      That's one of my biggest pet peeves as a Controller and when training new Controllers. Your voice is not supposed to match the aircrafts airspeed.

    *This is an exciting flight, but without a cam on the screen, showing ahead and or the train, it's difficult to see beyond the windshield lolo.* *As an arm-chair co-pilot, I need more information to relax! ;-)* *Was watching steveo1kinevo and then another pilot flying into Telluride from Centennial airport, I guess, but with a plane that comes with a parachute...?* *I'm more relaxed with Premier1 and seeing you have two jet engines, it makes watching less stressful, in your circumstances--even though I'm in my living room...haha!* *I'll be able to sleep later! ;-)* *Thanks for the flight, enjoyed it!*

    P1 Driver, thanks again for a great flight. Slowly but surely I'm making my way through your video library of flights and I'm enjoying every one. I came upon your UA-cam page at just the right time as I'm pretty much home-bound during these winter months and your videos have really helped me out. As I've previous stated, I miss flying so very much. Although its been almost 30 years since I last sat at the controls of an airplane, your cameras have sure helped to fill that void. Regards, Ernie

    • @vonhinx

    • @drumdude46
      @drumdude46 8 років тому +2

      Correct. ATC speaks mostly in terms of Altitudes MSL... ( mean sea level) ... there are a few instances ( on some charts, for instance...) where AGL's are depicted ( above ground level) on P1's departure from KTEX ( telluride)...all stated Alt's to climb to, were in FLs... measured from Sea Level.

    I HAVE TO admire & respect your videos! I also thank you for putting these together... The views of Colorado are breathtaking. I vividly remember 20-yrs ago driving back to Ft. Lewis, WA from Sav'h, GA [I was an Army officer stationed at Ft. Lewis] & on a Snowy late night in a front-wheel drive Honda Prelude navigating from West Denver through Vail's mountains, w/ zero chains ~ VERY Interesting! I've LOVED aircraft-flying since I was six (1967) . My wife & daughters cringe whenever an aircraft zooms-by & I do the Whiplash Neck Maneuver to google at them. Anyway, thx 4 these superb videos..

I was a F-16 Crew Chief at the 122nd from '04-'10, and my dad flew F-100's and F-4's there from '71-'91. Have you ever considered having someone sit right-seat full time? Anyway, currently living in Fort Wayne, would be honored to meet you sometime!

    • @gregmink
      @gregmink  8 років тому +1

      Awesome...we just missed crossing paths. Great memories of my time up at the Fort. Its not that I don't want somebody sitting right seat, but more a function of flexibility and ease. But in reality, a right seater is probably not far off in the horizon.

    Loved this flight, Greg! I worked at Addison Airport during the early 90s. I was fortunate to get to fly quite often. It was cool to see some of the familiar landmarks of the Dallas area from the air. The shortest flight I have ever been on was in a Lear 25 from Addison to Love Field. It was a late night re-positioning flight and the pilots decided to see how quick they could get from wheels up from 15 to touchdown on 13L. It was under 4 minutes.
    Loved the split screen with the outside views / instruments and having the routing in the description made it easy to follow in Skyvector.
    My kids are always begging me to take them to the airport to watch the airplanes.. We often go to the park that is right under the final approach of 13L. I will have to show them this video tonight. They will love it. I know making videos is not your profession and you seem to be very busy. Just want to say THANK YOU for the extra time you invest to allow us to ride along with you.

    Wow! That shear drop at end of 27! Minimum safe altitude either side ~14,500' - Blimey! Nice view of KDAL area lakes on way in. ~18 years ago in a rented C172. Doing the $100 burger deal to Abilene and back. Called KGPM from, I'm sure, a VRP "Venus" on my chart (no fancy Garmin stuff). "Y'all where?". My English accent fooling them perhaps? Sorted eventually (over Joe Pool lake) and landed at KGMP with the big boys overhead heading to KDFW. Just trying to get re-join not re-entry! BTW - Ended up being fantastic BBQ in Abilene, driven and hosted by 4 really nice USAF guys on training mission in a biz-jet we just Happy memories.

    Wow. Good thing both FJ44 powerplants were working. I'd rather not be behind the controls with one out after V1 there based on that climbout profile and the gulches in front of, and beside me. Anyway, it's a shame this aircraft wasn't more successful in sales. It was categorized as a LJ class jet but really was in a class of it's own like a super-LJ or something similar to the super-Mid class jets like the Challenger 300/350. The P1A blows away the direct competition class and performance as far as speed. They are all pretty much equal in range and payload performance though (looking at you Phenom 100 and Cessna CJ1 that are 60+ knots slower at high speed cruise).

      It was custom. You can search available tail numbers on the FAA website and reserve one from there.

    Hi there.
    Do you not worry about being the only Pilot controlling the Aircraft? Can any of your passengers fly? Call me paranoid but I saw you drinking that water and I thought, crikey, imagine if he choked on something...????

    I noticed several times you don't do the checklists. Does the plane have an automated checklist system or something?? lol
    Thanks...

      The checklists are all on the MFD. At :24 on this video you can seem me running the checklist on the center screen.. I typically don't narrate during that time though because I'm, well I'm running the checklist. :-)

    It seems when a controller is talking too fast, in this case way too fast, it seems pilots try to increase their speed to match her speed. This should not be done, as it encourages her/them to keep talking too fast and maybe try to talk even faster. It is recommended instead to purposely talk slower than normal, this may cause the controller to slow down. It's the human ego that insists... "Oh, I can keep up with fast talker, I don't want her to think I'm not sharp enough, I can talk really fast too" But this takes away from the enjoyment of the flights, and reduces the ability to relax and focus. A friend & I took off in his Beech Bonanza Florida bound, Chicago center handled us with fast talking controllers. When we got further south, the next center had these friendly laid back southern accent controllers. We both remarked how much nicer & relaxing the rest of the flight was, we also noticed how our tense muscles had relaxed right after our first contact with a slower talking southern accent controller. Same deal on the way back, calm & relaxed until we got handed to Chicago center fast talkers, then muscles tensed up again. Not interested in the theory that Chicago center may be busier and need to talk faster. It's the difference of personalities & character of people in different areas of the country.

    And you had to be very cautious. Winds, very active runway going into Dallas. And thank goodness you had a tail wind. Hugh?
