Yeah it's one of those things where there's so many different tests it's tough to always know which one's best at which test however overall you'll see amsoil does the best overall but there are other oils you can get that beat it in a couple areas.

The pan might've already heated up from 1st test,
when Mobil 1 and Amsoil was brought under the flame.
Don't you think you should compare them all in the same way, by cooling the pan down like the castrol was? You're putting oil into a hot pan then saying how it smokes fast. What did you expect? Lol

Everyone knows Castrol is the best stuff around. Everyone uses castrol gtx hm for their older cars including myself. Whenever I go to walmart or even autozone, that stuff is often sold out or only found in the thinner weight oils. Often times the edge and edge hm is sold out too. Mobil 1 is absolute garbage, that stuff often foams up inside the crank case and burns because they run it so thin. This guy is trying to promote amsoil, but i personally would never trust any motor oil no matter how good they claim it is beyond 5000 miles.
@adanlopez1011 my customers have always liked the Castrol the best out of all of them they notice how it doesn't burn once they switch to Amsoil though they always like Amsoil better it's even a whole another level and definitely hard to bend your head around.

I have two cars, one using OE Amsoil motor oil and transfluid and another compact car using Amsoil transfluid and Castrol Edge motor oil. I would do oil analysis to see any advantages on both of them. I should use Castrol synthetic transfluid on the compact car too. But it is so rare to buy them and they dont have it online at Amazon :)). I wont switch the compact car to Amsoil but it will be fun to see the analysis.
Eben question I was down at the Jeff’s shop getting my smog done and was talking to him about my transmission is there a way to flush out my lines and radiator to get a clog out was looking to add a trans cooler but not sure how to hook it up but I need to clean everything before I get one. I was thinking about taking the lines and radiator out and using the air hose to push any possible gunk out. I had just done a drain and fill last month with 8 quarts of oil and filter and my temps are still at 220+. normal temp (175-181) is what it’ll run at i can start seeing smoke from under my truck once it gets that high. Any idea or would that work using the air?

Maybe I'm missing the point, but what the heck does putting a blow torch to oil in a pan have to do with lubricating properties of an engine oil (oil's main task)? I think I'd rather see a comparison on spinning bearings (like crank bearings) under pressure and extremely high RPM's. Give me a clue about the torching oil in a pan?

Basically there's things called oil coking and different things where it actually Burns and sticks to the inside of the turbo and around the rings different oils have different burning properties and temperatures at which they smoke.
You'll notice there's a big difference between mineral oil and 100% synthetic oil and synthetic blends.

How many miles do or would you rate castrol edge with a wix filter good for?
I've never tested it I would do an oil analysis and check it out.
All I know is I have heard great things about it and it was surprising how little smoke came off that oil.
However amsoil is quite a bit less money and still 100% synthetic so it's still the better oil to get but if you're in a pinch and that's all you can get that would still be a good oil.

For any BMW owners out there. Please use Castrol Edge Full synthetic. Don't go for Mobil 1. We had a Customer used Mobil 1, and his engine oil was gone within 2k miles. He said, he changed his oil with Mobil 1.
So please, don't use it.
Dont take tests like this seriously, it goes already wrong with the engine if temperatures goes around the 130 and this guy is testing oil with temperatures 300, your engine will be already completely damaged anyway 😂
Btw... the original BMW oil brand is the same as BP oil.

And the only point to this video is the way the oils burn.......
this test isn't very scientific however it does show the smoke difference you'll see the mobile one is horrible horrible.
Both the amsoil and the caster ledge are pretty good.
This is a much better scientific graph that shows exactly how much different they are on oil coking.
wheel cooking is when the oil burns like burning butter in a frying pan and it sticks to the metal and become sludge and has a decrease in compression around your rings.

Wouldn't it be better to put it on a hotplate with contact heat like in an engine instead of with fire? Fire isn't in contact with oil while in an engine... Or haha it better not be!
Not really sure All I know is there's hot spots and motors and basically it burns the oil and when it burns it has a chemical change. That crusty dark burnt oil ends up in the filter and if it sludges it ends up around your rings and then you lose compression.
It's amazing how different oil burns differently like olive oil compared to avocado oil is a big difference.
Same thing with the different oils except they have other properties like dispersants and other additives for cold flow.
While some oils are better than others amsoil signature series overall beats all the other oils on average.
just wanted to show that particular heat test and how they smoke and how it's entirely different from one to another.

see the thing is everyone has a different way of learning some people like to read charts some like to just see what the difference is by the way something cold flows or the way it burns.
The more time I spend with oil I find out it is what it is and what it looks like is what it is meaning if the oil looks bad and it's dark and it's thick it's bad if the oil looks light amber and it's very clean looking and it's not burning oil the oil's good it's that simple.
You'll see in the playlists we have a bunch of oil analysis results and basically nothing has ever come back bad.

I watched someone do it in beakers and just got them super hot till the oil completely burnt up. Castro lasted the longest but idk if amsoil was part of the test. I need to see them tested side by side

According to pqia,3 5w20 oils were tested,mobil 1,castrol edge,and valvoline advanced.mobil 1 came out on top with a noack of 8.1 percent...castrol was 8.8 and valvoline was 8.7.???
I have a 2003 Nissan Maxima SE and have been using Mobil 1 High Mileage for years since my car has over 200K miles. Would you say using Amsoil would help to prevent frequent oil burning?🔥 Got to about 500 miles after recent oil change and it was in between low and high mark on dipstick, had to add a little more to bring back to normal.
Yes it will make a big difference I also recommend the amsoil engine flush also the amsoil PI Performance Improver in the amsoil Power Foam.

