Tadpoles tend to produce a hormone in the water to inhibit their siblings growth. In the wild these siblings often will become food for their larger siblings if they get hungry enough. Tis why you saw differential growth. I raised wood frog tadpoles three years in a row and it was sooo fun!

@@kismecrow That’s amazing! I raise monarch butterflies and I understand the feeling of pride you must’ve had seeing them grow up. I hope you never lose your love for creatures and your little frogs are doing well :)
@@freakdelta2824 yes! I absolutely loved raising them, seeing them grow was so fascinating, I’ve always had a love for animals, especially frogs. I would raise any animal like that any day, being an animal rehab is one of my dreams!
@@kismecrow Exactly! Same here! I actually have a rehab center about a fifteen minute drive from my house, and I’ve spent a lot of time there since I was little, along with living near a ravine, which likely fostered my love for animals. I’m actually old enough to volunteer next summer and I’m super anxious because it’s been my literal dream since I was two or three. I remember the only times I’d get in trouble at school were when the kids were stamping on ants and wasps or squeezing frogs and I yelled at them or shoved them. We had class pets and they’d be so horrible treated it was sad. I tried my best, like one day I when I was like seven I basically forced my mom to help me walk in the school with a 20 gallon tank for the axolotl, Jerome, but the teacher said it was too big and Jerome wouldn’t like it anyways. I was pretty mad, because at that point Jerome couldn’t even fully stretch out, let alone move and thrive! He was in one of the pet store 2.5 gallons!!! He died two months later. I cried a lot. We also had betta fish, most of which died even with my best efforts of reducing their stress with cardboard blockers and trying to stop every kid from feeding them too much more than once a day, but a lot of them passed anyways (I still feel guilty about this. I’m sorry Rasberry and Blueberry and Echo and Goldy). However, by the end of the school year, three fish were still alive (yes, we had three fish split in a FIVE GALLON) and I was thankfully able to take them home, where two of them, Willow, a beautiful female and Maple, a male, my best friend (I don’t know how I’ll deal when he passes, I try to prepare but it’s tough) got their own ten gallon tanks (it was actually the twenty gallon split into two, and while I generally don’t know if split tanks are the best idea, both fish were fairly docile for bettas so the setup worked) and are both still alive today, though getting old, as this took place more than than years ago. Unfortunately, the third fish, Ducky, passed away after spending about half a year in his five gallon hospital tank with fin healing medicine, antibiotics, Indian almond leaf and almost everything we could do to make Ducky comfortable. Also, since my mom and sister are allergic furry animals (dogs, cats, etc) and my mom is deathly afraid of rodents (which I find silly, I adore hamsters, even though are hard pets to keep, as well as rats and mice) as well as reptiles, so I save my love for reptiles, especially snakes, and amphibians for my fun after school and me and my siblings sunder afternoon adventures. To make up for this, I have garden snails, which are some of my easiest pets to take care of, and some the most rewarding too. I handle them, though not too regularly as they are fragile and am able to educate other kids like me because they aren’t commonly kept pets. My first snail was found under my car tire, they’re shell completely cracked and nearly destroyed, but alive. I named them Betsy. I put calcium supplements and a calcium mix, which I still use to this day and well as veggies and fruits like lettuce and carrots and cucumber into her cage to heal her, and this is still my snails diets to this day. Betsy passed away last winter, which was pretty devastating, but I’ve learned to accept death, it’s a part of caring for life, however I still have 8 snails, two of which are actually descendants of Betsy, Sheldon and Shelby! Other snail babies or rescues were given out to friends or classmates, and since I live in a small town, I still get to see them, which I great. And then, of course, I raise monarchs during the late spring, summer, and early fall months. I usually get about 60 butterflies released a year, my record being 62, but this year was a particularly bad year in my area, with only 46 butterflies released this year from me (a lot of other kids do it too, and we have an annual release on the weekend before school starts!) because a lot of the milkweed was cut down on the maid road to be able to see ahead, which really made me mad. Me and my sister (my assistant) marched straight into the wildlife preservation office (which is a huge accomplishment because we’re both very shy, my brother is usually the talker but he couldn’t come, I forget why) near the animal rehab Center and post office and made our case, and they promised they would not do it next year, because apparently other people had come to see them too. They better hold to that. Finally, I have raised toad tadpoles a few times, almost every spring/summer when I was little! It was an amazing experience. The only reason I haven’t done it again is I’ve been incredibly busy with my fish and my snail business in the summer and my monarchs in the summer. However, writing this comment makes me want to do it again sometime, so I will be sure to make time this spring! Maybe it can be part of a project once I become an official volunteer at the rehab Center (I’ve gone there since I was little, so I know the permanent residents who can’t leave because of too much human interaction as babies and I know the yearly volunteers and the staff). I know little kids love tadpoles. Anyways, if you read this whole comment, THANK YOU. It’s awesome to hear from like minded people, and I’d love to hear some of your stories!
I never tire of this video and watching these babies' metamorphosis! Watching these babies metamorphize? Either way- soo freakin' cute! Especially when their back legs first emerge soo super underdeveloped, like someone ordered their legs from Wish and they were 6 sizes too small but they took a photo for the review anyway. 😆😂😂
I found this chanel a few months ago looking to care for a corn snake and have watched this chanel ever since! thank you! also love it when you put words of what the animals are saying!

