Apologies for the question, i don’t know who else to try. Thought i might be missing somethjng simple. I’ve done a factory reset, still the same. Any help, really appreciated. Best wishes
I think everything is normal ^^ Do you turn the resonance super high to do that ? Some filters can be very resonant, to the point they become "self-resonant" or "self-resonating". They maintain their own tone at the cutoff's frequency. On some synths it sometimes provide a purer sine wave than a sine made by the oscillator.
Since it's analogue synth - is it possible that it will detune mid gig for example? This synth seems amazing but just wanna make sure it's good to play at live gigs with :) This video was very informative, thankyou!
Yes, it is possible that it get detuned due to changes in temperature for example. But there's a function to re-tune it automatically. It takes maybe 10 seconds, so you can do it from time to time to make sure it stays in tune.
Korg forgot one thing: To put a +/- or arrows buttons for picking a sound, you can only use the decoder to scroll through hundreds of sounds, until you find what you are looking for. I have the MS2000 for example, it has at least 2 options, so is with the Radias, but they dropped it on this one, it's a madness! The rotating and clicking decoder will wear out fast....what a pity.

Excellent overview/tutorial of the Minilogue. You have a nice soothing voice that made 35mins not feel like torture. Thanks for making such a nicely produced video.
MONO BPM delay with Time set to 1 bar & depth set to 100%, you basically get a delay looper that you can stack notes with. learned this from watching Dakim's Boiler Room Set video and incorporated it here lol
Decided to look for a video on the XD, have it for a couple of months now. It's like you knew I was going to search by uploading it today. :D Anyways, great tut. Thanks a lot mate.
Great video, very thorough!! I'm new to making music (or trying to), bought a midi keyboard controller a while ago now (akai mpk 249) which I think is great and versatile but I am actually really starting to dislike the whole vst scene. I'm spending so much time just trying to figure out how the thing works, and to get it to play nicely with my computer, and then trying to map controls to vst's, I just want to explore sounds and actually create things. I want to buy my first hardware synth and am trying to figure out what I really want/need. I was thinking of a Bass Station 2 but then came across the Minilogue for the same price. Now I see the XD and all it can do (thank you) and I think I've made up my mind! I like that the Minilogue can be poly and mono where the Bass Station 2 is just Mono. It's simple and uncluttered layout makes it very approachable for a noob like me. Tons of custom user slots, multi engine, custom oscillators, Korg quality and sleek styling. The OLED waveform display is the icing on the cake for me ALL SYNTHS SHOULD HAVE THIS!!! That's it, I'm buying one!!!
I am proud to be buying the Minilogue XD as a first synth for my stepson. His 19th B-day party is this Saturday 2-8. It is appropriate though, as he was exposed to synthesizers through experiencing them down in my basement. Like you, I was happy plodding along with a Korg digital workstations from the early 1990's, and then eventually an Korg Oasys, then VSTs. I finally had saved some money for another keyboard around 9 years ago and was looking at things like the Roland phantom, woo hoo!. My keyboard exposure revolved around Guitar Center type stores, and I'd drool at whatever romplers the were pushing. I was looking for the crunchy synth sounds coming my favorite bands in the early days of new wave like Gary Numan, Vince Clark led Depeche Mode, OMD, etc., and I couldn't understand why my keyboard compositions up to that point didn't seem to have richness and bite coming from their songs, and everything I'd mess with at the store sounded like belonged coming from a "one man band" type entertainer on a cheesy cruise ship. I finally did some basic research, and learned that this type of synth called an "analog" synth was making a comeback, and a lightbulb went off. I opened up my wallet and stuffed my basement with several analog beauties. My life had changed, and yours will too!
Colin Kohlbeck Hi Colin, I cut myself off at two Andromeda A6s, two Yamaha CS-80’s, (two of those each because I prefer having a backup and both are unreliable unfortunately and especially with the CS-80, parts are almost Impossible to find) one Yamaha CS-60, a Memorymoog LAMM, Modal Modulus 002, Schmidt 8-Voice, and my favorite synth the Knifonium. I also have decided to get the classic Trinity that old school studios typically had, a Hammond B3, Fender Rhodes Suitcase 88, and a Wurlitzer 112. My digitals are a pair of Korg Oasys’s and Korg O1W/FD’s, and a Roli Seaboard Grand, and Akai MPCX the O1W’s being my first “synths” that are actually just romplers, but the way you can stack the sounds is pretty amazing, especially for that era. I cut it off there to concentrate on a couple mixers, and outboard rack stuff like limiters and compressors etc. and some mics. Also added a 2” 16 track reel to reel, and a 2 track as well. It never seems to end, although I did stop adding new things for the most part as it became time to concentrate on composing again. Thankfully, with the virus keeping us all confined a bit, I have plenty to work with. I used to enjoy having folks over to play and record but that will have to cease for awhile. Please stay safe!
