I saw Randy a bunch of times starting back in 1978. I was blown away! He had started the show by having a fog machine produce this low hanging fog on the stage. Then he would without us seeing him, cause his guitar to make these booming sounds. It would get more and more intense, till you can see him coming out of the low lying fog. It was an AWESOME entrance!! I saw him several times locally, and took many pictures of his performance. I saw him at the Greek in Hollywood with Buddy Miles, another time with Mitch Mitchell, and also at the second Monterey Pop Festival back in 1989. That was so groovy! Randy had turned me on to this guy from his first interview with Guitar Player Magazine, who was installing his new concept for a tremolo out of his garage in Seattle. It was none other than Floyd Rose himself. Randy was awesome. I haven't seen him in decades ever since he moved to Europe. Definitely, without question, the very best Jimi Hendrix impersonation of all time.
Amazing that I had never heard of Randy Hansen until I saw his performances on UA-cam. I am a 67 year old original Hendrix fan who saw Jimi perform on the July 1967 Monkees tour.
Ok must have been in 5th grade. I'm 70, saw him early in 67, and was in 8th grade. Seeing Randy was never on my bucket list. Kind of like seeing an Elvis impersonator.
Excellent Documentary/Had the pleasure of seeing Randy at the Keystone Berkeley back in 83/Both Frank Marino & Randy Hanson have seen some Miles/Love these Guys/Thx for Sharing ⛅ 🎸 ⛅
I saw Randy and Machine Gun in Davis, CA. in October of 1979. He was awesome, my brother took me. My brother saw Jimi 5 times, and he said this is the closest thing to Jimi as it gets.
Hansen is THE best contemporary ROCK GUITARIST since Hendrix, bar none. The power of Hansen is unparalleled in modern music including metal genre. Hendrix was the most ROCK N ROLL you could get out of the guitar, and still is.
Never heard of Randy until 3 years ago while being a total guitar addict since 1980. I guess the StevieRayVaugh phenomenum took its toll on Randy S space of expression. I am mindblown by the early concert footage. He is awesome today but waow did he have this wild moves while young, hendrix on steroids.
I heard of randy back in 1980 cause kids with older brothers said they seen Jimi Hendrix for 5 bucks . Said he jumping on tables all over…One guy I knew sat by himself out in soccer field . I knew what he was thinking about. Years later we started a band became local celebrities. Playing covers Y&T, Black Sabbath, and ratt, motley crew songs, beyond the realms of death opening with (hit the lights nobody knew Metallica back then. Unless you lived bay area into metal underground at ‘the stone) ’But people wanted Huey Lewis news, Frankie goes hollywood. John wait. People often laugh about cloths they wore during 80s and music they listened to. Do they cry?
I saw Randy in the late 70's and he was a revelation! He also did 'Band of Gypsies' live with Buddy Miles at the Kabuki Theater in San Fran. Also fantastic!
A few years ago I was in a Carpenters tribute band and we played a showcase up in Seattle. Heart by Heart was playing there too and I had to watch them after our set. Randy was playing guitar along with a blonde lady guitar player. They were excellent. Randy was a trip he came up right in front of me and our drummer during his performance. I found him very funny so I laughed at him but I hope he wasn't mad. I thought he was trying to be silly.
If there's one thing that disappoints me about Randy Hansen, it's how he could have done so much more than Jimi Hendrix. He could have found another guitarist to play the parts he isn't playing. Lead guitar comes across so much better with rhythm or background sounds. Jimi had keyboards and other instruments on his album and his Woodstock appearance.
This is magical. Been a massive Hansen fan since hearing a live set of Randy Hansen's Machine Gun (his Hendrix tribute) on a local Bay Area rock station in 1978. Dude was a local legend around that time as his Hendrix prowess grew in notoriety. Finally saw him live in 1980 supporting his first solo album. I can still picture him running through the Warfield Theater in San Francisco, playing like Purple Haze and Manic Depression like he was on fire. One of my absolute top five guitar heroes along with Jimi, Dave Meniketti, Pete Townshend, and Adam Franklin (Swervedriver(.
You got to be Legit in writing and singing, and playing your own music. Not covering, copying, dressing like the real deal. If you ain't 100 percent original and legit. You quit.😂
In some way I can appreciate the Sentiment he's a Good Guitarist but he's not Jimmy Hendrix. I think Hendrix would not be so understanding he would probably tell Randy if your good why did you Waist your own shine.
Al Hendrix was just being a nice colored negro African American Parent of a true goat legend. Jimi paid his dues with his people all thru the backwoods of Amerikkka, playing in the juke joints,Uptown harlem Georgia, Mississippi in all the soulful places with the delta bluesman and likes. The realschooling, and these people getting credit for what ?Stealing the style of Jimi Hendrix
Hendrix died too young. There's not a ton of good video of him playing live and there are some songs we have no live footage of at all. With Hendrix gone, who cares if a dedicated fan of his carries on playing his stuff? (and doing an amazing job) Rather than accuse him of stealing, why not be grateful for Randy Hansen. I sure as hell am.
The best copy Katt. Hendrix did his own Thang. Little Richard said everybody is a star you just got to be put in dipper and poured back on the world. All true don't copy or overdose copying a legend. Sly didn't do it Prince didn't either. Original stars go out on Original message to share with world.
He can play extremely well but just can't be his own original messenger. All time copying Jimi he could have spark a fire and burned his legendary code. I am just saying.

