5. now teleport back to the Elleh Church Grace (STEP 1). If it isn't nighttime yet, just rest there until nighttime. Witch Renna should appear around and give you Spirit Calling Bell key item plus the Wolf Spirit summon for free, saving you a few thousand runes later at the round table. Then tp to the Gatefront Grace (the one you got on Step 1.5) and proceed. With the summon, is easier to carve through the canyon if you are so inclined. STEP 8.5 (timestamp 2:48): Also, as recommended already, once you get the smithing stone in the jellyfish area, instead of TP'ing back to the stormhill shelter ride back hugging the ridge wall to your left. You'll see another group of Jellyfishes there, a couple of them glowing bright red so use those as beacons. You can find the Godrick Soldier Ashes there near the upmost grave, nab it and keep running back to the shelter. You get only two soldiers opposed to the wolf trio, but they tend to be more tanky. STEP 12.5 (timestamp 3:31): After breaking the statue and getting the smithing runes, go North instead and activate the Warlord Shack Grace. You'll eventually want to come back there to purchase skills or for other reasons. You can then follow the path East to proceed. STEP 17.25 (timestamp 5:30): After dealing with all operations at the Third Church of Marika, go to the back of the church (to the north); there's a pond there (don't go uphill, is at the same level as the church) and at it's northern corner you'll find a Teleporter hidden between the bushes (you should see some bluish "gusts of wind" being dragged by the teleporter when close). Use the teleporter and you'll end at the Beast Sanctuary. Go down the steps and you should immediately notice another glowing tree next to the road, with it's respective Golden Seed. Stick to the road (there are some enemies hidden in the bushes if you go offroad), grab the seed and follow the path further down until you reach the next Grace right before the bridge. Note that once you have 6 flasks, next upgrades costs more Golden Seeds, so depending on whether you picked a Golden Seed as your starting gift you may have no immediate use for this one. STEP 17.75 (timestamp 5:53): Once back at the Stormhill shack, passing the "creepy lady" and dropping down from the broken bridge, you should notice (and hear) one of those dung beetles to your right mere metres away from your path, so it takes few seconds to kill. This one holds the storm wall skill (for shields). ***** OPTIONAL CONTENT***** These steps involve either taking a decent detour, or engaging active combat. OPTIONAL 2.5 (timestamp 0:55): In the middle of the soldier camp (next to where the soldiers and wolves/hounds are) there are some stairs down leading to a basement, inside there's a chest with a Weapon Skill and the Whestone Knife key item to swap gear skills. OPTIONAL 3.5 (timestamp 1:00) After getting Torrent at the Grace, go straight SW and drop to the swampy area (might need to go more to the south then backtrack north as the fall at the northmost point is large). There's a small mine dungeon (a small "cave" is actually shown in the main map) at the northmost tip of the lake area itself there you can get a bunch of tier 1 smithing stones from (along with a couple other goodies), generally enough to upgrade a second weapon to at least +2, plus a couple spares. The miners can also be farmed for stones. Miners are resistant to slashing/piercing, so bring a blunt weapon if able to. OPTIONAL 13.5/14.5 (timestamp 3:54): As some people recommended, Tidal Mariner world boss is fairly easy to beat and holds an useful spirit, the Skeletal Militiaman Ashes (couple of squishy skellies that respawn indefinitely unless hit during the spawn animation). From the Saintsbridge Grace (step 13) or the merchant past the bridge (step 14), just follow the road and you'll reach the flooded village boss is located. There's a grace near the village. OPTIONAL 19.5 (timestamp 6:05): After picking the tear in the church, instead of returning back to the earlier Grace simply follow the road north and through the canyon leading to an enemy campsite you can simply ignore by going through one if its sides. After the campsite you should see another Grace downhill, near a campfire. There's a merchant on that campfire that sells the Lantern (a hands-free light source; sheds less light than the torch but you can attach or remove it from your belt at will) plus the Astrologer gear, including the staff (possibly first caster staff your character will have access to if you picked a non-caster class). You can then use the nearby Grace to proceed. EDIT: Added Glowing Skulls, steps (8.5, split 17.5 into 17.25 and 17.75), timestamps, optional content (2.5, 3.5, 13.5/14.5, 19.5) and some wording.
@@TruTube.1. dude, the spirit calling bell is one of the most important things to pick up in this game. If you just follow the video, you won't get it.
You don't need to buy the summoning belt or the wolves after talking to your fire maiden the first time and getting the horse, go back to the first church, Church of Elleh with the merchant at night and talk to the npc who appears there to get the bell and wolves for free.
Fast traveling back to church of elleh after getting the horse triggers that npc to show up regardless of time of day (It will turn to night automatically). Ive tested it on multiple characters, normally going there at night or passing time at the site is not enough. The trigger is loading into the church. Dying after resting here triggers it too
I had 6 hrs on my first character and was so defeated and frustrated. With this guide im further ahead in 30min with my new character! Makes the game much less defeating and frustrating! Thanks ( First Souls Game)
After buying bloodborne -installing-playing 3 hours - dying 300 times- unistalling the game- selling it the same day, then, when it went free on ps+, repeated the same sequence, until the uninstall part... then, 2 years later, I decided to give it a go, by first watching a few tutorials... but still repeating the phase 1 and phase 2... ...I promised I would never play a game like that again. Ever. But then, elden was released.. and with all those 9.5s and 10s, and with 0 microtransactions, I decided to give it a go. Because now, if I don't want to fight a boss, I can easily skip it, and come back later ! Still, I played like 6 hours, killed a few enemies, and was able to reach level 17. But every time i would come across a mob slightly more powerful than me , I would die..die...die... At that pace, I would play it for over 50 hours, barely leveling up, and without killing a single boss ! Then, I've found this tutorial... and already did everything excepting buying the wolf ghost summon thing, almost at the end of the video. Instead of leveling up my lev1 sword, Iwill watch another video, to grab 2 or 3 weapons, like the whip, add some fire/ ice to it, then, will watch another video, to get some cool armors. Once I've done all that, I will be ready to play elden rings and kill all those bosses, hopefully, with 99% fun and 1% frustration/pain/anxiety/, instead of the opposite (1% fun/ 99% frustration...) Because... I not a S/M 😉 I'm generally quite skilled... but no matter how skilled we are, if our weapon only inflicts 0.1% damage, and a simple enemy can basically 1-hit kill us... is it worth it, spending 800 hours on the game...?
You're supposed to just explore and find less challenging content instead of spoiling yourself with stupid videos like this one. The developers of this game trusted that the players would have the intelligence to simply go somewhere else instead of beating their head against a brick wall for hours.
@@ErinRichardsonArtUK Do you actually think looking up a guide is the intended way to play the game? Assuming the answer is no, do you then believe that Fromsoft didn't design the beginning of the game in such a way that the player could find appropriate level content with a little exploration? Elden Ring is about ADVENTURE, but it's not an adventure if you're being led around by a UA-cam video.
This has so far been the most helpful video for a good start to this game, i just started a new character and ran through this, admittedly i needed up killing a few wolves, and a solider dude here and there, because of random timing, but it was pretty much exactly this easy. Amazing work, no real exploits, no game breaking character killing, perfectly done sir. I will probably start every character this way from now on.
Another Tip: Behind the lost Church there is a thing to teleport with, you will spawn behind some strong enemy so just use your Horse and run down the hill, there you should find another Golden seed and a lost grace near the bridge.
This took me some time to find as i was not sure which church you meant. It's number 17, the Third Church of Marika. And the portal behind the church is into the river in the trees on the right (away from the bear). The area this takes you to, when you get to the lost grace by the bridge is an insane grinding place. The dudes here (to the area on the right when facing the bridge) are relatively easy to kill and give just over a 1000 each. With 4 in the local area you can grind 4000 in about 5 minutes by killing them from the horse. If you die, it's short run back.
That’s also apart of a quest. There’s an undead village with a boat based boss and a nearby NPC who says to not go there. If you you kill the boss and go to Roundtable, the NPC will be there and can be shown one of the boss’s drops. He’ll then mark this portal on your map.