The Synthesizer Grouch yeah I hear you the virus has been terrible but has definitely made me more productive musically. Those are some beautiful synths you named though, I’m impressed. I’m looking to buy this minilogue xd as my first synth, but at my school I came across a non working memorymoog that they didn’t know what they were doing with. Would be a dream to be able to get that from them reasonably and fix it.
BS2 is not a monophonic anymore!! Some major updates made it to a beast! XD is so good but you better buy both! Bs2 now has aphex mode! 2 lfos! Sub osc! Duophonic! Controlling 3 osc separetly! Diverge mode ....and many more...!
I've stopped on 33.35 Before your conclusion, so I can give my conclusion, not on the minilogue XD, I mean we all know its awesome! BUT on Woochias performance. MAN! you really know your stuff, and when mine arrives I will be playing and replaying this tutorial/review many times as I learn and try to understand what everything does and how everything affects everything else, I know it will be a long journey(I'm not a muso) but with your help it will be easier. I am giving you a big THUMBS UP, and subscribing, I just wish I could do more! Now to watch the conclusion.
I used to spend most of my time sequencing - but with the xd, I find myself just imputing a few notes on the sequencer, pressing play, and getting lost in sound exploring. Really easy to get lofi textured sounds. A few more LFOs and more arp and sequencer modes (random, ping pong, reverse) would be huge with a new update!
I really hope Korg updates the sequencer with a random playback(rnd per note and/or overall random sequence) and reverse mode. Or double the steps... A better manual arp setting (Peak is a good example) as well.
You are the only one who have gone through the whole synth with great detail in a really short time compared to all the others who take hours and still be confused by the end. You have an amazing skill of a great teacher ❤❤

MONO BPM delay with Time set to 1 bar & depth set to 100%, you basically get a delay looper that you can stack notes with. learned this from watching Dakim's Boiler Room Set video and incorporated it here lol
Interesting being that he's using a sampler, but I just tried it out on my XD and it definitely works! :)
One of THE BEST synth introductory demos online. Synth companies should hire you!
Brilliant and inspiring thank you I'm a late arrival to this awesome synth - everything I need to know in this video
Me too I just got mine about 1 week ago and I’m in love
Why is this demonstration in mono? The xd has stereo effects.
Decided to look for a video on the XD, have it for a couple of months now. It's like you knew I was going to search by uploading it today. :D Anyways, great tut. Thanks a lot mate.
lol there is a 303 inside there
Easier to program, too!
The Synthesizer Grouch Thats awesome, what analog synths do you have?
Colin Kohlbeck
Hi Colin,
I cut myself off at two Andromeda A6s, two Yamaha CS-80’s, (two of those each because I prefer having a backup and both are unreliable unfortunately and especially with the CS-80, parts are almost
Impossible to find) one Yamaha CS-60, a Memorymoog LAMM, Modal Modulus 002, Schmidt 8-Voice, and my favorite synth the Knifonium.
I used to enjoy having folks over to play and record but that will
have to cease for awhile.
I own minilogue and it sounds great. I love it. However i would love more modulation versatility, more destinations for envelope and lfo for example
agree but i use software to stack up whatever fx i want and then it lacks nothing. the combined fun is fia
I can recommend the Korg wavestate or indeed the modwave
the absolutely best video on the minilogue xd. on point!!
Superb video, this is practically a tutorial!
Best video for this synth on UA-cam! Thank you!
I really hope Korg updates the sequencer with a random playback(rnd per note and/or overall random sequence) and reverse mode. Or double the steps... A better manual arp setting (Peak is a good example) as well.
Not sure if he mentions it in this video, but you can arpeggiate chords on the sequencer to extend it to 64 single note steps
I've had one of these since it came out and I hardly touch it. I don't feel inspired when I'm using it. I use my Studiologic Sledge more. *shrug*
Really clear explanation of all the functions. Excellent review!
You are the only one who have gone through the whole synth with great detail in a really short time compared to all the others who take hours and still be confused by the end. You have an amazing skill of a great teacher ❤❤
Thank you for a super informative video. I've just got my Minilogue XD and realise this is going to be one big learning curve. what a superb instrument!!! Amazing Synth engines, infinite sound options, great sequencer and arpeggiator for live playing. ...Perfect for any lockdown ;-) .... will be exploring the edit and shift buttons!! Many thanks again!
My top synths
1- Subsequent 37
2- Minilogue xd
Excellent breakdown, well done Sir.
amazing video!!! thanks!
