Randy doen't only have the blessing of the Hendrix family, but that of all the people who love Jimi's music. I think he's the only one who really embodies the sound as well as the spirit of Jimi Hendrix.
So fitting, that he is also from Seattle!...I caught him back in 1976, when he was just starting out...he stunned me with his excellent cover versions, and he even managed to LOOK like Jimi, despite being a White guy! Just a few years ago, I caught his act again, over 35 years later!...I shook his hand during a break.

Randy not only plays the notes he gets the SOUND. A great player and a great show. I don't know if he has the blessing of the Hendrix family though (as stated here) because he never appears in the Experience Hendrix tours....which is a shame but I would rather see his show anyway.

The thing about Randy besides the great guitar playing like Jimi ...the unique thing about Jimi Hendrix to me was his voice, his vocal, and Randy is stunningly similar and his vocal sound....it sounds like Jimi singing! I mean lots of guitar players can play Jimis guitar riffs but I've never heard anybody sing like Jimi Hendrix. Except for Randy! that's the most stunning thing about him as a performer and a human being to me. It's like watching Jimi Hendrix singing all his cool songs! It's stupefying!
Saw Randy in a small pub near me in Germany. I've been in awe of Hendrix since I first heard a record of him in 1969 so i'm a bit choosy about who I listen to playing Hendrix, but I think Randy does it with a lot of respect and it's quite an experiece to hear how Hendrix would have sounded live.

For those who never got to see Jimi now is your chance. When i first heard Randy playing Machine gun i thought it was a lost recording of Jimi. Until i saw The video then i littetally was spooked!! It was as if Jimi was channeled through Randy. No one does Jimi better than Randy NOBODY!!!!
That is true!...It is a funny thing about "purists"....back in the late 1970s, I caught Randy performing his act in Seattle...and I took some good photos of him, and sent them to a well-known Hendrix biographer....the writer sent them back to me, telling me to never send me stuff about copycats!...but a few years later, the same biographer was writing nice things about Randy Hansen, in his Hendrix fan magazine! What an arrogant dude!

Hendrix is really hard to copy. Hanson understands Hendrix so he can express it. Not copy. Copy has no feeling. Expression does. Hanson is feeling all of what he is doing. If you do not play music you might not get any of this.
NOBODY played or plays like Jimi Hendrix. He took God Clapton and turned him into an Angel. What Jimi was doing in 1967 rewrote what and how the guitar could be played and sound like. If Jimi is NOT your favorite guitar player, he's your favorite guitarist favorite guitar player.
Hansen and Hendrix were split from the same atom......and both are from Seattle, Washington. Hansen is literally the closest we have to Jimi Hendrix now.

Chris Daniel being a good guitarist would include a good grasp of Hendrix catalogue - Hansen nails it and then some with originality humor respect and style. Let me tell you what I do myself. I've been playing guitar for 20 years. I have played with several bands and in the Netherlands I can be found on many albums of other bands. I play for myself Hendrix Vai marino Sateriani paco the lucia, rosenberg trio one where I deal a lot with jam this is a gypsy trio. Now Randy, I do not know where one gets all the positive comments, but this is so far from reality. His songs are first and foremost a personal interpretation of Hendrix but lacks the feel. Ritmically he is not in any song well it is played sloppily I have the most liks missing a proper rendition and rhythmically you can not him besides hendrix polaten, he is regularly in the wrong framework. If you hear him playing with other musicians, this is immediately noticeable. It would be hard to bear with a lot of effort and an ear but his looks are anti Hendrix no moves no expression or his face becomes an image that is straight against Hendrix. I would not book him for a room where a hundred people would be able to ... One of the least interpreters of the Hendrix material.
