I love this park. I came here for the first time not knowing how to jump at all but then learned on the last tree tabletops in the west indies line (the jumps next to the set of big jap jumps). Then after a few more visits I began to start doing some of the gap jumps until a few visits later when I crashed on the small hip (the second 4th jump in the jump line) in the west indies line and dislocated my shoulder...
Hey BCpov! When I was in college I pole vaulted. There were some mental blocks I had that challenged me for progressing further and becoming a better athlete. I reached out to a sports psychologist and had a few sessions on how to get into the right mind set for competitions. I learned alot from the few sessions I had in the past. I still currently use what I've been taught and apply it for what I love doing now which is mtn biking. So maybe you could look up some helpful tips from a sport psychologists to get in the right mind set when you are approaching jumps! If it helped me then I know it could help you to! Happy riding my friend!
I am loving all of your south Florida videos! I was there in 2017. I rode all these spots. Including the the vortex pit in Ocala and Markham park near Ft lauderdale. Grapefruit was my favorite! Sweetwater is another short and sweet. S/o to Sethsbikehacks for O.G. vids in SF
I am so happy you made the comment about there not being a bridge between beginner jumps and the really advanced stuff. I have been riding out there for many years and helping build for almost as long. I have been saying the same thing for a long time to no avail.
Some table tops would be good, but this problem is pretty typical in MTB, if someone is willing to dig, they're probably a pretty good rider and want to build stuff they want to ride!
@@BCpov one of the issues is that Grapefruit Trails is a city park as well and there is alway talk of how easy it is to progress there. We used to have a huge volunteer turn out for work days but it has become very "cliq" based so if your are not part of the "OG group" even if you where digging all the time your input means diddly, I still try to help people progress there but just like you say there is a large gap that needs to be filled which means I have to look elsewhere to bridge the gap
After I realized that was your van I saw at the trail head I was hoping you'd post a video! There's another mile of trail that just got blazed last week so you'll have to come back once it's finished.
I hope you make it to miami and ride Virginia Key, Amelia park, and Markham park. Then on you way north you can ride the best trails in FL. Alafia state park, Balm Boyette (you have to ride ridge line!!!!) and then hit Santos OMBA Gold star ranking! Santos has some massive drops and jumps!
Awesome video! Love your storytelling style! If you can visualise yourself doing it, then you can!! Although I often visualise it and crash anyway! I got the footage to prove it too 😂😂 great vids keep it up!
That little wood jump st the beginning of the trail is the Pineapple Kicker. Also, I think the GFT is the perfect place to learn how to jump. It’s where I learned. It didn’t look like you tried the Moto Jump which is a perfect first time gap jump. No lip at all. Then there are lots of tables to practice on. Once you get good clearing the tables then you can move onto the gaps. .
I'm meeting up with a coach to learn how to jump. I watch UA-cam videos left and right on the subject, and just can't seem to get the hang of it. We're heading to Santos for the coaching session. If you're still in Florida and haven't hit Santos, yet (I can't imagine you missing it, to be honest), I highly recommend it. It's a fun park. Stay upright and keep the rubber side down. -Brian
Hey BC, if you want to practice gaps, head out to I-Street jump park in Salt Lake City during the spring/fall. The main line and quite a few others are gaps built for larger bikes like trail, enduro, and some lines even handle Freeride bikes well. I take my Transition Sentinel up there all the time, and there’s a fast, flowy DH trail just a few minutes away from that. If you’re ever in salt lake in the next few months, give people a holler and you’ll have tons of people willing to ride with you :)
This is a great, and shows exactly what its like building confidence to hit these kind of jumps, and shows with practice and determination you can get there in the end.
If u ever come to Australia I know a great bike jump Place for u guys It’s about 2 hours north of Sydney in a place called the Central Coast and there is a place called Tumbi Umbi and it’s in a bush and it’s called Bog hole. It’s a really fun place and the bike jumps are very big they are probably the size of the jumps in red bull tournaments and stuff
