- Опубліковано 26 чер 2018
- Surrounded by 14,000ft peaks, Telluride is the second highest airport in the country. But first a two hour flight turns into a six hour flight as we dodge storms VFR over high terrain to avoid icing.

Great video Matt! The quality of your content is amazing and you have your own unique way of editing/ storytelling that is refreshing! Looking forward to your next video!
The mountains in CO are so impressive. Everywhere you go you can find tiny mountain towns in the middle of nowhere. It’s lovely
Another great video!!! Loved the post flight tour and views! Thanks for taking us along, really enjoyed it!
Love watching your videos during my Jeppesen study breaks. The trick is getting back to work and not getting sucked into watching more lol. Awesome vids!
Thankyou for sharing your great flying experiences .
I do appreciate watching your yoke positions during your take offs & landings inside the cockpit .
Thankyou again .
Really enjoy your videos Matt and you so obviously have fun ....thank you for sharing and putting so much work into the films
Epic Telluride video....I really enjoyed this....thanks!!
Amazing video! Again!
Amazing scenery and great video Matt ! Can't wait for the next video !
I spent a week in Telluride this past December on the mountain skiing. Love the town and people as well, on top of the “epic” views. Could see the airport on every ski run, hoping to fly in there someday and visit again. Great video!!
Matt, as a 30 year resident of Telluride and a long time follower of your vlog,, you just killed it with this one. You really captured the epic scenery of the Colorado River basin, as well as the Telluride region. Having flown into TEX dozens of times when United had regular service using twin engine prop planes, the view never gets old. Almost looks like the mountain version of an aircraft carrier landing. Fabulous video.
Proper place many thanks for bringing us along cheers
Awesome! Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
Matt, you're such an inspiration! Great energy, full of passion and so adventurous! You rock.

Thank you for sharing.
The views are awesome of mountains flying into a 9000 foot high runway, nice skills boys, great video.
That looks like a lovely date BTW! haha the end part was epic, loved the songs.
Typical VFR trip in mountain West. I didn't see anything unsafe. Matt resisted co pilots 500 requests to turn right into weather & terrain. Great approach & landing at TEX.
This is one of my favorites! Plus Show Low is my home. So much epicness!
Matt, another great video ... my best wishes and compliment .. please do not stop posting .... hugs from Italy
Man I was having a bit of a crap day, then I got home from work and saw you had a new video. Suddenly, the day seems a little less bad. Thanks, Matt!
Totally my stomping grounds. I’ve been flying and driving these areas for decades. Turboprops and turbine helicopters.
I worked in Show Low for a few days. Thanks for the video of it.
Some thirty years ago I did Durango-Telluride many times in Cessnas 150, 152, 172 and my own Piper Pawnee 25. Great nature and great fun flying in between the mountains. Love the area though I never left the airport to go downtown, which I now regret seeing the place on your video. I love your videos so keep doing them. Regards Paul, Norway.
Man, very beautiful stuff!
Great video. Drone footage is unreal. We have a beautiful country 🇺🇸
The jazz and the mountain lodge reminded me so much of Final fantasy XV , great video!
Nice flight, good work bro your a pro..
Really nice video man!
Fantastic
Matt, you have a tough job, but by golly, somebody's gotta do it! Love your vids, kid!
Stumbled onto your channel here very nice flight it makes me wish I was still flying helicopters looks like you're enjoying flight thanks for sharing it
Nicely done. Good decision on mixture.
Naitive coloradan here, thanks for giving our airport some love, there are some pretty cool things in our state regarding aviation, come back soon!
Bravo! Just excellence all around. Ah, to be young and you.
Great ride along...
One video and I'm hooked. Awesome video.
Looks like fun!
Matt! I learn so much watching your videos - I'm just a sim pilot, but if I had a GA plane it would be an A36 with a G500 and tips. My dream. Here's what I learned today. At the end when you stepped up on the wing, to get in, the suspension was much softer and active than I ever would have imagined. Something new everytime!
@mattguthmiller love your videos man! Shout out to ShowLow Arizona lived there for ten years!
