You probably already know this, but the director Yelena Popovic who produced "Man of God" (about St Nektarios) is in pre-production on a film about St. Moses!
I did know that! I heard it might actually be a contemporary retelling of the story.
There is ALSO a movie in development called 'The Black' which is post-apocalyptic retelling that links the story of Saint Moses with that of Saint Mary of Egypt. Should be good as well!
Can't wait!
I wish they made Hollywood movies or series on the lives of the saints… it’s such interesting stuff
I was just thinking this guy's life would make a great movie
@@NicBob89yes, perhaps, but i prefer what PATRISTIX does
St. Moses the Black, pray for us... This is my patron saint.
St. Moses the Stong pray for us.
I just learned about St. Moses The Black last month, and I am thrilled to share his story with people from my own community. Grace and Peace brothers and sisters 🕊️🙏🏽🕊️
He is a really amazing saint!
My patron ❤️
Blessed be God, forever 🙏
As a young man, I too find many of Saint Moses' struggles relatable. Particularly lust, and a violent heart.
Lord have mercy.
He's an excellent example for young men today
This is my patron saint. Hes honestly my hero
when the raiders were about to come he said "those who live by the sword shall die by the sword" and he and 7 former raiders he had converted stayed behind and let themselves be killed
Such a beautiful story of repentance. One of my favorite saints! ☦️
Abba Moses shows us anyone can repent. In our modern day forgiveness is never given(a consequence of our atheistic world) and its very inspiring to me. I think I'm going to chose him as my patron soon
To the team behind Patristix, thank you so much for these videos. These are underrated gems and I've learned a lot from this channel. God Bless
We really appreciate the kind words! God bless and thanks for watching!
Saint Moses's story would be a grate moovie.
Where has this channel been all my life. Loved this.
Glad you found us!
What an amazing story! 😊
St. Moses is one of my favorites because of his struggle of lust and anger is just way too relatable. If he became a great saint after years of struggle than that gives me so much hope.
As a fellow filmmaker and amateur Church historian, I'm so glad to have found this channel. Love the film grain, the lighting, Narsil/Anduril, and those derbies (or bluchers). Where'd you get them if you don't mind me asking?
Yes, Moses is an excellent saint for young men today! An example of true repentance, a gentleman, and a man of God.
And they're floresheim shoes. Bought at a huge discount during a sale at a local shoe place. Coming from you, that's a gratefully received compliment!
Amen 🙌
What a story, and what a testimony!
Thank you ❤❤❤
I watched the old upload just a week ago, so this new one is a pleasant surprise. Thanks for sharing his story with us (and resources).
Thanks for watching! We aim to release new episodes weekly, so come back a week from now for more!
Thank you for explaining
EDIT: What a great coincidence (not irony), cause I learned a bit about St Moses last week!!
@@JohnGeometresMaximos Good point, Imma acknowledge that, thank you!
Nice video
I love your videos! Where can I find all your depictions and art n the video though? Are they all hand drawn by the Patristix team? They're amazing
They're mostly from copyright free books and resources of the 19th century! The British Library and other places have scanned heaps of images that are available online. We go through a long process of finding pictures that fit the story, and editing them to work in the motion graphics.
@@Patristix niiice thanks

Surely the upcoming film on St Moses was the inspo to make a video about him. Great work
Actually, no! Our episodes are planned months ahead and build on each other. We've recently introduced prayer beads and the Desert Fathers, so we wanted to introduce one of our favourite Desert Fathers in an episode that will link ahead to next week's one. Stay tuned...
Where specifically did saint mose lived in north Africa??
And where is his body??
He lived in the Western Desert of Egypt, and his relics (body) can be found at the Paromeos Monastery, an old site of Coptic monasticism in Wadi el Natrun
🩸🗝️🌹
Hello, are you an Orthodox Christian?
Yes, the channel is created by Orthodox Christians
The message really is that it doesn't come in a flash and 'that's done'.
It's very much a life-long journey.
Amen!
My Parton Saint :)
Can I just say , be careful with your words , we must not love the things of this world
Could you talk about St Christopher of Lycia (+250 AD) and St John the Dwarf (+405 AD)?
Are you South African? You sound South African. And the rooibos tea! I love it. I am South African by the way. Awesome video.
Never been to South Africa, but get that a lot! The accent is a mix of different places, mainly Australia.
Thank you for watching, and yes, Rooibos tea is a good thing. Flavourful but no caffeine!
@@Patristix oh I see! I think we need to get some botanists to breed a variety of rooibos that has caffeine! 😂
Thanks for the reply. I am really enjoying your channel. I am new to Christianity after being raised a Jehovah’s Witness. It’s been very difficult deconstructing my old beliefs and building a real relationship with Christ. Channels like yours really help as I love history in general and I get to learn true Christian beliefs. Keep it up!!
May God be with you! Would definitely recommend connecting with an Orthodox Church and chatting with a priest about all these kinds of things. Patristix is an introduction but Orthodoxy is the real life application.
And rooibos being caffiene free is one of the best parts of it! It's got strength but can be had in the evenings.
@Patristix thanks very much for the advice. I shall reach out and visit a church soon. There are many in my vicinity.
God bless. Looking forward to many more videos!
I have Kimbo Slice in front of my inner eye. 😄
I love this!
Is there a video about the proper way to chose a patron?
Not yet! But it's a good discussion to have with your priest. Also worth remembering that your relationship with your chosen saint is like any friendship. It will grow as you grow in the faith. So it's not a scary decision or one you will get wrong. We choose to become closer friends to others and to grow the friendship. Also: while we all have a patron, we are friends and fellow believers of LOTS of saints besides! God bless!
In Islamic belief, the Prophet-Messenger Moses peace be upon him was dark black with harsh hair too. He was also very strong and very tall and big
Thank you again for your excellent video. It helps me understand the Orthodox path. However Roobos tea from South Africa nice plant but not my favourite tea.
That's fair enough. I enjoy rooibos a lot, has a nice strong flavour but no caffeine. Also acts as a good base for mixed tea blends that can be had in an evening.
