Largely based on the version Mark did live with Emmylou Harris in 2006. But, since we don't have a keyboard player and keyboard bass for that matter, I had to make my own arrangement of the song. I found out that it works the best in Drop D tuning, and I even managed to do a little keyboard run in the break using some harmonics and pull-offs. As you can see, this arrangement works great even without keyboards. As for the electric guitar's part, the main obstacle here is extremely annoying bass notes that can get through, so the main goal here is to bass strings as much as possible. And since it has a capo on the 9th fret, basically as high as it can possibly go, tuning is also crucial. This is a pretty advanced arrangement, but as always, the devil is in the details, so in my opinion, it still holds up even after 7 years. Enjoy!

Guys, I'm not a fan of re-uploading my 7-year-old videos, but I had to do it because there was a major sound glitch on iOS/macOS platform that I have never seen before all these years, and I confirmed the issue through people I know and the problem was still here, so I had to reupload the video. This song is one of my DS/MK favourites of all time. The studio version in "wrong key", live versions from Brothers In Arms tour in 1985-86, then later different versions with The Notting Hillbillies in 1993 & 1998 tours, this version with Emmylou from 2006 All The Roadrunning tour (I saw this live in Barcelona) with amazing nice chorus and finally, in the right key in 2009 An evening with Mark Knopfler... What a incredible and so relaxing masterpiece is this song ❤️❤️ and you got it, Pavels & co 👏👏

That was me experimenting with the great and obligatory keyboard line. I tried many ways... Open tunings, different capo positions, but I almost accidentally found this way to play it. Relatively easy to play if you're into Chet Atkins, just a couple of harmonics followed by some open strings and pull-offs. Nothing extraordinary, but works so great for the song!

Немного критики. Есть ощущение, что вы сместили баланс в сторону техники исполнения и немного забыли, о чем песня. Это слова утешения. Когда такое говорят любимой, в минуту разочарования, в сложный момент жизни, вы не станете вытягивать вокал увеличивая протяжённость фразы. Получается немного формально. Обратите внимание как поёт Марк. Его голос имеет личную интонацию, он обращается прямо к вам. Вам нужно забыть, что это песня Марка Нопфлера, что это кавер, вы должны говорить эти слова лично от себя тому, кого вам искренне жаль.
