In the latest episode of ‘Chronicles of the Desert’, we briefly learn about three saints that were added to the church calendar on March 9th, 2020 by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople. These three modern elders benefited from the system of spiritual fatherhood that has long been in practice in the Christian east and continues today within the Orthodox Church. Saint Joseph the Hesychast and Saints Daniel and Ephraim of Katounakia, all labored in the Athonite desert in the 20th century and taught others the ascetic and hesychastic tradition that, along with the sacramental life of the Church, leads to purification from the passions, acquisition of the virtues, and union with God. This video will be followed by at least three videos sharing a story or two from each of their lives.

St. Jospeh the Hesychast would say the Jesus prayer 6-8 hours a day without distraction. Meanwhile, he was always facing some short of bodily pain as for his life had many illnesses. In his book he describes how horrible the pains are, I can tell you the pains were brutal. Picture saying the Jesus prayer while you had the flu 3x that was his pain for years, and was still be able to say each word of the Jesus prayer from the heart. He is and was a miracle worker.
Meanwhile I can't even say it 3 times before getting distracted

Holy Elder Monks who had lived in the dessert all your lives. Please pray for all blind people and pray for Carmen who Lost her sight at 30 years old. Please pray for peace in Jerusalem. Pray for all people on earth who are struggling under the demons dictators. Please in union with Jesus Christ take all those demons and send them with the pigs to die drown down at the sea just like Jesus Christ did before dying at the cross. No doubt about the experience that i have been through,Odd or miracle event that I wrote in many sites , I am an Arab from State of Qatar this is not my name for personal reasons in the second half of April 2016 , woken suddenly to witness this phenomenon I saw on the ceiling of my room clearly and for period a few seconds it was sufficient the image of the Christ the face clear, appearance is very natural without the presence of things out of the ordinary, his face is a little long, the beard is normal and the hair of the head lays on top of his shoulders the eyes with beauty and sharp looking and features are wonderful and light skin color resembles Middle East Caucasians people , image impressed me with complete clarity, I thought at first that he looked like one of my friends to a slight degree, but quickly I felt inspiration jumped to my mind he is the Christ, this what has occurred how to explain no idea .using google as assistance to translate Arabic to English. ظاهرة عجيبة كتبتها بمواقع كثيرة لو كنت بشك ما دونت حرف واحد وانا مواطن قطري صاحب تعليم وثقافة ليس هذا اسمي لأسباب خاصة في النصف الثاني لشهر أبريل 2016م وبكامل حواسي ومستيقظ وصاحي كنت نائم فجأة نهضت وكأن اريد لي أن أشهد هذا رأيت على سقف غرفتي بصورة واضحة ولمدة لا اعرف ممكن ثواني لكنها كافية صورة السيد المسيح الوجه واضح وكأني لمحت ان يديه إلى الخلف ومظهره طبيعي جدا بدون وجود أشياء خارجة عن المألوف وجهه شكله طويل قليلا اللحية خفيفة وشعر الرأس يتدلى على بداية كتفيه تقريبا وعيون بها جمال ونظرات وملامح رائعة وابيض اللون وشكله يشبه شعوب الشرق الأوسط و الغرفة بها اضاءة خفيفة والذي أبهرني الوضوح التام للصورة وقد اعتقدت بداية انه يشبه أحد الأصدقاء بدرجة بسيطة لكن بسرعة احسست او إلهام راودني هذا هو المسيح الذي حصل كيف تفسيره لا اعرف .

Are you sure? I think it was another Elder Daniel that was the spiritual father of Saint Joseph the Hesychast and not St. Daniel Katounakiotis...anyway good video!
@lessthandust There were two Elder Daniels from which Elder Joseph benefited and sought counsel. Elder Daniel the Hesychast and Elder Daniel of Katounakia, both around the same time period. I think his first official spiritual fathers that he was under obedience to as a monk were Elders Ephraim and Joseph the barrel makers. But he sought counsel from Elder Daniel of Katounakia because he was very discerning.

I want to be come a monk, but how?
You must speak with your spiritual father and he will guide you. Later you must find a monastery where the monks are cenobitic and have a healthy spiritual life, otherwise you won’t be happy.
@@Trisagionfilms I'm from the Philippines and there's churches and all but too far away so I literally can't even part take in the sacraments because of financial issues and also I'm not baptize by the Orthodox church but by the chatholic so I actually don't know what to do I still pray tho and try to live somewhat like monks but so probably in the future where I can travel and have saved enough money I will travel and try to find a spiritual father, so I can become a monk, appreciate for your response and I will do what you said when I can actually do something(cause I didn't tell you I'm actually a teenager about 13 and I'm turning 14 in November) But does my age make me different and unworthy to be come a monk probably yes cause I'm struggling with sin and Haven't learn to be slow tempered so probably that's why God doesn't want me to become a monk this young cause I need to learn sooo much but thanks for the advise

@ChristIsKing7449 Yes, at 13, you are too young (generally speaking) to know if the life of a monk is for you. First things first, you must become Orthodox, and as you grow, the path will become clearer for you.
much colder in greece? surely it wasn't cold enough to die in greece??
yes on Mt. athos it snows and gets very cold during the winter we even showed some footage on the video.

It's all good. I figured people think that way of Greece but that's mainly true of the southern areas (and even there it snows in the mountains) have a good day :)
