My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.
How in the hell is it possible to afford all the food . Especially when the cost of everything is sky rocketing ? Let alone fast food !

@@kennyjohnson366food stamps does play a part. What also plays a part is a lot of times, they have enablers that get them whatever they want because “you need to eat”

In the first person's bowl was a food known as grits which is grounded corn. A common breakfast dish that can be eaten alone or along with other foods like bacon, eggs or even shrimp

No way a person can eat that much food in one sitting . No way . I'm a big guy but I can't come close eating that much !
I assume since most of them have been doing this since childhood, their bodies have adapted to getting that much food; to the point their stomachs expand and/or they don’t throw it up anymore 🤷🏾♀️

They are very likely on disability, unemployment and other government subsidies for health-related reasons (valid or not). Also, most people on this show seem to live in either remote rural or urban areas, both of which have a much cheaper cost of living. It's a mix between affordable socioeconomic areas and cheap or free food costs.

I'm about to have a piece of sourdough toast with some jam and coffee, and I can barely finish that, maybe I'm not a morning person, but that much food she is having in the morning is astounding!
I've been on a Keto lifestyle for nearly four years; it helped me shed 90 lbs. Thankfully I was never as big as these people even 125 lbs overweight (still a few pounds to go) is WAY too much. When I watched Mercedes start her day with eggs & bacon I wondered how she got so big. If she'd just stick to that she'd be fine (well, not that *much* in one sitting). But everything after, the take out food, the sweets, was loaded with carbs, sugar... Those poor kids. Eating their meals on a bed. *Sigh*

You can see it in Chuck's eyes how he blocks everything out when he eats, even his own emotions. It's really sad, especially since it came from his wife being murdered and he wants nothing more than to forget and feel nothing. Really hope he managed to turn his life around and get the help he needs.
