When I married my asawa she was 27. A lot of the requirements needed, her father and uncles help as they new people in the right places to get stuff done. I would encourage anyone getting married to a Filipina to enlist the help of the family.
The per- marriage consulting is a catholic thing. This is used to bring out topics such as children or not - finance - where they will live (in the US or in Philippines) and other important topics. It's a good thing to go through.
I LOVE Gracie because she's so honest and straight forward and wants to protect us foreigners! I will be using her for my legal advisor and attorney if needed when I come to your country.
In some parts of the US (eleven states), we have "common law marriage", where you're considered to be married if you held yourself out to the world as if you were husband and wife and cohabitated. According to my research, there is such a thing as "common law marriage" under Article 147 of the Family Code. In the future, I'd like to hear Gracey speak on common law marriage (how it arises and what the legal implications are).
I'm glad the question period during the seminars are informal. I'd prefer not to take a written test, especially with multiple choice questions about the wedding night.
You do the Pokey Hokey and you shake it all about! My dad was a Presbyterian pastor. He always required any couple to have a "Premarital Counseling" session with him before he would perform the wedding.
Great video and advice...signing a prenup is certainly necessary in this day of age because just like the ladies said, its to protect what you work hard for. If a woman refuses to sign the prenup , then no marriage..Plus at that point I wouldnt be able to help but to question her real intentions
Hello Pea you look gorgeous and another great video. We where married 4 years ago my wife had never been married before yes she had to prove that and I had to provide my divorce paperwork and regular stuff that you would expect to deal with it’s not complicated. The seminar was kinda funny to be honest. Family and friends all together we celebrated my 50th birthday and our wedding wow amazing. A good Filipino woman is worth every second they will make you a better person by far .
Yeah, Gracelyn is a very beautiful woman and definitely one of the most attractive female lawyers I've seen. Prenups should be talked about right after marriage is proposed (or even before so as not to kill the vibe). Make sure your future spouse knows that is a non-negotiable issue. Great video, Pea. Thanks for bringing Gracey on to explain things!
Two beauties in one vlog, lucky me! The yellow looks great on you Pea and thank you for bringing Gracie to share her knowledge with us. We always forget the details when we are swept up in romance, hormones and emotion but you always give us the honest truth. Take care.
No matter how hard I try I seem to be sinking into the quick sand of finding my Filipina life partner, so this video will come in quite handy when I make the mistake and take the plunge. Thank you for your efforts. Why is it a mistake you ask? Simple. I believe she deserves better than me. 😉
@@gingercat777 I’m actually pretty happy. Happier yet that the gal living with my brother the past nine years moved out. She was never happy. Always needy. They argued constantly. Both were not happy. Finally she moved out of his house. Awesome.
Great info! You can now have a notary prepare and notarize your capacity to marry. The US embassy no longer issues the "In Lieu of" document. Of course, it may be different in other regions. So happy to be here with my beautiful wife after being apart for so long!
True i am in catbalogan samar. Went to psa to prove i never been married in philippines but municipality still will ask you paper from usa manila embassy legal capacity to marry. There is a memorandum to go around that process. Go to a lawyer and asked to notarized affidavit.
Wow lot of embassy work and government hoops to jump through. I married my filipina in Las Vegas. Super easy but afterwards acquiring the proper visa and green card was a pain. Tons of paperwork. Afterward the immigration office told us we were supposed to have a fiancé visa instead of a tourist visa but it was too late so they had to give her the proper visa. Great to let guys know what to expect Miss Pea. Guys get a prenup.
You backdoor'ed the system. The proper channel is through a K-1. It's a grey area, but you did the right thing. Paperwork takes much longer if you marry her there.
great timely video as the wedding season is coming into full bloom. Guys get your ducks in line, go for it, take the advice of both ladies and get that prenup! Pinays be upfront and honest, that's the best way to save face and your foreign guy will thank you for the rest of your lives!