Wow Hendrix dad called Randy Jimi there's nothing more to say Congrats To Randy a true legend
in may 1979, randy came upstairs and let me play his guitar, at the philadelphia academy of music, the crowd went insane,,,,cheers from italy, robert

May this day find you well.
We must have entered a new timeline of existence… because I’ve not heard of him either, and that’s frankly just impossible. …..Tom

I saw him in the 70’s when he was still using blackface! That was funny shit he really looked like Hendrix!
Randy Hansen Is literally The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Excellent Documentary/Had the pleasure of seeing Randy at the Keystone Berkeley back in 83/Both Frank Marino & Randy Hanson have seen some Miles/Love these Guys/Thx for Sharing ⛅ 🎸 ⛅

I saw Randy at the Berkeley Community Theater at that same time fall of 1979. Y & T opened for him.

wow, I concur, he's the best I've heard in that regard.
I hope to get to hear him and jimi play together in the afterlife.
Love..Randy Hes Great..I have almost every Hendrix CD..Except Crash Landing..I have very Rare CD Jimi Hemdrix concerts..Last made in the 80s...😁✌️👍
Do you have 9 to the Universe ??
I've seen Randy a few times, he is incredible

I saw randy do a backflip and not miss a beat, the most amazing thing i ever saw at a concert.
I saw Randy in the late 70's and he was a revelation! He also did 'Band of Gypsies' live with Buddy Miles at the Kabuki Theater in San Fran. Also fantastic!
I saw he & Mitch on that '84 tour. Cain's Ballroom Tulsa OK, still have the ticket stub #1. They were LOUD & great.

His shows are prrobably great. All killers, with no filler.
Hanson ,Trower,Marino vaughn top four Hendrix sounding guitar players
Uli Jon Roth also an virtous that is heavily influenced by Jimi. :)
I Wonder when Randy gonna make his own music. That is the goal of every musician.
I saw the tour when he opened for Heart! I thought he was gonna hurt himself!!
When Randy played in Austin Texas, he had a new kid backing his show up. That kid was SRV.
When someone passes esp. If there was a demonic spirit it looks for another place to inhabit. Found it in Hansen
Hansen is so much more than a Hendrix clone, it's sort of a shame that his homages paint him into that corner
Yes.... EGGCELLENT!!!!
Hendrix had a lot more feeling in his playing.

Hi Does he do any other group songs
Monster
Hendricks was the measuring stick for all guitar players I don't know what Randy Hansen is
Whats the name of the last song?

Who's the drummer on the last sound track?
Buddy.

1983 A Merman I Shall be. From Electric Ladyland. It’s note perfect.

About the first musical copycat......
The best copy Katt. Hendrix did his own Thang. Little Richard said everybody is a star you just got to be put in dipper and poured back on the world. All true don't copy or overdose copying a legend. I prefer Rory Bremner