I'm on the same boat. Probably open-world game problem, we don't know what to do next after a while. Meanwhile, in sekiro, you've just follow the instruction, then focus on the combat, instead of lengthy wandering, exploring.
I have 20 hours and im already trough more than 2 thirds of the game. The biggest tip i can give is to have any status effect on your weapon, like bleed or frost. You do almost no dmg without status effects, but it's also important to have patience, determination and to not give up. Oh yeah avoid Caelid as much as possible.
Man this walkthrough really helped a ton. After completing it I've been breezing through the bosses with a samurai build. There is a helpful boss map online I recommend that will save you hours and help you finish the game even defeating ever boss in the game. This walkthrough really gave me a catapulted start to this game. I was watching someone else's video earlier and was getting nowhere. This is how gaming videos should be.
I use this guide to start off every toon right. Thanks for making this guide. A few additions; after getting the Flask of Wondrous Physick, it shouldn't hurt to go south to grab two more tears from the Minor Erdtree, and another Golden Seed from near the Fort Haight West grace site. Also, as you're approaching the third grave cluster, short beeline south gets you to the Artist's Shack grace site with a Smithing Stone (2).
Let me add to this: once you do the last part head to sellia crystal tunnels north east in Liurina of the lakes. You will get a bunch of smithing stones 2, 3, and somber smithing stones, along with a miners bell bearing that you can give to the twin maidens to buy rank 1 and 2 smithing stones. This will allow you to get a plus 9 weapon easily.
@@PrymeKut haha I think blunt weapons or maybe magic would be a good match for the sellia crystal tunnels, I was using +4 slash and literally ended up switching 2hand greatshield to take out the miners lol, although those insect things are more the issue still haven't dropped fallenstar beast lol, gl out there brotha!
My main ammendment here is to travel back to that first church as soon as you get the horse so you do not miss the Renna spawn; saving you all those runes for the spirit stuff.
As someone who's never played a souls game, i was worried about getting wrecked at the start and getting turned off the game. This is exactly what i was looking for. Best starting guide out there. Deserved sub.
This is the type of "overpowered" I absolutely love for this type of game, not so much to the level like speedrunners use in their insane runs, but just good enough to help new players turning a crushing struggle into a fun and challenging early journey.
I want to look at this but I don't want to ruin the game for myself by spoiling the exploration. I'm still playing Horizon 2 right now. Elden Ring is going to have a hard time beating it in my opinion. The few minutes I have played looked and felt much worse.

