    *Great little trolling motor **enjoyable.fishing** recommend had it hooked up to my 15 foot old town canoe and it pushed it pretty good with me and my son (220 pounds each).*

    Fantastic... finally someone who can teach me how the assemble/orient the cells and where to spot weld so all the polarities are correct. EVERY other you tuber I have watched speed through their build assuming that the audience knows what they are doing. So thank you. I will now go and buy your book. 👍

    I had some problems with a pack catching fire because I soldered in-between cells on the positive side and the Nickle melted through the plastic holder and the sleeve for the battery causing a short, this can probably mostly be blamed on my horrible soldering iron and thin as heck holders but since then I make sure to apply heat directly on top of the cell, at least on the positive side.

    Hello,
    I have a question for you:
    Is it a good idea to put a 12v (4s) 14ah battery (ballance charged) in series with a 36v 14ah battery with bms? For a 52v 14ah pack.
    I've seen your video about making the battery bigger with a different bms. But i prefer not to take apart my 36v battery.
    (Sorry for my bad english its not my native language)

    • @briancampbell3959
      @briancampbell3959 5 років тому

      I've been doing this with a 12v 10ah and a 36v 8ah for about a year without any problems. it took my 250 watt ebike from 17mph to 23mph and I weigh 238lbs. just make sure your controler can handle the higher voltage. Also the battery will run down quicker but it's much more fun. Some people say its dangerous mixing battery packs but I've found that the 8ah batterys bms shuts down when it gets to the lower voltage limit which stops the bike so doesn't do any harm

    • @schrockie1

  • @AAronB2834
    @AAronB2834 4 роки тому +1

    Does the BMS regulate the voltage out? If you charge to 4.2v and discharge to 3.0v that is 12-16.8v... a huge variance and I'm not sure you would want to put 16.8v through your 12v trolling motor. (I'm trying to build a battery for my brother, so I am trying to understand what I can do.)
    Of course I can modify the maximum charge/discharge voltage, but then I lose a lot of my potential mah.
    Thanks for the great videos!

      I noticed he didn't answer you after asking 1 yr ago, maybe because he doesn't know how to answer you. You are correct with your concerns. His pack is gonna cook that trolling motor in a heartbeat!

    • @AndiDan
      @AndiDan Рік тому

      I had to scroll down for a half an hour to find your question. I have the same concerns - you are powering a 12v motor with 16.8V. My only solution is a step down dc regulator that is connected to the bms through a switch (switch is needed because regulators use up current in standby). So, basically, without a voltage controller, a 4s 18650 battery pack at 16.8v will work until the motor burns. Could be 2 hrs or 2 weeks

      I use male/female XT60's and XT90's on mine. All up-to you as long as you can solder and use a multi-meter to determine polarity. Just remember to put male/female on the battery side and female/male on charger, output side. Wouldn't want you to short anything out.