As an American who was married here, my wife had to get proof from the PSA that she was single, but I never got anything from them. I just provided an affidavit of eligibility notarized by embassy people. I don't recall ever providing a birth certificate; of course I had to provide a passport with valid visa and entry.
Seems like you would not need a Birth Certificate considering you had to have one to get the Damn Passport. However, you don't know who you will deal with in that situation. You got it, might as well bring it.
I got married to a Filipina in her place and something that neither one of us knew is that apparently the foreigner spouse to be is supposed to get a Cenomar also. Some cities in the Philippines will not accept the affidavit from the U.S. Embassy. A Cenomar is simply a document from the Philippine Statistical Agency that neither party to the marriage has ever married in the Philippines before.
your wife probably got t for you without you knowing. Its pretty standard and each step after that will want to see it. we even had to show document that we used to get document for another document for them to accept the last document that we couldnt have got without the first document they wanted. welcome to the phillipines
I just recently came across your channel and subscribed, i am one in the Philippines today and in a relationship with a Filipina for 8 months now, i like your content very informative and educative,. I want to hear Filipina view on marrying black from Africa
Hi Pea, I was married in the Philippines in 2017 and listening to Gracie there was 1 step that I didn't do. As a divorced UK man I completed the requirements at the UK embassy in Manila (birth certificate, 1st marriage certificate and divorce certificate, passport etc) to prove I wasn't married and was granted a certificate to state I was free to marry, but I didn't get a Cenomar from the National Statistics Office as it wasn't mentioned on the UK government website. We then attended a seminar as you described which as an older couple (I was 51 and my wife was 46) was funny / embarrassing with all the younger couples there looking at us as we already had children from previous partners, then we went to the local Barangay in Cavite and completed all the forms there including the 10 day wait for the forms to be processed and also completed all the requirements at the local church before the wedding. After the wedding we took the certificate from the church to the Barangay to process the licence which we have. My question is, is my marriage still legal without the Cenomar on my part (my wife had her Cenomar as she had not been previously married). If you could ask Gracie on my behalf it would be really appreciated. Keep up the good work on your channel, I always find the info you provide very useful and accurate.
The Cenomar means certificate of no marriage. So if you've been married before you do not get one. You provide proof of being Divorced. If you have a marriage certificate from the PSA, you're good 👍.
@@TheFilipinaPea Thanks for the reply Pea, it was just when Gracie said about the foreigner had to get a Cenomar to prove that I wasn't married to another Filipino (as well as the certificate stating that I was free to marry from the UK embassy), that had me confused. For the record my wife is the only one, As I stated we did get the marriage certificate from the Barangay a couple of days after the wedding so I guess all is good. Thanks for putting my mind at peace, you hear of so many stories in the philippines of foreigners been duped.
@@airwess3369 That's exactly what I thought what a Cenomar is, and yes I do have the certificate from the PSA, thanks for confirming what I originally thought.
Great video Pea, both you and Grace look much younger than 30! For myself don't marry someone under 28 lol, not within the Catholic church and definitely have a pre-nup signed. And before I forget really get to know one another, that's the biggest advice for a successful marriage. Grace is 100% right there.
It took my wife and I six weeks. But it was all day every day 6 days a week to get married here. I literally made a spread sheet to keep track of everything. The highlight was the test we had to take and its crazy questions.
@@TheFilipinaPea IDK, the Q's were pretty hilarious. So basically you have to get 100% on the test to pass. All the correct answers are YES. Two questions I remember are 1. If ANY of her relatives ask for money you will give, right? 2. You will give your wife foreplay to get her wet first and not just stick it dry, right? All the Q's are in Cebuano and this was the lady interpreting it to the best of her ability. It was hilarious and embarrassing for all 3 of us.
@@airwess3369 I think k I will make it a point to marry my future wife?....here in the US.....seems there's a bitt TOO much "Red Tape" over there!!.??? And seeing as I have Ministers and Reverends in my family?...getting our Marriage certificate will be a piece of cake!!