Matt, good to see you in my neck of the woods. (Colorado) We celebrated my FIL's 70th birthday there in Telluride. What a fun town! Was that Brown Dog Pizza? We had lunch there one day. Hope you got to see Bridal Veil Falls!!! (no footage, so guessing not...) You'll have to come back in the summer and check it out! It is where the hydro plant was located as you referenced the 'first city to have DC power' The generator house was featured on 'Extreme Homes' many years ago as a family lived there year round with access only via a cable gondola in the winter. Quite worth the trip! Happy flying!
Wow such a fun flight.
right in my back yard. I lived and worked in telluride for 5 years, live a bit south in new mexico now. Telluride and the surrounding areas are spectacular, probly why ive lived here for the last 30 plus years.
My man can eat! lol... Every video shows either great snacks or amazing food at airport restaurants.. Enjoy the great food. You are an amazing pilot!
Was that a GREAT adventure or what? One of your BEST videos!!
Enjoyed the photography at the destination with all the shots of the sights and cuisine.
These are the best kind of trips. One of these days you’ll have to fly out during summer and experience the CO density altitude and climb a 14er. So much of this video makes me miss living in CO.
12:12 - "Bonanza 367 Hotel Papa is at 7,000 trucking along." 😂
Wow, epic 👍
Your camera work and editing is great. Keep it up!
Matt! I Live here in telluride! I wish I had known you had come because it would have been cool to meet you. But anyways, I am glad you got to experience our town. Super cool place and when you do spend your week here, I'll be sure to say hi to you.
But the flight though... I mean what are you gonna do when weather gets in your way. But I think you made the best of it.
Keep on sharing, thanks for the awesome vid!
Love the vid!! I spend time up at Telluride too and love the shots you got! I live in Grand Junction co and try to go up there the most I can but I never took a plain ride in there but I spent some time spoting aircraft there too. Again love the vid and keep it up!!
Welcome to the American West! From NM to AZ then CO. You got to see some of the best of the West. Come back again and again Matt.
Nice to see what you encounter on your stops. This video is the first of probably 12 I have viewed of going into this airport. The others left-out the town etc which is the reason for flying to a destination (sometimes).
Great video. At the end dude says, "Ok, we're off to Vegas." I gotta earn this PPL and get a plane. The freedom.
You will NEVER regret getting your PPL.
Yes my dream is be a commercial pilot to travel a ton and meet friends in other countries / states
back in the barnstorming days flying and freedom went hand in hand and in the modern age of aviation, freedom had been smashed against the wall. True, a pilot and can some airspace that does not required special equipment, however that airspace is decreasing by the day. Aviation is heavily regulated and no doubt the safety record is result of such regulations and as they say the FAR's have been written in blood. By the way, stay out of Area 51! I still remember the pilot who called Art Bell from his airplane and said he was entering Area 51. That was the last time this pilot was heard from and has disappeared! Freedom?! Maybe Alien worlds actually have people who are actually free because they have evolved into a higher life form!
@PaleBit Alien I think about it this way: The SR-71 Blackbird and the F117 were both developed at Area 51, and there's absolutely nothing extraterrestrial about those planes.
Amazing video.
Beautiful
Telluride! Reminds me of Saginaw MI. Very intresting flight!
Welcome to mountain flying !
Very nice
still my favorite video you made, the never give up attitude
love the wing cam
4:08 Apple watch series 6: Did somebody call my name?
....and the altimeter
that center line though.. mazing!
New Mexico, my old stomping grounds where I got my PPL. I learned about density altitude on my first flight with the field elevation at almost 5000 feet. My most challenging airport was the old Ruidoso, NM airport with a very tricky approach. You had to make a VERY wide detour to make it to Telluride!
I’ve flown into Telluride and it’s a beautiful place.
The quality is 4king amazing
Love 4k.... if you have the bandwidth it's great!
Gewglesux Or the screen
yes, that too !
What you did there....I SEE IT! lol
Love watching you hopefully you go to Oshkosh so I can see u
Brown Dog Pizza… One of my favorites!
I need more adventurous friends.... Nice Job you two!
Nice cinematography and music. You'd make a good Hollywood mogul.
