    I own the 2002 Lexus IS300 with auto transmission. I use the AmazonBasic 5w-30 full synthetic and Castrol Edge Extended 5w-30 Full synthetic oil before. Castrol Edge Extended is the winner for me because I can feel the engine running so smooth and it make my Auto Transmission shifting very smooth too.

      Valvoline isn't subpar. There's a whole list of things an oil has to do nowadays. Change any oil that has certification at 5k miles with an OEM filter, and you're done. Well on your way to a long-lived engine. If I were buying a used engine, I'd prefer one with frequent OCI with the cheapest certified oil over a boutique oil with extended OCI.
      In 40+ yrs of being very interested in oils, maybe a little obsessed, running some v6 engines to 10,000+ rpm making over 2hp per cubic inch (naturally aspirated) I have yet to see oil related damage. I've learned that lubrication engineers, drivetrain engineers, and factory test labs are some impressively smart folk.

    • @Darlemonte
      @Darlemonte 4 роки тому

      Nope. Plenty of youtubers share this information through similar testing methods.
      Reason it's a good thing: Various tests from all over utilizing similar if not the same testing methods gives us results from all over and the more testing that is done, the more conclusive the overall data is for everyone worldwide.
      Would you rather 2-3 tests with varying results that leave you with more questions, or 100 tests that lets you come to a far more conclusive thought process on the product?

    Exactly what are you compairing? oil quality per price? you did say at 0:15 "is Castrol worth the cost?" as your test shows there is very little differance between the two oils, for the consumer all he needs to know is "Does the oil meet the API Standard and the Manufacturers Requirments"! I would like to point out that at 1:34 the Castrol bearing looks scored! not a good sighn.

    I was a mobile1 guy. I went on a trip from Florida to Kentucky. I got an oil change down the street before I left. Mobile1 10w30 full synthetic. By the time I got to Kentucky I had burned a quart of oil. I decided to change my oil after a week in Kentucky the day before I left to head back to Florida. This time I used Castrol edge 10w30 full synthetic. Hardly burned any oil back to Florida. I've used Castrol ever since. I switched to Amazon a few years ago. I'll stay with Amazon. Just as good but way cheaper. The difference between the two are negligible.