Awesome video. Being a Dark Souls veteran this game is so much more massive. Character creation and overpowering your character is essential for these types of games. Even though I have beaten a Dark Souls game I got scared and overwhelmed when I jumped into this game. But I also got overwhelmed with excitement just seeing how this game is everything I wanted a Dark Souls game to be.

I know part of the charm of this game is discovering things on your own but my god its so much more fun with a guide. So far, I had 3 playthroughs. First one was me just learning the basics (ER is my first FromSoft game) and being completely clueless. I didn't know what to do, where to go and I was totally lost. That one lasted about an hour. My second playtrhough was better, but I was still lost. I followed a really short guide which only covered the merchant, Torrent, leveling, map fragments and the girl that gives you the jellyfish. I eventually found my way to the Roundtable Hold and almost fought Godrick, but since I couldn't even defeat the Tree Sentinel, Godrick was a big no no. After that, I had no idea what to do and was once again lost, so I gave up on this one as well. So far, the third playthrough is the best. I followed this guide and some tips from the comments and now I'm finally not lost. So to everyone who feels like they're lost and don't know what to do next, just follow this guide and your ER experience will be so much better.
I am already far ahead in the game, but this video is really well put together. You can get the spirit summon and wolves even early by talking to merchant at church of Ellen, getting your mount and fast travelling back to it at night. (You talk to a new NPC and she gives you those items)
@@korybutler60 you have to equip the spirits in equipment and use them like a flask. Have to have an arch symbol on the left hand side of the screen to use them, which is pretty hit or miss