I also have a 03 maxima and on a recent trip I burned or ate all of the amsoil I put in it. I actually had to pour the mobil 1 euro oil I was trying back in. The Nissan motors of that era are problematic with oil consumption. Maybe the engine flush would help. There's a slim chance my pcv valve is fubar'd.
Correct I would do the flush I would also do a bottle of PI performance approver and I would also do the power foam which cleans the valves injectors carbon deposits in the exhaust manifolds.
It'll clean out the entire motor from the inside out I would also do a filter change with themselves signature series at about 3,000 mi because there's a lot of buildup in your motor that's going to come out and it's going to end up in the filter
Hey Pedro, you still got that Maxima? I believe I have stopped what appeared to be oil burning on my 03. PCV valve was the worst culprit, they unscrew. Lower oil pan gasket, both cam sensor O rings, now she's good.
I used 3 of them, Amsoil but expensive stop used it save my budget, so i used Mobil 1, mostly stick on Castrol Edge Full Synthetic oil.

These tests are nice for show but there is nothing that beats real-world wear & tear. Fill your vehicle with the oil of your choice, then after 5000 mile change it but send a sample to a company like Blackstone that will give you a full analysis.

castrol BP wins hands down. castrol is an old timer, therefore I wouldn't pay a higher price for amsoil to get the identical results with castrol
I have a GDI engine those run hot and I tried Mobil 1 I thought it would go well, and yeah it did not, I had to add about half a quart every few weeks and eventually I even had dirty catalytic converter issues. I was very displeased, trying out Castro which they advertise made for GDI engines and only been a few weeks it's going well

Obviously everyone knows Amsoil is best but this test is uncontrolled and proves nothing...Uneven heat distribution, etc...Personally, I think Amsoil is overkill...Unless you want to set up a bypass system to actually push it 25k, its a waste...And risky
No need for bypass system, you could just as easily change the oil filter and top it off with oil and send the used oil portion for oil analysis. Some of the oil filters they make can last up to one year or 25k also. So maybe just keeping an eye on oil level would be all you need.

From the sound of it and talking to people and seeing test it would be the
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and the best place to get that would be at the dealership.
It's pretty expensive and they don't have all the viscosities.
Also Amsoil quite a bit less money because you go further for oil change so it's a no-brainer to stay with the Amsoil oil it's about a third of the money when you look at the 15000 miles of severe service compared to changing at 5000 plus your engine to last longer turbo the last longer better gas mileage.

I’ve had bad experience using Mobil one in the past before I switched to Amsoil, I lost at least up to a quart to 2 quarts in a couple months with Mobil one. With Amsoil, it doesn’t burn off at all which left me surprised that Amsoil doesn’t do that with it being a pure synthetic oil.

Agreed! I’ve used Mobil 1 for years, and when I switched to the Edge it hardly burned a drop of oil after a 1000 mile drive. The Mobil 1 on the other hand would drop almost a quart and would get really dark and gritty. Castrol Edge is impressive.

When I had a 3.0 Honda Accord years ago ..when I used Mobil 1, it scared me how much I had to Add oll to top it off ..when I would use other oils included amsoil I never had to add oil between oil changes . I never understood back then Why mobil1 would just "disappear" from my Honda Accord.. That's when I stopped using Mobil1.. when other oils didn't " Disappear" on me between oil changes.

Only used Mobil 1 in my old car until about a month before I sold it. Burned through 5 quarts before 5k mike oil change. Awful oil. Started putting castrol edge high mileage in my new truck and the last of the time I had my old car. Haven’t had even a small amount of burn. That’s a big deal.

High Mileage Oil isnt good for new trucks or cars. It has swellers built into it which will swell all your rubber orings and gaskets. Once you use it you may not be able to switch back to the normal stuff.
You can switch back however it's ideal to just use a high quality oil like the Signature Series has gasket conditioners in it that keep it from cracking and keep it moist for the expansion and contraction I highly recommend the signature series you would be very impressed!

I've been using AMSOIL products for about 30 years and I have NEVER had a problem with it. My vehicles have been Harley V-twin air-cooled, liquid-cooled motorcycles, trucks, and cars in which I've used motor oil, manual transmission fluid and ATF. All of these vehicles performed better on it, none burned any oil and all of the transmissions shifted better.
Nay-sayers call this "Boutique Oil" but I speak from experience, not opinion. Yes, it costs a little more initially but I save money as a Preferred Customer and all of my vehicles last longer. In this case, I definitely get what I paid for.

You know what I noticed on AMSOIL’s website, their comparison charts do not include my favourite oil which is the one you tested. Castrol Edge. Both AMSOIL and Castrol Edge are wonderful.

Funny but tests like this doesnt telling much for what car oil is ment to be for, bc a car engine can go up in temperatures under hard conditions to 130 and that is already way too much for a car if happens... this guy is testing with more then 300 LOL