Hey Pea , my fiancé and I were going through this procedure today “PSA”., what a zoo at a City Hall. Please be patient foreigners/expats. Easier going through the Drive Through window for a Marriage in Las Vegas Nevada that’s for sure. I’ll skip the tricycle ride on some of the back streets in Pasig City next time. My fiancé had to laugh we were talking about just this same topic prenup last night before this video was posted. No worries people if the Filipino really loves you it’s a signed Deal, the prenup that is. I’m loving life in the Philippines.
hi pea i have to say you have the best informative site of any Philippine vlog, i have watched hundreds over the last few months since coming across Filipina pea and learnt a lot about your country the good and the bad and i find it very interesting, when i make comments on your subject matter or persons being interviewed its about that and NOT AT YOU PERSONALLY, i think its healthy to ask questions even disagree on some things its the way we learn
Hi Pea my wife and were married both in the Philippines and at our church in the US. Getting married in the Philippines wasn't anything difficult to do just a learning process for all the requirements. Getting married at a Catholic church has it's own process. This all started out to get our son baptized which we started 3 months before he was born. We talked to the priest and he reocommended that my wife get baptized at the same time. The class for our sons baptism was a 4 hour seminar on a Saturday. My wifes had to attend RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) which took 6 months of weekly classes. Because my wife had been in country less than a year I attended the classes as well because she was still working on her English. Also before she could get baptized we had to get married in the church which was more classes and going on a weekend retreat at the seminary. This all took about 8 months. What made this even more interesting we started this after my wife spent her first six months going back to school to get her high school diploma. Her surprise was she was able to attend school while pregnant. Unlike her high school in the Philippines when the girls have to drop out.
The process was just so easy when you have all requirements but crazy attending the counseling, it was via Zoom. It was basically discussing about family planning, it is crazy because people attending seem not interested, hahaha. Well, we get the license but we didn’t get married,,but I love him so much he is really nice guy but it is just didn’t work because of differences..Goodluck to guys who will be marrying soon😘
Thank you pea and gracey for orient us on what look for (paper work wise) and plus the lectures or seminar , and the prenup. Great advice , and yes pea i agree you must add your power points that would cool. Thank you, gracie and pea may both of ypu have a bless week🇵🇷🇵🇭
A fellow Boricua?! Personally I’d love to marry a woman from the island 🇵🇷 but western values have corrupted a lot of the women. Philippines is similar in a lot of ways.
Hello Pea, of course, you look fabulous in yellow...............too 🤭😍. Gracie does look beautiful and she is always both interesting and funny. Thank you for a great vlog. ❤❤❤
Great video, Pea. You do look great in yellow! For some reason I kept thinking of lemon pie 😂. Always good to see the hottie lawyer who ALWAYS gives the best advice! You know so many intelligent, well spoken, beautiful Filipinas. Well, you know the old saying...Birds of a feather 🪶 flock together! Now starts the three day countdown
this was a great video and good learning tool as i am about to embark on this journey with my Filipina partner in August this year. she is a province girl but lives close to Manila now and one of the most caring and loving person i have ever met
Great segment Pea. I really appreciate Gracelyn's advice on preparation for marriage to my Filipina..due to the perspective of my age, and my Filipinas age I can understand the shock value in what is needed, but knowing this information lessens that shock which will occur from loss of time and time wasted due to cultural ignorance. My suggestions would be for people to research and understand prenuptial documents regarding their future together. I hope subscribers and viewers look further into their relationships and future plans using this valuable advice.
Me and my Filipina angel are together for 8 years and We are not married. We can do it any time or next year or after 30 years. Marriage is not most important. Most important is to be together and love each other.
Well that was very interesting. Always nice to see Gracie she is very good at explaining legal things. Seems like a complicated procedure to go through to get married. I have been married 2 times and did not work out either time. I would live with someone but don't think I would ever get married again. You are right the yellow shows off your tan so nice you looks absolutely stunning. Keep smiling and stay safe
I'm Catholic, and my ex-wife and I had to complete "Marriage Prep" classes before we married. It was 8 hours of classes and about 20 minutes talking with the priest. Some of it was helpful, most was boring. This was in the early 90's...not sure if they still require this. Haven't been to church in a looong time..😏
@@kevinbarry71 They give the children advice not to talk about the pedophile actions they do to the kids That is the only advice they can give The game of the Catholic church is over everyone know what they are up to The biggest criminal and pedophile organisation in the world The only one that gets away with these crimes agains children
Won't be marrying a Filipina (or anything else) in this lifetime, so this vid doesn't apply to me, but I'm watching anyway. A Pea & Gracie collab is always eye opening & entertaining 👀 Romance is for teenagers who grew up on Disney fairy tales, not full grown adults
Getting married is still not a good idea even if you sign a pre nup. There is just no benefits for men to get married. But women just keep trying to convince men otherwise..
