      Good job! I really enjoy seeing you progress as a rider, and as someone who just started mountain biking it gives me the courage to try new features. One suggestion: I liked the style you did of showing the jumps on the trail as you conquered them (I know that must have taken a lot of time to setup), but one thing I would suggest adding is a progress bar or something showing the sections as you go through them so you can tell where you are and what jumps or features you are doing. Keep up the good work!

      Gab Bertozzi this might sound a bit weird but one of the best ways I have found to get loose in the air and while riding the trail is to sing a song in your head
      It takes your mind off of what’s ahead
      And if this doesn’t work it’s all about confidence, before you want to hit a big jump pump yourself up and I would start by doing a couple of runs on that trail to get yourself comfortable on the other jumps in the trail if there are any

    speed is your biggest kryotonite, doesnt matter what obstacle your facing, with too little speed you will not make it. and I've seen a couple of your videos. I ride motocross and I've come across stuff that make me question the risks. But jumping something with as little speed as possible to clear it is stupid and dangerous.
    If you really cant go faster then the jumps isnt your biggest issues, its your corner speed to the jump. Best tip for better corner speed, look ahead, not at your front wheel. If you fall, but in a calculated way, by stopping, looking at both the section before AND after the obstacle, you can crash from time to time with no big deal. Landing short on a gap jump is always worse (in my world) than overjumping something.
    There are small jumps that may look more scary than a big but simple jump. Still the big jump is more dangerous if something really do go wrong. More speed over a gap jump will 9 out of 10 times be more safe than jump too short. Everybody slam from time to time, ask any pro. Send it and adjust afterwards if it didnt work out.

  • @willbros1499
    @willbros1499 4 роки тому

    Great video! Anything tells a story is always more compelling. A possible interesting idea for a future video, would be to go back in time and show some side-by-side comparisons of your from on the same trail last time, or some clips of you jumping at other places versus now. Your form is infinitely better. I will always contend that it isn't until riders learn how to boost off the lips, that they will truly have the correct form going up the face. I think the best thing riders can do is go find a short gap double, and practice it over and over. Start at a speed that they can just ride over it and clear it, and then start going into it progressively slower and slower, and forcing themselves to use the suspension and their legs to gain the height needed to clear it. SO MANY riders are concerned about getting thrown into the air, so they absorb the forces from the face of the jump with their legs, instead of limiting the knee bend, controlling the bike, and allowing the suspension to help do the work for them. Squashing jumps is a great skill to develop, but if you START with that form out of fear instincts of "launching too high," then it ingrains HORRIBLE habits that are hard to break. I know...from personal experience. Better to start small, learn correct form and how to create lift, and then move that form to bigger jumps.

    Wish I knew you were coming to Redding! I helped resurface enticer a few weeks ago, and have been working on and building a lot of the trails at Swasey! I would have loved to ride with you even if I couldn’t ride the big jumps yet! And speaking of enticer, how do the berms feel? we made them a lot steeper than before.

    • @willbros1499
      @willbros1499 4 роки тому +1

      So.....assuming "enticer" is named after Larry Enticer, of snowmobile "just send it" fame?? That trail looks like a gas, and reminds me a lot of the capped stuff we have here in Arkansas, where there's not a lot of elevation, and you have to pedal to maintain the speed to clear everything. I'm a fan of these "moto" style jumps, rather than the step lip DJ style jumps. That's been my only complaint about a few spots here in NWA, is that on speed based flow trails, we'll have some steep DJ style jumps thrown in the mix that kill your speed and flow. You're smokin' down the trail...and boom, brake check.

      Willbros I don’t know if it’s named after him, or just because it’s an enticing trail, but yeah it sick. Super fast, no steep lips, decent length. Pretty fun trail. I personally prefer these jumps wayyyy more than steep jumps. I don’t care all that much about going super high, just get me over the gap! And i usually crash on steep jumps. And yeah, they also kill your speed and flow.

    i had the same mental battle at a place called black mountain cycle centre in wales. towed over half of it one year then the next had to conquer it on my own. best feeling i have ever had. got it on video if you fancy a look, it's my massive uk jumps video. over 40ft some of them! great to watch you overcome the fear, such an achievement.

    i over jumped that 25 foot gap and let me tell you, you would definitely rather under jump than over jump. I G-out and bounced down the trail on my back...

    Gap jumps are scary, but so satisfying to hit. When you get it, you gotta do it again right after!

    If you ever come to Las Vegas there is a bike park in Arroyo Grande sports complex. It has pretty big jumps and pump tracks.

    Hey, BCPov. You don't know me but I tried hitting my first ever "big" step up. I completely over sent it with wayy tooo much speed and went flying over the bars. Cutting my already existing cut open again. Spent 2 days in hospital. Can't ride for another 6-8 weeks. But watching this video really entertained me and helped. I lost a lot of confidence but am keen to get back. Keep up the great videos. :)