Once of the best videos of this place. I live north of here and have yet to make it down there. Ill go someday and you just made it really a desire now.
Hey BC pov if its on your way you should try to stop by Tallahassee because we have some really cool trails in Tom Brown park and Lafayette and there are probably some people who would love to show you around. The trails are nice and consist of singletrack, freeride jumps, and a velo solutions pump track. We'd like to be put on the map as a riding destination in Florida
Great Vid! This is the closest MTB trails near my home (6.3 miles). I drive a bit further to ride the XC trails (9 miles). My jump skill are horrible. I happen to agree with you, there are starter jumps then pro gaps jumps, no in between. I do ride it occasionally and have made it to a couple of work days. The club BMBA is full of a great group of guys and gals, wish you could have met some of them when you were there.
I love this trail I live an hour away but the first time I went I did almost everything and it’s was so hard cause I hadn’t got my new bike and the old one is a trek 800 with nooo shocks
Who knew Florida could have such nice trails, my mom lives down there and back in the 90s she wanted me to move down with her, I said no way, I love mtn biking too much. You guys have a great channel, and it's so good to see another couple biking together. I got my wife into riding about 17 years ago and we ride together all the time. We both love riding DH and take trips in the summer to the bike parks in the North East. She is the best riding partner, and I taught her just about everything she knows.... But she does hate it sometimes and she has taken some private lessons. She will ride most any trail I do and is a pretty good DH rider. When I started riding Mtn Bikes in 1989 it was all guys. Now when we go to bike parks there are so many women, I love it. I've worked in the bike industry since 2011 and I love helping women get their first bike, then seeing them come back months later to thank me. Keep up the videos, and keep pushing yourselves.
I have lived in the town where this trail resides for 19 years and I didn't even know that this existed. There is another riding place in the area that was once upon time maintained but is sadly not anymore.
I’m working on a bike trail in my backyard right now and I was testing it and crashed into a tree😂😂 Luckily it wasn’t severe and I’m not dead! Yay me!!!
Some lore for this place: Originally built illegally, before all the jumps were destroyed by the state. The builders then received a permit to ride here and they reconstructed. The sand in this area is 100% unusable for building jumps, so the jumps are build out of the river bed from the man made canal to the north of the park. Also a large portion fo the gap jumps on the north side have been made into tables, so they're much easier.
It's important to keep in mind, and you touched on it, that not all jumps are great for all bikes. With a 29er Enduro bike, you will struggle jumping off lips made for BMX and/or DJ bikes. The bigger the bike, the bigger and longer the transition needs to be. So these small kicker jumps are actually quite sketchy on a bigger bike. Your front wheel leaves the lip before your rear wheel even gets onto the transition. Yes, you can still do it, but it's quite awkward. I would suggest getting comfortable on a larger tabletop and learn to maintain speed and control. Bigger bikes are super stable and speed and do most of the work for you, you just have to be willing to go far and launch, which can be scary at first. But long before doing any jumping you need to be able to successfully bunnyhop your bike and not just lift both wheels at the same time, you need to know how to hop front wheel first, then rear wheel so you understand the control part of jumping. If you can't bunnyhop front then rear on your bike, don't start jumping yet. Learn that first, then apply those skills to the jumps and you will have a much easier and safer time learning to jump. I see far too many mountain bikers trying to jump when they don't know how to bunnyhop, thus they don't understand the mechanics of jumping at all.......they just launch and hang on for dear life! This is a very well done video! I like that you were able to go off the side to see how the lip feels before committing to making the landing.
A little confused when you say there are no jumps near where you live in Vancouver because there are so many that are way better then these and a lot closer than Florida?
In my opinion everything in this bike park looked extremely sketchy. And even sketchier with Full suspension bikes. What do you need full suspension there anyway?
Yuka crashes. Eric stands completely still.
Awesome to see you on one of my local trails! I have several fond memories of crashing there. :)