For part 12 to 13. Where do you go?? There’s a giant cliff with the koolaid man telling me he’s stuck. But idk if that’s where I’m supposed to be going
ONE THING TO CHANGE: Do NOT BUY the summoning bell and wolves from the couple at the round table. After you receive Torrent, you can travel back to the Church of Ellen and there is an NPC (other than the shop npc) there that will give you both for free!
@@GrandMasterDerp that is true, but it dont have to be night. all you need to do is to respawn at the grace or teleport to it and it will auto trigger the night
you did great with this walk through! my only issue is you never show how you got to the bottomless catacombs which is nowhere near the marker on your map
2:07 from here go EAST, and you can avoid the wolf ambush and gain SMITHING STONES from a circle of statues. Then head north, around the giant rock/ cliffside, and you’ll find a shack which is the next check point.
This is great because it doesn’t only get you items and money, but a better understanding of the game for beginners! I didn’t even know how to use the map before this :)
From my experience with Dark Souls Remastered and Bloodborne, being OP early is good, but knowledge of what enemies are around and where they are at makes it easier rather than the combat against them. Thank you for the information, I look forward to knowing more about armor and weapons locations.
@@ridethasno just don't give up. Don't get greedy when attacking, know how to dodge ( some enemies attacks you need to roll into the attack to not get hit) and know when to heal. Best of luck to you with Elden Ring.

Awesome guide, really helpfult, thx! Just one important thing to add: If you go immediately back to the church at night, after getting Torrent (horse), you meet an NPC that gives you the cummoning bell and the wolfs for free.
While going down towards spot 13, you can veer to the left up into an open field under a bridge and in the back is a talisman to increase dmg on horseback, and I've found it to be extremely useful, same with starting off with the imp ashes since they apply bleed and are great for bosses
This should be everyone's start for Elder Ring. It took me about 3 hours to do all of this at the beginning. First ever dark souls style game I've played so I died a lot in between tasks. But overall I'm now feeling more prepared and ready then I was before I did this. Amazing work figuring this all out man... thank you! Edit: I definitely recommend doing the extra credit tasks he gave at the end... you might as well after doing all the other things.
I finally did this tonight, after getting the game this weekend and not knowing where or how to start. The "15/20" minutes is misleading, as it took me 3 hours last night before realizing I F'd up right before the Round Table room by not grabbing the tear right before. So I had to repeat the whole thing again tonight for another 2+ hours!! But at least I'm now at LV 18 and ready to actually start the game!
This video is so helpful for starting out. Since I'm a samurai I rely heavily on either blitzing the enemy or dodging so having a +4 Uchigatana right out the gate really helps
The descriptive details of this guide are legendary. I have like 2 hours played and I can't count how much I've died. Needed a tiny bit of guidance to get me going. Thanks 🤙🏻
Lol new to souls series? Tbh this game wasn't even that brutal. In Bloodborne one had to kill and extremely strong versatile boss who you'd have to memorize his attack to kill and dodge accordingly as two shot would.kill us lol if they did that here most would ik for sure hundreds of gamers would have quit the game

This is a great guide, lol I used this run to make 4 characters, I always use the 1st bonus, but not the 2nd. A couple of things to mention is to get the green turtle talisman for melee weapon users near the boat boss. The spirit wolves and bell are actually freely given after you get the horse, the person giving you these is near kale at nighttime. There is an armor set that isn't too crazy to get called carion knight armor in the academy, this can be gotten without killing anything also. When doing this run you need to steal the key from a dragon. There is also a portal you can find to teleport straight to the academy gate. On the way to the dragon you can get 3 more level 2 stones inside one of those stone structures with a human sized statue in the middle, this will let you +5 your weapon.

