- Take a tour of my fully-built Tune M1 camping setup in my 2024 Toyota Tacoma!
See all the build details here: tacotunesday.com/
We wanted something that both my wife and I could work in remotely while traveling around rock climbing, hiking, scrambling, and finding sunnier weather!
Best set up I had see so far in this type of medium size truck camper excellent job
This is one of the better diy camper builds I have seen in this class. Well done.
Same Tacoma with an Alu-cab. This is absolutely what I want for a layout. Not happy with my current build. I focused on storage, what I really want is more usability inside like a standard slide in camper. Impressive!
Cleanest camper build I’ve ever seen. Nice work my man.
This is an amazing resource. Your thoroughness and thoughtfulness make a build out for the average joe (me) possible. Thank you for sharing your talent 🍻
The rectangular seat you have closes to the tailgate would be perfect for a boxio or other composting toilet. Make the side open up and put it on some heavy duty drawer slides and bam! Restroom when you need it! Your set up is absolutely amazing i am incredibly jealous.
Awesome buildout!
Nice build - thanks for the video!
Thank you!! I am looking for ideas for mine and this helped a lot!! I mean some of us cant afford to go buy a whole new van or camper..
Subscribed. This is the exact setup I want on my 25 Frontier 6' bed!!
cool setup!! looking forward to more videos. keep it up!
Nice setup
nice build!
Bro! This is fucking dialed in!!! Congratulations
Very nice build. I’ve done something similar with my M1, (RAM 2500) using Toughbuilt Stacktech drawer units to support a bamboo countertop with microwave, convection oven and sink. Two Dometic 115v portable coolers, one as fridge the other as freezer. Ecoflow Delta Max powers all with solar and DC Alternator charger. Just a suggestion, but I’ve found it easier to push the top up from outside, standing on my tailgate and side running boards. Hurt my neck doing the inside technique.
Great use of space. I followed a link you provided to one of your comments and nerded out on the truck bed measurements. Good job there mate! I know you know how much all this weighs but my question is do you have airbags or a beefier spring for the suspension?
Cheers
@@ArikMillet I put the Dobinsons 819V on the rear: tacotunesday.com/build/tacoma-specific.md/suspension still need to find something for the front
That’s a very nice build. It looks like you could convert that rear dinette storage compartment into a cassette toilet enclosure, too, were one so inclined. Any idea what the total weight is? 😃
@@tracythorleifson total weight around 930 lbs, 500 for Tune and about 430 for the build: tacotunesday.com/build/exterior/weights
And yeah we thought about toilets, they all seem like a bit more maintenance and bother than we were hoping for. But it’d be a good spot there!
Thanks! 😃
You have provided an outstanding resource for the DIY camper build out world, especially with your blog. Thank you! Quick question - are your cabinets glued together or are there fasteners that are not very visible somehow? The ultralight plywood, with links to the supplier is extremely helpful.
There's a little info here but I need to add more: tacotunesday.com/build/structural/cabinets
The main frame of the cabinets is out of the 1/2" wood, and I used pocket hole screws + glue to join all the visible joints seen there (you can see one of the pocket screws in those photos, the others are underneath). 1" pocket hole screws were the right length, with the pocket hole jig set to the 1/2" setting.
The drawers are 100% glue (since they're 1/4" wood butt-joined to 1/2" wood).
My only issue with this set up is that it’s not modular. Most of us aren’t camping in our trucks full time so I need mine to be ready for work on Monday. I’m gonna be building my own modular set up inside mine. You’re welcome to follow along.
Love the build and will be using it as an influence on mine! Looking at the way you wired your review backup camera with the GG Offroad harness. Did you run the wires out of the camera holes in the spoiler and along the outside of your camper? Or are they coming out of the end of the spoiler? I am not interested in running these through the interior panels and chassis of the tacoma as that would be too much work.
Where did you get that inside setup? That is the basic layout I want and don’t really find much for the simple single 2 person unless you want to build it yourself. Great job
@@JasonButterfield918 I built the setup myself, sorry! There’s some info on my site tacotunesday.com but yeah you’ll need woodworking skills and tools and it took me about a month and a half working in my spare hours
Damn nice set-up!! Perfect layout/design and finished look. Love the burner leveler, excellent idea and end result. Thanks for the ideas, hope you have many memorable journeys in your Tune.
Super nice build! Did Tune have to modify the M1 to fit your 2024 Tacoma? I have a 2016 3rd Gen 5ft bed Tacoma with an M1 and would love to be able to upgrade my truck to the one you have, eventually, and still use my M1.
Thanks for sharing your design!
You should be able to ask Tune about the fit of 3rd vs 4th gen Tacoma, but I think it might be difficult. The 4th gen bed dimensions are slightly different (slightly bigger). Here's the 4th gen measurements: tacotunesday.com/build/tacoma-specific.md/bed-dimensions
Can you provide a link for the fridge you used?
Dometic CD-30: www.dometic.com/en-us/outdoor/rv-and-van/refrigerators/camper-van-refrigerators/dometic-coolmatic-cd-30-28411?v=9105330082
Walmart and other stores sell it (shipped). Look around for the best price!
Wow who did your interior
Built all the interior myself, plywood, table saw, wood glue, pocket hole drill kit, etc!
@ looks amazing, I have a tundra how much would you charge me for a build like that
@ I wish I could build these out for people! I just have my small garage in our house and I’m not planning on buying a wood shop or anything. I’ve tried to document some of the details on tacotunesday.com for those who want to build something like this themselves
What the heck is the sink connected to, a jackhammer?
Water pumps are pretty noisy when inside your interior, I got the Seaflo one, idk if there's quieter ones. I don't have a pressurizer tank so it has to run whenever the water's opened. It's a similar sound to an air compressor. I've found it's still worth it for having running water with variable speed control. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DLKT4OO
All that and you like alot of other don't see a need for a toilet? These nasty campers going outside and shytting in the woods. They'll tell they use fitness centers which may be. But, when they're in the middle of nowhere they're not driving into town to use the bathroom. Disgusting.
Fruit cake 🙈🙈🙈
Such a dumb idea go get yourself a class B van will coast you way less 🙈🙈
Looks like you don’t do any off the grid camping class b can’t go places where 4x4 trucks go…. SMH