Also remember Pea, the validity of the pre-nup is ultimately limited by the laws of the legal jurisdiction where the marriage is dissolved. Some States (Community Property) look less favorably on pre-nups because of the disparity in wealth and assets between foreigner and Filipina the fact that your spouse had a lawyer to counsel her prior to executing the document the reality is the lawyer was paid by the husband and can therefore be consider more beholding to him than the wife. This is all dependent on the laws in place in the location where the divorce is filed and rarely those of where the marriage was because we both know the Philippines doesn't even have divorce. My recommendation, be kind, loving, and supportive to your Filipina spouse. Not every relationship will work out but ALWAYS get a province (strongly support Visaya) girl and if you do the three things I mentioned earlier even if it doesn't work out her pride will protect you from losing everything because she will have a better life thanks to you.
What if you where married to a Filipina in the Philippines but when you brought her to your country later you divorced her so how does this work if your now wanting to marry another Filipina in the Philippines can it be done?
@@bruce2535josie depends if your ex wife became a citizen of your country. If not then your still married in the Philippines, since there is no divorce here currently. Only option is annulment which is costly and takes a long time.
You can file divorced in your country and go to philippines and recognized your divorce and your free to marry or else get marry in other country like hongkong ,simple as that ..
Hello pea Another great video. Looking beautiful as always. Before marrying a Filipina every one should remember divorce is not a common practice in Philippines. Stay safe
"Hello Gracie. Pea and I need a pre-nup." Gracie to Pea in the local dialect "So Pea how much do you want to take this foreigner for?" Pea replies to Gracie in the local dialect "EVERYTHING" Gracie to Pea "OH, I can do that!!!!" Pea to me "Honey I will love you forever!!!!"🤣🤣🤣🤣
You know what's funny? I'm beginning to understand Waray and tagalog pretty well. And that's one thing I've heard is...oh no, now he'll know what we're saying.
I agree - unless you have an iron clad prenup, which is available in the Philippines. So what are you actually risking? No one can stop you from just leaving the country and getting a quick divorce 👍
One word of advice to getting married in the Philippines. This goes out to everyone in the Philippines. DO NOT EVER GET MARRIED in the Philippines. Until the country joins literally the rest of the world and legalizes divorce, just live together or travel outside the country to marry so at least if things go bad, you might be able to get a tourist divorce in Guam. The only way both the intractable Philippine government and the Catholic Church is forced to change if Filipinos en masse stop getting married at all or in the country.
Yes l completely agree. If the marriage doesn't work out .. your only option is annulment and that's a very painfully slow road. My fiancee is currently 5 years into her annulment. Take your gf to Thailand or somewhere else and get married.
Great video but our main issue is the counseling session is a different day every month. We wanted to get married in December but the day of counseling is not decided until the month before. I am in the US and planning to take Dec off to marry my filipina. But the counseling is the hangup not knowing even when to set a date. Plus the marriage license takes 10 days.
Because I lived in England for 30 years also a union representative so I know quite a lot about British law , phillophines lawers only few now English law only a little , the rest live phillophines don’t have a clue about documents which are real or fake another said thing is the City Hall in phillophines don’t have real temple plates to show which is real or fake never been to British embassy to find out this very sad
Thank you so much for the learning 🙏 of this when I do marry a Filipina I am never married in my early 40s but it's a lot of requirements great video miss pea!
For those wondering how it's spelled he's a little clip from Chat GPT. "The document you're referring to is likely the Certificate of No Marriage Record, often called a CENOMAR, in the Philippines. It’s issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and it's used to prove that a person has never been married."
Pea, great information, as always. I wasn't aware about the man having to get the Cenomar or the lecture process. You look fantastic in yellow! You are also correct about Gracie being the prettiest lawyer in Dumaguete! I love you in the Jeanie costume !
I got Married in 1990 at Olongapo Lutheran Service Center. Luz had to attend a on Base wife Class. Since she was 24 all we needed was the License. So we been married over 31 years.
Philippines law has changed - it’s no longer required to get the capacity to marry at the foreigners embassy. Couples can now apply for marriage license at the local provincial registrar. The necessary documents are the same but the embassy process is no longer necessary. The registrar can research and notarize our affidavit as to capacity to marry.
Thank you pea and gracey for this info this was very informative. One of my friends is dating a Filipina. Keep up the awesome work pea thank you for everything that you do 💪🏾😎💯
Excellent interview Ate Pea. Wish this would have existed 4 years ago... For 2:48 : I think the need for Cenomar does not apply for EU marriage license holders as the legal capacity to marry already verifies the holder as eligible to marry. Or it was a thing they do different in Rizal... Maybe a hint would be helpful to apply for an extended visa, as the standard 30 day tourist visa is only sufficient if you don't mind to do everything in a rush. I got the process visualized in case a handout is desired by anyone
hey pea, since you are not afraid to tackle the tough issues, and you are more than happy to bring women onto your broadcast and get their opinions, I would love for you to do an episode about how to go about getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases, in anticipation of entering a relationship with a Filipina. in conjunction with that information, I would love to see some interviews with some women about how they would feel about getting tested.
Pea, You have been to the US now. But only during our summer. I wonder if you plan on visiting the US during our winter months? I also wonder if you have ever thought about doing any videos about the US and our seemingly crazy weather changes so Philipnas will have an idea of what it's going to be like living here with her American husband. You've done a good job of trying to prepare expats on life in the Philipines and life with a Philipina.