Adding to this, from point 3 you can go south to the lake and at the northwest is a mineshaft with smithing stones. You'll have to fight but you can do this after the route to get prepared for a other weapon when you choose to switch

But I didn't get smithing stone on step 4 from the corpse on the bridge but got something else is this supposed to be random ooh by the way I haven't updated the game yet...
I found that as a Sorcerer, having Torrent and being able to relentlessly cast at enemies while on horseback has made me so OP, sometimes I'm ashamed of myself for taking that advantage. LOL But I've put in a lot of years of frustration with the Souls series, I deserve this!
@@fxranger326 Its really the easiest thing I've ever experienced in a Souls game. I'm actually kind of still in bit of an awe that they allowed the programmers to do this. :D

when i cba to get off my horse i just ran around them over and over and over again just slashing at them, killed one of those tentacle octopus monstrocities like tht. took a long time cus they tanky as hell and tbh not really worth it unless the ovaries make something pretty good.
Can't believe how much I missing in the first 10 hours playing. I still used this guide to go back and lvl up my character so this is very useful even if you're not watching before starting. I actually had not yet found the flask of wonderful physics or the spirit calling bell lol... Gotta say the ash spirits really help in boss fights, would've made Margit a whole lot easier.
You have saved me greatly! I followed your guide while painstakingly and carefully farming all the common enemies that i could and i managed to scrounge up an additional 12000 runes, although i did have to rescue my runes a couple of when I was killed. Totally worth it, although instead of taking 20 to 30 minutes, it actually took me about 7 hours... But at least now everything is just slightly more enjoyable! Thanks man!
Thanks for posting this video. For a new player though the inventory system is beyond confusing , no info on how to slot quick items, Jellyfish hasn’t been used once, I’m not gonna stop in the middle of a battle and go into my menu to activate it. Here we go again with another game like ESO where 50% of the entire game isnt explained whatsoever, we rely on UA-cam, or rather the Dev’s assume that’s how everyone learns the game without knowing anything prior. A video on how to use the inventory/items menus is probably as important as this video
In case you give up (which, realistically, you might as a newbie) : you should try Dark Souls 3 or Bloodborne first. They're equally as beautiful but less hard as nails, more like hard as icicles.
not sure if anyone has mentioned this but the camp with the map piece you mentioned there are stair going down to a chest that gives ashes and an item that allows you to put attributes or skill onto a weapon
This is honestly a must watch video for all new players. The pace in Elden Ring is all over the place. You are either grinding away against a fairly tough soldier but only get 20 runes for your troubles. Or you wonder around for 10 minutes to try to find someone a little tougher, only to get one shotted. This guide puts you right in the sweet spot of the game being tough but not soul crushing. Plus you get to see some interesting side streets along the way.
@@tylermistura5443 if you diverge from the path in this video a little, on purpose or by accident, you’ll come across some additional sites with tons of rune rings
This is a great guide without getting too into the weeds, but you should definitely add getting the two golden tree seeds outside the beast man’s sanctuary using the teleporter by the church you get the mixing flask from. From there go get the spiked Cetus from the isolated merchant(4,000 runes if you don’t already have a bleed weapon and don’t feel like hunting one down outside the route) and kill the stuck elder dragon for 70,000 souls. I always do that while starting a new character, it’s a massive early game boost to pump up your vigor and endurance making the game much easier. Bonus: if you want good heavy armor early, buy all the weapon arts from the warlord shack and then kill that guy. He isn’t important as far as we know currently and gives your character some good armor without having to farm knights endlessly.
I want to thank you, this was an immense catapult of a start. Your help along with a mage guide has ensured that I didn't spend $60 for nothing. (I would give up after the 50th death for these types of games). I don't get the thrill others get? I'm a disabled vet & the idea of being "perfect" to git gud is not possible for me. Having a ranged mage option is wonderful!
When elden ring first came out this was the first video I saw and used this exact path. I’ve 100 percent es the game many times and have beating the dlc twice… Such a great starting video especially for people who haven’t played a souls like before…
Thanks for this. Just some constructive criticism: Some of the parts (especially when you have to go down from your current height) can be incredibly confusing and a marker on the map isn't enough Some sped up footage getting from one point to the next would've been great. Even at X3 speed, it would've helped to know how you got to each part. Some of them were very difficult to decipher which way to go. You just mentioned it and the video hard cut to you already being there. A-B is fine but don''t edit the video to be at B. Show us A-B please. Otherwise, very helpful vid and I'm glad I have a leg up now.
@@totallyenormous8859 It's not that easy for some people to determine compass directions especially when you have to re-orient and determine where he exactly is. Sure, you can pause the map and figure it out from there, but there's other guide videos that show actual footage running/fast forward walking getting from point A to B. I mean, if 99 other people disagree with you.. then there's merit to what he says lol.
Yeah like the part where you go around the vendor and eventually find the tombstones...🙄 I still haven't found them but I jumped down from the cliffs to the next area he mentioned but it was very unclear where the hell the tombstones actually are.