yes! And, usually animals like that also produce lots of eggs because, like turtles, very few survive. so turtles, frogs, ect have high egg counts.

I know you probably won’t see this but I have a freezing cold pond and it is summer I have 1 tree frog and 1 toad and like 50 tadpoles the water is from our hose and it’s like -65 degrees I don’t have any food for them they are eating algae off of my rocks. They get like 2 hours of sun light a day, They are so happy at my home and I am happy that I have them!
Clears house and moves animals into facility
Emily- filled house with different new animals again
Lol
The front legs on tadpols actually develop inside the skin and kinda pop out fully formed. After the front legs pop out the tails disappear rather quickly.
Edit: posted this before watching the part where you explained it. I actually learned that like 2 videos before your video came up on my feed. Always learning.
I love milk frogs ,so CUTE also I LOVE your videos 💓💓
As a citizen of the UK, this episode so had me laughing. Even us Brits have heard of strange practises in Alabama. Great to see this slice of Americana.
its worldwide... Im in portugal and that joke is everywere here xD if it has reached us, believe me, its everywere... We are slow to catch up to stuff ;-; painfully slow
@@unitato_bia to the best of my knowledge that joke if that's what you want to call it has been a thing for at least 50 years

YAY STEPHANIE YOU DID IT
This is so cute ❤️
Isn't it amazing watching tadpoles transform. 😊❤️🙏🇦🇺🐸

Man, those male milk frogs are shady! Tricking those second females he’s “pretending’ to get with
But smart to make the babies survive.
I love how tadpoles go from little specks with sticks for tales to little froggies in a matter of a few weeks
If you haven't all ready, screen shot the babies on the big frog for next years calendar! SUPER Cool!
i currently am raising treefrog tadpoles!! they're less than a week old, my aunt found them in their pool and most of them died unfortunately due to the chemicals, i had 72 and 90% of them passed , i have 11 who have lived for days so hopefully they live til they're a frog!!
Awesome! Update? Did they make it?? Either way props to you!
@@freakdelta2824 they did!! They all turned into frogs :)

about 1% of tadpoles will never grow up. I heard that somewhere. Can you imagine choosing to not grow up?

I think Milk Frogs are my favorite, they are so cute and pretty! Every year we get tadpoles in a small lake in our backyard so last year we raised them into frogs and let them go. It was so fun!
So the big question: Are they called Milk-Frogs because they taste like milk?
You need to be silenced thank you
Nooo
Lol I mean they produce something that looks like milk. I’m not sure you want to drink it tho, it might not feel good lol.
(They produce a white milky substance that is poisonous in defence)
I think we both know the answer to that
Ok. That’s both dumb and smart lol
Milk frogs are adorable! I absolutely love their mossy colors.

I loved this video!!! I hope to see your zoo some day, but since I'm from Canada that gets kind of tricky... I'm still deticated to going there!! Keeps it up, and work hard to reach your dreams, officially owning a complete reptile zoo!!!
I literally love when the editer puts a text on animals *I loved when it was the smooch* 😆
Like how you edit what you think the animals are saying, always make me smile.
I haven’t even watched it yet but I know it’s going to be good
Twelve hours ago I had never heard of a milk frog and now I've got second hand excitement.

You should do a milk frog care video! I’d love to learn more about these cute little creatures!!