Agreed. The prettiest lawyer iv ever seen.
I'm glad the question period during the seminars are informal. I'd prefer not to take a written test, especially with multiple choice questions about the wedding night.
Hahahahaha
But at least all the answers are correct on that question 😂

Marriage is good for someone that plans to have a family. Otherwise stay single. Play the field. Keep your emotions in check. Don’t get hurt.
If not get lawyers involved and a prenuptial. legal representation for both parties
So sad you are

I got married in the USA but not philippines - that works out better - just got an SRRV visa so I didn't need to depend on a sponsor for my visa
Thanks for sharing that, Arnold, and your last words were important 👍
You backdoor'ed the system. The proper channel is through a K-1. It's a grey area, but you did the right thing. Paperwork takes much longer if you marry her there.
Pea thank you so much for bringing your videos forward an hour - it does make a difference and is appreciated.
No problem, Ian! I try to keep up with your time changes (we don’t have them here)
@@TheFilipinaPea our silly time change is becoming less and less popular. It may soon be gone
great timely video as the wedding season is coming into full bloom.
Embassy. A Cenomar is simply a document from the Philippine Statistical Agency that neither party to the marriage has ever married in the Philippines before.
same here ... just the paper from the embassy
your wife probably got t for you without you knowing.
Thanks for finding my channel 😊❤️
I’m not an attorney of course, but I feel safe to say your marriage is probably fine - if you got the marriage certificate /license, you’re okay 👍
@Shane Porter As a Catholic its against my beliefs to behave in such a way.
@@airwess3369 That's exactly what I thought what a Cenomar is, and yes I do have the certificate from the PSA, thanks for confirming what I originally thought.

It’s (not) more fun in the Philippines 😂👍
@@TheFilipinaPea IDK, the Q's were pretty hilarious. So basically you have to get 100% on the test to pass. All the correct answers are YES. Two questions I remember are 1. If ANY of her relatives ask for money you will give, right? 2. You will give your wife foreplay to get her wet first and not just stick it dry, right? All the Q's are in Cebuano and this was the lady interpreting it to the best of her ability. It was hilarious and embarrassing for all 3 of us.

SIX MONTHS of classes??? 😳

I'm Catholic, and my ex-wife and I had to complete "Marriage Prep" classes before we married. It was 8 hours of classes and about 20 minutes talking with the priest. Getting married is still not a good idea even if you sign a pre nup.
There is just no benefits for men to get married.
But women just keep trying to convince men otherwise..
Wow! That yellow dress is awesome!
Gracie's husband is a very lucky man. Beauty and brains!
What if you where married to a Filipina in the Philippines but when you brought her to your country later you divorced her so how does this work if your now wanting to marry another Filipina in the Philippines can it be done?

@@TheFilipinaPea what are risking? Wrong question, what are you gaining?
I can honestly say that Gracie is the prettiest Filipina Lawyer I've ever met! TRUE FACT!
And get a pre-nup. Better yet, just spin plates. Peace.
Divorce and remarriage is a sin in the eyes of the Church; this will not change as it is God's law.
Yes l completely agree. If the marriage doesn't work out .. your only option is annulment and that's a very painfully slow road. My fiancee is currently 5 years into her annulment. Take your gf to Thailand or somewhere else and get married.
Who the fuck cares if divorce is legal or not? All you need is common sense to marry someone good.

Philippines law has changed - it’s no longer required to get the capacity to marry at the foreigners embassy. Couples can now apply for marriage license at the local provincial registrar.