This is a seriously amazing guide. FIRST thing I do when I make a new character is check this guide out to get a little boost. ONE thing that can be tweaked a little is adding a step for the witch NPC that appears at the first church after you get Torrent...can get the bell for free. :]
"Down there you'll see a fight breaking out between some wolves and a bear. ... But you have no quarrels with them so grab the rank 2 smithing stone and get the fudge outta there." 😂

Big tip for 100k runes within minutes. Go to the big ass dragon after teleporting to the Beast Clergyman. Run south until you hit a bunch of dragons. Get a bleed weapon. Get behind it and hit its tail until dead. 100k runes within minutes. Then, go into the castle and run past everything and loot everything. You can find Radagons soresteal fairly easily. Now you have 100k runes and one of the best Talismans in the game.
At 1:15 I highly recommend instead of heading to point 3 the video, to fast travel back to the old church where Santa dude is and a witch npc will spawn, talk to her and you’ll get for free the lone wolf ashes and the spirit calling bell, now note that to get her to spawn wait till night time and you may have to fast travel away and back maybe even wait again, BUT I got her to spawn, and she’ll talk to you you’ll just hear her voice and she’ll be sitting on the broken wall…. Dude, I've had this game a week and yesterday I decided it was so utterly frustrating, agonising and unfair that I was done with it entirely. After watching this however your simple guide has inspired me to at least try one more time to see if I can actually make any progress in this absolute nightmare of a game. Thank you so much!
The main pillar of this game is that you don't NEED to fight most things at a given time and difficulty does not scale linearly. You need to mark difficult things on your map and circle back when you're stronger. You don't have to bang your head against a wall when fighting a boss because that is all you can do in the game at this point in your playthrough. You can just leave and go explore something else that is more your speed.
This video is fantastic! For a guy like me who never known the dark souls world and coming into elden ring world was abit overwhelming. This mase such difference! Thank you 🤘🏼

Then quickly ride out to the WEST, when the wolves ambush drops look to your left for a LOST GRACE POINT, grab that and enter the shack to talk to the Warmaster. He sells lots of ASHES OF WAR. 10:00 - To get to Cliffbottom Catacombs, head NORTH down the path from the Church of Irith.
Thanks!!
Hi bud, so just keep killing to you get the shield?
@@EvilWaterman yes. the enemies which use the brass shield are the ones that drop it. The guys with spears also have a different kind of shield (a heavier one). Basically, whatever weapon/shield they use I think they have a chance of dropping.

At Point "15" in the route you can find a pink boat boss that's rather easy to do. You get cool self-reviving skeleton spirits if you defeat him. I found them to be very stylish and exceptionally good against these big flowers.

Magic spam the big flower (takes two full fp bars,) and stab the little ones
I'm finding the skeleton spirits the most useful I've found so far as they revive after they die.
Currently I don't need the summons to do damage for me, just to distract the boss. The wolves and jellyfish both die too quickly for this, whereas the skeletons respawn indefinitely unless they're hit mid-respawn animation.

It’s just sitting there in a chest.
if your doing that just buy the somber stones from iji so you can have that weapon at +4
The only thing that sucks is that I'm playing a spell blade type character, so I can't put the scholars' armament on the frost axe.
Where is this at exactly?
Where is this at exactly?
Great guide, but here's a recommended path update that just requires around 1 extra minute:
GLOWING SKULLS: May sound stupid, but this can quickly add up if you simply pay attention while doing this tutorial.
***** OPTIONAL CONTENT*****
These steps involve either taking a decent detour, or engaging active combat.

