40 Korg Minilogue XD Ambient Presets/Patches - 'Scattered'

A quick demo showing 40 ambient and atmospheric patches/presets for the Minilogue XD. An assortment of beautiful keys, dreamlike pads, lo-fi atmospherics and classic strings. All the patches come with custom joystick mappings for the X+Y directions. All audio for this demo was recorded straight into a Universal Audio interface at 48khz, 24 bit with no external FX. Everything you hear is the Minilogue XD and this preset pack.
A custom oscillator set is provided in the download and is required to use some of the patches. An installation guide is also provided.

I think a lot of programmers regard Ambient patches as being huge evolving textures. Fair enough, but more subtlety is my preference (which is harder to do, I reckon). These have that lovely subtlety. Thanks.

Most of these sounds are heavily filtered saw waves, with different amounts of oscillator detuning.

Very nicely done, beautiful patches. Acquiring the XD is on my list for the near future (I'm convinced the XD version is the better choice, rather than just going for the plain minilogue), I'll be coming back to check out your patches.

That preset at 1:46 "Yesterday", has to be a reference for "Kid for Today" because it sounds amazingly close to that song! I really liked the sounds

Is there any point in getting this if I have a deepmind 12. I want one because I can get k3 oscillators for it and that was my first synth, but I feel like there's a big crossover wirh the deepmind

Bought the pack.
When I select the modal_strike user oscillators, they almost always produce no sound (where any other user oscillator that I select does make sound).
Strangely, I'll sometimes find one of the 3 modal oscillators works, but not the other two (and I can't work out why the particular one of the 3 works - if I change patches, it stops working)...
Any thoughts?

Bought your patches but Minilogue XD editor from Korg is a "no go" for M1 Macs. Best alrenative? plain sysex dump?
I've not had any issues on my end with the editor on an M1, although one user has reported going back to a previous XD Editor version fixed an issue on an M1 Mac, so maybe give that a go. Send me an email at hello@soundghost.net if you need any further help!

Hey! Thanks for the kind words :) Where did you see the mention of Prologue sorry? These are only compatible with Minilogue XD. As far as I’m aware there’s no way of converting between the XD and Prologue preset formats. Thanks! :)

I use Ableton and vst's like Omnisphere and NI stuff. I'd really like to get into hardware synths and your video has confirmed that even more. The patches are exactly what I like. Thing is, it's quite a big expense (not the patches but the synth). Do you think it really is a different world compared to vst's like Omnisphere and NI. Thank you.
I would say it’s different for everyone and depends how you prefer to work/make music - some people get on just fine with only plugins. That said, hardware synths all have their own sound/character (as do plugins) and offer you a more ‘hands on’ approach which makes it feel more personal and can sometimes, in my experience, result in more experimentation that’s not hampered by a mouse and keyboard. :)

Recently Purchased an XD. is it even possible to create these patches with the Default Machine? was seriously drawn to the ambient sounds the XD offered, but I am not really coming close to creating these ambient pads yet.
Late reply but it's mentioned that it includes some additional oscillators. You probably need to use those included oscillators in order to get that extra ambient kick to it.
I don’t suppose these patches work with the original minilogue?
No they don’t sorry, both of the synths use different sound engines, especially the XD which has a built in digital engine + FX, both of which the original doesn’t have.

Yep, you're good Tobias, the desktop module is exactly the same synth, but without the keyboard.
the added aftertouch via the last update, is it only midi aftertouch, meaning only via an external keyboard?
Yeah that’s correct, there’s no aftertouch on the Minilogue XD keybed. 👍

I would assume that some of the sounds are from the digital oscillator. The XD is not all analog.
Will these install in a regular non-XD Minilogue?
No, you need the Minilogue XD. :)

16 oscillators... I only have a few spots left....maybe include the amount of oscillators required to use these patches in the description for people before they make the purchase? Great sounds, but I can't load them in at the expense of my other oscillators.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention! We've updated the product description and PDF included in the download to detail this. Although there are 16 oscillators included in the pack, you only need 10 of them which frees up 6 spaces. Hope this helps and hope you enjoy the patches! :)

For some reason whenever I use the Sines patch the Minilogue XD gets completely out of tune
Thanks for the report Damian, we'll take a look! If I recall correctly that patch is dependent the filter resonance, so if you adjust the filter it will also adjust the tuning. Feel free to send us an email at hello@soundghost.net and we'll take a look with you :)
@@SoundGhost Yeah I realized that, is there a lfo assigned to the pitch ?
@@damianlove19 No LFO assignment to pitch on this one, no. The filter is at full resonance, with key tracking at 100% (key tracking control is under Resonance) plus the amplitude Release stage is set quite high. If you try this on a blank patch, you'll hear notes drift in and out of tune slightly. This is sine waves phasing and drifting in and out of each other. As the XD is analogue it will never be 100% accurate as well. It makes a lovely sound though which is great for lofi!

Does these work on ordinary Miniloque? Or only for xd?
You'll need the Minilogue XD or a Prologue. These won't work on the regular Minilogue unfortunately as it doesn't have FX or the Multi-Engine.

I just bought it and nearly every patch was screwed up! I put in all the custom oscillators just to make sure but the preset sound was muffled and this is comparing the sound on my XD Module with the sounds on this UA-cam video. To fix it, I had to move the Filter Cutoff knob and then resave each and every preset of the 40 listed. However, the Sines preset is still useless. The filter cutoff trick doesn't work for it. It's got this heavy sub-bass playing with each note, resonance seems to be set way up but when I turn that, all I get is airplane flight noise.
Note: this issue isn't happening with the pre-canned patches that are shipped with XD.
Hi there, this is very odd and we've never had this reported. It sounds like something could be up with the filter on your unit. Please send over an email to hello@soundghost.net and we'll take a look with you. :)
@@SoundGhost I'll send an email soon, but the filter works fine. I re-saved all of the presets after moving the filter and the sound is retained. All of the included presets with the unit have remained unchanged and when I turn the Filter knob, it's not creating any static or problem in the sound, or anything like that.
If it had done that, I'd know there was an issue with my XD (and would be bummed about it). The only thing I can't seem to fix is the Sines preset. It's very boomy and turning the filter just makes the keys sound like air. I have to turn the Resonance knob for it as well as there is a very high pitch sound, but once I turn the knobs, there's nothing but an air sound after that.
