I wouldn't dream of drilling one hole into my perfectly good 2011 Kestrel FWC. That was amazing to watch Northern Explorer. A labor of love to be sure.
Thanks for the inspiration we just finished our 4 wheel camper build out based on your videos really appreciate your attention to detail I would like to send you some pics of our camper build don’t know how on this app again thanks. Kurt
Thanks to your excellent data this is going to be interesting for me. I pull a 16 ft Scamp and have considered buying a Four Wheel Camper and have wondered what kind of fuel mileage I could expect. My Scamp has an air conditioner on top and is just a bit taller than my truck. I took a trip last fall from Wisconsin to the middle of Montana pulling the Scamp and have decent MPG data and am looking forward to comparing those results with yours. It should give me a pretty good idea what I could expect carrying a 4-Wheel Camper. A big variable in the UP and traveling in the west is wind velocity and direction but other than adjusting travel dates there's no way of remedying that problem. Nice job collecting and collating the data. Maybe we'll see each other in the Porkies. And thanks for the rapid response to my question.
Im new to your channel... So, you don't say, but I'm guessing you bought an already made truck camper. You didn't like the inside & made it to your liking? You did a great job! I like the looks of it! 👍
Thanks! I purchases what Four Wheel Campers calls a Base Model. It's basically a blank canvas that you can leave as is or build out any way you want. Link to video of what it looked like when I first got it. ua-cam.com/video/OSNK0BGU7OQ/v-deo.html
Wow, incredible build! Great attention to detail. I've seen hundreds of builds and yours is up there. Top 5. You now have a new subscriber. Love it and enjoy. 🤙👏
@@NorthernExplorerOverland I have a 21 xl with 6.2 and 3.73 rear end . Went from stock 17 steel wheels that were 245/75/17 to a ford lariat wheel with 275/70/18 and I could tell the difference while towing . My trailer is @6000 lbs . Going up incline it will go down a gear now , it didn't before . I do have the 6 speed tranny. I'm happy with the truck . I have 13k on it now .
I might go with a foldable/portable panel at some point. I usually only camp one weekend a year where i'm in one spot for more that one night. Driving charges the batteries on all other trips.
I have a similar F150 to yours, door sticker says payload is #1853. By the time your camper is loaded, water added, propane tanks full, etc, how heavy do you figure you are?
Really great craftsmanship and awesome video! We built out a Four Wheel Camper Hawk shell about 5 years ago and all I can say is I wish I had your skills. Amazing video too! Our build was simpler and more open (ua-cam.com/channels/tEHifZc8qMF7m_uaV0F-Dg.html) but no where near the quality of your work. Well done!

Way to get after it!
And finally, someone who is not afraid to drill holes through the outside walls.
Thanks for bringing us along on your build!
Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

You did such a quality build .
When you went to taller tires did you have any concerns with your RPM's being lowered Which affects the oil pump ?
👍👍👍👍
No concern. It's a really small percentage difference. I can't even feel a difference when I'm driving.

OMG!! that' is wonderful! Can I ask what size is your truck bed?
Thank you and my truck bed is 6 3/4 feet.
@@NorthernExplorerOverland can I ask you what battery do you use? Thanks!

Outstanding
Beautiful, custom camper built the way personally want it. Very impressed! Any future thoughts on solar panels?

Great video and excellent job! Subscribed.
You must have incredibly strong forearms from all the hand screwing
What do you get for fuel mileage? Before and after if you have the data (truck with and without camper).
How Many MPGs Did I Lose Building Up My Ford F250?

How much to build it for me? I do not have those skills.
Ha, That took me over three years. I'll never do it again.