I had 6 hrs on my first character and was so defeated and frustrated. With this guide im further ahead in 30min with my new character! Makes the game much less defeating and frustrating! Thanks ( First Souls Game)
Me too bro. Glad your enjoying it
After buying bloodborne -installing-playing 3 hours - dying 300 times- unistalling the game- selling it the same day, then, when it went free on ps+, repeated the same sequence, until the uninstall part... then, 2 years later, I decided to give it a go, by first watching a few tutorials... but still repeating the phase 1 and phase 2...
...I promised I would never play a game like that again.
Once I've done all that, I will be ready to play elden rings and kill all those bosses, hopefully, with 99% fun and 1% frustration/pain/anxiety/, instead of the opposite (1% fun/ 99% frustration...)
Because... I not a S/M 😉
I'm generally quite skilled... but no matter how skilled we are, if our weapon only inflicts 0.1% damage, and a simple enemy can basically 1-hit kill us... is it worth it, spending 800 hours on the game...?
You're supposed to just explore and find less challenging content instead of spoiling yourself with stupid videos like this one. The developers of this game trusted that the players would have the intelligence to simply go somewhere else instead of beating their head against a brick wall for hours.

This helped me a tremendous amount, got me a super head start and now I'm exploring absolutely everywhere and opening the whole game
When elden ring first came out this was the first video I saw and used this exact path. I’ve 100 percent es the game many times and have beating the dlc twice…
Such a great starting video especially for people who haven’t played a souls like before…
Thanks for this.
When he say for example "from point A head south east to point B" you end up exactly where you are supposed to idk how u and 99 other people got lost
@@nwing07__ out of the 4.8 million people that saw the video, no.
@@totallyenormous8859 Your logic is based on the assumption that nobody aka 0 amount of people got lost.
nearly 110 out of 4.8m people already agree with this constructive criticism. It's a miniscule number but it breaks your logic regardless. I don't understand your point here?
This is a seriously amazing guide. FIRST thing I do when I make a new character is check this guide out to get a little boost. ONE thing that can be tweaked a little is adding a step for the witch NPC that appears at the first church after you get Torrent...can get the bell for free. :]
"Down there you'll see a fight breaking out between some wolves and a bear.
... But you have no quarrels with them so grab the rank 2 smithing stone and get the fudge outta there."
😂
I'm just now doing my first playthrough and I basically did all this just running around and already have a plus 6 weapon. Didn't know about the summon upgrade yet so thanks for that.
Now you have 100k runes and one of the best Talismans in the game.
and by 100k you mean 74-75k, Unless you're adding the amount in this vid, an that's still only around 85k souls, Sorry, """Runes"""