7:50 I thought this was Seth’s Bike Hacks
seth’s 60 year old version
Sorry to break it to you but Seth doesn’t live in Florida anymore. Just trying to be nice about it! 😅
Ciarán Blue just say he doesn’t live in Florida anymore it’s fine
Me too
It’s berm peak now
5:28 does he have a bike chain in his leg
Titanium plate that happens to resemble a chain
Its nice to see videos like this because the grapefruit trails is literally my backyard
Wish I had this nearby. Perfect for learning (what i need). Thanks for sharing
I live 20 miles south of there , the next exit down you should definitely stop by
Just found out 3 days ago, after 2 years of living in palm bay that this is not even half a mile from my house lol .
Wow. That's a fantastic set of jumps for a public place, let alone Florida! Really enjoyed this video! Glad you guys were able to progress.
Absolutely. These are great trails let alone great Florida trails

A guy come from British Columbia to Florida to learn how to jump😂 that’s funny. Love you tho man😤

Trails with Taylor holy crap yeah I saw your crash video, that was gnarly!
I agree but you’re right, sometimes it can end badly! :)

Very cool little place there!! Thanks for posting.
Sweet! Would love to go there sometime
You did it! Congrats! There's no looking back now!!!
Hi Nick! He looks a lot better than he did in North Carolina last Oct/Nov!
Getting there! Hoping to be cleared to ride outdoors at my next checkup in February 🤘🏼

Dude yuka crashes soo dam hard what a trooper. Great progession!
Hey Eric and Yuka, you're an inspiration! Great way to progress! :)
Great stuff Eric and yuka 🚴🚴😎🤘🤘🤘
I'm not even riding anymore but still I love to come back to this channel to watch your videos:)
Very cool to see something like that in FL! Up here we've got duthie that has a baby gap jump line to start on then move up from there!

Yuka is so rad
glad you are continuing to explore FL trails
Super solid
Maybe a bit late but, you got to try Markham Park, similar with fewer jumps and steeper downhills.
I think it is more thrilling.
Hey bcpov you need to go to markham park bike trails it’s very big around the Broward area

Interesting. Shows what you can do with flat land when a little creativity is applied.
as a local to the grapefruit area, all i can say is the gopro effect is strong here. a lot of that stuff is a tad steeper than it looks

Florida trails look sick
We are so lacking jump trails and bike parks in Phoenix, AZ. They look like they are incredibly fun.
Man.... Yuka is tough gal. Go Yuka!!!
Awesome guys! She is a tough cookie...
Great channel Eric
Well done, I Live in palm bay (flat land) and I'd be nervous too
You should stop at Alafia River State park on your way back up, those are my local trails and I may be able to show you around!!
Heading your way in a couple of weeks hopefully your out riding Sunday the 9th
Looks like a fun trail. Even for as flat as it looks.
The double @ 1:41 is so massive now. Dudes go almost 20 ft high now.
Jumps mess with my head too much as well. But im only 2 months back into this short. Lol great video man!
Those trails are awesome!
They look so clean and beautiful. :)
Yuka came way close to the right edge on that step up Deck!
You should try crabapple in whistlee
Was there on Sunday
What type of helmet would you suggest that are not that expensive?
Great vid. Do I need to know how to do a bunny hop for me to learn how to jump a ramp?
From what I watch from other tutorials is that jumping by using hopping is the wrong way to jump. Watch a few there are plenty of them.
You should go to mt Washington on Vancouver island
Did you send it with flat pedal ??
He deserves more subs than he has
No way i was here that day and didnt even realize who you guys were!
You should put Grapefruit trails on your list to check out again. Quite a bit has changed since this video. :)

you should go to beach and peach
Not going to lie I live like a couple of minutes away form GFT and I was there on Saturday
I have lived here for years and never even knew about this jem. I thought that the only feature PB had was the Compound! Lol
What happened to drop with the left turn? 🤔
Can you come to hamsterley forest
There's 2 new trails and 6 new drops at the grapefruit trails
Yuka " Ohhh, ahhh, hai! " Love watching and listening.
It's not about the jump it's about the mindset
Check out Croom Mountain bike trails , you won't regret it
I dont have any jump places around me how travel is to much for jumping
Sweeet Trail
Bruh I’m still scared to do any jumps at all! If only I had someone to guide me first lol
I wish I could ride there
Yet I can’t even do bairly anything as a jump gap thingy kabob do dah
Should’ve let me come show you around haha

they just don't own dirt jumpers, big mistake IMO. even a bmx would be better
Nostalgia from Seth's bike hacks
You just have to bold and believe in yourself that's all
bro you need to get that headcase out of the way and just hit jumps and drops!
As soon as I saw the step up I thought of the whistmas video 😂
Why do Yuka crashes are so funny