Me with Cheat engine 🥱🥱😎😎
🌟 All in all, one of the best early walk-throughs ever. Of any game. Well done.
Great video. I need all the help I can get in souls games and this one looks too good to pass up.
My journey following this guide wasn't even remotely close in being smooth as for this guy 😂😂😂😂
I know this is a new game and we’re figuring this stuff out as we go lol, believe me I’m still lost
Thank you for this tip
@@carlosh8502 no prob bro!
@@lgbfjb1183she won't spawn for me (I am using the grace sight to wait)
@@The-kentucky-fried-one yo.. sorry been a long time since I played this, but I remember this part and having trouble, but traveling away and returning eventually worked for me… AND I remember you I think find her up on the broken wall, like 6 ft off the ground next to the break in the wall… if you can see what I’m talking about
Dude, I've had this game a week and yesterday I decided it was so utterly frustrating, agonising and unfair that I was done with it entirely. After watching this however your simple guide has inspired me to at least try one more time to see if I can actually make any progress in this absolute nightmare of a game. Thank you so much!
and?
@@hydreigon2709 wdym and?
The main pillar of this game is that you don't NEED to fight most things at a given time and difficulty does not scale linearly. You need to mark difficult things on your map and circle back when you're stronger. You don't have to bang your head against a wall when fighting a boss because that is all you can do in the game at this point in your playthrough. You can just leave and go explore something else that is more your speed.
Yea, this game. Basically Wants you dead whenever possible
Just jumped back into elden ring after a long long break so this was super helpful and easy to follow thank you very much 😊
This video is fantastic! For a guy like me who never known the dark souls world and coming into elden ring world was abit overwhelming. This mase such difference! Thank you 🤘🏼
just wanted to drop my thanks by subscribing and telling you that this is my first time jumping into a From Software game after not liking DS1, and your guide helped me beat Margit on my first try after running my head against the wall all day on my first day.
definitely feels like you helped me take the difficulty down from soul-crushing to a more enjoyable experience.
Great video! Just followed it and yeah it really makes a big difference while playing. I am not getting destroyed every 5 seconds, now it takes 30 seconds for me to be destroyed. Thanks for the video!!!
My MAN, you are a freaking saint. I just tried this and it worked beautifully. I’ve been grinding all day trying to get my Prisoner build up to snuff and this took like half an hour. It was also WAY more fun than killing crabs by the lake for hours.
You can always run over to the third church and take that hidden portal. Enemies dropped 1k runes per kill.
@@borz8328 whats the name of that church?
wow this guys video is great, i sure hope no one at IGN steals it word for word
This is an amazing walkthrough. I sat in awe watching everything unfold because I have only just seen this video and have done everything here EXCEPT for returning to Rodericka’s original location for the seed. Bravo sir!
Thanks for this tutorial! I’ve always liked the SoulsBorne games but they kick my ass and I get frustrated and quit. This has given me enough of a slight edge that I’m much less frustrated and at least able to stay alive long enough to learn the enemy patterns and advance. Much appreciated!
This is a huge help! Thank you so much for putting the time into this starter guide. I have done some to start already but will be following this to help me get started since this is my first souls game ever!
So I've gotta ask being your first aid game do you like it so far?
I find it to be a bit easier ths ds2 n 3
@@higherlearning1013 I absolutely love it! Once I have been able to better understand mechanics the game slowed down a bit for me. I am truly enjoying the progression and gameplay!!
@@ronyarco7990 it's most definitely alot more rewarding just because it's an actual challenge unlike most games nowadays that your basically super man vs a slime if you button mash fast enough. Glad your enjoying it
@@higherlearning1013 hell nah, I'm struggling more with this game than any other soul like game
rice lmao me 2 now but was doing great killed 1st boss at stormviel castle with throwing knives n wolves now though lady luck has shined her light elsewhere for elden ring lol
Even now, months later, everytime I make a new build, I come straight for this video. Thanks for this, Alex!
quick warning! when in the castle of the rounded table don't jump from the balcony. there is a strong NPC invading your game there. I lost 11K because my char is to weak to escape the fight
Lmfaoo sounds like souls to me
If you get stuck make sure to die next to the door on the right. That way you can run down the blacksmith stairs and collect the runes through the other side of the door!
@@kurtisw4826 I wish I knew that….
Bro! Unless u need that many runes to upgrade you really shouldn't be carrying all them runes on you like that homie.
Just kill the NPC he has like 3 moves to learn
This is my first souls game and this made it much easier. For one I’m a bit leveled up now and for two I can fast travel a lot more places 😂. 👍🏻⚔️ I’m using the warrior build and using dual swords is so awesome I can take down a lot of enemy’s before they can even get a hit off. I feel like a boss….also I just beat my first boss and it wasn’t bad at all.
Bro same
Bro…I’m totally suck at this game…help me….
@@kuulin6512 same bro
@@kuulin6512 Explore weeping peninsula and a lot of other places so you can level up a bunch early game. Also grinding on early game soldiers / ruins helped me understand game mechanics and character strengths. Picking your fights and how to fight enemies is important. You can’t just go in full attack mode on multiple enemies or you’re toast.
It's not a souls game.
Best route guide … you didn’t leave us lost talking about nothing .. stayed on point the whole clip
